good luck nathan

bluebell - sympathies, must be so hard for you. hope you are getting support & help you need now tho?

right, ds1 at nursery so should be doing all sorts of jobs, have popped out for teetha stuff for ds2 which led me to some chocolate eclairs

am trying to persuade myself that one is for tomorrow...

ds2 currently loving his walker, being able to stand up and move himself around (a little bit anyway).
watching pirates of the caribbean 2, borrowed 1, 2 & 3 from a friend, love the music.

right, off to next job - fixing a library book ds1 tore up, oops!

bluebell thanks for posting. you are not mad, and worrying that people think you are does not help you, and there is still too much of a stigma attached to pnd. You are a fab mum and ruby is a lucky girl.

Nathan is asleep, was smiling again after a little cry much to the relief of the nurse who had just before been unable to talk because he made her laugh so much. Calpol has worn off now and he is nice and cool.

His door bouncer arrived today and he had a little go. His grin split his face and had me in stitches.

Thread title (again? are we the most active group? ) how about 'where? did you put that brocoli?'

Simpson - sorry to hear about your loss, must be hard for dh

Madmouse - so glad jabs went ok...fingers crossed Nathan won't have any reaction at all...and I bet he loves the bouncer!

JKS - I can't believe you're letting Henry anywhere near a walker !!!! Surely having one moving child is bad enough!!!!

Lucky - John Lewis do a brilliant semi-inflatable travelling highchair that you can strap onto any chair but zips away in between uses...not sure whether it would be good from 6 months but we definitely found ours really useful....worth checking maybe?

Right, really p-d off - had to go to a school open day with dh to check it out for ds' entry in 2009...MIL came over to babysit for Tamara who was due to be asleep from 2-4ish. We left at 2 having settled her, and she was a bit unsettled, but left strict instructions to leave her in bed and just go in and shush her if necessary. Get back at 3.30 to a crying baby and my MIL admitting she just put her down 2 mins ago because she'd been crying just after we left so she got her up.......then she said "she was even crying all the time she was on my knee"....yes, because she was totally shattered and wanted to be asleep!!!! ....grrr...of course she fell asleep within 30 secs of dh going in and shush-patting her (literally) and now I'm going to have a grumpy baby all afternoon....

How about "Food, glorious food...there's nothing quite like it!" for our next thread?

love to all xxx

Sorry - haven't had time to read all but wanted to say to Lilyloo -

the thing I think has amde the most difference to Sabela's sleep - which is improved but some nights much better than others - (I'm giving it time) is two two hour naps during the day. She sleeps from 10-12 and from 3-5. I do ANYTHING I can to keep her asleep, lying down next to her to give her a feed and often staying in the room or close to get to her before she gets upset if she wakes. She's now sleeping much more easily in these naps and is a brighter baby during the day / bedtimes much less hassle etc.

Progress on sleeping slow but noticeable. Went almost 6 hours day befre yesterday. Then 2 hours last night. Two steps forward, one step back.

Filly - I cannot believe that we are having to pick schools already!! Seems like only yesterday my DS was born! I went and got brochure and forms to fill in for our local infant schools today. Have to pick the best 4.If he was a day younger he would not be starting till 2010. Not sure how I feel about that yet...

DD did the worst poo ever today, all up her back, it went in her hair on her hands which I then had to hold down otherwise it would have gone in her mouth too. It made me feel quite ill changing her!!

Madmouse - glad jabs went well and Nathan nice and cool. We got our door bouncer out of loft last week and DD quite taken with it.

Hi to everyone else...

Hi all
DD in door bouncer as we speak - she loves it. He fave trick is trying to walk forward then springing back. she also likes spinning and bouncing at the same time.

Not much happening here Hope everyone is well

Time for a few personals

MM - well done to Nathan - hope he is as good tomorrow. Sabela was always a bit cranky the next day.

Simpson - sorry for your loss

Lucky - going over to investigate the weaning thread.

On that note, does anyone else think people are far too 'well informed' sometimes. All children are different so following exactly the same guidelines for everyone is going to be the wrong thing LOADs of times IMO. It's very hard to be natural about these things when you're bombarded with {often contradictory} advice about how to be 'perfect'. No such thing. Bung 'em a rusk!

Anyone else who's still BF - does this ring any bells. Sablea has just really started getting into food in the last few days. Which is great, but I'm concerned at ho wfast she is dropping BFs it's getting quite difficult to make her go for more than a few minutes ATM. Anyone else?

Report
simpson · 08/07/2008 21:04

susie - the weaning thread is under behaviour/development.

I definately agree with you all babies develop at different rates, this must apply to weaning/feeding too. DS was weaned at 21 wks and DD 23 wks and still not quite ready.

LuckySalem · 08/07/2008 21:37

I would take everything on the weaning threads with a pinch of salt tbh.

Bluebell - Sorry I didn't say anything before but I hope you are ok. Remember we're here to help as much as we can.

Aaliyah had cottage pie today My dad always makes me tea on a tues so I asked him to make some for aaliyah and told him all he had to watch was salt. She LOVED it - gobbled loads up, feeding herself I may add all I had to do was load the spoon and give it her the right way and off she went.

Lucky - does DD prefer to feed herself or you to feed her jars? Just asking coz am on holiday soon don't know whether to go the jar route or see if what we are eating is suitable?

Bluebell - Sorry have not said "hi". Glad you are getting help and hope things improve. Ruby sounds lovely.

Good evening ladies.
Sorry if I'm not around as much the next four weeks as I have my big boys staying for a bit and not only is it alot busier I don't get a word in edge ways as far as the pc is concerned
George is now sleeping from 7-5am then having a bottle, playing for a bit then sleeping till about 7.30. Hes eating loads now. A bit of puree a bit of real food too. He is also combat crawling properly now and sitting all on his own
I did wizz through the thread.
Can highly recomend Metanium cream for sore bums.
Still in size 3 nappies here.
Well take care all. Will try to pop in if I can tear my teens from the pc.
Take care all

Gingeme - enjoy having all your boys staying!! Even if you have to fight for the PC!! My DD's routine very similar bed 6.30pmish feed 5 am down again till 8am. She has dropped the 5am feed a couple of times but don't think it will happen till she has solids.

Lucky - think I will take some jars, blender and feed her what we eat too. DD is a definate little madam DH went to put her down again tonight (final feed in room dimmed light etc) she was not having any of it, I go in & try and she has 6 ozs!! So who knows what she will be like when we try solids and going on hols 2 wks after weaning her.

Good luck which ever way you try Simpson - If it helps - we didn't blend any of the cottage pie today - she ate it as we ate it.

Susie i agree i think day time sleeps are crucial in getting better sleep at night.
We just did one feed again last night and from her 2.30 feed she slept until 7

I think we will get there slowly but surely. Her naps were much better yesterday !

Susie i think they are just more efficient at feedding and obv don't need as much as they getting topped up with food. However i noticed that dropping couple of night feeds means huuuge boobies in the morning so shows how much she was getting even when they were only 2/3 min feeds!

Right ladies what title then ?

A "Food, glorious food...there's nothing quite like it!"

B 1 is crawling who's next?

C time for some proper dinner?

D 'where? did you put that brocoli?'

Quick poll please then i will do it unless anyone else wants

morning everyone

Blubell - I have also been diagnosed with PND - not the same symptoms as yours, mine is more that I get unbelievably irritable/angry about nothing and it's really affecting my relationship with DP. But we just have to remember that it is a recognised condition and it will pass, especially if you seek help, which it sounds like you're doing.

Susie/Lilyloo/other mums of non-sleepy babies! - We had a bit of a breakthrough here last night, in that I didn't feed DD during the night! Woo-hoo! Admittedly I was up from about 3.30 till 4.45, rocking madly, but she wasn't upset, just wouldn't settle if I put her back down. My HV said that this was pointless approach because I'm just substituting the breast for rocking, but I figure that if she goes a few nights without being fed, she might start to realise it's not worth waking up. I think it's worth a try anyway. I think it helped me to resign myself to the fact of not having enough sleep for a few days (so as not to give in and feed her) and because I was pretty sure she didn't need to be fed because she's never that hungry first thing in the morning.

LuckySalem - great to hear the BLW is going well. How many times a day are you offering food?

Hi all

Susie, well done to Sabela for the weight gain. She clearly prefers solids. I am starting nathan tomorrow.

Pera, I think you and not your hv has the right end of the stick. Being rocked is not worth getting up fo. But what is worth a try is pat and put down from the baby whisperer. You pat baby until calm, then put down, if crying pick up pat and put down etc. It works with nathan to the extend that sometimes patting him makes him go to sleep

We had quite a good night here, with no fever and no need for calpol. Nathan fed every three hours and then woke again at 7 which made me groan. He had icy feet as he was under blanket rather than in grobag so I put him on my chest under the duvet and he went back to sleep. My back started hurting so I put him between us and next thing I knew it was 8.45! Havent had so much sleep in ages. Nathan is grumpy today rhough, just not his happy self.
