Evening ladies.
Well to come straight to the point so to speak our sex life is definately back on track and we tried out our new mattress last night
And moving swiftly on we had a fantastic day out today at a place called Gullivers. Its near Milton Keenes. Thats not spelt right is it? Ah well its a theme park aimed at the very young. ds3 realy suprised me with the rides he wanted to go on the last one was the log flume and we were both soaked
Spending a day indoors tommorrow clearing up this pig stye of a flat. Maybe swimming bank holiday Monday depending on the weather. If its nice well be going to a farm thats near us.
Oh yes a food tip to share. Buy some Ellas kitchen organic baby food pouches. They are briliant when your out and about because you just squeeze the desired amount straight onto babys spoon and when you have finnished you just screw the cap back on. They come in some magnificent flavours too. Today ds5 had sweet potatoe, pumpkin, apple and blueberries flavour and he loved it. We also got strawberry and apple. apples and bananas, butternut squash, carrot, apples and prunes. peaches and banana and broccoli, pear ans peas. We got them from Tesco. They are only 75p per sachet. A friend of mine recomended them she said her 1 year old likes them so much she sucks them like a drink for a snack
Anyway off for a soak after my long day of walking.

Aaliyah now has her cot in our room. I did it on Friday night (took me an hour and a half ) Last night she woke up at 3am (which she hasn't done for weeks) and I found that she had turned herself sideways in the cot and was kicking her feet between the bars, is there anyway I can fix this? Also how do you keep sheets/quilts etc on them? DD keeps kicking them off and when I tuck them in it drives her mad cos she can't kick her feet.

Anyways hope your all ok. I'm taking DD to the in laws for an hour today cos they haven't seen her for a while. Really nervous at it's the first time I've been on my own.

Speak to ya later.

OK, probably missed out on loads from old thread - last week seems to have disappeared!

Filly - OUCH! Am crossing my legs as I type this - would arnica tablets or cream help do you think?

Naetha - the lack of nookie wsn't an issue until this week - went to the Family Planning Clinic last week and have booked to have Mirena coil fitted on Weds - the nurse said to avoid sex even with condom to absolutely sure no chance of pregnancy. So now I feel like a rampant rabbit! (OK I know there are other things to do but you know what it's like when someone says you can't do something...) I do occasionally get the odd flippant comment from DH which I'm sure he thinks I don't mind, along the lines of having done his bit I don't fancy it any more. Men - they love to wallow in self pity don't they?

Gingeme - I second the Ella's pouches - Amelie hasn't had one yet she's refused (even though the green ones look like the contents of her first nappy to me...) She has on the other hand turned her nose up at a couple of the Hipp jars, even one with the same flavours. And the Ella with prunes is good when they get constipated! Her favourite foods though are baby rice (she has this for breakfast) and home-cooked pureed veg - I think it's the texture as much as anything (I do the rice a bit more stodgy than the packet suggests as it's the only way she likes it)

Am getting her used to her cot at the mo -she goes down in it for her daytime sleep and her first sleep at night (take her back in our room when she wakes at 1am, her cot's in DD2's room)

Anyone else's lo's still waking a lot at night? We have usually 1, 3 and 5am wakings - am feeling knackered.

Also, anyone else still only BF (or BF with solids?) If mixed feeding, what time do you give bottles?

Last bit of mammoth post - we have a tooth! Much earlier than my other two, bottom tooth has just cut the gum.

Well today has been an absolute horror. Aaliyah has either been feeding, crying or sleeping. Anytime she was awake and no bottle in her mouth she's just been screaming. I think it's her teeth but I can't seem to soothe them, I've been letting her use my fingers, given her things from the fridge, calpol, bonjella. I'm just out of things!! I really feel like crying today.

Morning ladies.
Oh LuckySalem I hate days like that when you just don't know what to do for the best I hope today is a little easier for you.
George kind of slept through last night. He went to bed a little later because he had had a massive sleep in his cot in the afternoon . He woke at 2am as usual but only drank about 3oz of his bottle, mind you he has got a snotty nose, and went back to sleep. He woke again about 6am and I managed to settle him with his dummy he has just woke about 15 minutes ago. Dare I hope for another night like it tonight
Were getting some wallpaper and paint for our hallway today. Desperately needs to be done. Nasty wet Bank holiday weather here .
Well have a good day all xxx

hi, hi, hi all!! Just caught up on new thead. Ow filly, hope you're feeling better! Sounds awful.

Have had loads of guests this weekend, and spent Saturday at MILs, where I lost the anbesol ()- so yesterday was awful with her screaming until DH managed to get some more in the afternoon. Poor T has had a temperature and green poos, but seems better today after having some calpol yesterday - not sure if its a tummy bug or teething related.

Anyone else's los who are BF finding it hard to get the hindmilk? T seems to want to switch boobs when the letdown slows (starts fussing, unlatching, pulling on nipple, crying), and I think it hurts her gums to suck. Any ideas?

Naetha - DH was starting to get cranky over the lack of nooky, and I've been too tired to initiate anything (but would have been quite happy to go along with it!), and he was a bit wary of starting anything in case I wasn't in the mood/spotting from Mirena/still sore (all of which have been excuses happened in the past). So now, I just leap on him whenever I fancy - has been rather fun , and he's happy.

hi, DH off all week so we not doing anything special today, just tidying up before MIL comes to visit for rest of week.

DS has been sicking up after his formula feeds a lot, which is upsetting me, do you think I should switch brands? he is on SMA Gold at the moment. Feel a bit cluesless about formula TBH.

Re lady bits, hope yours are feeling a bit better Fluffy. Susie what do you think it is, have you heard of a Bartholins cyst? could be one of those. Think I'm lucky, the only good thing about section, no probs in that area . I got told off by FP doctor for not abstaining before coil appointment so she had to put it off for a couple of weeks .

Right, DS is "singing" he has a new cute "ooh ooh ooh" song which he was practising at 3am last night.

Hi Ange - I did have a c-section. NO idea why I've got pain there. I'll look up that cyst.

Sabela - like someone else's DC (sorry) is having one of those days where she sudden;ly learns loads morethings. She supported herself sitting up, worked out how to set of her musitoand really started playing with her activity gym. She was so pleased with herself! She has also destroyed the Argos catalogue which we distract her with while we eat.

Anyone bought a highchair yet? Think we're going for the Graco Contempo whatsit.

Hope DD is better today Lucky.

gingeme · 26/05/2008 16:49

Highchairs!! Better off buying one of those seat thing that go on a proper chair. You can take them apart and hose them down in the bath. Gets all the stray bits of toast out the nooks and crannies Thats my opinion.

susiemj · 26/05/2008 17:40

That sounds good. Can you use them at 5/6 months?

Hi Angechica I use Aptamil, a little more expensive but I have had no adverse affects and it is apparently the closest to breast milk, have tasted both and seems to be little difference taste wise! Plus Ruby's nappies are the same as when she was fully breast fed. Found that Tesco and Asda sell it the cheapest at 7.90 per 900ml tub

Report
gingeme · 26/05/2008 19:14

Susie you may have to prop them up a bit at first with a cushion but I found them better to keep clean tbh as it all comes apart and you just sloosh it down in the bath
We got ours from Toys r us. Can't remember how much but it was alot cheaper than a high chair and takes up alot less room. Plus you take the tray off when babys bigger and use it as a toddler booster seat which ds4 is in now.
Did a realy stupid thing today. We got a large table from Freecycle a couple of months ago. It was orginaly from Ikea but it was massive so I put it back on Freecycle. Got loads of responses for it. One lady come to pick it up about 3pm and another lady just rang to say she was on her way to get it and that I had rung her this morning to say after 6 is best had to tell her it had gone Doh..... do I feel stupid or what?

We're up to 3 bottles a day now. The spewing getting worse he seems to send it back even when it's been down for over an hour.

Plus he's just strained for ages for a poo and it is very thick.

I've got a couple of days worth of Cow and Gate .... see how we go with that. Then I will try Aptamil.

ange - us on aptamil here too charlie had no problems at all with it.

off for last set of jabs today .

Now she is 4 months and will have had jabs i am going to take her to a local swimming course for babies mainly splashing around i think but what do the babies wear - swim nappy?? costume what?

Report
susiemj · 27/05/2008 12:15

Ange - just in case the aptamil doesn't work, the only formula Sabela will take is the Hipp one. She likes it almost as much as mum's milk!

Naetha · 27/05/2008 15:04

With Formula the only one that Ben would take is Farley's, which is luckily the cheapest!! SMA and Cow and Gate he sicks up a lot, and Aptamil gave him terrible eczema. The Farley's is only £4.60 from ASDA, and only 21p for a 250ml carton. I've had a bit of a look at the research, and it's (independently verified) to be just as good as the more expensive brands, except Aptamil.

Ben's had a pretty terrible weekend - constantly grouchy and whinging. I think he's frustrated because all he wants to do is stand up and go places, and he can't do that yet.

Ah, I hear him calling now - his sleep isn't any better eitehr!

Susie - we bought a brilliant booster seat thing from John Lewis here which comes with 2 trays that you can also remove when they're old enough to sit at the table with everyone else. Have only just stopped using it for ds now, and he's nearly 3, so well worthwhile

We also bought the highchair from Ikea (£9 plus £2 for the separate tray). It doesn't tilt or do anything clever but it was nice and compact and wiped down brilliantly as the tray comes off completely so you can wash it in the sink. Oh, and it doesnt fold out, so its quite tidy and it fitted behind the small table in our (very) small kitchen!!

Hiya... just making sure i can find you all.

Filly - my sympathies. Dotn know what else to say.

Lucky - I would just reassess how you feel in 6 months as at 10 months A will be becomign really interesting and you may decide that you wnat to enjoy that some more, or see how you are coping with her and it might make you def want another right there and then.

Quick question has anyone who has had their second, or third (or 5th Gingme) found that nobody is really interested in their subsequent DC. I just find that people focus so much on DS1 and sort of ignore DS2. DH family actually text him to say can he bring DS1 round but with no mention of DS2.

Also, and this is the first time I have admited this, but I am finding it a bit difficult to be completely connected with DS2. Soemtimes I just sit and watch DS1 sleeping and I can feel this unmistakable sort of love / pain (prob explainin it wrong) but with DS2 I do feel affection but I just dont get that same worry and all emcompassing feeling. I dont ever want to have favourites or anything like that but it feels wrong to feel like this. I am hopign it is just because DS1 demands more attention so I automatically pay him more at the moment, but DH has said more than once that DS2 is his fave, he says he is jokign but I find it really upsetting - does anyone here actually have favourites and is that just natural. I dotn want it to be like that.

Lucky - I realised that I don't think anyone had responded to your covers/sheets problem earlier (apologies if you did and I missed it!)- I use a grobag and they are the best thing ever. They can't get their legs through the bars (although they can still get their arms through), they can't kick the covers off, and when you feed them in the night, they don't have the issue of going into a cold bed as you just leave them in the grobag. They are the best invention EVER!

You can get cheaper versions at Tesco/Asda

Report
Housemum · 27/05/2008 20:15

Naetha - I second that re grobags - and add that TK Maxx often has discounted genuine grobags (so good resale value on eBay/NCT sale!). Boots has only the pink one cheaper than RRP in 6mth+ size which seems unfair Boots grobags

Anyone out there still totally BFing (with or without solids)? Anyone who is BFing actually have a baby who sleeps weell at night??
