hi all

cr*p night here, Nathan wanted to feed 11, 1.30, 3.30 (awake for an hour), 5.50, 6.40...

he seemed to like the osteopath though, who was really nice and gentle. He did some cranial osteopathy and told us to wait a month to see what happens. All in all he felt nathan was very balanced and has plenty of strenght in the right arm and hand so he is not sure how much difference it will make.

Ginge, you asked about special needs, fact is no one knows. The big ones were going to be visual impairment and epilepsy. The visual impairment he has managed to fix and he sees very well. Epilepsy can always appear. slight cerebral palsy is possible (possibly his hand?)as are specific problems such as dyslexia. we just need to wait and see. We will know a lot by he time he is a year old.

lilyloo · 04/07/2008 13:32

Thanks for rice cake tip dd loves them and they don't make any mess

lilyloo - got tchibo highchair up today and it is smaller than I remember. DD will be fine to go in it now. Can't wait to try her, she is asleep at the mo so will try later...

Got DD weighed again today and is 14 lbs 4 ozs. She seems to be putting weight on just slower than usual I guess. But not going to baby clinic for a good few wks now.

Madmouse - glad osteopath went well.

Hi to everyone else!!

fillybuster · 04/07/2008 15:28

hi all, hope you're all having a good friday?

lucky - lovely hair

mixedmama - hi darling Tesco sell a 'value' range hand-blender for £4.97...mashing does work ok but takes forever whereas a handblender takes all of about...oh...20 seconds to do the same job! So probably worth the fiver investment if you can stretch to it!!

Uggh...brain not working at all as ds1, who normally sleeps quite well, has had me up at 4am, 6am and 6am the last 3 nights respectively. He has gone back to sleep each time after a bollocking from me, but of course I haven't So now am feeling v knocked out and sore-throat-y (sure-fire fillybuster sign of not enough sleep!) as dh and I are never in bed before midnight....[yawn emoticon]...

Hugs to all, keep on having fun with weaning! I've just made a batch of roasted yellow and red pepper (with the blackened skins carefully peeled off after cooling, 'natch) and roast aubergine puree...how poncey is that?!! ....am quite [proud in a smug plum baby foods way emoticon] about that one! xxx

gingeme · 04/07/2008 16:19

Afternoon ladies.
Thanks madmouse. Only being nosey
I got roughly 4 hours sleep last night not because of ds though because I had to ring the police because of my neighbours abusive husband(soon to be ex husband) was trying to knock her door down about midnight. I had to make a statement and everything. Then just as I was dropping off ds5 decided to wake for his bottle .
I am soooooooooooo tired today.
Well we had my first laof today made by my bread maker and it was yummy yummy
So much lighter than shop bought.
Got ds's school fete tommorrow.I'm helping on the lucky dip stall. Not to taxing for my tired brain
A BBQ on Sunday for my friends birthday. Hope the weather holds.
Monday mt big boys are coming down.
Busy busy busy.
Have a good weekend all. xxx

susiemj · 04/07/2008 16:37

Hi all,

Sorry - random personals due to visitors, but I do like to check in!

Lucky - great colour and cut.

MM - glad osteopath was good. sorry about crap night.

Pera - oh no you're not the only one! We've just gone through a period of DD waking somewhere between every 20 mins and an hour and a half (sh'd been ill). Just about got her back to twice a night now. Phew> I thought I was going to lose it.

Sabela is SCOFFING porridge for Britain. I had to give her a second bowl last night. Then was difficult to settle. Visitors or too much podge? Banana, apple and plum as well as tomatoes all acceptable now here. Potato, sweetpotato and pear not so much. Seem to be going more down the puree route here although I do give her things to nibble.

Does anyone/everyone esle mix their fruits/veggies with a bit of milk or rice or something? And has anyone tried any fish or meat. In my NHS leaflet it says to but I'm a bit scared!

Filly and all! - hope you sleep. have fun with food!

perapera · 04/07/2008 17:02

Hi everyone

Great to hear it's not just me (I mean DD) waking up in the night! Not that I want other people to be tired but it's nice to know I'm not alone...I think I'm kind of used to it though. I met a friend yesterday whose baby usually sleeps from 7 till 6am (which I would LOVE), and she was complaining how exhausted she was having to get up at 6!

Definitely agree that there is a lot of pressure to get the baby sleeping through - it's one of the first questions people ask - after the baby's name, but before the mum's name!

I'm going to get the No Cry Sleep book I think - anything's got to be worth a try (within reason...)

Hope you're all enjoying the sun (if it's sunny where you are). It's boiling here! Unfortunately we are going to go and sit in the laundrette.

simpson · 04/07/2008 18:06

Hope everyone had good day. Just put DD down to bed she is knackered and been awake since 2.30.

Filly - am very impressed with your purees will have to get some ideas of you!!

lilyloo - put DD in the highchair and she loved it!! But I have to be careful as she tends to slump to one side.

Mixed mama - I second filly I got cheap blender from argos about £4/5.Worth its weight in gold. Got it when DS was 6 mths and its still going strong.

Gingeme - enjoy w/end and school fete. Bet you are looking forward to seeing your big boys!!

Susie - glad Sabela enjoys porridge! Enjoy your visitors.

perapera - I know what you mean!! What really annoys me is after asking LO's name they sraight away ask "are they good" as if a LO is deliberately going to be bad!!

LuckySalem · 04/07/2008 19:10

Thanks for all the notes about the hair everyone. I'm not too sure yet, I think it makes me look like a boy so i've been hair product shopping.

Pera - DD isn't sleeping through anymore. She used to but now she's waking every few hours. Last night she woke at 1 REALLY happy chirping away and sang herself to sleep after an hour but a couple of hours later she was wide awake again crying for a feed. I'm assuming she's having a growth spurt.

I'm knackered so sorry for not replying individually but I just can't concentrate much.

simpson · 04/07/2008 19:17

Lucky - hope you have a better night tonight. We are watching saw4 tonight. Think I might be cowering behind cushions!!

lilyloo · 04/07/2008 20:45

simpson glad she likes the highchair

Gingeme busy weekend here too !
We have two partys for dc's tom and then dd1 in her first ballet show on Sunday and then we are going out to tea for sis birthday.

Susie not tried any meat yet as still have loads of fruit/veg to try. Think dd not very keen on broccoli which is ine of the only veg we all like so she better get used to it! I only mix mine with boiled water.

I have sweet potato/parsnip to try tom.

Have good weekend everyone am off for early night , hope you can catch up Gingeme and fingers crossed for all us ns (none sleepers) mums.

OP posts:
lilyloo · 04/07/2008 21:11

Ohh Gingeme is it time consuming though to make the bread ?

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 04/07/2008 21:32

just on the bread making, we have a machine but the bread is always really heavy/dense, what did you do gingeme?
not time consuming at all lily.

right off to bed....

madmouse · 04/07/2008 22:34

I love my bread machine (panasonic - the best). If bread is heavy experiment with amount of yeast and type of flour, you may also be adding too much water.

Lily, it takes no time at all, just put in all the ingredients in the right order and switch on. The best programs take 4 hours or more though, but nothing for you to do

justkeepswimming · 05/07/2008 05:52

madmouse - can't remember what make i've got but i will persist. i love the idea of it, the smell of it baking, the timer thing so i can have fresh bread in the morning but...so far not a hit with dh or ds and i've been disappointed shop bought wins here so far!

well i am on here before 6 again, but happy about it! ds2 slept 7-5.30!
sadly ds1 didn't go to sleep until nearly 9 and i can hear him stirring, may try to get him back to bed....

mixedmama · 05/07/2008 09:06

Hello all.

Thx filly and simpson will be getting myself one of those, just been really lazy.

Sorry everyone is having hard nights, I hope it improves soon.

We are off to a bowling party today - bit about exactly what ds1 will be able to do but will nice to see some friends.

Then my friend is having a bday gathering this evening. We met at ANC with Ds1 so her LO is same age and they play quite nicely together.

mixedmama · 05/07/2008 09:07

BTW filly very impressed with your pepper and aubergine puree I may have a go myself. My fave is courgette gratin from Annabel Karmel DS1 loved it.

simpson · 05/07/2008 12:12

Hopefully everyone had a better night last night. Fingers X

We are taking DCs to a model village this afternoon if the weather holds out. There is supposed to be rain...

madmouse · 05/07/2008 12:34

jks that fresh bread in the morning thing is a hoax used to sell breadmakers , you can't actually slice hot bread, it needs to be lukewarm or cold. And bread baked on the timer is usually inferior as the yeast starts work before the program starts and it just does not work well.

Nathan seems to have decided that 6am is hte new waking up time (after going back in after feed at 4.45) so I decided to have it out with him. Sent shattered dh (first week in ministry) to the spare room and did pat and put down until Nathan gave in at 6.50, when we both slept another hour.

Nathan was hungry when we were having dinner last night, so i tried some mashed bananas. He seemed to love the flavour (huge smile) but struggled to work out where to put it. But some went in, so that is progress. after three spoons he turned his head away, so we stopped. it has to be fun at this stage.

Kelix · 05/07/2008 21:13

AngeChica - Thanks for tips herd about the Sea nightclub, is that the one on a boat? I would rather do pubs than clubs but dont think the rest of the girlys will agree Will probably end up in some cheesy disco bar

suziemj - I mix fruit (banana usually) with baby rice as my DD refuses to eat it on its own, seems to go down well either a little of her milk or sometimes even water. Also have given DD meat (in the form of Hipp organic jars ) also pureed a little home made shepherds pie which she seemed to like.

DD stayed with Nanna last night and apparently was a little angel although I'm not sure she could be anything but in my mothers eyes! Late night for me tho (dirty beers fault lol) am very sleepy today. Luckily DD seems to be too so hopefully we can all get a good nights sleep.

Hope everybody is having a nice weekend

simpson · 05/07/2008 21:16

Well, took DCs to a model village today. DS LOVED it. His little face was such a picture!! He was so excited he did not know what to look at first the model fire station or the tiny boats in the harbour etc. They even had a little train ride to go on that went round everything. DD was an absolute star in her buggy. The last couple of days we have had the seat totally up right for her and she loves looking and smiling at everyone, nosy little thing that she is.

DH back at work tomorrow boo hiss!!

MIL who was in too much pain to get on plane with bad back a couple of weeks ago and come and see her new grand daughter for first time decided instead to get on plane by herself complete with heavy suitcase and go to Scotland to see her sister. When she should have been with us. DH only finds out as he phones his sister after getting no answer from MIL for several nights to make sure she is ok. Grr...

Kelix · 05/07/2008 21:37

Just a quick question, what size nappies are your little ones in ATM?

LuckySalem · 05/07/2008 21:53

Kelix - DD is in size 3 but I think we're gonna have to move her up soon. Little pudding that she is.

Had a bit better sleep last night but i'm exhausted as have been at my mum's all day helping them list items on ebay.

Am just checking here and FB and going to bed.

simpson · 05/07/2008 21:57

kelix - my DD is in size 3. Only been in them a couple of weeks though. However we had a HUGE leakage problem just before bed...

Kelix · 05/07/2008 22:17

My DD just gone into size 4 pampers (they seem a little big but size 3 were getting a bit small).
Worked out quite well actually because Asda have boxes of size 4 and 4+ for £8 (bargin), it just made me wonder as most of the mothers with size 4 or 4+ nappies in there trollys seemed to have much older children with them? Maybe they were buying for other LO but my DP seemed to think they were going to squeeze the older kids into them as they were so cheap lol!!
