Ooo - I'm another bread machine fan. I have some friends who try and live without working . They saved loads of money working as computer geeks and now have a smallholding. They calculate the cost of everything. Apparently, the cost ofa bread machine loaf of bread is 55p including all electricity etc.

AngeChica · 06/07/2008 21:50

Have just eaten far too much sorbet while watching the tennis. Fat free but loads of calories. What a game though!!!

simpson · 06/07/2008 21:55

defo best final ever!! Gutted we have to wait another year for Wimbledon again but football season starts soon, that will occupy me!!

nicky6 · 06/07/2008 22:08

whats best for sore bottoms??

LuckySalem · 06/07/2008 22:17

Nicky - Fresh air!! Or sudocreme (someone said about another cream but I can't remember the name, it was one I was told to use on my tatoo)

simpson · 06/07/2008 22:30

Susie - A RL friend recommended Avent Magic cream to me when DS had a sore bum.It was fab. If sabela has had it for a while might be worth trip to docs incase its thrush. (only if she has had it for 3or 4 days - don't want to worry you otherwise!!)

Kelix · 06/07/2008 22:45

NIcky - Sudocream is great can def reccomend, along with fresh air when possible

Agree with all the tennis fans - great final, not really a tennis fan myself although after watching that final may have been converted.

We had a lazy day here too, with crappy weather. Only went out to the shop in the car which took a whole of 10 mins.

DD still rolling like mad, she can roll both ways and back now - surprising how far she can move by just rolling and shuffling. Still unsteady sitting up tho. She is more than enjoying her food still having two meals a day savoury and pudding (usually fruit) and she is now getting the hang of drinking water from a two handled cup - although most does end up on floor! Just thought you all might like an update

Been looking at going away for a few days as so many of you seem to be doing (I was getting jelous ) think I'm gonna leave it til September when school starts as most holidays half in price that week.

Anyways hope everyone is well, going now cos I'm rambling! (blames being at home all day for long post)

LuckySalem · 06/07/2008 23:07

Hey guys - Thought you'd like to see some updated piccies of Aaliyah

here

Kelix · 07/07/2008 00:32

LuckySalem - She is beautiful, great pics

mixedmama · 07/07/2008 08:36

Morning everyone.

I agree about the tennis - I have never been interested but after yesterday i am a convert and gutted I didnt watch the whole tournament.

Food: DS2 is now having two meals a day, porridge in the morning and made some potato puree (with some tomatoes), he has had squash and have some courgettes and things in the cupboard so will get on and do those.

does anyone know if cheese is ok? and what about weetabix, was thinking of alternating the breakfast.

Lucky - glad you are gettign away, you really needed it I think enjoy.

We are off to Turkey for a whole month at the end of July and cannot wait, which neatly takes me on to the subject of bread. I am not a huge bread fan, but in Turkey we have bakeries that only bake bread all day long and we buy bread fresh at brekkie time, then fresh at lunchtime and fresh for dinner and it is always warm and smells so lovely. Mmmmmm.

simpson · 07/07/2008 10:16

Lovely pics Lucky.

Had pants night last night but not due to DD. DH woke me as he got up for work at 3, DS woke me at 5 singing nursery rhymes, next door woke me at 7 with TV on VERY loudly. I gave up then! But DD slept from 6.15pm till 8am!!!!!

Am hoping DH will have the DCs fr a bit this afternoon when he gets back from work and give me a rest.

ATM DD is "talking" to the TV, it is Jeremy Kyle on. Definate girl, me thinks!!

nicky6 · 07/07/2008 10:28

had sore bottom for about a week poor thing almost yelped last night for final nappy change before bed - its just she is doing about 10 poos a day may take her to get it checked tomorrow

i have tried sudocrem and kamilsoan and fresh air - although that ended with just a load of poo everywhere!!!

simpson · 07/07/2008 10:30

oopps have just realised it was you not Susie asking about sore bum!! Sorry!! You can tell the tiredness is getting to me!! Sorry Nicky!!

Kelix · 07/07/2008 11:35

Simpson - sorry to hear you had a rubbish night. Good that DD slept right through tho

mixedmama - was also thinking about weetabix, the only thing I read somewhere was that it mat fill little tums very quickly without giving them everything they need from the meal so I was thinking maybe adding some pureed fruit or something? As for cheese my DD has had food with cheese in and I looked in the birth to 5 book and cant see anything which says they shouldnt have it? It is suggested as one of the first 'finger foods' so I presume its OK (dont take my word alone tho, others may know something I don't).

nicky6 - might be worth getting DD checked just for piece of mind. I lay DD on an old towel when she needs a little fresh air - just incase. My nephew had simular in a few months ago and it turned out to be nothing but the poor lad was in agony.

Having another lazy day today. DP is on way home due to the weather (hes a builder/gardner & also a bit of a sugarlump lol) so we all just gonna watch rubbish TV and not do much else

mixedmama · 07/07/2008 11:45

I cant wait to finish work... DH is off today so just wanna go home and chill out. Am wondering whether he has still got the Dc or if he took them off to his mums (which is highly likely).

Oh had some news actually. DS1 has been offered a place at a local childrens centre. I really liked it when I went there... it is a little no frills but all of the sparkly, gleaming shiny brochure ones I have looked at have not really made that good an impression. They have said they will be looking at baby places in January and that DS2 will likely be offered a place as he will have a sibling there. Also when DS1 gets his free allowance from the gov he can stay here and I just pay for wrap around service if I need it. They only offer ft tho but she said i can pick him up whenever i like and the ft costs here and the same as part time elsewhere. My cousin who works in a nursery actually said to me that out of all the ones she had worked in the local authority childrens centres were the best due to ongoing funding etc. My mum is coming with me tomorrow to have another visit and iron the details and give me another opinion. So exciting.

lilyloo · 07/07/2008 12:00

Had a rubbish night here back to two hourly wakes and feeds again. I give up i don't know what to do and dp getting tired and cranky with the 5/6 am starts as well.

Dd doesn't want to be put down today , think she overtired.

I can't get online at the bank and my card got refused at supermarket so had to walk to cash machine in pouring rain to get cash which worked Anyone else have Halifax ? Is it my card or them ?

Sorry rant over !

Afternoon all,

Don't know what has come over me this afternoon (prob a few nights of GOOD sleep as opposed to waking up 3 times for god knows how many months) but have felt inspired and made lots of ...... FAIRY CAKES! . Not like me at all to get into tthis baking business, but now have a whole pile of yummy cakes.....will prob distribute to my neightbours...(oooh, I sound like someone who belongs in the WALTONS era

Lilylo/Simpson - can you try and rest during the day?

MM - hope the visit goes well.

fillybuster · 07/07/2008 16:03

Hi all,

No time for personals as due to feed T, but just wanted to quickly wave at everyone

Am feeling hugely poo due to first period in 15 months and stinking head cold both arriving at the same time....can barely blearily focus on anything and am struggling in charge of a toddler and baby, quite frankly..!

Just reading the nappy discussion made me realise I had totally cocked up as I just bought size 4's at boots cos we're totally out of nappies....having said that, maybe they'll fit as T is definitely filling her size 3s altho I suspect we may have leakage issues....

OK, got to run, hugs to all xxx

LuckySalem · 07/07/2008 16:45

Lilly - So sorry to hear your back to those sleeps. You still BFing Lilly? Can you try stretching out her feeds slowly?
Also when she's feeding at night can you tell if she's feeding loads or just a little. If it were just a little i'd be tempted to leave her for one or two "feeds" at night. See if she can get herself back to sleep.

In the meantime sleep when she sleeps, even if its just for 2 hours here and there.

I will say though DD went to sleeping through but started waking up again through the night a couple of weeks ago so maybe there is a growth spurt going on? DD was I think around 22/23 weeks when this started.

Sorry I've not really replied to anyone else but i'm knackered due to having what I think is another cold on the way, Just felt I had to try to help Lilly in some way as I know how it feels to not get any sleep.

lilyloo · 07/07/2008 16:55

Hi thanks

Yes i am still bf and i fear it becoming a comfort thing rather than a need to feed as she is literally sucking for few min before she goes back to sleep. I have tried not feeding her , dp going to her in case it me and milk association but then rather than go back to sleep in few min she then get's all stressed out and cries for ages! But i know if i percevere with the not feeding it will prob be better in long run it's just too easy to give in when you sooo tired!

I not sure what to do she only catnaps in day but can't really nap then with dd1 and doing ds school run and i know i should get early nightwhen she goes down at 7 but i love to get some time away from dc's for couple hours before i turn in.

I think it's partly due to her not getting routine in day too but it's a nightmare with getting other two too anfd from school/pre school i am constantly waking her up!

I have got the 'no cry ' book so am going to study it tonight. I didn't really want to go the sleep training route but i am not having another ds with no sleep for 3 years!

Amani amazing what a good nights sleep can do !
Lucky , Filly sorry to see you feeling rubbish too hope your both feeling better soon!

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/07/2008 16:56

If she's feeding for comfort (can't believe i'm suggesting this) how about a dummy?

LuckySalem · 07/07/2008 16:57

Or (and this is another that shouldn't really be suggested but) a bottle just before bed?

lilyloo · 07/07/2008 17:07

Lucky she has a dummy already !

I have tried the bottle through the night to see how much she is drinking so i know it's not much but not before bed i could try that and see how she goes. Thanks it's good to just sound off and don't want to start another thread which i know will trun into bf v bottle and all that goes with it. You never get any bloody practical advice

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 07/07/2008 17:19

Yeh I know its a pain.

Don't try formula if you don't want to. But it may be what she needs if you can get a full 7/8 oz into her then you may get at least 5 hours sleep or it may not work at all. Hope something gives for you though.

lilyloo · 07/07/2008 17:25

Fingers crossed Lucky. DP gave her some on Sat so i could have lie in but then she had gone from 5am when i fed her until 9 and still only drank 3 0z formula which i think is because she is topping up all night, she is never really hungry.

I hope it's not me that gives first
