Someone he speaks to on his police forum, in the same force, passed last week and had their appointment for 2nd August, so hopefully not too far from that date.

If he were in Cheshire he may have been doing his first 10 weeks of probation with my DH as he's a tutor. Glad he's got in and hope its everything he wants it to be.

Sal22 · 19/05/2008 16:05

congrats to your dp, vs!

jenniejennie · 19/05/2008 16:31

Hi Everyone,

First time I have managed to log on to the internet since the birth. Its suchy hard work being a mum!!! My baby is called Elian George not Euan, its a Welsh/Hebrew name pronounced El eee an.

Hope all you other new mums are not toooooo tired.

Jennie

scorpio1 · 19/05/2008 16:55

VS - does he get a uniform??

DH is off to try out for firefighter tonight, only retained htough not for a proper job. PHWOARRRRRRRR

Mimi ok doc said; just carry on as we are, we are doing everything poss. and i flashed the whole of the waiting room my nipple .

Denny185 · 19/05/2008 19:41

Unfortunately the uniforms are nothing to get excited over any more. They were changed a while ago - now in cargo trousers and something very similar to a cycling top. The days of bobbies in a shirt and tie have gone

VictorianSqualor · 19/05/2008 20:06

Cargo trousers and cycling top?!?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
At every force??

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 19/05/2008 20:11

doesnt sound very hot to me

DH may get a uniform, phwoar!!! has to get in first though.

moominsmummy · 19/05/2008 20:28

oh god. just had the most hideous bedtime ever

DH is away tonight for hospital check up - so first night on my own with both boys. DS1 started playing up at bedtime just as DS2 woke up and started wailing for food. Just managed to limp through story time with DS2 attached to boob but then DS1 started getting tearful and wanting his Daddy - and he told me he was really really sad - and I know it's cos he feels pushed out cos DS2 is here. tried my hardest to cope with both of them but DS2 was screaming with wind pain.

one moment i would feel desperately sorry and heartbroken for ds1 and all cross with ds2 for crying, then the next minute i'd feel cross with ds1 and sorry for ds2. most of all i just feel like a crap mum.

please tell me it gets easier...

VictorianSqualor · 19/05/2008 20:50

Much easier MM.
And try not to worry about DS2.
Remember unless he is in pain or needs feeding, it's perfectly fine (and sometimes necessary!) to put DS2 down to sort out DS1.
I try to put my eldest two (Especially ds1) before the baby as much as possible, makes for a great relationship in the future and baby doesn't really remember it, whereas it's more likely to affect the older ones if you are constantly having to put them second.
I promise you'll soon be an old hand at though

Hi all, I'm so slack at keeping up at the moment, it has just taken me 15 mins to find you all. Henry is still suffering from colic, apparently he is slightly lactose intollerant so on C&G comfort milk which helps but doesn't solve the problem. He is certainly keeping me busy. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their LO's

must try harder to keep in touch

Sal22 · 20/05/2008 09:30

Morning all. Hope everyone's having a good day, and M2B and Moominsmummy, hope your week picks up from today onwards!

I need some excitement in my life, so VS, if you've got a list of potential flings yet, list them here and we can vote . Only because we care .

Dh's working from home today, so great as "home" earlier than usual. However, I just found out he ran out of his thyroid meds at the weekend, so sent him to the dr's to get repeat prescription. Now he's going to be all moody again for a day or two until his hormones settle. Urgh, it's like having a full grown child sometimes...

Today is clinic day, so I'm curious to find out how much weight he picked up since last Tuesday. Not that I'm that fussed to be honest, he looks like a little budha as it is.

Mollyfloss · 20/05/2008 09:35

Hi everyone,

Mum2B & Moomsin, hope you have better days today.

Does anyone know where I can get one of those black and white surround books to put in the pram?

Sal22 · 20/05/2008 09:40

molly - I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but saw it on Amazon and thought it looked nice.

scorpio1 · 20/05/2008 09:59

just saying hi i was so tired last night i cried but all better now. think i felt sorry for myself cos dh didnt get in until 10pm, Jamie wouldnt sleep, and Millie is under the weather because of her cold, she cried alot and fed for a whole hour, until 9pm, but then went through until half 4!!!!!

sagitta · 20/05/2008 10:57

Hi all. Sorry I've not been concentrating on the thread, its been a tough few days.
I had to rush dawdle off (it takes a while to get a toddler and a baby ready to go out, doesn't it? still forgot spare outfit and nappies for DD2 who had to end up naked apart from DD1's coat after a wee and poo disaster) to the emergency clinic on Saturday after having had a fever and stomach pains for 24 hours, to find out I had suspected appendicitis. Waiting for it to come back and then I have to go to A&E and have it out . Then nine visitors all of Sunday, and only six hours sleep since then.
Unfortunately all the pain and fever thing happened the first time I had to do a bedtime on my own, so it was all pretty awful. Now DD2 has a cold and isn't sleeping.
But happy news is that today I managed to do the breakfast/ nursery run all on my own! My mum is back this afternoon, and then DH has all next week off so hopefully I'll catch up on some sleep then.

Hope everyone else is OK - sorry to hear you are upset, mum2babyroo - its a really tough time at the beginning, isn't it?

TLSM · 20/05/2008 11:10

I am so glad I have come on today to read how everyone is getting on its nice to know there are other people out there with the same problems and woes

Sagitta I missed the nursery run twice last week doesnt help that DS1 has been refusing to go and screaming all the way there and then not letting me leave!

Moominsmummy I know how it feels on Thursday I cried for about 1/2 an hour because I felt sorry for DS1 after a horrid bedtime my DH decided to get in the bath just as I was putting DS1 to bed whilst up there DS2 (who was downstairs in his rocker DH was looking after him until he went off for a bath!!!) started cring so I rushed the end of DS1 book then out and down the stairs when I had sorted DS2 I went back up to DS1 and he was a sleep!

I have also given up BF which was sad as I really wanted to this time but having a screaming baby for 2 weeks made me think twice I now at least have 5 minutes to myself!

Right need to pick up DS1 from nursery chins up all x

Scampmum · 20/05/2008 11:32

Oh dear, it's not easy, is it? Bedtime is definitely the worst time of the day - DH can rarely get home for it and DD1 is excellent at disguising the moment at which she stops being genuinely upset and starts milking my guilt as much as possible. "I'm SAD I want another story!". We are getting jacksh1t sleep here as well (see this thread) so am barely coping but mainly taking it all out on DH who is also depressed, tired, snappy and critical! My, what a happy household. At least the sun is out again today, and DH took DD1 to nursery so did get some sleep from 8ish to 9.45 with DD2 propped up on me. I must say in general I find the tug-of-love aspect really hard - contrary to all those people who said 'don't worry, you'll just grow a whole new heart for the new one' - yes, but I won't grow 24 new hours in every day, will I?

I keep losing this thread - when does a thread drop off your 'threads I'm on' list - is there a time limit to posting or something?

Big hugs to all, and M2BR please don't beat yourself up. Do call as many people as you can and don't worry about them making you feel bad, they just want to help. And like the others have said, 2 weeks is loads better than nothing. If you do decide to carry on, I found 3 weeks was when it got much easier so that should be a positive!

TLSM, we are getting a lot of 'I don't want to go to nursery, I need to stay at home with Mummy and Baby Eve' too. She's OK when she gets there but it makes me feel really bad.

Scampmum · 20/05/2008 11:33

ps congrats VS DP! Am sure you can get him a 'proper' uniform from a costume shop... although as I recall unlike myself you're not someone whose sex life needs a boost - anyone else not back in the saddle? My lochia still hasn't stopped, can't believe it! Sure it wasn't this long last time.

Scampmum · 20/05/2008 11:34

ps again (brain not functioning) Sagitta and hope you are OK!!

scorpio1 · 20/05/2008 12:34

Oh i hope all the rest of you are ok. For those whose babies have snuffles - get some saline drops for nose and prop their mattresses up, or even put to sleep in car seat. Put drops in just before a feed.

about giving up the BF - but if you are happier then so is everyone iyswim

VictorianSqualor · 20/05/2008 12:50

For those who lose the thread if you put it as 'watched' it doesn't disappear

OP posts:
moominsmummy · 20/05/2008 14:32

scampmum - lol at the extra 24 hours!

TLSM - can't believe your DH had a bath himself at bedtime!! My DH was planning to go out friday night to wet the baby's head - but it's where we used to live so he would be staying over there. after last night's meltdown I have now informed him that this will not be happening this week.

KnitterInTheNW · 20/05/2008 14:52

Hi all! Long time no post...

My little man's feeling sorry for himself today, after having his 1st jabs yesterday. He's slept loads though and I've managed to get as much done around the house in a few hours as I normally manage in a week! Went & got him weighed this morning and he's now 9lb 13, seems to be bigger every day. My gold top's clearly doing it's stuff.

I nipped out to Sainsburys last night without him for the first time, it was the most stressful supermarket trip ever. I knew he was fine at home with his daddy but it just felt all wrong going out without him... hoping next time will be a little easier!

Hope everyone's well and that those having stressful times get easier soon.

Sal22 · 20/05/2008 14:57

I'm seriously impressed with all of you that cope not only with the new one, but also keep the others happy! DH has to really go away for a week for work, but I've been nagging enough so that he's now postponed it until end of May, when his mom is visiting us... But seeing as you all cope so well with keeping everyone happy and dry and fed, I've now started feeling a bit guilty... Oh well, it'll pass

Had baby weighed, he's picked up just more than 400 grams in this last week! Going to have his mom's hips then... Poor thing!
