Peachy, as you well know, she's a complete moron. I'm amazed at you keeping your calm with her, but probably just as well, she probably would have liked the extra attention if you lost it. And to Bas. Good little boy!

VictorianSqualor · 17/06/2008 20:12

What gets me really at these people advising formula top-ups is that if Bas is just slow at gaining weight, giving him formula top-ups won't make him eat more!
He'll just cut down his breast feeds to make allowances so he eats the same amount anyway which is what they don't tell you.
Formula top-ups only really 'work' if baby isn't feeding well, but is willing to up their intake.
Just take it a day at a time Peachy and see what the Paeds say, like PaL said, each bottle is only one bottle.
Try and focus on his breastfeeds being another great feed that you managed to give him against the odds instead of the bottles.

Peachy! Where do they get these harridans? Don't let them bully you!

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 09:20

[shcok] Peachy. Don't let them bully you, and good one Bas

Mimi had her first injections yesterday too; she weighs 11lb 1oz now. Though she is 99th centile for height 50th weight.

I got fluc from him, no issues, just said i want this and HV said to give it to me, and that was all! also taking Micronor now (mini-pill)

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 09:36

I thought last night- surely if he's averaged 1.5 oz a week fior 3 weeks, then this weeks 3oz is a doubling?

they're all barmy. if hva asks about appt, am going to tell her none of her business.

What bothers me is- they all rave about how strong he is. he has total head control and has had for weeks, we've abandoned the baby chair as he propelled himself out twice (its up to 6 months and did the others past that), and he rolled over for hva yesterday.

now, forgive me, but starving babies aren't usually superfit are they?

Am only allowing attempts on bottle as dh wasther sad that Bas wouldnt take it from him and dh has been finding me bf hard going (as dh likes to do lots for Bas). I am trying to see it as a positive thing for their relationship rather than a negative failure implication of me.

What I detest is hva's implication that I dont care enough- i take him for weekly weighings without being asked, I do everything I can. I as almost in tears a few weeks back but sheoo busy parading the other mums singing rymes to notice me in the corner.

Have looked in the red book and f he doesn't shoot up theyre going to refer to cardiac paeds because iof the heart murmur, she did say August was a ong wait (I knew that). TBH I wish they'd just go ahead- surely a heart is too important to mess about with?

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 09:37

(sorry for whinging!)

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 09:38

He sounds fine - all that movement, etc and yes you are right that is a doubling

She sounds like a first class bitch, tbh. Can you moan about her? Complain?

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 09:40

I was considering that Scorpio, only reason I haven't- well two-

  1. she runs the baby group and I really like meeting the other mums there, only until hols though so could kick off after that
  1. I complained about a previous HV (she was rude and kept discussing my details with my sister), dont want to be labelled awkward (coz I already am with school )
scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 09:55

But imagine if you were a first time mum, prone to PND and you got treated that way?? It has upset you and you know about babies now, iyswim.

If you can brave it out until holidays, complain. She should be supportive and encuraging, not ignoring you or making you feel shit, when you clearly are not and clearly ARE concerned about your baby's wellbeing.

You can claim postnatal you know.......

I have J home all day today, so far he broke my black sky box internt thing (modem?)but i fixed it , terrorising the kittens and waking mimi up.

Mimi did 10-730 again today, i miss feeding her in bed though i really do. it was so lovely; a dark room, my husband next to me, and a little snuffly warm baby feeding.

I deffo want another baby!

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 10:06

Well done on fixing the modem- i just point confused looking at it when dh is nearby, then it gets done

which is pathetic really as I used to be good at that stuff pre-dh

bit like i wont drive distancs now but used to be off everywhere in my little mini, and wont change oil now but in the past turbo charged an engine...... wierd

VictorianSqualor · 18/06/2008 10:31

'd be pretty pissed off that they were focusing on Bas' weight gain and not his heart TBH.
Lets hope all goes great with the Paeds and you can tell her to stop bothering you.

I was abusy little bee last night. Alexander (full name, telling off name) decided that he would fall asleep at 8:45, go to bed and sleep til midnight. From which time he would wake up every hour for a ten minute feed, be konked out and refuse to take anymore, then wake up about 45 minutes later.
At about 4am, I'd had enough and was worried he was going to wake DP up so I came downstairs and left him on the floor in the living room whilst I cleaned the oven, made DD' packed lunch, ironed DP's shirt, got all the breakfast stuff out and marinaded some chicken.

Little shit then decided to go back to sleep for another hour, wake up again, go back to sleep for half hour and has been wide awake gurgling at me laughing, and talking baby tosh ever since.

Tired? Moi? I did think of you though when I was up Sagitta and Scamp!

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 10:34

lol @ marinating chicken

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 10:35

cleaned oven???? is that possible then?

actually dh cleaning cupboards due to exploding chcolate soya carton phenomenon

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 10:37

oh. just had text from DH - his labourer has been a bit slack and not turned up for work for 2nd day, DH has sacked him - but he is engaged to my best friend....i hope she won't be funny now.

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 10:51

Ouch!

Can see your dh's point though

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 10:54

i know, peachy, eek.

But he has lost them money and he was meant to go somewhere to finish other job today & hasn't, DH cannot go he is tied up, so its pissing the employer off, looks bad on dh and this employer is them ain bloke around here for work. He has kept dh in work for nearly 2 years now.

They have rung him countless times and no reply, dh went to see him yesterday and he was pissed up at 4pm

TBH there are 1000 people to fill his place; its my friendship i care about, she is most wonderful friend to me.

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 10:54

We need a new thread soon

PeachyWontLieToYou · 18/06/2008 10:58

It's difficult.

I was done over by some of dh's mates years ago (although your builder deserved it, i didnt) and DH hasnt been close to them since, and when my ex-mate pal'ed up with someone d hasd issues with (to quote dh 'psychotic wife beating bastard who should be locked up in a psychiatric unit for life') it started the end of our friendship but thats not always true- the best friendships evolve and take thissort of flack, my bm and i have been close since we were 11 through all kinds of crap and hardship

scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 11:00

We have been close for ten years now, we saw her yesterday and she seemed ok, she knew her dp needed a kick up the arse.

i think she is worried about talking to him

She is working today but i will text her tonight when she ewill know.

VictorianSqualor · 18/06/2008 11:08

When I was with the kids Dad it used to be like that Scorpio, he was forever not turning up at work, going out on the lash etc.
The amount of times I had his boss' apologies to me was unreal. He worked for one of my friends DH's once as well and got sacked within days, I found out through her, the way I saw it though was that he was a prick! Hopefully your mate will be the same.
I just made my nipples bleed!!
Expressing and I got 3.5 ounces in about 5minutes, it was coming out REALLY fast, when I took the pump off I was bleeding

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 18/06/2008 11:15

at your 3.5 ounces, though ouch at bleeding!!

sagitta · 18/06/2008 11:18

So sorry you're having a hard time peachy, but well done Bas for sticking to the BFing. I hope they leave you alone - 3 0z seems fine! And you;re right, he sounds superfit, so there can't really be a problem.

Sorry you had a shit night VS - thanks for thinking of us! We were up from 3.24 until 6 something. Wish I'd had the energy to clean the oven, or do something more useful than trying to keep a dummy in A's mouth! on the plus side, i realised how ridiculous it is, and this morning went and bought newborn, small dummies and a book for A to keep her interested in the daytime and not fall asleep so much. It's working like a dream so far! DH away tonight, so its going to be tough love when she wakes up at 3.20am...

hope your night was bearable, Scamp.

Promised HV I would go to the weigh-in today, as I was in such a state last week, but I can't be bothered. If I don't go, do you think they'll set the PND watchers on me?

VictorianSqualor · 18/06/2008 12:35

Just came into the living room after making DS's lunch to discover Lex crying with what looked like a white mark on the inside of his cheek. Put me finger in his mouth wondering what it might be, blu-tac.
DS1 had thought it 'wouldn't matter' apparently.

OP posts:
Sal22 · 18/06/2008 13:19

lol VS, what a day you're having! Pretty impressive list of things you got done - never mind what time of the day - but at 4am you need a prize!!!

Sagitta, glad she's happier now in the day, I'll keep my fingers crossed for an easy night tonight.

Roelof's still got a little cold, but his coughing better, which is a relief. It was so funny yesterday, he was trying to figure out how to clean his throat. At one stage he made the strangest, loudest noise, both mil & myself jumped up to see if he's alright, lol. Staying indoors doing some long overdue admin today. R's sleeping on my shoulder now. I wish I could keep him this tiny and cute forever.

elfsmummy · 18/06/2008 13:28

Oh dear VS - Elena has already had a kernal (sp?) of sweetcorn in her nappy - and since I'm guessing that doesn't pass directly through breast milk that Eve has been suplementing Elena's diet somewhat!
