Mum2BabyRoo · 11/05/2008 14:31

Yay - we are all finally on here!

Just had the MW over for the heel test and weight measurement and my Angel has put on 70g! How good is that! [proud Mummy emoticon]

She didn't even whimper when she had the heel test - I however cried my eyes out!!

And big congrats to all those who had their babies after me!

Mollyfloss · 11/05/2008 15:14

Yay - it's great to be here!

Congrats to the new Mum's!

Chipmonkey & Mum2B: Harry & Gabriella are gorgeous!

The weather is great but I have nothing to wear! All my maternity stuff is too big or too wintry and my regular clothes don't fit yet. It's very annoying as I've looked in the shops for a couple of basics for now but it's impossible to find something that fits my current bizarre shape and that works for breastfeeding. Grr...

bashboid · 11/05/2008 17:34

I'm with you on that one Molly. None of my normal clothes fit and all my maternity trousers are now way too baggy - most annoying!
Little Oli is now 3 weeks 1 day old and getting on just fine. He's regained his birth weight and put on a few extra ounces so we have been discharged from the midwife and left to our own devices. DP went back to work last week which I was dreading as he is much better at placating Oli than me (he seems to just see me as a milking machine!) but it was in fact fine and I have got over my distress at his crying and now accepted that it is not because he hates me but because sometimes that is just what babies do. Fortunately, he is generally very good at sleeping during the night, waking around 2-2.30 and then 5.30, then sometimes going back to sleep until 9 so not suffering from lack of sleep too much.
Hope everyone else is doing well and welcome to all the new LOs that have arrived since I last had chance to come on.

scorpio1 · 11/05/2008 18:04

is it only me that feels sad we are postnatal? God i am so broody. we are already talking about it again!!

Millie is doing fine, nothing really to report here. went out last night to friends wedding reception, and had a white wine spritzer, was really nice. i did however resist the tempatation to smoke.

Our thrush has very nearly cleared up, thank god!

cyteen · 11/05/2008 18:12

Sorry to barge in, I'm not due till August but the sunny weather is making me really impatient to meet my baby - I saw this in the active conversations list and was seized with a sudden desire to see what life was like on the postnatal side and spy on all your boys' names

Congratulations everyone!

PortAndLemon · 11/05/2008 18:17

Congratulations to anyone I've missed (and Peachy's DS2's stick insects).

Bah at Esme names thread . I have been making a note of usernames of those with no taste and come the revolution, etc., etc. [...]

VictorianSqualor · 11/05/2008 21:18

Hi all, we've had a lovely weekend, dontcha love this weather?
Went to the beach yesterday and had a ncie day there then stopped off at a pub for some dinner on the way home and today DP's grandads bday so we went over to their house and DP's aunt and her 2dcs (same age as my two eldest) came down from rugby and we had a nice gathering there, everyone cooing over Alex, I got a cute pic of me and him at the beach that's on my profile actually, am now sitting down to chill with a beer.

Scorpio, me too! I miss the antenatal thread, only 11 more months til ttc

OP posts:
Sal22 · 11/05/2008 21:57

Oh, how I love all the baby pics (ok, moms not too bad either ). Hmm, so maybe one more after this one then...

Roelof's been eating enough for ten, I suspect he's got hopes and dreams about sumo wrestling!

Went over to friends today and on the way back got stuck in traffic, so he ended up with a dirty nappy for way too long. I felt so bad when we got home and he was so red and sore. However, we had our bath (which he adores, I sit in the bath with him on my legs, then he slowly kicks his legs around and just look so relaxed ), applied nappy ointment, and now everything seems ok again. It breaks my heart when he's in pain.

Congrats Sagitta!

chipmonkey · 11/05/2008 22:34

Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore..........

scorpio1 · 12/05/2008 09:36

VS - so you have a deadline, lol! will you stop bf-ing to ttc? i am debating just using bf as contraception and just going with the flow. What do you think - i mean how effective is it, i dont want to be pg for at least 6 months yet, should i go on the pill or something till then? We havent deffo decided, just keep talking about it and dh says if we had an accident it wouldnt be the worst thing... we keep slipping up already with condoms so they are not a long term option.

the weather here is lush too; pity i have to stay so close to home for school and nursery runs etc. Jamie has an injection today

scorpio1 · 12/05/2008 10:42

am going to treat myself to some bras from here this week. they are so pretty!

TLSM · 12/05/2008 11:12

Hi All congrates to Sagitta and Carey!

I dont seem to stop at the minute I hae about 1 second to myself my DS1 is very clingy bless him screamed the place down this morning when I left him at nursery! I am now 6 lbs under my weight I was when I got pregnant and fit in all my normal clothes (but they are a size 22 so would be like tents on you lot) but I am so glad I never put on loads as I lost 4 stone at the beginning of last year and so watched myself not to put it back on! Saying that with two kids and a lazy DH (who can I add has not changed one nappy and has fed Tom twice since he was born) I suppose it makes sense I would lose the weight quickly (I put on 6 stone with Max and never lost any until last year he is 4 in june

Right will pop in on you all and tried to read up later as need to get DS1 from nursery - but welcome all to post natal

TLSM · 12/05/2008 11:12

oh and they are lovely bras Scoprio so glad the BF is still going strong

Sal22 · 12/05/2008 11:18

lovely bras Scorpio - think I'll splash out on some too - i've been going for comfort since birth and the ones I've been wearing are just dead scary if i'm honest...

VictorianSqualor · 12/05/2008 12:07

I'm not sure Scorpio, about the BFing tbh, I won't stop to ttc, but by then Alex will be prety much weaned and if he is anything like Bobby was on about two feeds a day so there won't be any protection there from bfing!
I daren't risk trying the BFing as contraception thing, I want at least six months-a year of me just being me again, I missed being able to go to gigs and things so much last time (even though I still went to babyshambles!), so we've said I'll go on the mini-pill until next year, then we'll start trying.
I blardy hate this condom lark, they're really shite ain't they?

OP posts:
PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 12/05/2008 12:33

I cant take hormonal methods so condom until vasectomy . i am broody already but dh really doesnt want more and he's given me the family we agreed on so have to respect that

my bf course taught that bf 8 timmes daily minimum essential for contraceptive purposes

Sal22 · 12/05/2008 13:00

I was quite shocked to hear (from midwife when visiting) that your chances for conceiving are a lot higher (can't remember how much more) during the first 3 months after birth (but obviously breastfeeding helps reduce this). I somehow thought your body would reduce the chances to give you a break or something. I should probably discuss this when having my six weeks checkup on Friday then...

To everyone who's got kids already (or who's had their checkup) - what happens at the checkup? I know I have to have rubella injection again (my immunisation "worked out" apparently, so not immune anymore), but that's as far as I know. Can I take ds with, as dh already taking tomorrow afternoon off to take me to specialist for something else, so don't want to annoy his employers unnecessarily (they've been great btw, but i feel a bit guilty).

elfsmummy · 12/05/2008 13:04

Oh post-natal. How exciting. Many congratulations to the last few on the safe arrival of their LOs.

We're really enjoying life here. Weather is just beautiful and Dh has his second week of paternity leave this week. It feels like we're on holiday

DD2 (Elena - don't think I ever actually said her name!) seems to be really settled. She sleeps loads. - maybe because of the heat?? but is rarely awake for more than about 40 mins. Heaven!

Just sorted out all my summer clothes so I'm afraid that the weather will now turn horrible and it will all be my fault!
