Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VictorianSqualor · 16/06/2008 17:06

periods haven't come back yet, I don't think they did with DS1 either. I don't know how this pill works in relation to your body though, if it makes it not ovulate or stops implantation or what.

Oh also, sorry Ellie!! Great news!!!

OP posts:
elfsmummy · 16/06/2008 17:26

Great news Ellie, Such a relief.

Scorpio, because you're breast feeding you can only have the progesterone only pill. Most of those you have to take at the same time each day but like PAL says cerezette is an exception. I was on Cerazette before DD1 and didn't have periods so hopefully you won't either.

I think I'm going to go for a coil, but can't decide between the hormone implanted one (mirena) or copper coil. I think we'll probably have a third but with a bigger age gap so I need something for 3-4 years.

Scamp - maternity nurse sounds like the ONLY solution to me. Really hope she helps. I hadn't appreciated that you were actually being kept awake for such long periods at night - thought she was going back to sleep betrween feeds. You must be exhausted.

scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 17:49

i would have a coil, i had one before mimi, but dont want anyone poking there yet/

will chat to doc about that other pill, thanks

PeachyWontLieToYou · 16/06/2008 19:40

I have my postnatal appt tomorrow, Dh si coming with me to back me up if they start on the weight again (I will give a bottle if and when I amready, may be soon may be not- my choice!). Fptrtunatel;y there's a fab new GP at the surgery who is very alid back about DS's weight (we saw him alst week after HVA made noises about bas beingr eally ill- very ,mild cold ). He's pro-BF, and he also listened to bas's murmur which hasn't gone away so will need further tests- eeeeek!

no idea about contraception, I'm currently on the -are-you-avin-a-larf method due to the clingy baby (don't know whether to [lol] or , would be nice to at least be able to have sex sometimes!). Can't take hormiones either, dh was going to have a vasectomy but we want to wait a little- not because there's a chance of another, there isn't in the normal course of events, Dh firm on that, but because of a convo Dh had with FIL about his Aunt who had 7 kids, one car accident alter had 3 . makes you realise.........

So i think it will be back to the damned condom for us, one day anyway.....

VictorianSqualor · 16/06/2008 20:06

locks, bollocks, shit, arse.

Periods are back, ignore what I said earlier.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 20:10

really? don't you feed more than me in the night? i fucking knew i was pre-menstrual but more [angrier] for you.

Sal22 · 16/06/2008 20:12

Ellie, that's wonderful news!!! I've been thinking of you all day.

Re contraception - I think I'll go for the mirena coil. I planned to use the pill, but was a bit doubtful of my punctuality. Might have a look at the cerezette PAL mentioned - my gp certainly didn't mention it. My appointment for the coil is early July (first available appointment, but to be honest, I don't really feel up to a whole lot of loving at the moment , so doesn't make a difference). It might be a bit of a too personal question, so please feel free to ignore - but did anyone ever have problems with a coil before? I know you can still get pregnant, but that's not the end of the world - ideally later, but we would like more kids eventually anyway.

scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 20:14

Sal - i had no probs with my mirena whatsoever, and got pg with mimi after removal so obviously fine in that way.

VictorianSqualor · 16/06/2008 20:18

I know Scorpio, I'm rather pissed off meself!
I've had a bit of backache the last few days, and was mega stressed earlier, now I know why!
At least I can get my smear booked up now though, they weren't sure when to book it for, but as I had CINIII cells before pg and had to have some cells removed so I want it checked ASAP.

ALso, is anyone else LO showing the early signs of teething? I'm really shocked about this but LEx is almost definitely teething

OP posts:
Sal22 · 16/06/2008 20:21

Nononono VS!!! We're supposed to get a break on something! Damn. [Angry] for you.

scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 20:24

Reilly started this early VS, but the actual tooth took about 7 weeks itself iyswim. I've never had a smear, they say im too young

Sal22 · 16/06/2008 20:29

VS - I have actually been wondering myself. Roelof's been chewing DH's fingers more than normal, has been dribbling loads and you can kind of feel harder/softer areas there where he's chewing. Not sure if it means anything (in R's case). I would prefer him not having teeth just yet!

Sal22 · 16/06/2008 20:33

Meant to say, thanks Scorpio. That's a relief, I'm slightly nervous about it for some reason.

scorpio1 · 16/06/2008 20:34

don't be, its really good IMO. i just have a mental block about the fiddling down there at the mo.

PeachyWontLieToYou · 16/06/2008 21:32

I think all my boys started to look like they were teething at this age Bas dows too), it rarely is- its the teeth moving ready in the gums.

Poor VS! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 6 months as ith Harry, and I was feeding far, far less then.

Just looked at some pictures we've only just got developed- stonker of Bas there, willtry and get it on MN (need to scan as on disposable camera). There's one of me at Butlins, on a night I started to have ctx but thankfully stopped as was December- everyone stared at it in horror! I looked so ill! kinda glad thatBas is the last one from that!.

Mum2BabyRoo · 16/06/2008 21:48

Oh Ellie - I am so happy for you and for your DP - what a relief!

Do any of you not use contraception and just use the withdrawal method? We do ever since I went off the pill about 6 years ago, and well as you can see have had no mishaps. As soon as we decided to have a baby, we stoped and I fell pregnant. So I am not planning on taking anything again. I reacted so badly to comig off the pill - I was a hormonal wreak for about a year afterwards and it took about 2 years for my periods to regulate themselves. Nightmare so I want no more hormonal interference. Oh and I seem to be intolerant to condoms - latex I think?

As for teething - well my 6 week old LO actually already looks like she has teeth! Such a strange look! You look closer and you realise it is gums you are looking at, so I have a feeling (a bad one at that) that she is going to be an early teether as well. Teething does not sound like fun!

eva07 · 16/06/2008 22:20

ellie, thank god!

nora was born with two teeth (front bottom) looks really cute
was a bit of a shock when we first noticed it and I was afraid she'd chew my nipple, but it's no problem, I can't feel it

PortAndLemon · 17/06/2008 00:02

We use Natural Family Planning (i.e. avoiding fertile days), more-or-less (I did get lax on actually taking my temperature, as I ovulate beautifully regularly) and never any accidents. I am twitchy about doing it when breastfeeding and not having periods, though. Once my periods return I may get a Persona and make it more "official".

DS was "teething" from around 2.5 months as well but cut his first tooth just before 6 months. DD is doing the serious dribbling and hands always in her mouth too.

chipmonkey · 17/06/2008 01:16

Ah yes, Natural Family Planning. That is our nickname for ds1!

PortAndLemon · 17/06/2008 07:39

I have to admit I wouldn't do it if another child would be a disaster (even though I do think it works as well as condoms if you do it properly, I admit cheerfully that I don't do it properly). But having tried it for two years between DS and DD it seems to work for us. I'm in the annoying camp of not dealing well with hormonal contraception, not liking condoms and getting weirded out by the coil.

When we're definitely done either DH will get the snip or I'll go for that new Essure sterilisation thing.

scorpio1 · 17/06/2008 09:14

my period arrived this morning.

(had lots of erm, accidents )

scorpio1 · 17/06/2008 09:56

i told my friend thay came back (she has bf twice for long time) and she said i cant be doing it right

How am i not? She sleeps 10-7, but i feed her whenever she wants and she has one bottle of ebm a week, normally sunday morning but i feed her as soon as i get up, so i only miss 2 hours iyswim.

feel like crying i thought i was doing it right?

sagitta · 17/06/2008 10:00

ellie - so sorry about your wedding and the awful few days you've had. glad its sorted now, hope the new wedding planning is not too stressful.

scamp - good idea about maternity nurse. my mum left the telephone number of one pinned to the wall, and sometimes it draws me over like a beacon! not called yet though...

really felt for you when you said dh was half way thro' a pint - i get that a lot too. and last week the trains were fucked, so dh spent two nights away. but things seem to be getting better - not sure why, i am still feeding 4 times a night, and A is awake for at least 2 hours a night. but she's crying less in he day, and somehow i feel better.

sagitta · 17/06/2008 10:02

of course you're doing it right, scorpio. if mimi is happy and healthy and putting on weight, you are doing it right. VS's periods are back too...everyone's body is different.

scorpio1 · 17/06/2008 10:03

Sagitta - thankyou

im glad you feel a bit better, why not call the nurse if you can afford to?

also at dh's - my friends one went AWOL for 7 hours yesterday and came home rolling drunk
