scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 09:39

oh and my nipples feel worse again, i have been daktarin after every feed and canesten me but still here. has been 5 weeks now.

PeachyWontLieToYou · 10/06/2008 09:43

dh is off sick with stomach problems, but as he works nights he can usually do the school things- its the boring evenings sat on my own (Ok with the kids) and not having a car that bugs me iyswim. but then he has to qork, he's trying to find a day job, so fingers crossed- have to say no to so many things (including my MA atm), as everyone else on a different schedule to me iyswim- part time MA classes start same time dh goes off

scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 09:46

it's hard isn't it. DH leaves the house at 7am and gets back at about 6pm. Then because he works for himself and has a team of men iyswim he is on the phone organisisng stuff, doing paperwork etc. by the time that stops the dc need to go to bed and i have done the whole lot, pretty much. he does the dishes every day and does help with bathtime but he never has time for sports day, SALT, SENCO, or anything else. He does have weekends off though when he is very hands on and does more than me

VictorianSqualor · 10/06/2008 09:48

Scorpio, you need to get the fluconazole.
Don't let them put you off any longer.
Hadn't thought about the skin-to-skin being irritating Peachy but it sounds good, I'll try it later if he starts again.

i have PN check a week today, shall i go before then? Fucking had enough of sore bastarding nipples now. sorry if TMI but the outside bits are brown and my nipple is luminous pink!

VictorianSqualor · 10/06/2008 10:05

I would, I'd go asap. It's horrid!
I'm assuming you have it inside your breasts, so even when it starts to die off on your nipples/Millie's mouth it's just coming back through the milk.

I used daktarin on my nipples as well as Lex's mouth btw, I stopped using the canesten.

thats what i thought, it is coming from somewhere. there is a good female gp at my surgery and i have the leaflet the HV gave me...

scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 10:46

the car has its first ever MOT today.....really hope its fine cos just cannot afford to pay out more for it this week, lol.

Scampmum · 10/06/2008 10:51

Hello girls. Hope all is well with everyone. Sagitta I was exactly the same as you yesterday so put everyone in the car and shipped over to a friend in Hackney. Was lovely, we got all four kids to sleep at once for at least 10 minutes and even managed to neck some wine in the garden!

Scorpio sorry to hear about your nipples, hope they get better - still so proud of you for BF!

VS had the funniest dream the other day - you were being interviewed on a boat and we were all watching you on TV, and you were talking about how you had to swim to a wedding reception in the middle of the river because the school run made you miss the boat. Then my dream turned into a map showing me that you lived in Tewkesbury just outside Oxford. The funny bit was that when I woke up I said really sleepily to DH 'I've just been dreaming about Victorian Squalor in Tewkesbury' and I think he thought I was a historical highbrow!

Eva/Peachy (I think) - we had the same, wouldn't be put down at all, DD1 refused pram always so haven't even bothered this time. Has got better at the 7 week mark (although could easily get worse again - if I've learnt one thing in my two long years of parenting...). Both DD1 and DD2 live in a sling. DD2 also gets rocked to sleep as like her sis she will cry herself into a frenzy 99% of the time and sleep 1% of the time whereupon I immediately panic and go and poke her awake again. Is now sleeping on the bouncy chair which is a massive triumph compared to the last month+!

Sal you have my most heartfelt sympathies about the MIL!!

BBM thanks for your post - I have probably not been eating enough as I'm trying to shift the weight (decided to stop weighing self as too depressing - it's just NOT COMING OFF! it was so easy last time and this time I spend all my time running around the house. Must be that I'm now in my stinking 30s.) Will just eat when I feel like it now and am sure I'll feel much happier!

Luckymummy and Denny know what you mean about DH. The other night he got up to go to spare room and I just cried 'please don't leave - it kills me that you can and I can't' - rationality (he did have to work the next day) doesn't prevail for me in those dark hours. Also sympathies on the 'poor me' DHs - DH 'had' to have a nap during DD1's nap on Sat because he'd been woken up at 5 by DD2 on Fri morning (and stayed up until 1 reading ) - DD2 wouldn't settle so we just went out! Actually had a lovely time drinking wine by the river with my brother so it all turned out OK even if I was fuming on my way to the train.

Must go, picking up DD1 early and going for a picnic in the park... looks like rain but think will brave sling/buggy instead of car anyway. Might be posting again a sodden heap at 2pm!

sagitta · 10/06/2008 11:49

Thanks for all your tips! Yesterday was tough, A didn't sleep for more than 20 mins at a time all day, and dd 1 didn't even have her normal lunchtime nap. A cried all day. but i didn't shout, or cry - even when dd1 hit A just after i got her to sleep, so feeling quite proud of myself!

And today A is cooing, not crying, doing exactly what i'd like her too. Thank fuck. Now she has got over whatever it was that was bothering her, its baby boot camp here today. Strict routines, controlled crying, no nonsense...

So sorry to hear its tough for you too Peachy - and eva, mum2. And sorry about your nips, Scorpio! Mine are just covered in snot from dd2. Nice.

scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 12:22

good luck sagitta

car went through, thank god, MOT was £53 though!!!

sagitta · 10/06/2008 12:31

at least it got through!

Denny185 · 10/06/2008 14:53

Sagitta hope all is going well in baby boot camp and your having better day than yesterday. Did DD1 sleep today and give you a bit of a break?

Scorpio to car passing it's MOT
to the continuing thrush, think VS is right it must be time to change medications if what you've been using hasn't helped.

Peachy thanks v much, thats esactly how DD2 was feeding yesterday didn't even think about bodyheat affecting them will try the muslin trick if it gets that hot again.

Hows your day going today VS?

Well camp Denny started out as a disaster am, got everything ready last night, PE bag, book bag, packed lunch, potty training bag and change bag. Should have been a doddle.

Couldn't find my purse, 45 mins later after deciding no more time to look would take money required from DH wallet.

Loaded kids into car - purse on the back of DS's car seat - I'm a fuckwit sometimes!
Anyway since then so far so good. DS been to gym tots and DD2 into creche, then DS into creche and DD2 and I went for coffee and feed in peace.

Home and DS wee'd in ptty with no early leakage (follwed it up by pooing in his pants, never mind), then we've been to school to get DD1 - still only doing half days following illness last week.

Biggest bonus of my day DD2 slept from 8.30pm till 7am

scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 14:55

are you a bit chuffed about the sleeping?!?!

Denny185 · 10/06/2008 15:34

can u guess?

scorpio1 · 10/06/2008 15:42

she beat millie! 9-6

Denny185 · 10/06/2008 15:44

I'm sure it was just a fluke and tonight it will be back to 1.30 and 5.30.

Carey87 · 10/06/2008 16:08

hi all!

Im so sorry for not keeping up with everyone and I really hope you and your lo's are all doing fab!

Ellie is doing great, putting on loads of weight, and has just started to do a few little giggles, and smiles all day long!

Is there anyone that can give me a quick breakdown of everything that has happened? (if not thenI shall just have to read the 30 pages!!)

Cxx

PeachyWontLieToYou · 10/06/2008 16:19

Just had bas weighed- only gained .5oz , I have to be extra extra strict on the dairy next week, if no gain then I am going to introduce a bottle, would rather not but thre's a cut off point I think and thre's all these tiny newborns I think are much smaller than hima nd they turn out to weigh more and its starting to stress us a bit . Will only be the one bottle a day though.

Am shattered! Enjoyed Sports day but was hard work in the ehat (was photographer for all the podium shots), Dh has been told he probably ahs a stomach ulcer and ahs been signed off for another week. dont know whether to grin that I've got extra help, or grrrr that 2.5 weeks after Uni finished and I still ahven't been able to get into a routine with various sicknesses etc.

I think the HV assistant has taken a dislike to me , she was very snidey about a few things today, and last week was bleating about the rich people who live here. FFS. I'm sorry if shre has a problem but our house is rented, my income is £44 a week carers allowance (which they have not yet started to pay me) and dh's isn't massive. She can have the DLA if she wants- if she'll take the SN. Fortunately the HV seems fine with me, it's just I think one of those instant dislike things.

OTOH they sita round being really homophobic and calling pretty people lesbians etc so am i really that bothered......

eva07 · 10/06/2008 18:31

at scampmum's dream

I wanted to try the sleep training yesterday but DP wouldn't do it. He said as she has already cried so much during the day he didn't want her to cry in the evening as well.

sagitta, again the same, dd had an extremely good day today, smiled a lot and was very quiet .

peachy for bas and your DP. if you are up for it and have time, let me know when you are in cardiff the next time. would love to see you and the boys for real

had first baby massage lesson today, was fab - and so nice to talk to other people than just DP, sometimes I really miss my friends.

PeachyWontLieToYou · 10/06/2008 21:02

Will do Eva, DH goes over ften for supplies so we can easily detour and make time for a coffee stop (Or if you're over here any time as well, people seem attracted to the local pubs and such in the summer, and the amphitheatre of course- but I swear its one for the amphitheatre and twenty for the pubs LOL)

eva07 · 10/06/2008 21:12

we already talked about visiting the amphitheatre! will definitely let you know when we go there.

just tried the sleep training, was rather anticlimactic as she was asleep after about 15 minutes and just a few shouts but this may be because she hardly sleept during the day

KnitterInTheNW · 11/06/2008 09:06

Please tell me this won't last much longer! This is the 3rd day that George has been constantly hungry, and mostly is either feeding, asleep or crying. It's very wearing and my nipples feel bruised! I'm guessing growth spurt, or at least hoping it is, at least if it is, then there'll be an end to it sooner or later...

Denny185 · 11/06/2008 09:32

They tend to do this to increase supply, could be a growth spurt, should end soon, dosen't normally last more than a few days. Not sure but think u can try expressing a couple of times a day to try and help stimulate supply aswell, I'm sure someone more knowledgable will confirm or shoot me down in flames

Got any lansinoh for the poor nips?

scorpio1 · 11/06/2008 09:34

knitter it will stop, millie did this about two weeks ago, she was on my boob constantly for 2 days. i dont know about expressing much, sorry. get some nipple cream and just carry on, you will get there!
