Ahh VS & Scorpio - you LO's are so sweet! I took a pic of Missy yesterday sleeping - looking so peaceful... (check my profile pics) wish she had been as peaceful between the hours of 2am and 6am this morning!

I wish this weather would cheer up - so miserable and all I want to do is go out for walks, etc, but when it rains every 5 min, there is just no point... I can just feel the weight creeping back on!

velbels · 03/06/2008 15:06

your baby pictures are all lovely. Peachy your HV is a classic! I keep quoting the milk line to my DH- what are they like!

all your short feeds even after DS has had his tongue tie cut we are still at hour long feeds overall it is hurting less though which is good.

It's making going out harder as there are limited places/times you can stop for that long. Even if i make it to a mum and baby group unless he starts a feed an hour before the end i'm stuck.

scorpio1 · 03/06/2008 15:44

thanks everyone everone keeps telling me i am tiny but i feel hefferish, but know i cant diet. i want to start swimming again but just means more frigging expressing.

dh has an op on friday in his mouth, under ga.

good on the weight gain peachy!

scorpio1 · 03/06/2008 15:47

vs pmsl @ westlife cd. i told dh that the other day when he rang to see how she was!

VictorianSqualor · 03/06/2008 16:35

velbels, some of Lex's feeds last an hour. If I have to get upand go though, I stop him.

At night he is much better, they take about ten minutes, except his evening cluster feed, I'm sure that's because he had a growth spurt and made me produce more plus he drinks faster now, I really hear him gulping. My breasts kill me just lately cos they are so full and he is going longer between feeds.

I was so scared last night, I put him to bed at 9pm, went to bed ,myself at 11pm and bobby woke me up at 2:45am telling me he had no pillow Went to check his room, he had obviously dreamt it his pillow was there lol, but, when I came back to bed I realised Lex hadn;t had a night feed and panicked, stroked his face which normally makes him move and he felt quite cold and didn't move, I poked him about three times, he still didn't move and my heart sank. Then he made a noise and I breathed. (he slept for another ten minutes then I forced him to take a feed by prising open his mouth cos i was in so much pain, lol!

velbels · 03/06/2008 16:52

how scary VS, i often worry when he doesn't move and he's warm! I'm glad Lex was alright.

Maybe i should try stopping some feeds as weight gain is not a problem. It's so hard to know what advice to follow as you get so much, and as a 1st timer i've got no experience to draw on.

Scorpio hope dh op goes well [hugs]

VictorianSqualor · 03/06/2008 16:55

If you need to get up and do something and you've fed him enough to keep him quiet, then I don't know how you manage not putting him down!
As long as it's only now and then you cut a feed short it won't be a problem, also if I do cut short a feed, once I've done what needed doing then I offer him again incase he is still hungry but they do comfort feed sometimes so can afford it.

OP posts:
velbels · 03/06/2008 17:03

well most of the time we're at home so the only reason to get up is to answer the door as most other things just end up waiting! The luxury of only having one child to look after. i've no idea how i'd manage a 'normal' school run let alone yours VS!

VictorianSqualor · 03/06/2008 17:06

Ha, well like I say to almost everyone IRL. Lex is my jigsaw baby, he just fitted right in (he had to!!)

Morning ladies, DD1 went to Drs yesterday she apparently had sinusitis with tonsilitis and an ear infection, could explain all the swelling. We didnt think she was that ill (the trouble with the boy who cried wolf) so feel a bit guilty for not being a bit more sympathetic.

Going over to mums today as get v bored being indoors all day and spent all yesterday in with DH in bed (on nights) and no adult conversation.

On a v happy note Aeryn slept from 7pm till 8am with only one feed at 3.30am Im sure ive just jinxed it and she'll be up 6 times tonight now.

scorpio1 · 04/06/2008 09:52

i feel very moody today. Jamie is going on & on at me, Millie was soaked through in the night (nappy leaked) so she was woken up iyswim and i was up for an hour (normally 20mins max). dh is working 7-6 at mo so no help there.

i have to go baby clinic today as well. well dont have to but i want to check her weight gain.

sagitta · 04/06/2008 10:29

morning all. DH has gone back to work today, so its the first day of my new life with two dcs! Going to my first baby group weigh in later - i'm a bit nervous as hv told me i'm about 15 years older than the other mums and probably the only one bfing...but i don't know if dd2 is back to birth weight yet, so i have to go.

dh has complained that i still have a big tummy - when will it go, do you think? i'm still in horrible (and vomit stained ) maternity clothes...

has anyone heard from soph or ellie? are they ok?

VictorianSqualor · 04/06/2008 10:33

Lex has been trying to sleep through, but I won't let him cos it hurts me too much!

I have strong let-down as it is and have to feed every few hours or my breasts leak everywhere and hurt, bloody over-supply is a bitch!

He had his last feed last night at 9ish, I put him to bed at just gone half past 9 and then woke him up at ten past four because I woke up in pain! He was fast asleep though and it took abou twenty minutes of me poking him and opening his mouth til I could get him latched on! Then he took a tiny feed (enough to satisfy me though) and slept until 8:30 this morning. I think he'd have gone til at least 6 if I hadn't woken him for a feed and might try not waking him tonight but ARGHHH the pain!!

VictorianSqualor · 04/06/2008 10:36

Sagitta your DD isn't even a month old yet!
How dare he complain, cheeky fucker.

Lex is 7 weeks and I still have a tummy. It took nigh on ten months to make the belly, it ain't gonna come off in days.

I was still in maternity clothes at about three weeks, in fact I saw a picture taken of me at two weeks the other day and I look massive, my stomach is bigger than some of you got at full-term!!lol!!

OP posts:
sagitta · 04/06/2008 10:41

mm, i thought it was a bit cheeky too. Thanks for making me feel better though! you're right, it took ages to make the tummy, so it'll be a while leaving!

Scampmum · 04/06/2008 10:59

Morning guys. I'm SO jealous of all your LO's sleeping habits! Last night DD2 fed on and off from 8-11, then 1.45, 3.45, 5.25, 7. It was even a relatively good night as she at least settled straight afterwards rather than taking 3hrs/not settling at all which is what she's been doing lately. DD1 was similar and as I recall it stopped at 4 months when she went 11-6ish. Boobs do get full and I can express loads so I don't think it's that she can't get enough. I am pretty shattered, I must say. Most sleep I've had in one go in 6+2 weeks is 3 hrs, and that's about three times. Usually it's up to 1, a few times a night.

Any tips?

On the other hand, DD1 (bless her) is napping like some kind of marathon sleeper. Went down for 3.5hrs on Monday (1.35-5.05) and still went to bed at 7.30! Do you think she's OK?

Things much better with DH. We're being more tolerant, trying to see things from each others' perspectives rather than being instantly resentful of the other and it seems to be working.

Stupidly just failed to have a shower during the first time DD2 has gone to sleep on the bouncy chair (or indeed anywhere except the baby bjorn/on me or another willing volunteer) for at least two weeks.

Must go and change phenomenal-sounding nappy. Hope all is well with everyone.

Scampmum · 04/06/2008 11:00

PS Sagitta, does he have a sympathy belly you can pat in response? DH said something similar at a similar point and I'm still cross with him about it.

sagitta · 04/06/2008 11:19

Sadly, dh has always been thinner than me!

Good to hear you sounding a bit more upbeat, scamp. but that is pretty hectic nighttime activity...that's worse than mine, no wonder you're tired. Have you tried being a bit meaner with dd2 - letting her cry for a bit? My mum insisted i let her cry for 10 minutes, and it has made a load of difference - she drops off quite quickly now - (of course, not this morning when I really needed her to...) anyway, you've probbaly tried everything. Wish I could help you - but at least dd1 is sleeping well for you!

Scampmum · 04/06/2008 11:32

Well, last night's shortish wakeful periods were due to her settling herself, with me sleeping through anything that wasn't a proper cry - I think before I've been picking her up at the early stages trying to settle her before it becomes an issue, when actually she seems to want to have a yell to help her get to sleep. She definitely gets left more than DD1 - neglected second child alert! And properly knackered mum...

Someone from work who is part time after the birth of her daughter is coming here to visit me today. Didn't know what to say so just said 'yes, it'd be lovely' in meek fashion, but don't really like her and REALLY can't be @rsed to e.g. tidy up the house (a TIP, am 'teaching' DH about how to put things away )/put on makeup etc. Prob running out of time to cancel but maybe I should? Am not going back to work so no reason to keep her onside (god I sound callous) - DH thinks she has been sent by the boss to see whether I'm planning to come back or not!

sagitta · 04/06/2008 11:55

I wouldn't bother with tidying/ make-up, anything if she means nothing to you! In fact, why not cancel...

scorpio1 · 04/06/2008 13:35

scamp - you must be exhausted certainly don't bother making effort for someone you dont even like!!

i have cheered up now.

Mimi has put on 1lb exactly in 14 days and i got the new hv who gave me that leaflet about thrush and she is meeting the gp's next week to tell them to give people fluc. im off!!!!!![good and nice hv emoticon]

Scampmum · 04/06/2008 14:37

She cancelled! Woohoo.

Great weight gain, Mimi.

I am STARVING today. I wonder if DD is having a growth spurt? (would that make me hungry?) maybe it's just the tiredness.

VictorianSqualor · 04/06/2008 16:47

Yay, no effort necessary.

Got fatso weighed today as well, (13lb 10oz) and spoke to the HV about my oversupply/fast let-down. Sadly though she is knowledgeable and a lovely lady, she knows no more than I do....

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 04/06/2008 17:19

at 13lb, Millie is 10lb 9oz!

VictorianSqualor · 04/06/2008 17:24

LOL. He's called Fatso for a reason
He's a clever boy, just gave Daddy his first proper laugh, work it baby!
