Hi ladybee btw! Love the name Ben, just copy and paste the first post and add your details.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 13:45

ooh yes hi ladybee, sorry was being me-me-me.

Mum2BabyRoo · 27/05/2008 13:48

Well I hope DH sticks up for you and tells his DS that it's not nice to behave like that.

Welcome LadyBee!

Right now I really am going...

Sal22 · 27/05/2008 14:16

welcome ladybee!

and congratulations, knitter - and what a cool pic!

scorpio, i'd have been upset too. at least you can tell him off so that hopefully he is better behaved in future. boys that age can be a bit much sometimes if they have their way (saying this as having 2 brothers, and even with my mom being really strict they do take chances sometimes). bet you he did it to get the attention, he probably knew you'd be annoyed.

vs - thought of asking you something first thing this morning, but it's now gone... hopefully i'll remember soon, otherwise i'll have to try again tomorrow . something about breastfeeding... ah yes, just remembered - as you seem to be the bf expert, directed at you, but if anyone can give me tips: how on earth do you get your lo's to drink in bed properly? i give roelof comfort sips sometimes, but anything more than a couple of minutes, and he opens his mouth or something and floods the bed! or if he doesn't do that, he seems to choke and it comes out his nose! oh, and (i think) he latches on fine at the start. i'd love to be able to lie down while feeding him in bed, but, well, we struggle! help please

scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 14:20

new pics

i just shove my boob in her face, sal!

Sal22 · 27/05/2008 14:33

lovely, lovely pics, scorpio! ooh, and i love her outfit! i want a little girl too now... hmm, where's dh when i need him??

on the feeding in bed - maybe i should just take a disposable changing mat to protect the bed with me and persevere... as when i give him my boob, he's ok to start with, and then he either chokes or opens his mouth when full! practice, perfect and all that?!

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2008 14:37

When I first started feeding Lex in bed I had a disposable changing mat under my sheet.
I lay down almost on my side, and have to make sure he is right on his side belly to belly, and feed him that way.
It's tricky, and not exactly comfy, I also have to make sure he isn't on my arm or he is too close to my nipple.
Yes, practice, perfect etc.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 14:39

took me many times to get it right lying down too.

Sal22 · 27/05/2008 14:42

thanks you two

scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 15:21

have just told DH and he is backing me up

Sal22 · 27/05/2008 15:36

:-) to scorpio's dh

i was supposed to meet the consultant that did my cs for a (already late) 6-week checkup this afternoon, but just moved it to next week, as roelof's been a bit off. think i've just gone through 8 or 9 nappies this morning. but he seems ok now, and is feeding fine so not dehydrated. so now i've got baby sleeping on my shoulder, the cat half across my lap on the left side and the laptop on rest of my lap. life is good. (obviously ignoring all the paperwork across the floor and hallway - was planning to do my co accounts today...) oh, and mil coming to stay, arriving on thursday morning, so still have to do some serious cleaning. maybe later

PeachyWontLieToYou · 27/05/2008 16:27

I'm actua;ly desperate to do some cleaning! Sad that, sin't it? We were off all weekend and I am 500 words (AKA one tenth) of the way through my final assignment now, when that's finished I won't know what to do with mysel. Except clean, anyway- and then only if a miracle occurs and bas agrees to be put down!

My sister said her ds2 was like Bas with a fear of being put down, she finally ,managed to do it at 5 months .

Seriously, I do feel like the ultimate bad mummy at times . Like when I have to get the others ready for school, and I cant see how I can not leavebas to cry it out whilst I dress ds3 or make breakfast. I hate doing it- its against every instinct I have. But its clear BAs isnt going to give in for a while, and he won't even go in a sling if I am carrying it (will for DH).

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2008 16:54

Peachy, I leave Alex to cry if the others need me.
The way I see it, if he isn't hungry, nor wet, or in pain, crying for a moment will not harm him.
Me leaving the other two to deal with him constantly at their ages could cause issues with jealousy, which could mess up the whole family and sibling relationships.
I owe it to them not to let that happen, so sometimes, he needs to cry!

OP posts:
Sal22 · 27/05/2008 17:27

Every time I feel like I've got an excuse ready to be lazy, I just have to read this page, you all put me to shame (which doesn't take much, granted, but still)!

Peachy, I can't remember from antenatal thread, but who else was studying? I remember reading about your assignments then.

I think I'll start studying again in July (for the Dec exams), as I was too lazy to do it now.

VictorianSqualor · 27/05/2008 17:35

Scorpio is at uni too sal.

OP posts:
Sal22 · 27/05/2008 17:42

Ah, thanks VS. Hmm, won't be mentioning any of this to DH tonight, lol, as my official line is that new mothers should rest as much as possible for health reasons

scorpio1 · 27/05/2008 19:45

Well dh backed me up and re-told Zac about feeding and how not to be disrespectful of adults. (he has done more than this today btw)

I leave Millie too if she is fed dry etc and the others need something. All is nearly quiet here dc have gone to bed and millie is sparko in her chair

Denny185 · 27/05/2008 22:05

Hello ladybee

Scorpio hope everything is sorted now with DSS and that your not too with him he just have just reacted that way out of emabarrasment and not knowing how to express himself properly (trying to find a reason other than just being a little shite to make you feel better).

Peachy I leave Aeryn if other 2 need sorting although sometimes find difficult especially if she and DS screaming to noise level just gets too much so I just have one either side of my lap to shut them up. All well and good until need to be ready for school run then I tend to place her in another room so its not so loud - naughty mummy he he he.

Peachy i dont know how youve gone 4 weekend camping and then come home to do uni work as well. We went to see friends over last couple of days and had beds to sleep in (admittedly v late night and early morning) but got up today feeling cream crakered and have gone back to bed twice when Aeryn has slept. The last one was for 2 hours and when I got up the house was empty as DH had taken the others to indoor play centre so had another hour and a half peace and quiet.

Staying up to try dream feeding tonight as last night did 3 feeds in 5 hours (prob coz she slept most of the day though ) so thought Id attempt it again. When weve done it before she not been great at taking the feed and still ends up waking at normal time so fingers crossed shell take it tonight and its back to just one night feed.

LadyBee · 27/05/2008 22:27

Sal - were you told to do the 6-week check with consultant because of your c-section? Just curious (and wondering whether this is something I should have been asked to do) as I just did mine with GP, who I'd never seen before, knew nothing about my pregnancy or delivery and seemed generally uninterested.
Can I ask you ladies about contraception while BFing? GP suggested an implant would be ok for BFing, does that sound right to you?
Knitter - congrats on your anniversary - great pic! Last month was when my OH & I were going to be married, but baby came along instead so we're hoping to get it organised for this time next year instead. Well, I'm hoping..OH not yet informed of this plan.
I'm going to have a go at feeding in bed tomorrow - MW suggested putting myself on a pillow with baby on bed to try to get lined up properly but could never get it to work..time to have another go I think.

Sal22 · 27/05/2008 22:36

LadyBee - no, I think it's standard to just have the normal check with GP - to be honest I think going to see the consultant is a bit of waste of time. But I had some specific medical issues and I assume consultant just want to check on that. I went private btw, so medical insurance covers this. I've never heard of someone having to see their NHS consultant afterwards, but I might be wrong.
I had my normal 6-week check with the GP too, and she mostly checked baby and asked if I was depressed, and then discussed the various contraception options. Mine also said implant ok with BFing.

Denny185 · 28/05/2008 08:47

Morning

just re-read post from last night, really should proof read b4 posting as lots of missing words and spelling mistakes
Scorpio there should have been a 'might' in that sentence.

Well dream feed kind of worked, managed to get some EBM down her but only 3oz, then she woke at 3 and 7.30. I feel human again today, good job as DH on 12 hour shift so i have the 3 to entertain by myself.

Piccalilli2 · 28/05/2008 08:52

hello all

very jealous of those of you with babies who nap during the day, zoe will only sleep if it's on me or in a sling which doesn't let me get much done (sleep when the baby sleeps? Ha!)

i'm another one who occasionally leaves the baby to scream to deal with an older child - sometimes she just has to wait, her older sister needs to eat etc too.

ThePFJ · 28/05/2008 08:55

Yay!!!! I found you all...

Missed you all so much!!!

Hope all your babies are doing ok, I haven't had time really to catch up on the thread.

Baby Jack who is now just over 7 weeks old is growing really really well, but we have been back into hospital alot with him and I have had to stay over night rather alot. There is no access to the internet there so I can't contact you mummies either. Jack recovered from the MRSA and infection control tested every member of staff and us and the cats if you remember and all came up negative which is puzzling. But Jack caught another serious infection in the shape of ecoli. He is again on macdaddy antibiotics but a more varied spread of them this time.
He has to have his immune system tested in 2 weeks and has had ultra sounds and blood tests to check his kidneys and liver which have been fine. Further to this the landlord here decided he needed to sell our house ASAP for some STUPID reason... yes this is a good time to sell isnt it?! -sarcasm- and I have had to find us a new house nearby while trying to look after Jack at the same time. We are moving this weekend but Jack will still be in hospital... fun eh?
Have got my family coming up to Derbyshire to help me, my mum went home a while ago and DP has had to work alot so I am really sorting Jack and the house move out alone most of the time.. Ok.. ALL of the time.

Everything is too random at the moment so I have stopped BFing and am back on the pill. Considering how very ill Jack has been he is a very 'tall' baby now and the hospital are impressed with how well he has been looked after.

I don't know what I shall do if his immune system has a problem. I am a clean and tidy freak as it is. Go mad I expect!

Anyways I am at home for a few days now as DP has now taken over for me at the hospital. I have to organise leases and deposits to be wrestled back from the previous landlord etc etc.

Wish me luck girls!!!

xxxxxxx

Denny185 · 28/05/2008 09:36

Hi PFJ, what a rough time youve been having, hope little Jack is responding to his treatments and fingers crossed for the results on the testing of his immune system. Lots of ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) for you and your DH at this difficult time.
