scorpio1 · 28/05/2008 10:31

I am selling my pushchair....for a denim bugaboo. DH is not impressed but i wanted one in the beginning and got the loola anyway. I am not a pushchair whore normally!

How much do you think i should ask for it? it will be 7 weeks old when i want to sell it, with carrycot and pushchair, no carseat.

elfsmummy · 28/05/2008 11:25

Gosh PFJ. Lots of thoughts winging their way to your family - sounds like a nightmare - I was in bits after Elena spent 1 night in hospital at 2 weeks - can only imagine how you feel!

Question for you ladies: Would anyone worry that their DD was sleeping TOO much? I've been trying not to get paranoid but Elena sleeps almost constantly and she's 6 weeks today. The longest she's awake for is about 50 minutes at a time. She's amazingly content - barely cries and just sits in her chair most of the time, but she can't sit for long before she falls off to sleep again. I reackon she's awake for about 3 hours in every 24!

It's a complete contrast to DD1 who barely slept as a newborn and cried constantly - had reflux.

At 6 weeks DD2 is still not smiling and I can only hope that its because she's not awake enough to learn! Am beginning to worry a little - whilst enjoying the peace at the same time!

Scorpio I love my bugaboo- I reackon i'd expect about 70% of RRP for a 7 week old pushchair - have you checked out what they're going for on ebay?

scorpio1 · 28/05/2008 11:28

oh she sounds like Millie, she is never wake for much longer than anh our in one go Millie dies smile but its normal to be around 6 weeks, dont panic

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:14

PFJ!!
OMG!! Really hope it's not Jacks immune system, I'd be pretty shocked at him comig into contact with both MRSA and Ecoli tbh!

Elfsmummy Sounds about normal to me, Alex sleeps a lot, never really awake for more than an hour at a time, and as long as he is fed and clean he just smiles, looks around and gurgles.

Ladybee implant is fine for BFing from what I can remember, the only reason I have decided to ask for the mini-pill is that I want to TTC again next year. (I've actually been depending on BFing being enough until I get my pill next week though).

DP just rang.. Jack came up in blotches overnight and now they are saying he has baby ezcema (sp?) o.O
Erm. Not sure really how I feel about this. It seems my baby is intent on getting every single possible thing wrong with him in as short a space possible...

There is no history of ezcema in my family or DP's... just the occasional asthma.

What the hell....?

Think I may go into see Jack today after all. I need to see what my baby looks like with these blotches.

sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:19

So sorry about jack and the house, pfj, but it sounds like you are coping really well...

A is eating all the time and its killing me - at nights she feeds at 6.30, 10.15, 2.00, 4.30 and 6.30. She's 2.5 weeks - do you think this is a growth spurt? The good thing is that she is very chilled out and rarely cries. But I'm so knackered all the time...

finally all our visitors have gone - we've had mum and mil here for 10 days. now its just DH and me for a week, which is great.

ThePFJ · 28/05/2008 12:21

I am going to have to wrap Jack in cotton wool and never let him out aren't I?
Oh bugger bugger bugger.

sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:24

PFJ -I hope its not excema, but if it is, it wouldn't be the worst thing. DD1 got it after her first set of jabs, and had it quite badly for a long time. Drs are rubbish at helping you get rid of it, for dd1 it was my diet, and we found out she's allergic to dairy and eggs. But it took a while to find it out. Let us know how it goes - I learnt a lot about it, so may be able to help if it is excema....
I can't believe how unlucky you have been - good luck...

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:27

PFJ if it is eczema he may well grow out of it, DD has it and although she has sensitive skin now she rarely gets eczema flare ups unless she itches lots and lets her skin get dry so all she has to do is moisturise instead of itch.

It might possibly be in reaction to the drugs they are pumping him full of.

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:28

Also Sagitta, sounds totally normal to me, probably not a growth spurt as yet, from what I remember of DS1's growth spurt there was no breaks!

The only thing Jack eats is Cow and Gate Premium number 1 formula. The hospital has it in ready made bottles which can be given straight or warmed up. At home Jack has the same thing but in powder form that I make up. He's been on this formula for a good while now, so I dont think its that that has triggered it. Apparently the antibiotics Jack is on currently may have though. Any other advice? I am thinking baths everyday with no additions to the water, patting him dry and then giving him the cream the hospital will envitably give us?

Poor DD1 if she is allergic to eggs and dairy.. they are my most favourite things...

sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:33

VS - shit, really? This is just normal newborn feeding? I want my nights back...!!!

scorpio1 · 28/05/2008 12:36

pmsl VS...we are both gonna be pg if bf doesnt work!!! i dont get contraception for another 3 week.

sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:38

PFJ - it might well be the drugs that triggered it (excema often has a trigger), and then it could be anything which continues it, iyswim. There are tonnes of different creams, but it will be trial and error which ones work for Jack - and many of them either won't work, or will make it worse. For dry skin I'd get epiderm - horrible vaseline like stuff, but it mosturises really well and I haven't heard of a baby who gets a bad reaction to it. Be wary of oilatum for the bath - that can do as much harm as good. We use soya oil in the bath, which works for dd. I'd see how bad it is, and get as much different stuff as you can on prescreption, then work through it to see what works.

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:39

I would have thought they'd give you some oilatum, it's something you put in the bath, easiest way with kids with eczema really, and baths few and far between cos they dry out the skin.

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:40

Lol@ the oilatum, with DD it was great, so just see what they say and if anything they give you doesn't improve it in a few days, or seems to make it worse stop immediately and go back.

OP posts:
sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:43

LOL - this is the big problem with excema, is that its really individual and every child seems to be different. It takes a long time to fix. If it is excema, try to get a referral to a specific excema clinic, which is really helpful.

Lots of people swear by Diprobase - maybe ask for that?

ThePFJ · 28/05/2008 12:44

Right.

-makes notes-

sagitta · 28/05/2008 12:45

poor pfj...

scorpio1 · 28/05/2008 12:46

sorry i dont know anything about it wish i could help.

ThePFJ · 28/05/2008 12:48

I know. This all completely sucks arses doesnt it?
They need Jack to be completely well for 2 whole weeks to do the immune tests. At this rate they won't be able to do them until he's 34.

VictorianSqualor · 28/05/2008 12:49

I know with DD certain washing powders and cleaners make her flare up, she can't use Johnsons, but can use Tesco baby for sensitive skin for example, and I can't use Fairy washing up liquid, or Radox.
So most of it will just become trial and error if he does continue to have it.
DP apparently was covered in eczema as a child, he never has any of it now.

ThePFJ · 28/05/2008 12:53

Thats a point. Washing powder.
Thanks VS.
