Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VictorianSqualor · 23/05/2008 18:02

Molly, me neither, I'd prefer to have some time as 'me' with DP before we have another but will be TTC in a year at the latest

Sal, I was an only child and was soooo jealous of people with brothers and sisters, when I first went into foster care and there were six of us I loved it, I'm clever enough to have an age gap or four years between my lot though, I bet the next one will run me ragged

Sal22 · 23/05/2008 18:41

VS, my mom did it roughly like that - my sister was 7, brother 4, and other brother 14 months when i was born! she says it was great (she would, wouldn't she?) However, we lived on a farm and she washed nappies by hand, so now i suspect she might be a bit mad...

Denny185 · 23/05/2008 19:03

My god youve all gone mad

scorpio1 · 24/05/2008 07:36

We have got thrush again god this is so frigging hard sometimes....am going to try very hard to stay with BF though.

DH is being a little difficult at the moment, and what with that, dss coming here today etc etc i just need some rest!

In 3 weeks i have postnatal appt to sort out proper contraception - and DH said he now doesnt want anymore babies. i thought we were going to ttc by the end of year

God i sound happy in thisw post dont i!!

Denny185 · 24/05/2008 08:08

Sorry your having such a hard time at the mo. At least the trush may go someway to explaining the feeding yesterday.

Maybe DH could take all the boys out to the park or something to give u a break.

You nrver know he might feel differently about babies when Millie is a bit older

Scampmum · 24/05/2008 09:15

Sorry to hear that Scorpio - sometimes think men are more hormonal and flighty than we are after the birth! He'll come round...

Expressed for the first time this morning. Grand total of 2.5oz! We have BIL and his wife staying for a week (!) starting today (oh, and they forgot to ask - just told us!) so taking advantage by planning a night out (maybe slight overstatement - but at least a couple of hours alone) tomorrow. How much milk will I need to leave for one feed? Eve will be one day shy of five weeks and probably weighs between 10 and 11lb. Want to leave the most she might need so the greedier your baby the more interested I am!

She is still screaming ALL THE TIME during the day, although we had a much better night last night, up at 12.45, 3.45 and 6.45 (routine??) although silly me had stayed up to watch Peep Show. DH took her out in the car a couple of times last night and I must say it was nice to be away from her - my back is just knackered from all the carrying/weird posture bfing/acquiescing to 'Carry Mummy carry!' even when DD2 is in the sling. That was the first time we've been apart since birth, I think! SO lovely to be able to put DD1 to bed without a huge bump or a screaming baby. (I do love DD2, by the way!) Used the second lot of time to cook bolognaise for tonight, though - damn mince being about to go off. Sal, what did you do in the end with your 3hrs?

Just a reminder - number of oz per feed for all the babies please! EBM or formula.

Hope all are well and this sun hangs around all bank holiday weekend!

scorpio1 · 24/05/2008 09:17

EBM 6 oz. Mimi weighs 9lbs if that makes any diff.

I only get about 3oz a time so do a bit each day, normally in the mornings.

Mimi went 10-5 the last 2 nights

Piccalilli2 · 24/05/2008 09:19

I think a feed SHOULD be about 3 oz but dd2 downed that (EBM) and demanded more when I tried to get 5 minutes to myself yesterday so who knows

Scampmum · 24/05/2008 09:26

Cool - so I should def be able to get enough for a feed or two then - woohoo booze here I come! She seems satisfied now after feeding from the one I just expressed from so maybe I can do the other one now.

Scampmum · 24/05/2008 09:27

and thanks, prompt ladies! Does that mean your DD is taking the bottle now, Piccalilli? Was that the problem?

Denny185 · 24/05/2008 09:56

EBM 5-6oz

VictorianSqualor · 24/05/2008 10:35

When I expressed DS took 4oz then looked at like 'where is the rest of it mum?'
So I had to feed him after, point of the bottle was??lol.

Scorpio, try not to worry DP keeps changing his mind, and remember your DH took a good few months of persuading for millie, if anyone can do it you can

WRT thrush if you're worried it's going to keep coming back just keep using the daktarin cream after feeds, it should keep it at bay, also apparently garlic sees it off, so maybe get some garlic capsules??

Well done for waiting for the booze sal, I've certainly made up for not drinking for nine months already

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 24/05/2008 10:38

dont have daktarin - have canesten and nystan drops.

VictorianSqualor · 24/05/2008 10:51

Might be worth getting some daktarin, I found it much easier with Alex, it's a gel so you just put it on your finger and rub into the top of their mouth and their tongue, it worked better than the nyastin which I found quite hard to ensure t stayed on his tongue iyswim.
Also, it's only meant to be for the mouth(make sure you get the oral gel if you get some, it's about £4 from boots behind the counter) but you can use it on your nips too.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 24/05/2008 10:52

oooh i will get some of that today then so shall i chuck the nystan away when i get that?

VictorianSqualor · 24/05/2008 10:58

I've kept Alex's just in case but I don't know how long it will keep for.

Sal22 · 24/05/2008 11:08

morning. i'm sooo tired, both dh and myself look like death itself this morning, while the little one responsible is happily sleeping here in front of us! feels as if we were up all night. oh well, will try and nap through the day.

in the end we went to this lovely little french restaurant near home. we went there the night we found out i'm pregnant, so felt fitting. (that's another story - i'm so impatient - i just knew i'm pregnant, so bought a test and got it confirmed in the toilets at charing cross station... ). oh, the romance, hehehe. but anyway, our night out was great, although a little strange in that i kept checking the time. but (and this sounds horrible, but you might understand - i hope) for a moment there it felt like just the two of us. and although i love roelof more than anything, it was a nice feeling: not stressed, not knackered, not rushed (for that second anyway), just relaxed. the plan is to do it at least once a month from now on, i'd highly recommend it.

scampmum - annoyed with your uninvited guests, but on the upside, childcare sorted enjoy!

good luck with the thrush, scorpio. hope it (and dh!) gets sorted soon.

VictorianSqualor · 24/05/2008 11:11

Sal, it sounds fine!
DP and I still do things that makes it seem like it's just us and that's with three kids!
Being just me is well strange though¬!

OP posts:
Denny185 · 24/05/2008 11:32

Sall that sounds lovely, its important you still have time 4 u as a couple.

scorpio1 · 24/05/2008 11:49

Sal that sounds lovely, and nice to feel a couple again. We too do stuff that makes it just us - cuddles, film watching, etc etc. Am hoping to go out on a date with dh next week (he already sort of is sorted - think i may be being a bitch to him a little bit)

Mum has gone to shops for me to get gel stuff DH is getting Zac today so he will not be here until teatime i expect.

Mum2BabyRoo · 24/05/2008 11:56

Sal - who did you get to babysit? I'm thinking that some 'us' time would be lovely.

VS - how are you feeling now after pushing your freezer around? Did you end up having to go to the Dr?

Scorpio - poor you - thrush again. I used to suffer big time too (as did my sister) and we followed the anti candida diet (basically a no sugar diet) and it cleared it up and we have both been fine for years now (touch wood).

On Thursday we went to get DD weighed, measured and have her screening tests done. She is now 9 pounds 1 oz, and 58cm (HV didn't beleive the hospital measurments as apparently most babies measure between 51 - 54cm, and she was 58cm at birth) - so yes, we have a tall baby! She passed screening tests - so all good!! Then we went up to London to show baby off at my work (basically with the restructuring going on there, people are leaving daily, and as it is only half my team are left, so thought I better get in there before they all go!) After that we went to meet DH father and girlfriend who were out here for the week (they live in Canada). Think I might have done too much though - yesterday I felt awful and totally drained. And the little missy would not settle last night - took almost 3 hours in the end and resulted in DD getting totally overtired. But after that she slept really well - 1 feed at 1:45am and the next at 4:45am, and then again at 8am. So not too bad! And I feel so much better too after a pretty good sleep!

Sal22 · 24/05/2008 13:01

mum2babyroo - uhm, sounds a bit strange, but we got our cleaning lady! she's worked for us one day a week for 2 years now though, so we know her really well, she treats us like her children (i.e. telling us off, bringing us gifts back from her holiday, christmasses etc!) and she's got lots of childcare experience (worked as nanny in america for a couple of years and has 3 grand children). i've actually thought of, if i go back to work earlier (i've resigned, so plan at moment is to stay at home), to try and persuade her to become our full time employee and look after him at home during the day. If you're looking for someone to babysit for you, have a look on gumtree - there's a couple of qualified nannies etc doing evenings for extra income (if you don't know someone i assume at least knowing they're qualified etc helps a bit). When looking, I also looked at the Sitters site - they might be worth it if you want someone regularly. But no personal experience of them.

scorpio1 · 25/05/2008 13:01

I;m off out to play tonight

KnitterInTheNW · 25/05/2008 15:08

Have a brilliant time Scorpio!

I'm as tired today as though I'd been out last night, George slept well but our next door neighbour had a party last night and I could hear Rick Astley and Bananarama playing and lots of people singing in our bedroom at 2:30 this morning. I sent him a text saying 'don't want to be a party pooper but could you turn it down a little bit please' and it got turned down, but gradually got louder again as time went on. Oh well, he doesn't do it often and I can't expect everyone to be tucked up in bed and quiet by 10pm can I!

scorpio1 · 25/05/2008 15:10

i would be livid!!

im off to the pub tis mates bday
