Hi FH, glad you had a great time, had a good look through the pics earlier, just looks like a great, relaxed time.

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 01/06/2008 19:33

well I hope you've all got a good reason for being absent or I'll be calling your parents!

Welcome back Feetheart, glad a good time was had by all. I was very tempted to get tickets to Camp Bestival this year, but I think my romantic notion of camping with the two of them is not how would turn out!

Saying that though, I took them both to the New Forest yesterday for a family gathering and they were amazing on the journey there and back. I did almost crash the car pulling into a layby at top speed though when noo announced she needed the toilet! Family gathering was fun, noo loves spending time with grandad and angie, and miniman was charming the ladies.

Been having more fun with buggies. I decided my maclaren was looking a bit tatty so I bought a bugaboo bee off a lady on here. Got it yesterday, took it out of the box, noo got all excited at it (that's my girl) so I put her in it and she's far too big for it. So I had to put it back in the box and put it back up for sale again!

Chacha, I got your text and email, thank you, and my aim is to get some packing for it tomorrow when I go to sort out our storage unit, and send it off to you this week, if that's ok? Lunches are always tricky for me during the week as the kids are at nursery, but I can do a saturday or sunday if Beks wants to do that?? Have a lovely holiday, what a fantastic surprise for you.

ChaCha · 02/06/2008 13:59

Hi girls,

Nova - Ahhh, sorry you can't make a weekday, will definitely have to arrange a Saturday then when back (might have to be nice lunch out though will only have 4/5 weeks left once home and am beginning to feel it!) will contact you both to arrange. Maybe we'll have some great weather by then and a picnic in the park might also be a good idea. Pram this week is great Nova, thank you so much, am actually very excited about it's arrival now (pram not baby but of course excited about that too!) Love your passion for pushchairs, i am such a novice, i went purely on a recommendation from close friend with the Jane travel one and then the Power Twin.

Not quite in holiday mode yet had awful sickness yesterday that lasted the whole day and night. DS who has just hit 2.5 has turned into a little know-it-all overnight...does make me laugh but can also be quite frustrating. Poor DS2 has been bitten twice by DS1, am wondering if his teeth are giving him pain, he has been grinding his teeth a lot and being a bit boisterous. Any experiences on this?

See you all later (if anyone is actually there!) x

feetheart · 02/06/2008 16:56

No idea what happened with double posts on Friday, we did have a lovely time but doesn't really justify telling you all twice

Lovely news on the holiday ChaCha. In my (slightly limited) experience of flying whilst pg no-one even notices, most annoying when you have got letters from GP etc! Just brazened it the next time and again no-one said a thing.

Nova - when camping with two it really helps to have friends camping next door who also have two of similar ages. That way the children entertain each other and the grown-ups can sympathise when one or other child goes into meltdown. Also gives you someone to sit up, chat and drink wine with in the evenings. This worked out very well this time round and if we go to Bristol in September a much bigger group of us are going to claim a children's zone and all camp together.

The planned return to school (and all the jobs that I really needed to do) were well and truely scuppered today when I got a phonecall to pick up a poorly T at 11am. Calpol and Nurofen stuff were duly administered and Playhouse Disney has been helping with the recovery process. No idea what is wrong other than a temperature and a headache. We will see what develops.

Rodeo · 02/06/2008 17:39

Poo, just lost a long post, think I've now lost the will to live
Feety, welcome back, glad you had a great time, looks fab! Trying to cajole dp into camping this year (last time was a disaster as Jess just would not sleep!) although the Times travel supplement mentioned my favourite campsite, hmph, so might not be as quiet this year! Hope T gets well soon and it's just a 24hr thing.
Nova, family weekend sounds lovely can emphasise on the toilet moment, looking forward to when the urgency isn't so urgent! Going to send J without nappy to playgroup tomorrow, gulp, going to sent a few changes of clothes and hope for the best!
Chacha, Surprise hol sounds lovely, are you off to Turkey? Let me know if you plan a Saturday soon, would love t omake it down, could do with a mother/toddler adventure
LOL at all the buggy antics, esp Chacha's 'looking forward to it's arrival (pram not baby )
Hello to Beks, Panda and Brownie, got to go, homework beckons x x x

mypandasgotcrabs · 02/06/2008 19:46

Hello everyone.

Ooh! Lucky you ChaCha with a surprise holiday. Enjoy!

Goodluck for a dry tomorrow at playgroup Rodeo, I had a message home today from nursery asking to send S in pants from now on as he is dry at nursery & always uses to potty or toilet. Fingers crossed that will help me at home with him too.

O started his new school today. Is so very different from his old school. Although not massive, there are about the same amount of children in one year here as there were in the entire school before. ALso seems to be people from so many different backgrounds here hwich I think can only be good for him, as almost 100% of the children at his old school were White, English & fairly affluent.

Can I join in the lunch too? I htink ChaCha is only just over an hour away from me.

OP posts:
Rodeo · 03/06/2008 14:06

Yay! Jess had completely dry morning! Sent her with 3 sets of extra knicks, leggings and socks plus wipes and bags, but she didn't need them at all today! Treated her to a packet of Buttons and now she's crashed out on the sofa I on the other hand have had a totally soggy morning in all this rain at the stables and now in need of shower!
Panda, well done to S too, nuseries and pre-schools must be on the ball with this PTing business! Hope O has a good week at his new school Bel & Joe both go to big schools, they have 4 full classes in each year group, means the school can afford extra floating teachers and TAs so child staff ratio is good, also means there is a nice mix of experience and new ideas from the broad range of staff. Anyway just wanted to put across that just because it's a big school doesn't mean your child might get lost in the system, getting herded into dinner or assembly, we've found the opposite Will stop waffling now!
Emailed Diege yesterday, all is well her end, still busy busy at work. Twinkle went into labour last week but hospital managed to halt it, all seems well this week, I'll let you know if I hear anymore news. Right, have a load of washing to be getting on with, will have to be a tumble drying day! Speak later x

feetheart · 03/06/2008 14:21

Well done Jess and O and Noo I think. No chance of things happening here as A is quite definite that he wants a nappy NOT pants. DH is starting to stress and mutter about star charts, I'm not bothered and am about to email him a link to a MN thread about late-training children Not that A is late, just not helped by T being dry by 2.3. Though it did take another 3 MONTHS before she would do a poo in anything other that her pants - yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

Thanks for the update Rodeo, fingers-crossed for Twinkle and babes, how far on is she now?

T still not well. Seemed much better this morning but flagged just before lunch and temp is back so dosed up again and now reviving. Think its probably one of those irritating 'virus' things. A. going stir-crazy but refused offer from friend to take him to Mums and Tots group. Living room floor now turned into giant farm and dining room table covered in 'cutting and sticking' (ie hundreds of tiny bits of paper ) May put him in wellies and rain gear, give him an umbrella and banish him to the garden to make 'soup'!!

ChaCha · 04/06/2008 12:35

Hello ladies,

Panda - How was O's first day at school? Hope everything went well and that he is settling in fine. As a child of O's age i attended a lovely school in West London, children were of all backgrounds - the frightening thing for me was when my parents made a foolish move to the North and I was the only child in the WHOLE school with a 'foreign' name and foreign dad (with the exception of one girl whose family were the owners of the local Chinese take-away). Was great to be back in London for secondary school. If i do decide to send the boys to school over Home Ed then definitely would want them to be somewhere similar. (Sorry - inevitable memory lane trip there )

Rodeo - Great to read your post. Am v.impressed at another dry toddler. My friend's DD has been toilet trained at nursery - she was thrilled that they had done this so quickly with her - certainly keeps the shopping expenses down! Glad to hear Twinkle is alright...keep us posted and if you have contact pls wish her well.

Feetheart - How is A now? We have the same with DS1. He has been acting quite strangely (i mentioned his teeth grinding/biting few days) and yesterday just before DH was due to take him out for the evening he said 'no mummy, me tired now lie down sofa' but i thought nothing of it and got him ready to go. DH texts me then half hour later saying that he is alseep in his lap and is really hot. He came home later with a burning temperature which was over 39 so we dosed him up with calpol and kept cold flannel on the go and has woken up this morning alright really. Anyhow....DH has just taken him to the doctor who said his tonsils are slightly inflamed but nothing apparent and that if he continues to get hot to take urine sample to surgery on Friday. We shall see. Could just be fighting something as you said, like a virus of somesort or could develop. Actually he had tonsilitis the week before i took them both on holiday last year for the 5 weeks away...remember taking the antibiotic liquid in the case....hmmm

Well, as you can tell from my long post can actually sit and concentrate as DS2 has just climbed onto sofa, put his head on my lap and gone to sleep - he is such a sweetie! New words are elbow, kipper, out, gaggin (garden), out, sooz (shoes), 'oh no', where, there and a few more.

BTKS hope all is well. Hi to Nova x

Okay, will go now Have no help this week but am surprisinly getting things done!

Love to all

mypandasgotcrabs · 04/06/2008 21:08

Well done Jess. S has been a little hit & miss with going for a wee, tbh no different I think to how he has been for the last few months, but if nursery are giving it a go, then I think I should!

I'm not sure really how O is doing at his new school, he is often very vague about things, but I guess most 6yr olds are! There are probably only about the same amount of children in his class as there was before, and the school has a very good reputation & I've only heard good things about it. Plus if you're going on results/ofsted, they always have had high ofsted reports & last year their sats results were no1 & no2 in Portsmouth for writing & reading respectively, and numeracy they are 6th. PLus they have seperate techers for IT, music & PE, have lots of community links etc. His 1st day he came home said he had made one friend, also called O! And he's made a couple more friends today & yesterday. I think the things that he finds difficult though is that he is very sensitive & if the whole class are told off he takes it very personally and gets upset. ALso how the 2 schools do things differently, for example he was stroppy yesterday because they had games, but the rules for dodgeball here are different to what he's used to, so really stropped about htat!

ANyway, monologue over I am determined NOT to stay on the internet all night tonihgt! We'll see!

Hi girls

Well done to all the little ones on their successful potty training, what little superstars . T is nowhere near ready so i'm glad A isn't too keen either.

Sorry to be absent again for a while but having a really crap time of it again. Had to have our cat put down on Tuesday, which was really sad but worse for dh as she was really his pet, then T decided that night was a good one to be sick again. Having just got him over tonsilitus through the half term am now feeling pretty desperate with him.

Then to top it all off my washing machine has decided to breakdown whilst holding onto the sick covered clothes - argghhh

Chacha great news re holiday hope you have a fab time.

My mil has offered to take us away in the summer holidays so that is a ray of sunshine for us too thankfully, but might need her to pay for the washing machine instead now !!!

Panda glad to hear O is doing well in his new school, i'm sure he'll have no problem making new friends, in fact i bet they'll be clamouring to be his friend as he is such a lovely little boy.

Glad to hear that Twinkle is doing well, must have been scary for her going into labour early, so glad they managed to stop it. Rodeo please send her our best wishes if you are in contact with her.

Right best go and sort out the little man, love to all, spk soon Beks

Rodeo · 05/06/2008 13:58

Oh Beks, what a horrid week poor T, think I've said before Joe was terrible with tummy bugs til about 2 and a half, but touch wood hasn't had one for years now. Don't you dare spend holiday money on washing machine! Oh just stick it on the credit card! Sorry to hear about the cat too.
How are the poorly ones? Z and T? Hope they are much better now Chacha lovely to hear about Y's new words!
Panda, hope the rest of O's week goes well, LOL at dodgeball rules!
Anyway, need to be tidying, have sister and BIL-to-be coming round later and Jess has crashed out asleep on sofa again (after another dry morning at playgroup!) so should take advantage of quiet time and get stuff sorted! Speak later x

ChaCha · 05/06/2008 14:18

Hi BTKS - was going to phone you this week if you hadn't posted as haven't even seen you on scrabble. I'm sorry to hear about beloved pet, T and then the washing machine - they say it happens in 3's don't they? Well i sure hope that's your lot! See if you can get one of those buy it later deals on washing machine as holiday is much needed - you have had so much going on this year and you all could do with a break. Will phone you anyway for a catch up - will text first to see when is best.

Rodeo & Panda - Big wave 'Hellllooooooo'

Nova - So my baby arrived today!!! He he! I was so happy, had forgotten all about my nurse then m/w appt so ended up rushing out this morning to surgery, nurse insisted on giving DS1 typhoid injection then DS2 his long awaited MMR and i ended up being there for much longer than i had anticipated. Finally got home and as i settled one to bed and the other tired and moany when the doorbell rang I was sooooooo pleased!!! So here it is....DH is bringing me home lunch so has been told to entertain the DC while i see to my present - Thanks Nova.

DS1 still with temperature, was 40+ last night so had plenty of meds and cold shower/bath, TLC, am hoping they will be better by weekend as i really need to be doing stuff now. Am getting v.irritable with everyone and everything at moment esp DH poor man. Kind of now wishing that i'd waited for holiday for when baby is here but i really couldn't face 3 under 3 on plane and all the rest of it. Was now or never while DH had to go anyway....i think he is starting to worry...tee tum....moan....lol

Best be off. xxx

Rodeo · 06/06/2008 17:06

All quiet on the Nov 05 front.....
Congrats on the pushchair arrival Chacha! Thanks to our resident fairy godmother Nova
Hope the boys are better Chacha, not long til you'll be jetting off!
Right better be going, tired children keep falling out, better get back to role of chief negotiator x x x

mypandasgotcrabs · 07/06/2008 08:35

Woooo! Foo Fighters tonight. Can't wait!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 07/06/2008 19:07

ooooo now that's something to be looking forward to tonight Panda, you'll have no voice and no hearing tomorrow!

Well, miniman took his first steps on thursday . We were waiting for our swim class and he just stood up (first time he's done that on his own as well) took 3 steps then sat back down again. I was bounding with excitement, but no-one else has seen it. We now keep making him stand up and walk, poor love. He also swam by himself with a noodle (long thin float to those who're thinking of the eating variety) for the first time on thursday, so a busy day all round.

Lovely day in the park today, although both are now in bed early. Have a 3rd birthday party to go to tomorrow. It's a pirate and princess theme, and we went to get noo a princess dress today but ended up with a pirate outfit for her! She looks really cool, I'll try and get some pics up on yahoo if i remember to take some tomorrow.

Was our 4th anniversary on thursday, and we went for a lovely dinner at Claridges. We ordered too much food and felt really sick by the end - no change there then! Have also discovered a wonderful bakery on Portobello Road that does the most divine cupcakes, yummy.

Rodeo, thanks for the update on Twinkle.

Beks, sorry to hear life is so poo for you at the moment. I'm not very good at inspirational messages, but I'm wishing you all the best x

Chacha, if you get stuck with anything on the buggy you could always pop into a local mothercare or something and question the staff there, or stop someone on the street with the same one . I'm always more than happy to talk about my buggies to people, and I've had someone run across a road to stop me before to ask me about my Phil & Teds.

My new buggy has finally been shipped from NZ so it should be here in a week or two depending on how slow the courier is .

Sorry for any news I may have missed, just trying to use the computer quickly before DH takes it over again. He's been putting his entire CD collection (approx. 3000 so far) on a hard drive and then onto his ipod, so I don't get much of a look in at the moment.

novadandypowder · 07/06/2008 21:58

Rodeo - you missed out the most important bit of Dieges update, a BFP

ChaCha · 07/06/2008 23:32

Evening ladies,

Congratulations Miniman on first steps and Happy Belated Anniversary Nova Hope the DC enjoy birthday party.
Enjoyed assembling the P&T today, almost there now just have to attach hood and get myself used to it really, taking it for test drive tomorrow. Coming out of restaurant with ILs on Friday when i spotted a mum pushing one (exactly the same!) so there was me, DH, FIL & MIL all stood staring across the road and smiling away at pushchair in action lol!

Panda, hope you've had a good night!

Thanks Rodeo, did take DS1 to emergency GP this evening as we thought he might have chicken pox. Total panic set in but apparently not CP at all and either sensitivity rash for which we just need some piriton syrup or could be viral, or a reaction to Thu's typhoid. Phew!!!! Now here's hoping we actually get away virus free.

BB - Was wondering how you are and how your dad is doing? Haven't seen you post in a while.

Late night for me, can't sleep and really uncomfortable, do not know what i was thinking of by going away

Love to all x

ChaCha · 07/06/2008 23:33

Oooooooooh....congrats to Diege family Here's to a health and happy PG [clink]

novadandypowder · 08/06/2008 07:48

Chacha, I always think that putting a buggy together is the best way of knowing it inside out. The hood is possibly the most tricky part! There are two tiny red marks that the back supports are supposed to be fed through, a bit hard to see if you don't know what you're looking at. Also, I found it a little hard to work out how to keep the front wheel in swivel mode - if you haven't done it yet that may be a job for asking someone, it involves twiddling knobs . The only accessory I reccommend for you to buy is the coccoon. You'll only use it for a couple of months, but in the early days I found it fantastic. They usually come up on ebay, or the cheapest place to order online is a NZ place, Winkalotts. It'll take a couple of weeks, but if you want it in a hurry try kiddicare

mypandasgotcrabs · 08/06/2008 19:37

Well done Miniman on 1st steps & Happy Annniversary Nova.

Congratulations to Diege, that certainly didn't take long, if you could wish her al the best Rodeo.

ChaCha, good news that ds1 doesn't have anything nasty, but doc certainly keeping his options open at what could be wrong!

Well, last night was amazing! They were truly awesome. I travelled up by myslef and met a friend up htere who'd travelled down from Manchester. He was a little late, but I got chatting to lots of random people in the pub and made a few new friends. Really starnge how you end up doing things you would never usually do, e.g. went to the toilet in the bar and left my bag with said random people, also gave random people monye to get me a t-shirt so that i didn;t have to queue. Was really good to finally meet C after 6 months of 'knowing' each other and we got on just as well in RL as we do online, adn planning on looking out for other big gigs to go to together.

Am absoolutely shattered now, would be in bed actually if O wasn't in my bed, but S not totally asleep so I have to move O into his bed once S is asleep. PITA, but S will keep them awake until 10 otherwise. Took them to the park today, were there for hours, never usually there that long. But I have no worries about O at his new school whatsoever, as within 5 mins of us being there he's com running up to me saying that 2 of his friends from school were there, and both boys made lots of other new friends while they were there. It feels really different up this end of town, more relaxed & less bitchy I think.

Neighbours here are lovely, have had good luck cards through from some. Really happy with the move.

Well I'm off to put some pics & vids from last night on fb, then off to bed. Night night xx

Hello all - am still here!

No real news here - things just mega hectic as usual - trying to get loads sorted for Brownie Camp and have meeting with parents of those coming, on Tuesday night - so have to get all forms and so on ready, and take examples of all bits of kit etc!

As far as my Dad goes - nothing to report as yet - he is back in to hospital for a scan tomorrow morning (8.30am) then he sees his consultant on Friday for the results hopefully of all he has had done - it will be nice to get the verdict and relax.....so fingers crossed.

Have been out and about on my new bike (DH takes T in the little trailer we have for him) it is fab! am going to pledge to cycle to my Nanna's at least once a week (have done it twice this week already!) Also went down to Somerset to see DHs Nan yesterday, she was 80 on Friday, so we went down to spend the day with her - very nice - T did me proud and sang Happy Birthday beautifully!

Chacha - fingers crossed that your poorly boy gets better soon and that you manage to get away on hols bug free!
Beks - how is your T now? Things have been a bit pants for you - hope things are now heading in the right direction?
Hope everyone else is ok - will try not to be away for so long next time!

...tonight I mastered the shoulder mount

novadandypowder · 09/06/2008 21:39

However, I may not be able to move my left arm tomorrow

BTKsmum · 10/06/2008 12:32

I take it we're talking horse riding here Nova if not he funniest image has just entered my head of yourushing round the living room on top of you dh a belated happy anniversary too.

Well done mini man for taking your first steps, your mummy willbe so glad you're able to do that when yu go in the opposite direction to noo

Chacha glad it wasn't anything too serious with Z, there is a virus doing the rounds that looks a bit like cp as my friends little fgirl had it just before the baby was born.

Congrats too to Diege, send her my best wishes pls Rodeo.

BB hope the news is good for your dad today, you have a very worrying time, but sounds like you're as busy as ever, how do you do it woman.

Panda glad you had a good time at the Foo Figthers and that C was as nice in rl as you expected.

Things here are on the up, mil has booked the holiday, dh managed to fix the washing machine, it had eaten the backstrap of one of my bras, no mean feat, and we've decided to get a couple of gerbils who are to be called Buster and Ziggy, not a patch on having the cat roaming around but she can't be replaced easily after 13 years.

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather, hi to all not mentioned personally, Beks
