Heres to a good week everyone and a good week for Panda!!! Beks

Rodeo · 28/04/2008 11:45

Morning
Brownie, yes make sure your Dad gets his anti-biotics today if he's still in pain, poor man. Are they strong enough? You must be so worried, sending my best wishes for him to make a good recovery
Panda, hope S is a bit better today, poor boy. Are the antiboitics you got bright pink? We had to try and get some down Jess a few weeks ago for a poorly toenail she had and it was impossible! Was really cross they prescribe that foul liquid to toddlers, it can be hard enough getting calpol down them! The chemist tried to fob me off saying all penicillin tastes that way and I'd have to go back to the doctors if I wanted to get something else. Needless to say I was in a foul mood when I left! I certain it wasn't that bad when I was little! Sorry for the mini-rant! Anyway hope you don't have the same trouble, hope he gets better soon
Nova, sounds like a lovely weekend Ooooh at 'knees of steel'
Right books, hmmm...
I only read ones I like I'm afraid - after reading so many I find some are soooo annoying! So my favourite toddler books are
Jenet & Allen Allberg picture book (esp. The Baby's Catalogue)
Rock a bye farm by Diane Johnstone Hamm
Toes are to tickle by Shen Roddie
Shirley Hughes picture books
And the Mog books
Books I don't mind/quite like are the Usbourne Farmyard books, The Amazing machines Collection, Axel Scheiffer books, Hairy McClary/Slinky Malinki books, Peppa Pig books though I try to stay away from most of the TV character books because the text can be sooo dreary so I just concentrate on the pictures! I've never liked Dr Suess, so they don't get a look in unless DP reads them!
Had quite a nice weekend, the weather was lovely Though had such a thunder storm and sheets of rain yesterday evening so ended up with an hour long power cut as I was making sunday dinner!
Righ better post now before connection shuts off, blooming internet, grumble, grumble...
Bye for now, I'm in my last week of my twenties this week! Enjoy the sunshine today, speak soon x

Rodeo · 28/04/2008 12:09

AmI - Oh just read your other thread, how awful are you ok? What a git - you should definitely report him! x

mypandasgotcrabs · 28/04/2008 20:57

Hiya, little mans much better today, he doesn't like his medicine that's for sure, but he's still really good taking it which is a bonus. Yes, Rodeo, it's the radioactive pink stuff!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 30/04/2008 11:48

Panda, great news that your little man is on the mend. Noo is a complete medicine junkie, although radioactive pink does sound like a bit of a stretch!

Well, we're off to the beach house tomorrow for the bank holiday weekend - wellies are all ready to go . Hoping I've managed to order everything I need online, I'll soon find out.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, here's hoping for some sun.

Rodeo · 30/04/2008 12:09

Morning
So glad he's lots better Panda - how've you managed with the vile pink stuff?!
Nova, have a lovely time this weekend, I'm hoping it warms up too!
Not much news here, have just ordered Jess a new 'capsule' wardrobe! She hardly has any left as I charity bag things she's grown out of but then forget to replenish them, so she has a nice bright bundle coming
Off up to check on the horses over lunch (they're turned out now so lot less mucking out to do, yay) and then off to soft play this afternoon, so speak later x x x

BTKsmum · 02/05/2008 18:29

mypandasgotcrabs · 03/05/2008 21:52

Hi all. How are you all enjoying yor weekend so far? Today has been rather eventful to say the least! Brief rundown:

Taking boys to see Playhouse Disney at Brighton.
Left at 10.45, aiming to get there by 12 to get lunch, have wander, get to Brighton Centre for 1, for show at 1.30.
Arrived at edge of Brighton at 12.45.
Got to seafront area at 13.20.
All ncp car parks full.
Was directed to a car park - £5 all day, not too far from centre.
Parked, muddiest car park you have ever seen. So hot sunny day I have mud all up my jeans & over my trainers.
Ran to Brighton Centre, through the busiesst streets you have ever seen (Brighton festival started today), got htere late, fortunately only just started.
Show was great, boys loved it and really got into it, Owen was asked to go on stage, but didn't want to!
Left there, got some food, went on beach for a bit, then onto pier, walked back to car. (This was aproblem as I had only a vague idea of where I'd actualy left it!) Got straight there fortunately, although was a 35 min walk.
Go to car, it was clamped! I thought it was an all day car park, hadn't read the sign or the ticket properly.
Had to call my dad, he then drove up to Brighton, so we wetn back to beach, found a road and walked straight dwon it, ound we'd actually only been a 10 min walk from Brighton enre all along! (And had I known that wouldn't have got clamped)
Had no idea how to get to car once my dad arrived because of all the one way systems in Brighton.
Eventually left Brighton at 8pm!
Sean cried the whole way home.
Got home at 9pm!
Boys tucked up in bed & then made me cry becuase they both told me they love me!

Well OK, maybe not so brief!

LaylaandSethsmum · 03/05/2008 22:10

Hi Panda - nightmare trip! have you got your car back then now? Glad show was good though!

Rodeo - happy birthday now you are officially 30! hope you've had a good day.

Weekends pretty quiet for us DH is at work all weekend so just pottering really. I am going into hospital on tuesday to have my vaicose veins removed eurgh! Not looking forward to that but I get 2 weeks off work , which is always a bonus

Hope the sun is shining for you Nova, we are forecast heavy rain tomorrow thats my idea of a bike ride out of the window.

Cha Cha how are you doing? Hope alls well.

Hi to everyone else to Ami, Londoner, Beks.

I don't wish to dredge up all the old stuff but Diege and Twinkle , i hope you and your families are both well and tbh, I hope that in the future when things have properly calmed down, you might feel able to pop back on and tell us how things are going. Good luck with the ttc Diege and I hope your pregnancy carries on without any problems Twinkle.

xxxxx

mypandasgotcrabs · 05/05/2008 12:58

Hiya! Nova how are Noo & Miniman? Have just heard from Beks that T is now spotty.

OP posts:
BTKsmum · 05/05/2008 20:16

Woo hoo we're the house of the spots!!!

Panda brighton sounds a nightmare, glad the boys enjoyed the show though.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the bank holiday weekend.

Beks

novadandypowder · 06/05/2008 20:29

Hi ladies, well, we had a wonderful time with lots of sunshine . No spots so far Panda, think we're probably in the clear. Looks like DH has found a house for BIL, he's going to put in an offer tomorrow. Hopefully that means he'll be out of the beach house in a few months .

It's really been a wonderful extended weekend, had a friend down with her 3yo ds and he and noo got on very well. Felt a bit sad to be coming back to it all today, could've done a few more days of sun on the beach.

L&S lovely to read your post.

Brownie, hope you've found us??

Panda, nightmare car story, parking is the only thing that really puts me off driving places. I remember when a friend came to visit me and parked on the wrong side of the road (one side pay & display, one side permits) she got clamped and had to stump up £100 to get released. I felt soooo guilty.

Beks, at least you've now got CP out the way, I'm just waiting for it to hit us......

Hope chacha is well, and everyone else is feeling good

ChaCha · 07/05/2008 14:08

Hi girls,

Hope everyone is well and sympathies BTKS on CP - both boys? Let us know how you all are. How is your LO recovering Panda? And sorry to hear about your day but lovely to hear that your dad was able to save the day - lovely man! Ami - saw your post and felt awful for you, can truly imagine how you must have felt. I have had some horrid moments on public transport and they can leave you feeling quite vulnerable.
Nova - Beach house sounds as relaxing and peaceful as always, just sitting in the garden this morning thinking of a holiday - would really love Turkey again, affordable, not too far and we all love it.

All is well here, i have home help/nanny three/four times a week for 3-4 hours an afternoon. She started today and has been out in the garden since the boys had their lunch at 12.30. I have done lots and am now sat having a break, having her around is going to make a massive difference. DH just can't be around much and was happy for me to have the help - nice to know that as i get towards end of pregnancy i can look forward to a rest and help in the house or just with the boys - I am thrilled! No longer feeling bitter about lack of grandparent help (or any other so called 'relative' for that matter)

Will be on again soon to see how everyone is, hope you are all enjoying gorgeous weather. Oh and yes, also hope Twinkle and babies are well as other absent friends.

novadandypowder · 09/05/2008 09:24

Well, I guess the sunshine is keeping everyone away from their computers!

Rodeo, hope you're enjoying life in your 30's, IMO it's better than your 20's, although I still don't class myself as a grown up.

Chacha, the mothers help sounds like a fab idea, you'll feel like a new woman in no time. It's amazing how much difference an extra pair of hands can make, and I'm sure your DH will reap the benefits too.

Beks, hoping the spots aren't giving T too much trouble.

novadandypowder · 09/05/2008 19:42

come on, where are all you lovely ladies?

BTKsmum · 09/05/2008 20:04

Hi Nova think we'd better call an ambulance & the crash team looks like the thread is having a cardiac arrest, lets hope it makes a full recover

feetheart · 09/05/2008 21:43

Hello, I'm here though have been out in the sunshine as much as possible this week just in case this is summer

Rats about CP BEKS though am tempted to visit, not that it has done much good up till now - T has played closely with every friend that has had CP and failed to produce even a pimple. Run out of infected friends about this time last year. At least when mine do get it everyone can come here and play as they have all had it

Nova - beach house sounds lovely. I have lived over here and away from the sea for 23 years now () and still really miss it. One of the best days out we had last summer was a day trip to Southend as the children played on the beach all day (NEVER, ever thought I would have 'best day' and 'Southend' in the same sentence) Tessa still talks about it and is already planning this year's trip!!
40's is even better than 30's as far as I'm concerned and I've a feeling I won't ever feel like a grown-up

ChaCha - having some help sounds wonderful. I struggle with not having family close (self-absorbed SiL does NOT count as she does less than b*gger all ) but most of my friends are in a similar position and we do help each other as much as we can.
Saw your photos on Yahoo a few weeks ago which brought back lots of memories as DH and I had a fantastic holiday in the same place in Turkey pre-children. I'd love to take them back there one day - beach heaven

Keep enjoying the sunshine everyone and have a good w/e

BrownieBells · 09/05/2008 22:04

Hello - oops how embarassing - I was both watching and posting on the old thread - what a wally! think I can be excused tho as have nightmare few days (feel self absorbed post coming...)

Update on Dad - having come out of hospital and slowly starting to recover (although not able to have T as normal) he had specialist appt this week and now has to go back into hospital to have a bronchoscopy to establish what is going on in his lung as they suspect some form of blockage (so not out of the woods with him yet )

T - well, he has really been suffering with hayfever again, so Thursday he went to docs and we have allergy syrup and eye drops on repeat. Went to nursery - then that afternoon I get a call to say he has a couple of spots and since CP was going round nursery (first I'd heard of that) could we collect him and get him checked out (if docs confirm NOT CP then he could go back the next day) anywho - he went to docs and needless to say WE NOW HAVE THE CHICKEN POX (or cicken pops as T calls them!)

Oridnarily this would have all been taken in my stride, however I have been on an intensive project management course this week (Prince 2) and had an exam today and have had homework etc. so I couldn't take time out of work to take T to docs so was glad that DH has a flexible enough job to do that for me.

Oh and on top of all this -as my Mum has an auto-immune disease, and is on millions of drugs, CP could be v serious for her too.

Oh and did I mention that I haven't had the Chicken Pox either!?

Right - now that I have unloaded all of that.....how are all the other who have the CP? Panda - how is S doing now? He was quite poorly wasn't he?
BTK - hope your T is ok.
Chacha - good to hear from you and glad that you finally have some form of help on a day to day/ week to week basis - it makes all the difference.
Rodeo - hope you had a fab birthday.....30 is the new 20 and we will never grow up - so I say we will always have fun

Best go - thank you for reading this far - you are a patient lot

B

BTKsmum · 09/05/2008 23:37

Thought we'd flat lined there for minute

Oh Brownie sweetheart, what a nightmare hope they manage to find out whats happening with your dad soon. What a nightmare situation with your mum as well. Hope T doesn't suffer too badly with the chicken Pox, my T's have got infected so he's not a happy chicken - excuse the pun

Life sounds very hectic in your house, hope you guys have enough time for yourselves as well. Hope you don't get the pox !

Feetheart you should have said you could have come down earlier in the week!
Lol at Southend and best day ever in the same sentence

Chacha glad you've got some help you really deserve it, it will make these last weeks so much easier.

Right dh has just got in so i'd better pay him some attention for 5 minutes, have a great weekend all Beks

novadandypowder · 10/05/2008 17:03

That's more like it, thought I was going to have to find myself some new cyber friends!

We too have been out as much as possible, although have had to wait in twice this week for our boiler to be fixed...grrr..

Going to a party tonight, woo hoo, I'm even going to attempt some false eyelashes...I give it about 5 mins before I give up trying to put them on....

Feetheart, hopefully BIL should be out of the beach house soon so you and T&A are more than welcome to come and spend a sunny day in Goring by Sea. I'm also guessing this might be our summer, lol

novadandypowder · 10/05/2008 17:04

Brownie, I can't believe you've avoided CP so far. My friend has recently had it along with her two kids and her nanny. Best wishes for your dad x

mypandasgotcrabs · 10/05/2008 23:34

Hi everyone. How are we all?

How are the 2 spotty T's? Beks, I hope the ab's are clearing them up quickly for him, sorry again, S obviously had a bad strain of them . BB, hope you're ok with all thats happening. I've also never had chicken 'spots' (as my 2 call them), but was tested when pg with S, as O had them then, and was immune.

ChaCha, the help sounds wonderful & well deserved.

Any success with the eyelashes Nova?

I'm not sure what's happened to me, but my bottom lip has swelled up massively, I had a right pout about half hour ago, but I can feel it getting worse . I really hope it improves overnight, as I will be stuck in the house tomorrow
