Lets start again girls!

ChaCha · 07/12/2008 20:59

I promised to log in more often so here I am.
Feetheart, sounds wonderful - great that the DC enjoyed it so much, makes it all worthwhile. Sorry to hear about the cat, poor thing, must have had an awful scare when mouse fought back! What a nice friend to look after him/her while you were away, must have put your mind to rest somewhat.
Good luck with festivities.

Panda - Hi! Hope whatever it was has finally cleared and that you're all okay.

My kids are full of the colds, full blown ones that have them vomiting from time to time and really bad tummies Keeping a watchful eye on the baby as i couldn't bear it if he got what they have but of course, it's probably inevitable. Finding little time for much at the moment and have some interviews set up this week for home help again. I really do need at least an hour a day to prepare meals, ready clothes, tidy etc.. there's only so much supervising you can do round the table while you're cooking.

Well, thats me. Am off for a hot chocolate and painkillers, period from hell since giving up the b/f.

Hi ladies, well done for keeping this thread going, I've been letting the side down since getting into FB. I usually only have time to commit to one or the other.

Feetheart, the holiday sounds like a dream. We're looking forward to taking the kids away again at some point. I'm trying to get DH to agree to EuroDisney before noo starts school in sept. Think miniman might also be old enough next august to go to the Edinburgh festival. I've started taking him along to the theatre shows I take noo to, and he's pretty good.

Brownie, glad baby brownie is doing well, hope your dad is doing ok too.

Chacha, hope the boys are on the mend. We've been told to expect a bad winter for miniman, and that because of his bad chest he's going to be at a higher risk of pneumonia. He's on puffers 4 times a day, and will be for the foreseeable future.

We've put noo and miniman into a bedroom together (finally) and so far it's going ok. I'm amazed at how much noise noo can sleep through!

Looking forward to christmas. We're off to the beach house for 10 days with lots of family staying/visiting. Am glad to have got all of my shopping sorted and wrapped. Noo is getting a bike and a guitar as her main presents, and miniman is getting a brio train set and lots of night garden toys. Have had a big pre-xmas clear out of old toys and given them away on freecycle, so we've got a bit more room for all the new stuff.

Both kids can swim, I'm amazed at how well they're doing, it really makes freezing my butt off twice a week worth it!

They're both doing well at the moment, I love it when they play and laugh together.

Will try not to leave it so long next time x

BTKsmum · 11/12/2008 20:36

Hi girls, good to see some new posts i must admit I'm a facebook junkie too and waste hours per day on there

Nova Christmas sounds lovely being at the beach house. Well done Noo and Miniman on learning to swim.

Nova how frightening does that sound that Noo will be going to school next year, when will she start as Tom won't start until September 2010 a month before he's 5?

Feety, glad to hear the holiday went so well and the you all had a good time, poor cat though, fancy a mouse putting up that much of a fight - eek! Glad he's ok now though, I'm sure he's just added character to his features and makes him look tough so that the mice won't be brave enough to fight back next time

Chacha sorry to hear your lot are poorly, not what you need, hope they are all onthe mend soon. Hope you got the stuff I sent you on facebook about home schooling while you were away.

Brownie, hope you are keeping well and that your dad is ok?

Panda hope you are ok, ex p sounds like he's being a prat, nightmare about him losing his job. Really feeling for you with regards to yours, hope you're coping ok?

Am super proud mum at the moment as Ben was one of two narrators in the school nativity and the two of them had loads to say and were absolutely fantastic, then Tom was in his nativity today and did what was expected of him rahter than running to me like they thought he would

Right see you all on facebook, if i don't see you on here, love to all Beks

novadandypowder · 12/12/2008 10:10

Noo starts school in sept, just before she turns 4. The private school we're sending her to has the option of starting at 4 or 5, so we thought it better to start noo earlier. It'll only be half days for the first term, so she'll actually be doing less hours than she is at nursery (sob).

We've moved miniman back into his own bedroom. We think noo's snoring was keeping him awake! Noo was asking after him last night though, so I think she quite liked having the company. We might try again in a few months time. I quite like the idea of them sharing, I think it can be quite bonding.

Well done to yours on the nativity play front Btks, I will hopefully be experiencing that next year (prepares the tissues).

feetheart · 12/12/2008 15:29

I REALLY will have to sort out Facebook, I'm on there, just bit of a novice and haven't tried to change that yet!

Thanks for stuff about the cat - he did look a bit hard BTKS but it didn't keep the mice away. Sadly it also didn't keep the cars away either and on the way back from taking T to school on Tuesday A and I found him dead on a neighbour's drive He hadn't even made it to 18 mths but had obviously used up all his 9 lives - something about bright stars burning quickly probably applies. Bit of a sad household here as a result, I wouldn't have believed how much he had become part of our lives. Saying that T has already chosen a name for our next cat
Hoping for better weather over the w/e as DH and I have a big hole to dig!

novadandypowder · 12/12/2008 17:32

oh Feetheart I can't believe that about your cat, so sad. Will you get another one? Our kids are obsessed with the cats, the black & white one gets the most attention. They will actually now take food from their hands, although they mainly still run in the other direction. Noo has started wanting to kiss and cuddle them, but doesn't get very far. Every now and then I pin one of them down for a bit of molesting! Have some funny pictures of miniman laying on top of the cats in their beds when they've not been quick enough. There's a kids book called 'Frog & the Birdsong' that deals with the death of an animal.

mypandasgotcrabs · 12/12/2008 19:31

Oh, so sorry to hear about your cat FH Sounds like he lived life to the full for sure.

Gotta go dry/straighten/curl (oh the damage I must do!) my hair in a mo as my friend is taking me out later, then tomorrow I'm having a birthday/Girls Aloud/X-factor final party.

Am having dilemmas over Christmas Eve as obviously I want to be home as that's my fave part of Christmas, the children's excitement, hanging stockings, but I also want to be at work as it looks like that's the day we close . And I really want to be there when we do, it's mad how a little job I've only been in for 7 months has got me like it has, but it'll be emotional & I want to be there at the end, but we'll see what happens I guess.

OP posts:
mypandasgotcrabs · 12/12/2008 19:32

Ooooh my post looks really sad with those blue faces on it, but thats not how I'm feeling at all. I'm looking on the bright side, seeing hte positives, so lots of

OP posts:
BrownieBells · 15/12/2008 20:29

Hey all (waves)

This might be a long post so sorry before I start, and for those of you that get all the way to the end - thank you.

The last couple of weeks, I have tos ay have been the worst of my entire life.

First of all, the situation with my Dad - when he was in hospital earlier this year, with pneumonia etc, he had loads of blood tests. When he came out they tested his immune system, and his consultant noticed an abnormality in the results that he wasn't happy with & referred him to a blood specialist.
The upshot of this is that he has abnormal white cells in his system, and has had to have a bone marrow biopsy. Basically, if there are only a few abnormal cells - this would explain his lack of immune system, but there is little they can do. If there is a lot of abnormal cells then this sifnifies cancer and he would need to start chemotherapy.

As you can imagine, this was all a bit of a side swiping shock......

Then I had the results of my triple test.....which showed an increased risk of Down Syndrome. Found this out on the Friday, so as you can imagine I was beside myself for the whole weekend, as couldn't even speak to the midwife at the hospital till the Monday. Went over to to see her on the Monday, and made the decision to have an amnio test.
Had the amnio on the Wednesday morning and then had to wait until the Friday afternoon to find out the prelimanary results - which were all clear
Still waiting for the full results which will also tell me the sex of the baby.

However, had 20 week scan today - all looked fine on the scan,n so big sigh of relief!! Also, first shot of baby on the screen clearly showed his willy standing to attention!!! So another boy here T came with us, and when we explained it was a girl - he said "but I prefer girls I do. I wanted a sister!!" I think he'll come round.

Well - thanks for getting this far - hopefully the above explains why I have been absent without permission for a while - just couldn't deal with much during those couple of weeks.

Next post will update you on my wonderful little boys performance as a sheep at his nativity!!!!!

Thanks again

Brownie

BTKsmum · 17/12/2008 10:55

Hello ladies

Blimey Brownie, what a rough few weeks, hope the news for your dad is as positive as possible, neither result would be good, a lack of immune systerm will leave him open to all sorts and Chemo is very worrying but at least they will be trying to do the best for him. Will keep everything crossed for you all.

That must have been very scary with regards to bump, glad all the tests gave you better odds and I hope the full results put your mind at rest, although you are such a capable woman I reckon you'd take it all in your stride anyway. What great news that you are having another boy, welcome to the two boy club

Feetheart, so sorry to hear about your cat, thats really sad, sounds like he led a full if short life though.

Panda don't know which way to advise you, can understand why you'd want to be at work as you've made some great friends there and being at home is lovely on Christmas Eve, although I always find rather more stressful than I'd like with over excited children who don't want to sleep

Nova I understand now how Noo will be starting school, you'll absolutely love this time next year, they are all so adorable in ther nativity plays.

Right best go and amuse demon spawn, he's not much fun at the moment but I'm hoping its ust a phase, he's spending a hell of a lot of time onthe stairs at the moment!

Hope everyone else is well Beks

ChaCha · 17/12/2008 22:02

Nearly splurted my tea out at 'spending a lot of time on the stairs'
Been there last week and learnt to de-clutter the stairs before doing any time out on them

FH - Sorry to hear about your dad I second what Beks has said as i am not v.good with what to say in these situations. Sending you a big hug!
I admire your getting through pregnancy, all i ever did was moan, i truly look back and wonder how the heck i managed 3 in a row Well done you and congratulations on another little boy!!! Fab news! Thanks for sharing and looking fwd to more baby news.

Nova - LOL at Noo's snoring, DS1 and 2 do it in unison so no worries there! They just share the bottom bunk which is a double although when they are ill we separate them though so that we only have the one on our hands. I agree with you on the bonding thing. Cannot believe Noo will be at school next year [gulp]
FH - Sorry about the family cat
Panda - Whatever happens hope you have a lovely night be it at home or at work. Enjoy yourself.

Everyone is asleep here, it's lovely to have some peace and quiet alone. The nanny started on Tuesday, i didn't bother interviewing anyone else she was ready to start and i liked her straight away. She comes 4 days a week for 4 hours a day and plays with the boys, folds their laundry, puts it away, serves their lunch etc.. while i get on with other things. Today she had a return bus ticket home but insisted on pushing the pram for me and sitting with the younger 2 in a coffee shop while i did my shopping (out of hours) so i got her a coffee and toddled off for 20 minutes. She's really lovely and am so happy for a bit of time to myself - she also took kids to park today and they were v.happy which makes me positive about home schooling and not being stuck with me all day - we can easily all hav enough of each other.

I remember Diege posting a while back, no more posts then? Hope PG is going well.

Remember the days when our threads would be finished before they started sob
love x

mypandasgotcrabs · 19/12/2008 17:43

Hi, Brownie, all the best for your dad & you & your family.

Ooh, love the sound of your nanny ChaCha, well deserved help & rest for you.

Still don't know which day will be the last. Havenow lost all motivation for working & doing Deloitte any favours at all. And now don't even care about what I write about the whole situation.

xp may be moving back up to Wales which doesn't upset me a huge amount, but does mean I won't ever get a weekend off, and I think I'll go nuts if thats the case!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 21/12/2008 20:01

Brownie didn't want your post to go unresponded on by me, just had a busy few days packing everything off to the beach house. Best wishes with regards to your dad, sending you strength x Glad bump issues have sorted themselves out, hopefully you can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy x

Panda, the job situation sucks big time, hoping you can enjoy christmas still.

Btks, had to snigger at demon spawn, and chacha agree about the stair de-cluttering before time out.

If I don't get on again, Merry Christmas everyone x

BrownieBells · 23/12/2008 22:22

Thanks everyone - Thoughts and wishes mean a lot. Hopefully will have some more news on Dad on New Years Eve.

Just wish this bloomin back and sciatica would bugger off now (physio has now resorted to crutches to assist my walking - aagghh!)

On a very positive note - only 2 sleeps to go
We are leaving our dummies out for Father Christmas to take to babies that need them, alont with the mince pie etc - in the hopes that the big FC will leave a special surprise in return for said dummies!

Lots of love and festive wishes to all - probably won't get on much over Christmas period - but you are all in my thoughts.

xxx

mypandasgotcrabs · 24/12/2008 08:31

I still have this pregnancy to get through - and would rather share with you guys, and can't even begin to keep up with another antenatal thread!?

Please?

xx

mypandasgotcrabs · 12/01/2009 20:20

Hey Brownie hope you're ok & baby not giving you too much grief! Get yourself over to facebook, I've sent a message to everyone on there. Thought it better to do it on there as hoping everyone would check their facebook/email more than they would here. Don't you worry, we'll all be around for you, unfortunately it does look like the tumbleweed has got the better of this thread . I for one have certainly been through far too much the last few years to let this group of friends fall by the wayside.

FEETHEART I think you're the only one not on facebook, if I have missed anyone else, then sorry, let me know . Basically I've sent a message out to everyone asking about how we all feel about a get together. Would be great if you could make it. I seem to remember you saying you do have a profile on there, but I haven't been able to find you. If you are there, come & find us! I will try & get onto the yahoo group (if I can remmeber my login etc) and see if your email address is on there, and contact you through that too in case you don't read this.

BTKsmum · 14/01/2009 13:46

Hope everyone else is well Beks

BTKsmum · 30/01/2009 20:31

It really has come to an end hasn't it, so sad to see the end of this thread.

Keep in touch ladies.
