Congratulations daizydoo, one of my antenatal friends had another baby 4 weeks ago and another is pregnant.
We have to wait a bit longer.

Hi there, anyone elses little ones having temper tantrums? DS seems to have a strop at the slightest thing at the moment , thankfully it doesn't last long.

marmitemad · 23/09/2008 12:06

Hi daizydo, congrats on your news .

no tantrums here (well not for a while now) but we are having terrible, terrible trouble with teething. dd has woken screaming every night for the past 2 weeks and then just sobs for hours which is proving very difficult to live with. She doesn't seem to respond to meds which made me wonder if she was just playing around but having seen similar behaviour during daytime now I don't think this is the case. I did use ashtons & parsons last night after finding it at the bottom of the basket which got her through until 5:30am. anyone got any magic suggestions?

peachygirl · 23/09/2008 18:40

Hi
We too are still teething here marmite. I find calcold to be good it does send DD off to sleep .
It is however one of those medicines that are now not suitable for children under two so a little fib has to be told in chemists we don't usually frequent....

Please don't think buy lots and drug DD up. It is used very sparingly

marmitemad · 23/09/2008 19:06

we usually give nurofen first and then medised if if she is still screaming/sobbing after at least 1 hour. I am guessing calcold and medised are quite similar? dd just splutters calpol everywhere

peachygirl · 23/09/2008 19:33

Yes I think they are similar.

Hi girls. Sorry to hear of teething and sleeping woes. We have got 12 teeth and seem to have stopped at that for now (4 back teeth in a month was pretty hard work!)
Congrats Daizydoo, hope you've got over shock and all is going well. I'm due in 4 weeks and no idea how I'm going to manage with two. Although I am thinking that it will be easier than trying to waddle after DS at the moment!

andyrobo237 · 28/09/2008 21:12

More teeth here - also sleeping battles - I have to put him in cot and then sit inthe chair for 10 mins while he goes to sleep. he says 'mummy in chair' 'mmummy read book' - well it is better than the screaming battles!

daizydoo · 06/10/2008 14:39

Hi there, hope everyone is well.

Marmite - how's little marmite doing? Is she still waking up screaming? Ds did it for a couple of days a few months ago - it was terrible, you have my sympathy.

Hope all goes well with the new little baby Smudgey! I have wondered in passing how I'll cope with 2, especially when DS runs off!!!

We have found that DS sleeps better at night in a proper bed, rather than his cot, still doesn't sleep all the way through very often - sigh!

marmitemad · 06/10/2008 19:05

Hi daizydo,

We are still having bad nights with mini marmite and no sign of anymore teeth yet. I think she is starting to play around and dh just gives in all the time and lets her watch tv, grr, although I did wonder if she is having nightmares/night terrors as she appeared to be asleep on friday night while screaming her head off. I took her back to the CO this afternoon who declared she was carrying a lot of tension in her neck so we shall see (although she is screaming at this very moment).

Don't worry about managing with 2 dc as several friends it is much easier than they thought, the baby just has to fit in with dc1 and you are much calmer and more experienced 2nd time round. that said I am still debating whether I feel ready to cope with 2.

Wow Smudgeydoodle, that time has just flown by. Please keep us posted with news updates.

peachyghoul · 26/10/2008 16:05

Hi all things still pottering on I thought I would give us a bump.

DD is talking really well now, mainly about the cat.
We have had some bad nights recently but we don't know why.

My parents have been down doing abit of childcare and DD has been spoit rotten. Dh and I went out twice

Sallyallyally · 27/10/2008 12:35

Hello,

Times are hard in our house! We have a small determined, tantruming dictator who makes a lot of noise and says very little!
Good job we love him so much, although I don't think I've ever looked so old!

Sallyallyally · 29/10/2008 19:39

Yikes, just held him down in an attempt to clean his teeth and he has all the second molars through or nearly through....may explain the extreme grumpiness over the past few months (20 or so!).

SmudgeyDoodle · 03/11/2008 21:27

Hi ladies. Well, DS is now a big brother! Baby girl born on 1st November at 11.24pm weighing 8lb 2oz. Will get round to doing a birth story at some point but it was a quick water birth and all went well. We were home the next day and I don't think DS really noticed that I was gone! So far, he's being lovely but my goodness, I'd forgotton how sore nips can get from contstant chewing! Hope everyone else well.

marmitemad · 04/11/2008 09:48

oooh much congratulations to you all, does she have a name yet and any pics?

peachygirl · 04/11/2008 18:54

Wow well done smudgey
I was just being a bit stalkerih and looking for you on the birth announcement threads and here you are!!!!

daizydoo · 05/11/2008 14:45

Oh congrats smudgey!! Am glad everything went well for you

sorkycake · 12/11/2008 22:27

Congrats Smudgemum

Should be joining the chomped nips brigade in about 12 weeks or so, eek!

The dictator-dom is clearly spreading like wildfire

Ds2 is now in a little bed with a babydan rail on and pretty happy in it. The teething has been awful this last fortnight but they seem to be through now thank godness.

He is obsessed with cleaning his teeth, putting on shoes and has discovered Top Gear...wtf??? He's a complete petrol-head.

Absolutely no speech yet, but that doesn't seem to matter as he manages to get what he wants by hook or by crook.

Hope you're all well

SmudgeyDoodle · 13/11/2008 13:01

Sorkycake - I bet the time flies til you have your new LO. Feeding much better now but Annaliesa not very well (full of DS cold!) so not sleeping or feeding very comfortably. I've put a couple of pictures on my profile if any of you fancy a look
DS is still gorgeous with her and wants to hold her all the time. Also, at the first squeak from her, he runs to find me and says "Mammie, Baby, Milk" and if I don't respond he takes my hand to make me sit down and starts pulling my top. Very cute but not sure what'll happen if we're out!
Hope everyone else well. It's funny to be having similar conversations with the Oct 08 girls that we were having back in Feb 07 - poo, nappies, feeding and sleep being the main topics!

Alocin · 18/11/2008 17:01

Hello all!

Long time no speak!

Patrick 21 months now and has delightful tantrums but is a joy most of time. I'm much too selfish to do it again - hats off to those of you who are/have!

andyrobo237 · 10/12/2008 21:17

Where is everyone??!!

DS is both a joy and a horror as well as a comedian and a chatterbox / parrot.

He is not well at the moment - hevy cold - probably man flu!

daizydoo · 14/12/2008 18:09

Hello - we're here. DS can be so cute, but is slowly but surely wreaking havoc in every part of the house! This week he's managed to lose 1 shoe somewhere in the house, but do you think I can find it?!?!?

daizydoo · 05/01/2009 17:22

Hi hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year with their lo's! ds is so cute at the moment as he's learning to say more and more. Although no, no, no is his fav phrase at the moment!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 09/01/2009 22:48

Happy New Year everyone. Can you believe they're nearly 2?? DS is talking lots too and being very cute with his sister. he's showing her things and telling them what they are called - og-urt (yoghurt), pork (spoon!!) car, copter etc etc. He seems quite disappointed that she doesn't repeat it yet! Hope everyone ok and our little terrors lovely more than not!

SmudgeyDoodle · 09/01/2009 22:48

Daizydoo - did you find the shoe? I found DS toothbrush under his mattress the other day
