I think this new extreme mobility is the reason no-one is posting

(pause to remove Don't Call My Mummy Yummy from left leg)

'cos it's hard to string a sentence together using only one eye and one hand

(pause to disentangle DCMMY from computer cables)

so

(pause to intercept lasagne-encrusted fork in mid flight towards computer screen)

let me start ag

(pause to deflect sticky fists from pressing ctrl+alt+down key - try it, it makes your screen turn magically upsidedown)

right,

(pause to pacify thwarted and grumbling DCMMY by singing 'YES MY NAME IS IGGLEPIIIIIIIGGLE' in lieu of it being on CBeebies - damn you Bedtime Hour scheduler!)

well

(pause to check why it's all gone quiet)

ach, forget it - there's a small boy eating fluff off the doormat...

peachygirl · 28/04/2008 22:07

It has been quiet on here. DD has been eating loads too Babydriver I never thought of a growth spurt.
I saw ante natal friends to day one of them was obsessing about putting her childs name down for pre schools and schools . We live in croydon FGS!

Remember I said that we had escaped the Chicken pox?
Well DD is very spotty and has a high temp and is very grumpy... sigh

OP posts:
peachygirl · 02/05/2008 21:14

It's not the pox. It's a reaction to the MMR.

Where is everyone???

OP posts:
andyrobo237 · 04/05/2008 21:09

peachygirl - dont say that - we have MMR booked for tues - he is not in the best moods at the moment - growing one of his back molars - it is part of the way through, but makes him grumpy at night. It is all a bit odd as he as two top and two bottom teeth and no others - so why this one has come before the other our front ones!

he is still a rubbish sleeper - getting up at 5am for milk - would be better if he could opo downstairs and get it himself!!! He will go back to sleep in our bed for at least another hour though, which is some relief - the other week it was 5.45am when we were getting up - far too early for me!!!

babydriver · 04/05/2008 22:09

We're getting a bit of MMR reaction here too - mostly runny nose and a bit of a temperature, nothing that Calpol can't handle. Third molar also coming through so that doesn't help either, but amazingly DS2 is remaining pretty good natured for the most part.

Know what you mean about early starts andyrobo. DS usually wakes at around 6 which I think is just about bearable (but 7 would be so much nicer...), but from time to time goes for 5:20 or something crazy and that really does my head in. At least he mostly sleeps the night through till then.

Enjoy your bank holiday monday folks!

peachygirl · 05/05/2008 20:08

The spots didn't appear until 10 days after andyrobe so keep your eyes peeled. We too are rising at 6 ish in our house which is good on work days as I have plenty of time to get sorted but not at the weekend!

SmudgeyDoodle · 10/05/2008 12:07

Hi everyone. Hope the Measles reactions have cleared up and little ones have worn themselves out in the good weather and are sleeping til 8!
We now have tooth number 2 coming through and that explains why DS has not been so D for the last week. Hope everyone is out enjoying the sun. We're off to the park this afternoon. I wonder if DS will try icecream today or whether I still get to eat it all

babydriver · 15/05/2008 21:56

It's all gone quiet again...

The hot weather was great - DS2 really enjoyed playing outside for hours with sand and water etc.

He's had a bit of an eye infection following the MMR cold but that's all done now. Now going through a wonderfully huggy phase - he gives me fantastic big bear hugs which I just adore. Really chipper at the moment, despite the fact he's got three teeth coming through all at the same time!

Bye for now!

peachygirl · 18/05/2008 21:49

the tumbleweed has been rolling about.DD's been a bit mixed recently lovely at ties but really moaning and wingeing too. Side teeth are coming through but it also happens when I leave the room even inot the kitchen and she can still see me and.. DH is there too.

OP posts:
daizydoo · 20/05/2008 11:33

Hi everyone. It is very quiet on here isn't it! Hope all are well and recovering from their MMR's and teeth coming through. We haven't done the MMR thing yet, but we have side teeth coming and boy is he grumpy at times!!

Eating wise he is the complete opposite to a few months ago and eats almost anything at a rapid pace. Its great, although I'm sure he doesn't drink enough, but I am not going to worry!! Especially as I think he makes up for it at night

We have a climber here and its driving me to distraction. I was preparing supper in the same room as him but somehow he managed to climb onto the table and I got him running across it . I hope this phase doesn't last long as he's taken to trying to climb folded up ladders as well, I dont think my nerves can take much more, but DS thinks its very funny!

suzi2 · 22/05/2008 21:16

Heeellllllooooo. It's been ages, but I'm still about. Just busy I suppose.

DD is clingy too - and I think those premolars are being worked on. Sleep is a bit variable, but on the whole it's a great deal better than it was at the beginning of the year. Oh, and the climbing is driving me batty. I keep finding her balancing on one leg leaping from chair to sofa sort of thing. She's actually teaching DS a few tricks in that department. He was never a huge climber, but I've only realised that now I have a climber IYSWIM.

SmudgeyDoodle · 23/05/2008 12:47

Hi girlies, we're here too. DS is in bed at the moment so I get some peace. I think he must be growing at the moment because he's sleeping really well (long may it last). His thing is trying to work out how things work by taking them apart. I found him with batteries all over the floor the other day as he had undone a screw on the back of a radio!
Glad everyone seems ok. I've now got quite a sizeable bump and really beginning to wonder how on earth I'll fit everything in the day when I've got two to manage. Must update my photos to show off the little walker with 1.5 teeth!

Squack · 26/05/2008 21:29

Sorkyboy sleeps....just
(most of the time, down to one nap now though)

Sorkyboy eats anything
(he's experimenting with soil and anything that the dog will try first)

Sorkyboy likes to fart, run away and climb anything precarious
(he phsl when he does fart, will hide round the sofa to poo, whether nappy is on or not and was recently found hanging from the billy bookcases)

Sorkyboy has developed the speed and agility of a squirrel when avoiding having a bath or nappy on.

Sorkyboy has discovered how the remote control works and turns over the channel when my other dc are watching, then runs and throws the RC out of the cat flap.

Sorkyboy loves cars, trains and trucks and destroying all signs of play that other dc's are engaging in

That concludes our update for the moment. Speak in another 6 months!

peachygirl · 27/05/2008 20:02

Hi all especially those returning to the fold.
we have had a terrible cold and S+D well DD had the last bit, me and DH just felt queasy.

Where are you all?

OP posts:
SmudgeyDoodle · 08/06/2008 12:39

Lovely picture peachy. We had Ds outside in the babybath yesterday and got some really lovely pictures. Must add one to my profile soon. All fine here but DS very cheeky and into destruction ala Sorkyboy!

daizydoo · 10/06/2008 11:09

Hi, we're around. Ds has decided that he's a dog! He'll crawl, growl, bite shoelaces etc. It's really quite amusing!! The amount he drinks during the day is rapidly going down so I am thinking of getting him his own dog bowl to see if that work!!

marmitemad · 10/06/2008 14:23

2 words from me, bloody teeth, 9 more to go!

oh and dd has finally decided its time to find her feet and walk, tis very cute but then all the others have been doing that for months.

have added a few new pics to my profile

babydriver · 15/06/2008 22:01

Well hello folks! Thought it was time I checked in, having been stupidly busy over the last month plus we've been away.

We had a great 2 weeks camping in Brittany - despite the 36hrs of torrential rain as we arrived and the subsequent squidgy boggy patch under our tent floor and at the entrance. DS2 learned how to unzip the tent on day 2 so that he could play mudpies in his pyjamas, and showed off his walking skills by setting off at every opportunity for the furthest reaches of the campsite (thankfully not getting there most times!) He can scoff a croissant in the time it takes to get back to the tent from the campsite shop, and tried to dig to Australia whenever we went to a beach. Great time had by all then!!

Otherwise, he's getting more words and more teeth (only the final back four to go now) and developing a great personality - really cheery, cheeky and affectionate. Also now beginning to be a playmate for his brother on the rare occasions he isn't trashing his games.

Hope everyone's well - looking forward to hearing latest news.

peachygirl · 16/06/2008 19:39

Glad you had a good holiday babydriver and your pictures are lovely marmite.

We're OK. DD has had a bit of a temp and is very mummy mummy at the moment. She is in bed calpoled up!

We have started the journey into reusable nappies I have been trying the few I bought from another mumsnetter and have got some bamboozles off ebay.
The older ones - tots bots cotton ones don't seem very absorbant - any tips?? I am using a microfibre wipe to boost them, (from Poundland)
I went to a nappuchino and a lady there recommended the bamboo nappies.

Hi all - fab piccies!

We are suffering with teeth at the moment - rosy cheeks, dribbling and high temps - then getting in bed with us (obv with help from me!!) in the middle of the night - great for sleeping - not!

Very clear speech at the moment - mummy daddy, ellie, ganma, gandad, harvey (childminders dog), etc, but we cannot get him to say his own name!!

Not eating food very well at the moment - will post on another thread for advice!

babydriver · 01/07/2008 22:30

just popping in. how is everyone? we're doing OK: DS2 is really jolly at the moment, words coming through and he's got a great little nonsense noise going on - sounds like a turkey gobbling which I think is probably what he thinks we all sound like!

peachygirl · 02/07/2008 19:35

We're OK. DD has quite a few words now. I've just had a new kitchen and my house is still a mess.
