Hello all - sorry to barge in, but if you haven't already done so, would you think about completing our sleep survey here? If you do you'll be entered into a lovely comp to win £1250 of rather special, children's furniture. Thanks ever so!

Hi all, DD has an ear infection and the cMs little boy has chicken pox ... so DD might get it too - and if you remmeber way back to our pregnancies I might get it as I wasn't immune! Everything else is fine though.

Hello to the remaining few...
Sorry for not posting in ages but as I'm now the proud mum of a toddling 1 yr old there's not much time left for internetting (as you will see from the time of this post). All is well in the Don'tCallMeYummy household, DCMMY has the nasty big teeth ripping through his gums at the moment so night-time is a bit of a drama, though nothing Calpol can't handle (I so want to be Homeopathic Mum but Chamomilla 200C alone can't combat the 3am screaming). During his waking hours he enjoys exploring the house, ignoring his millions of toys in favour of the hoover (atta boy!) and Mummy's purse - all those lovely credit cards to try and post through the floorboards. Lots of watching In the Night Garden has definitely had an affect on him - he now blows kisses at everyone and is always stealing my dishcloths to 'clean' his books. And is it just me or has the guy who sings 'The time has come to say goodnight ... at the end of a lovely day' been taking his make-up tips from Pee Wee Herman? You know what I'm talking about.

babydriver · 26/03/2008 21:57

gosh, haven't made it on to this thread for ages - sorry folks but I just don't know where the evenings go.

Both boys have had a horrible cough & cold thingy for the last week or so, but still managed to get out and enjoy the snow and build a snowman. DS2 is really lovely, lots of really cute expressions and hugs and kisses too. He managed to walk 14 steps today and can get up the stairs in a matter of moments. He's also a very good climber, up on to the sofa, dining chairs, bed etc and is not interested in toys as he'd prefer anything else, the more dangerous or breakable the better.

Gotta go!! take care till next time!

peachygirl · 01/04/2008 21:12

Hi all, we are still waiting for the chicken pox to appear!

OP posts:
SmudgeyDoodle · 02/04/2008 21:21

Hi Peachy - that's good but isn't chicken pox a 2 week incubation period? I'm starting to feel a little more alive and the sunshine definitely helps. We spent this afternoon in the garden where DS enjoyed helping me hang up the washing by handing me pegs - very cute!

suzi2 · 02/04/2008 22:51

Oh, we're all stalling here a bit aren't we. I guess our 'babies' are all keeping us too busy these days. We're ticking over just nicely at the moment. Sleep isn't so great again but it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination so I can cope with that. DD is a right little chatterbox and I reckon she has at least 20 words. It's a real shock to us as DS was about a year later than her in getting 20 words lol. I think she has to speak up or we don't notice her poor thing. She's still bf but maybe not for long the way the biting is going every time I get my period! Eating us out of house and home but hasn't gained an ounce in almost 5 months (since cruising) and is still a wee shortie too.

I LOVE this age. It's like they get a new trick every day. And it's before the "I hate you, I want daddy" age starts lol.

peachygirl · 03/04/2008 22:12

smudgy the NHS direct website says that the incubation period is 10-21 days. we found out on Easter day , but I am being a bit cautious about seeing frends as one of them is pregnant and I'm not sure how relaxed some of the others will be about getting it

Well e are bounding along - latest phrase is 'bye bye dada' o all and sundry - accompanied with a waving hand as well!! Practically snatched my hand of when I showed him an 'In the Night Garden' book in Mothercare - so I gave in and bought it for him - and has now become his favourite over the 'Dear Zoo' book - which is accompanied with a snake, monkey, dog and lion sound - not sure what we are supposed to do for a camel and a giraffe and elephant though!!

Have suffered with a bad virus that knocked him out for a few days, then I got ill, then he was ill again with another virus / stomache bug that wiped him out for 6 days - and then DD got it, and then DH - I managed to escape - yet I was Head of Cleaning!!

Have updated profile with a couple of new piccies!!

daizydoo · 09/04/2008 19:36

andy - your dc are gorgeous.
Peachy - did you get chicken pox?

Currantbun, thanks for telling me what your ds eats, it has has put my mind at rest. I've moved his main meal from the evening to midday and hes eating alot better. I also have to give him some spoons or something to play with so he forgets that he's eatin I'm trying not to get stressed by his eating patterns. I have noticed that you have to be careful when he looks you straight in the eye as he's preparing to spit his food at you!! He's done it to both of his gandmothers and me!

At the moment he's got a runny tummy at the moment, I think he may of got it from chewing on the dogs toys at a house we visited! Apart from that he's almost running round the house and as long as hes got a set of keys in his hands he's happy!!

andyrobo237 · 09/04/2008 21:21

daizydoo - Ds loves keys too - also remote control, mobile phone - especially mine as it has a picture of a 'baba' on it, and of course my purse!!

daizydoo · 10/04/2008 09:04

Oh I forgot the phone, we have to make sure ours are locked or he sends blank text messages!! To keep him quiet on car journeys we give him the digital camera to look through the pictures

peachygirl · 10/04/2008 20:16

We are still waiting for the onset of the pox. I thought we might have escaped it but The CM's other little son came out in spots yesterday.
DD was going for the day so I could get some jobs done so I cancelled that.
For us it is now about 18 days since CM's other son got it.
We have a phone/ key/ remote lover here too.
I too wonder what noises to make for the camel and giraffe. I think sniffing will probably be one.
We love a book called 'sleepytime kittens' here and a macca pakka book, well DD loves them. My enthusiasm is slightly waning!

i know what you mean about the favourite books. We've got a little set of Night Garden books which DS loves but after the 5th read of the day, I'm not soo impressed. DS totally off his food at the moment. He had a bug on Sat and puked all day and I think it's put him off. Either that or he eats loads and then just pukes it all back up. I caught the bug too so things haven't been so great here.
We get bye as he stands at the window and waves at all the cars going past our house (on a main road). It can keep him occupied for hours!
Andyrobo, gorgeous pictures!

suzi2 · 11/04/2008 22:24

A word of warning about phones - you can generally still dial 999 with the keypad locked. I found out on my home phone and mobile the hard way with DS!

babydriver · 11/04/2008 22:42

We've had the tummy bug here too - laid DS2 out for 6 days but none of the rest of us got it. Since recovering he's been eating for England, at least until Weds/yesterday when he had was cutting his first molar.

Absolutely favourite toy is our telephone. He has long babbly conversations into it whilst pressing buttons randomly - I'm sure it won't be long before a fire engine turns up at the door cos he's called 999 by mistake! Bookwise, he loves the bear book that came with the bookstart pack, plus the very hungry caterpillar, especially if we tickle fingertips through the holes. Must go up into the loft and dig out dear zoo, I'd forgotten about that one.

He still prefers to walk holding one of my fingers, but can go a long long way now - a couple of hundred metres down the road. He surprised me in the playground too, by climbing without my help up a sloping ramp part of the climbing frame which is quite high. He went up about 20 times. Didn't sleep any longer in the morning however...

SmudgeyDoodle · 12/04/2008 10:28

Oh I forgot to share our big news. DS got his first tooth on 31st March. Are we the last? He walks for ages holding onto fingers or pushing the pushchair and has absolutely no fear. His favourite thing is to go down a hugeeee slide at our playground which he goes down on his belly and giggles all the way.
I think we must be lucky with our home phones because I don't think they dial 999 when locked. Saying that, yummy firemen coming to the door......

Hi all It's 21 days today and No spots... We are off to see family for a few days so have a great week everyone.

OP posts:
SmudgeyDoodle · 13/04/2008 15:34

Peachygirl, hope the spots stayed away and that you had a lovely week away. I'm feeling alive again and DS is back on form. We've got his MMR on Tue though so hope he's not too grizzly afterwards. We're in our second week of the holidays and all the baby groups stop so the week is yawning ahead of us. Anyone got anything exciting on?

andyrobo237 · 13/04/2008 20:34

We have been to docs today after odd eisodes of vomitting - tues, thurs and sat night only, and fine, if off food a little in between - ear is infected, so got antibiotics - hoping for no sickness tonight - all a bit odd!

A very strong liking for Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy here, and also the Dear Zoo book.

MMR not booked, mainly because of me being off a lot in March and holidays and then sickness, but aiming for next few weeks - I have to take an afternoon off work for the 10 mins it takes - cant expect CM to take him, but may try and pursuade my mum to di it!

suzi2 · 19/04/2008 22:14

We're really slacking on this PN club aren't we? We seem to have a never ending cycle of colds and coughs here at the moment. It's making us all really miserable.

Off to centreparcs on Monday though so fingers crossed we're all fighting fit!

SmudgeyDoodle · 20/04/2008 19:35

Hi Suzi2 [Smudgey waves vigorously]. Hope you have a lovely week away and that you are all better. Centreparks will be lovely whatever the weather throws at you. I used to work quite near the Nottingham one and had a few work days in the conference room there and then used the facilities after - lovely!
MMR went well. DS has a hard lump on his leg still but didn't seem bothered really. I've got my scan on Tue so fingers crossed all will be well with Doodle.
Andyrobo are your lot all better now? Hope you've had a few better nights.

peachygirl · 22/04/2008 20:52

Hi we had the MMR toady and so far alll seems well.
Hope everyone is OK.

OP posts:
babydriver · 27/04/2008 21:51

hellloooo....

Is there anybody there....?

I know I've been busy, sorting out some photobooks online and selling stuff on ebay, but I didn't think everyone else would be so quiet as well!

Whilst I've been busy, DS2 has sorted out walking confidently and now trundles about for hours - preferably in the opposite direction to me, or to find any stairs, wires or his brother's toys. Frankly, it's not worth him having any toys for all the time he spends with them.

Favourite place is standing by the larder cupboard going "nya-nya" (his chosen term for wanting something) begging for food. He's the biggest scrounger out - he'll eat anything, anytime no matter whether he's already downed a proper meal! Either he's keen to try out his new molars or there's a monster growth spurt on its way.

Hope you and all your LOs are well.
