bloody mumsnet. I got sucked in to another thread, ended up registering with tesco to tell some poor woman the advice she got was total bunkum and to report the posts to tesco.....meanwhile babyboo was scuttling around on the floor.

I realised she was quiet so went to see where she was at.....and couldn't find her cue me running frantically from room to room shouting her name like a loon. Took me a few mins, but I found her under the kitchen table playing with DSs inhaler volumiser thingy, all laughs and smiles.

this is why I can't MN any more....she's too bloody mobile!

lol Daisy, I have a similar problem, I get negrossed in a threas and look around to find that DS is wedged under the sofa/has crawled into the hallway/is chewing on my laptop cable/...

that's waht babyboo is doing now...trying to gnaw her way (with her new tooth!!) through the cables under the desk

Thats crap Andiem. Have they done that before Andiem, to anyone else? I've never actually asked for any maternity leave to be re-paid in my time as HR, so fingers crossed they'll let you off.

foxy my contract says if you do not return then they will ask for the employers bit back it is because it is a lot more than they have to give you by law they are only asking for the extra top up bit back and they have taken a years leave off of it as well and I knew if I didn't go back they would ask so ho hum there it is mind you after 9 years service you'd think they would let me off

I think it's standard that any maternity pay over SMP is repaid if the woman doesn't return to work for a certain amount of time. I think some women go back, work the minimum no of weeks so they get to keep the mat pay and then leave. That may be why it's not very common for an employer to ask for it to be repaid?

fury, I'm pretty sure your gearbox would be covered after only three months. They normally don't cover normal wear and tear, so a gearbox going after say 50,000 miles probably isn't covered, but I'm sure you haven't done anything near that in three months!

DS just had the most horrific meltdown on the way home from school . I wanted to walk up to sainsbos for some formula (about a 20 min walk from his school) and he just went off on one and said he wasn't coming. I did th sane parent thing and walked on regardless.....then had to go back for him after I'd gone about 200m and it was apparent he had no intention of following. He then thought he had the upper hand and continued to cry and scream and shout his way up the road (some of you will be familiar with the cries of I hate you, you can't make me, I'm not doing it, let me go etc etc). anyway...after getting to the top of the hill (took 3 times longer than it should've done) he dug his heels in and said he wasn't walking any further. I let go of the buggy to go get him and I'd just grabbed him by the wrist and was headed back to the buggy when a huge gust of wind caught it and it started rolling into the road. I put a spurt on so I could grab the buggy (luckily the worst of the school run traffic had passed) and ended up dragging DS about 15 feet along the pavement as he wouldn't walk. I really felt like sitting down in the middle of the street and crying at that point

anyhoo, I couldn't face another 40 mins of this so turned back for home (now DS has bloody won and I'm feeling v peeved with myself for not persevering). He is in his jammies and in his room though. He came down 5 mins ago to say "I'm..........bored" and got yelled at for not saying I'm sorry instead.

why why why do they act like this? He had a good day at school, came home with three reward stickers and a prize for being best behaved boy, and we went to the book fair after lessons and he got a new book.

and dd sees all this and thinks it's normal behaviour. She is going to be even more of a handful than him at this rate

Fury, I'm with you on your post of 12:02, the number of times I think that in a day. Hope your car gets sorted, but lucky as you say that DS wasn't with you. That would have been no fun.

hope I haven't missed anyone. I had a lovely nap with baggins (he woke up three times but I stuffed my little finger in his mouth. Am going to try a dummy again...)

and DH has made tea, it smells fantastic.

Interview was a waste of time, DH was older, more experienced and more qualified than the chef/owner. That's how it goes I suppose.

i've just made these btw. haven't tried them yet (as dd is asleep on me) but will let you know if they are any good.
