Congratulations to the newly walking babes. Aidan's only just getting the confidence to stand without support so will be a while here I think.

Ceebee - so sorry Josh isn't well. It must be very worrying for you. Do keep us posted.

Great news Lysette - you just take it easy now, d'ya hear?

Bloss - that's a lovely photo of Toby's christening. I do hope someone will let us have some pics of Aidan's, as there's nothing on our camera with all four of us . Hang on, FOUR?! Not yet! THREE - duh!!

Aidan had his last day at nursery yesterday . They made him a lovely goodbye card and sent him home with his development book and loads of pics. I'm really sad about it because it's been so good for him there. We won't be able to afford it for a while up in Scotland until we can sell our blardy house. I do hope he doesn't lose his lovely sociability (is that a word?).

And it's my last day at work tomorrow .

Twinklemegan · 30/08/2007 22:00

Oh yes, I meant to ask. Is anyone else's LO obsessed by the phone? Our one's getting knackered, because the Fisher Price toy one just doesn't cut it (the cord's too short for one thing). Aidan's so cute with it - he just lifts the receiver over and over again and yells "Aya!". He also does it with the mobile, and other vaguely phone-shaped objects. Strange child!

Hi all,

This shoe thing is a mine field! I bought Sefton some Pedipeds, I was told that they were the best for the first 2 months when starting to work (by the shop). But now I am told I should get something with more support... whatis right????

Bloss - See, I knew it was your fault I love the photos. Your boys (and yuo and your dh!) are gorgeous

beadmum - well done charlotte on her first steps!

HC - LOL at em and sophie. Isn't it great when they play together

kbaby - well done on the walking!

first - Love the joke! So so true!

sloane - haven't been on facebook, but I am on bebo. I don't really use it much, but it is handy to keep in touch with far flung siblings

ceebee - poor thing. Hope he feels better soon xxxx

spin - that is a lot of hair

twinkle - Leo will help Aidan stay sociable And are you trying to tell us something about 4 not 3...? Leo loves the phone too. He uses the sky remote as a phone, and when I am on the phone he sits there jabbering away

Sleep - sure that is right about shoes. No shoes at all when possible, and something as soft and flexible as possible so it is closer to them being barefoot Can't wait to buy leo some shoes

MaeWest · 31/08/2007 09:08

DS has no shoes at the mo as he's not walking. He also pulls off socks and any other foot covering so barefoot all the way (I get paranoid when I'm out and about on a more nippy day and feel sure people are looking at the 'poor baby, his feet must be cold...', thank goodness it's still vaguely summer).

Enjoy (?!) your last day at work Twinkle and good moving vibes

TheGoddessBlossom · 31/08/2007 09:50

congrats on walkers!

Maewest, Toby is exactly the same, won't keep socks on at all. Feel ridiculous putting a cardi or jumper on him when his feet are bare.

Thanks so much for comments re photos.

Had a playdate here yesterday afternoon, two little girls, H was a Holy Terror. He hadn't had his sleep (is dropping it now much to my horror unless he falls asleep in the car) was knackered, and refused to share any of his toys etc. Got put in his room and generally told off every five seconds which was very wearying for all concerned. It's weird he is such an angel when we are out and at others' houses, having people here is so much harder, but he has to learn....

Walk and picnic in the woods today, hope the weather holds.

Isn't it funny, I am now starting to moan about Toby waking up at 6am, when only a week ago 6am was a lie in....

Hi Girls

Well done little walkers. I have those soft shoes for K when she walks, but usually she just potters about it socks. I would prefer nothing on her feet, but she scratches to f*ck if they're bare so she has to be covered.

We had a big long day out in London yesterday with DH's brother and family, so we're all a bit knackered today. I've come to work for a rest! The babies were very well behaved, Joey only stropped once when he wanted to jump off the escalators himself, but I wouldn't dare let him. Bless, so independent. K was more or less stuck in the pram all day so when we got home she was walking all over the shop even though she was falling asleep!

Bloss hope the weather is better there for your picnic than it is here.

K also loves phones. 'PONE!!' and holds it to her ear and says 'ayo'. Then apparently it's for me so I have to do it too. She does it with toy phones, mobile phones, remotes, but not yet a bottle of olive oil!
She has been known to make an actual call or video call to DH on my mobile!

Twinkle, have fun on your last day! Hope you get some good pressies! Are they taking you out for beers?

Ceebee poor Josh, hope he's better soon.

Had a great night out too on Wednesday, met a former colleague, who has recently split with her boyfriend of 6 years. She still misses him desperately and never thought she'd be in this situation where she has to start all over again.

Anyway girls I must go, I (yes me!!) have been asked to be on the interview panel next week for some new technicians! One interview has to be done by Skype!! (WTF?)

Anyways, off for a swim...

Hi all, will catch up later but has been a sad night as FIL's horse got colic and had to be put to sleep at 4am.

Ceebee74 · 31/08/2007 12:00

HC - for your FIL.

Twinkle - wow, last day already. Things really are moving fast aren't they? I hope you have a good day and they treat you well! BTW are you and Wallace starting your own little clique now ?

Annie - for your friend - it must be so hard starting on the 'dating' ladder again. You also realise that if you are interviewing for a day, you will actually have to work for that day ?

Shoes - glad no-one else is really putting shoes on their lo's until they are walking. I keep seeing babies younger than Josh with proper shoes on and wondering the hell why - and then wondering if Josh should be wearing proper shoes. Josh only has those very soft shoes which he only ever wears when we go out (if we remember to put them on ). Only wears socks for nursery whereas all the other babies seem to have shoes on - does that make me a bad mummy?? I have a friend who has just spent £20 on a pair of proper Clarks shoes for her DS who has just turned 1 - he is not even crawling yet, yet alone cruising or walking!!

Josh seems a little better today - temp gone down a little so we have sent him to nursery although I am expecting them to ring any minute to say he isn't well. Slept better last night even though Josh was in our bed from midnight - he didn't seem to toss and turn as much (or I was too asleep to notice!)

Went to the doctors this morning for my (final) pill prescription and mentioned it to him. He said that it is unlikely to be the MMR as it usually takes a week to cause a reaction so probably just another bug he is (so looks like you were right Spin ).

Spin - no I haven't bought any Comfy Jeans yet - have got a pair of normal boy-fit jeans that are quite comfy and don't cause a muffin top but I do want a pair of boot-leg ones for more dressy occasions so may invest in a Comfy pair of those shortly

prettymum · 31/08/2007 12:11

hey everyone!

sorry formy lack of posts!!

hc- sorry to hear the sad news about your fils horse

ceebee- glad josh is getting better!

i havent even bought junior shoes yet, but i think hes ready for them now, ive been seeing a lot of younger babys in proper shoes aswell and wondering if i should have bought sme already!

im struggling with junior to eat proper meals. it all ends up on the floor or mashed between his fingers! its geting really frustrating!

will catch up again later, need to go and do a bit of shopping again!

jacobandlysette · 31/08/2007 13:39

hiya all!

hc your poor fil's horse.

we have a pair of ti[ toey joeys (brazillian wonderful shoes but you can't get them in the UK) b ut they are still too big for the boy. he refuses to keep socks on even when pottering around in the garden! his favourite game is pulling them off tbh. i'm not too bothered about shoes for him at the moment as he's still not walking - won't even stand on his own (is he being very late with this???), and just cruising a lot.

and the poor little man is teething again - the most horrific nappy rash all around his penis as well, and diarohea like i've not seen with him before! but he still laughs when i put the cream on him for the rash because it tickles

feeling better with the pregnancy - got a great night sleep last night because the boy had a bit of a temperature so a medised sleep was called for . he came in with me from 230am, mostly because dh is in israel at this wedding and i wanted the company

got some great pics of the boy will attempt to do some links later on

xxx

jacobandlysette · 31/08/2007 13:52

sorry tip toey joeys

SleepIsForTheWeak · 31/08/2007 15:07

SPin, I got them from a local shop in Stokie, but I have seen them on e-bay too, it is just they are sent from |USA so would take a while. If you see a style you like, I could pop into the shop here and see if they have any for you? COuld always post them. We, too, frequent concrete playgrounds, but he doesnt wear shoes at home.

Sefton's easting skills are going in reverse now - back to the mush but I guess it is teething.

The only word he can say (besides mama and dada) is "Car"! He is OBSESSED with cars (althought aeroplanes, trucks etc are also called cars) and will page through books at high speed until he find a picture of a car and then gaze at it for ages! So funny.

Looks like good weather this weekend, hope you all have fun things planned!

oooh ooh ooh sleep! I'm going to try and find these shoes - there are a few in london and we are due a trip back to kensington soonish so might try and do it then - they are lovely shoes!

lol Wallace - no not trying to tell you anything, but why the hell did I type four to start with? That's what I want to know.

Yes CB, I think Wallace and I will go and set up our own little northern Scotland postnatal thread.

I know, last day already . It's been a nice couple of days actually. Had an exit interview with my boss yesterday and told him exactly what I thought, which was quite a relief actually. Had drinks yesterday lunchtime and a meal this evening - a joint do with another mum who has also been shafted during the restructuring and job evaluation. I will really miss my colleagues actually - almost without exception they are really lovely people to work with.

Re shoes - my understanding has always been that they shouldn't really have shoes while they're just learning to stand and walk. Certainly I don't feel Aidan needs them at the moment. Lysette - I think Aidan's rather late as well. He's only just realising he can stand unaided.

lol at Sefton's cars. Aidan's obsessed with cats and other four-legged creatures and he loves looking at pictures of them. In the supermarket, whenever he spots a picture of a cat on food cans, litter bags etc. he points wildly and exclaims "poooo, poooo".

Well I've had three bacardi & cokes and two glasses of wine this evening and I don't feel even mildly tipsy. I'm coughing like a good 'un though - just can't shift it after my cold/flu thing a week or so back (which Aidan kindly gave me).

Better get to bed. Night all. xx

agalch · 01/09/2007 07:21

Morning ladies!!!

Apologies, not been on for yonks. You are all soooo good at posting reguarly.

Was quite ill for a few days after having the jabs(typhoid, tetanus, hep A and polio) for my hols to Turkey in October. of course was the only bugger who felt crap, everyone else sailed thru

Dd1 started nursery on Monday this week and has settled brilliantly.Have bribed her with an ice cream after nursery if she was good and didn't cry tho.She had a bubble on day 1 but nothing else.Went shopping yesterday with dd2 and mindee and i was great.Didn't realise what a pita dd1 is when we are shopping.

Eilidh is cruising now and chatters away like a good un.Says hiya, bye bye,Mac(for Marc ds1) and look, that etc.Giggles all the time too. She's def the most contented one,has had to be i suppose.

Ds1 and his gf are not up to anything atm and have said they are going to wait till January at the very earliest.ds said it's less "complicated" with no sex so thats something at least. They are still sorted for condoms should the need arise tho.

Had my 2 weeks hols and did nothing We were doing the garden up so it looks fabby and nice for the girls to have somewhere safe to play.My mum had the girls for a few hours and we took the ds's and the gf to the Edinburgh Festival which was great.

Well done on the weight loss HC.I seem to be stuck atm.I just keep going and put on a pound then off half a pound then on a pound etc. Will need to get my fat arse in gear and get on with it.Really want to get to my target.

SSS like the new name

Hellooo to everyone, better go,one of the dd's are up.

have a good day xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 01/09/2007 09:09

I is a daft mare. Went to take my pill the other night, saw I had finished one packet, saw another box, opened it, thought oooh they are a different colour foil etc, read the name and it seemed the same name as the most recently taken ones although the foil had come off that packet so couldn't see the last few letters, didn't think to check date on them and thought fark it, and took them for three nights. Had a headache when I woke up yesterday which carried on all day getting worse and worse, ended up in a migraine last night so bad I couldn't touch my back teeth together KWIM? Date on the "new" pills is 205 and I think they are combined not mini, so am generally a total arse, and I'm not sure it was that that caused the migraine but suspect it is.

Won't take it tonight, will end up getting pregnant by accident, and that is the end of my very boring migraine story.

OP posts:
TheGoddessBlossom · 01/09/2007 09:10

no shoes here either till he is walking.

OP posts:
HumphreysCorner · 01/09/2007 09:22

Morning all

Yep, no shoes until properly walking. Clarks made sure Em could walk steadily before they would measure her for shoes. You can buy cruising shoes but don't feel like paying £26 for these, would rather wait until Sophie needs proper shoes which at this rate will be when she goes to school. Any one elses treasures still in 3-6 month tops and 6-9 month bottoms? She still wears the cardigan I put her in when I brought her home last June. Her winter coat from last December is a perfect fit. Suppose I shouldn't complain as I don't have to buy many clothes. Will have to buy vests soon I should think.

Hope all the poorly people are better and Bloss, you daft bugger.

Ceebee-lol at your 'final' pills. That is what I said to DH. Have got another 3 months worth then I think I'm having a break.

Must go to Tescos for a few bits so have a good weekend. Syd the horse has been buried next to FIL's other horse that died 5 years ago. When the vet came to put him to sleep he got up, walked out of his stable and went and laid in his field. They wouldn't have been able to put him to sleep in his stable as they wouldn't be able to get him out so it is as if he somehow 'knew'-bless.

Love to all
