Ta Bloss.

Yep - Josh is tantrumming aswell. Will not lie on his back for nappy changes and has a tantrum when I make him - am running out of things to distract him with in his bedroom! Had a tantrum this afternoon because I wouldn't let him play with a china plate etc etc. There are a couple of good threads at the moment on this with some good advice - i.e. just ignore them

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/08/2007 20:02

was at a friend's house this afternoon and she was making all the kids their tea so I offered to change her little girl's nappy, same age as Toby (but half the weight lol). She was wriggling about too, so I gave her a jar of vaseline to distract her, like I do to Toby cos he concentrates on trying to get the lid off, only she dropped it smack on her forehead, cue huge screams, whoops! Friend calls up the stairs "All ok?" "Yes yes, fine!"

Nice shiny new thread, thanks bloss

Poor Rosh. We have 2 steps at our back door. Leo tried to ride his bike down them, luckily dd spotted him - I was on mumsnet

Tantrums not too bad here, but he does get cross.

Ceebee74 · 21/08/2007 08:30

Josh's favourite nappy changing distraction at the mo is his Thomas torch which he loves to switch on and off - seems to be working a treat at keeping him still.

Bloss - lol at the vaseline (probably not funny at the time though)

Am off to lunch today with another MNer, who has a DS 6 weeks younger than Josh, that I have become friends with - we are meeting (without the babies ) in a big shopping centre near here so lots of shopping, eating and chatting - am so looking forward to it. A bit of 'me-time' at last.

Hope you all have a good day x

HumphreysCorner · 21/08/2007 09:02

Morning all

Jeanie-Ross is a fine young man Bet his uniform doesn't stay in mint condition very long

Ceebee-have a super day.

Hi Castille!

Now Em is not at nursery she is wearing me out. Yesterday I played with her all morning and a bit in the afternoon before we went out but she never stops. I asked her if I could have 5 mins me time with a cup of tea but that lasted all of 2 mins. DH nad I watched a vid of Em's 1st year and we could see why she is like she is. Right from being born she was rocking and rolling and protesting if she couldn't roll/reach/crawl/walk. In most of the camcorder shots she is yelling and whinging. Was blaming myself for her behaviour but have realised that is how she is! Sophie is just so different.

Must go as there is a strong aroma in the nappy department.

Oh, lost 3lb at WW so just 5lb to go and then I will be back at Goal!!!! Then I can have another baby and put it all back on again-yay!!!!

Morning all. Been a while but i've been flat out with school hols, puppies etc.
Ella is walking properly now and climbine everywhere. She's a nightmare - on the beds, sofas, coffee table. She's also doing stairs which is pretty good going as we live in a bungalow
She is also a stroppy madame, mostly because she has to stand up to the others i think. Screaming at Lewis now in fact. Oh, and pulling his hair! Best go and sort 'em out.

AnnieOleHouseElf · 21/08/2007 10:52

Morning all!

Thanks for the new thread Bloss. Who's this friend of yours? Why isn't she on our thread?! Is she on the August thread? The cheek of it.

HC what a big boy your Troy is!!! Lucky you! Very generous of your PILs. Looks like they are good for something after all.

kbaby · 21/08/2007 13:36

Glad im not the only one who is having problems nappy changing and dressing. Ds is a nightmare and twists and turns so its impossible to get the nappy on properly and also have to try 3 times before a pair of shorts/trousers are on. Distraction no longer works and he throws it on the floor.

His new habit is shouting and throwing. He will throw everything ie cars, wet wipe box and it doesn?t matter what he throws things at.

Ive been suffering from repeated sinus infections since jan and now my sense of smell seems to have gone. Slightly embarrassing as I don?t know when Ds has pooed and other mums or DD have to tell me, does have its advantages at nappy changing time though.

Im going now as DD is on my lap and is annoying me by constant question asking and pressing buttons on the keyboard.(apparently her invisible friend just bit her finger!)

HumphreysCorner · 21/08/2007 13:47

Lol Bloss at the Vaseline. I give Sophie a nappy to hold. Cheers for the new thread mate.

kbaby-Sinusitis and anything sinus related is horrid. Suffered lots as a child until I had my adenoids removed and sinused cleaned out.

Annie-hard at work as usual .

Trying to win an M&P Dot to Dot changing bag on Ebay but keep getting outbid on every one I bid on-gggrrrhhhh!

kayzed-you are quiet. Everything OK?

kayzed-fabarooni song. Actually, both DH and I are secretly filled with dread about how we can actually 'pay' the PIL back so that the 'debt' is settled. My mum and dad are worried about it too. Will wait with not to bated breath

KZ great song!

did you put your P&TG on ebay yet? not that we need it, just thinking - you all must know how completely planning oriented and obsessed I am by now

Jacob has huge tantrums if he can't have the remote, our cups of very hot tea, having nappy changed although a horrid plasticky electronic music producing telephone that FIL bought him actually does the trick, so it's useful for something!

Also he is completely obsessed with in the night garden - it's taken over from curious george as the favourite thing....

also climbing stairs like lightning and using a cup as well, without a lid or anything, although he does like to tip it all over himself.

HC fingers crossed that you don't have to, but i know what you mean, the pessimist in me would be holding my breath too...

jacob again started wailing at me when i went to pick him up out of the creche again today little monkey at least he is enjoying it.

anyone seen the bourne ultimatum?

thanks for revisiting the routines again everyone - made me feel much better about how much he's eating as it was along the same lines as most of you. nothing like a bit of peer reinforcement

DH and i have decided that jacob and i will not go to israel in a couple of weekends to our friends wedding - it took so long for jacob to get back into his routine after thailand that it really doesn't seem worth it tbh, although it does mean we are away from him for 4 days.

anyway must go it's pretty much dinner time and i must start running bath - didn't bother with one last night but jacob didn't seem to mind at all!

MaeWest · 21/08/2007 19:14

Nappy changes get a bit screechy here too, tends to be when he's tired. Felt a bit ashamed of myself yesterday when I yelled 'Lie Down' several times after a rubbish night and with a shitty arse wiggling around all over the place. His lip trembled a little, but he did lie down pretty quietly after my outburst .

DS was at the childminder today and slept for around 20 mins all day apparently. When I got him home he was so tired he didn't want to eat his tea and lay on the floor and cried until the cat came over to comfort him. Managed to get him to eat some peanut butter sarnies by sitting on the sofa and pretending that I wanted to eat them. Works every time

TheGoddessBlossom · 21/08/2007 19:39

KZ great song.

KBaby LOL at at DS's new fave thing being "Screaming and throwing". Can see it becoming an olympic event - "and coming joint second in the screaming and throwing is James and Toby, with the winner being HC's EMMA!!! HURRAAAAAYYYY!!!"

CB - it wasn't that funny at the time, and became less funny when I was told that her DH was in fact asleep upstairs as he was poorly, I hadn't realised he was even in the house!!! Was desparately trying to remember what I had been muttering under my breath! And he's a copper! Have giggled about it since however

Zoomed up to London today to see a friend with her two boys, and zoomed back again, I am tiiiiiired tonight now.

Feeling mildly less panicky about Toby's christening on Sunday and the 30 people coming back here after it, now that I have made 17.5 lists of things to do/buy/borrow. Breathe......

Lysettes - tell you what. I'LL go to Israel, you pop over here, look after my three boys. Sorted. What are friends for.

DH is cooking up something divine in the kitchen, pasta with an olive oil/anchovy/garlic and tomato dressing, I am proper salivating, god I'm hungry.

HC - well done on the weight loss. Are you really going to have another baby? I am in awe of those with three, been scared off...maybe in a few years...maybe...

xx

KZ - what a fantastic song - can just picture Chili singing it over and over again

Lysette - Josh's favourite thing is also In The Night Garden - we end up watching it before bedtime and then again when it is on in the morning. He also has a little Iggle Piggle soft toy in his cot which he loves - we were in Toys R Us a couple of weeks ago and he saw it and his face just lit up so how could we not buy it eh? It has a little detachable blanket aswell - sweet Shame about Israel but the 4 days will pass so quickly that DH will be back before you know it.

I think Josh would only be able to compete at the throwing event in the Baby Olympics - fortunately no screaming but, boy, does he throw - everything!! I just know the TV screen is going to get smashed one of these days by a flying brick/little people/animal....

Had a lovely day - spent far too much as is always the case when I go 'window' shopping!

Wallace · 21/08/2007 19:55

Nappy changes can be tricky here too. I use terries and it can be a bugger getting them on. Sometimes he manages to grab my carefully folded and layed out nappy, and I have to start again

ceebee - hope you had a nice time, lucky you

HC - well done you slim thing! Leo is also different personality-wise from my other two, he iis vbery exuberant

numpty - I know the feeling...Leo bites his big bruv and sis finding his place in the family fast

Annie - are you sure it isn't you on the Immaculate conception thread? I have my suspicions

kbaby - get him in traing for the shot-putt noow

kayzed - Aw, love the song by size four do you mean age 4 Leo despite being just about the same weight still fits 12-18 months (apart from some trousers cos he needs room for his nappy) How very odd - maybe girls' clothes are cut smaller? Mind you, my 6 year old dd still fits into age four clothes. She is diddly though.

lysette - leo gets very insistent that he wants our tea. We have to be so vigilant, he is so quick if he spots an unguarded caup. Even if someone has just popped it down for a sec.

Maewest - I shouted at Leo when he bit me (it is bloody sore - my thighs are covered in bite marks!). He wailed and collapsed to the floor

Leo's favourite toy is a wooden trike, not quite the same as the one in the pic, but you get the idea He spends almost all his time on it scooting about. He can climb on (and dive off) by himself. Sometimes he ends up facing the wrong way, but it doesn't stop him I must take some photos!

Excuse all hte typos, i think i'm turning into cod

HumphreysCorner · 21/08/2007 21:08

Bloss-will be having another. When I get to my WW goal weight and have tracked my temperature and plucked up courage to stop taking my pill . Em and Sophie get on so well that DH and I are sure they will share a room so the baby can have Em's room. If there is a prob in the future then Em can move into the guest/computer room as it is nice with lilac flowery wallpaper. Em probably won't like it though!

HC

FirstAtForty · 21/08/2007 22:23

Hi Girls

Wallace - that?s interesting about Leo?s love of the trike - Emma had the wooden ELC one for her birthday and is very trepidacious (sp?) on it - has to be ?loaded? on to it or she just ignores it. Interesting too that his personality is exuberant, can?t remember, when?s his birthday, is he a Leo? (in rubbish amateur astrologer mode again )

Class song KZ

Well done on the weight loss HC - am v !! And v exciting about ttc - can?t be long now as you?re so near your target weight!

Bloss - lol at the screaming and throwing Olympics And your tea sounds divine, will be making anchovy and olive pasta myself tomorrow, but I bet your DH?s is better!

Glad you had a good day out Ceebee. I?m off to Cardiff this Sat for a child free shopping trip with a mate, am a bit broke at the mo but may get seduced into spending a bit more than I should?

Hi Mae

J&L - haven?t seen the Night Garden but will look out for it now, I embrace favourite telly programmes as a good thing

Am worried that I?m going to psychologically damage Emma by laughing at her emotional outbursts. Told her (fairly mildly really) to stop banging her wooden brick on the coffee table today and her mouth just went into a perfect upturned U , then her little face crumpled like her heart would break and she laid her head down on the coffee table and sobbed. DP and I were in hysterics but tried to control ourselves, without much success. I?m suspicious though - she stopped crying instantly when picked up and distracted with another toy And the odd thing is that she often laughs at me when I really tell her off - I think it?s going to be an emotional battleground before long?

I?ve got loads more posts to look back through but will have to carry on later / tomorrow - g?night girls xx

Ceebee74 · 22/08/2007 07:19

HC - a HUGE congratulations on being so near your goal weight. I am v v v but so pleased for you. we will be joining you in TTC as we are going to start within the next few weeks

First - I think it is ok to laugh at Emma's hysterics - surely that is better than pandering to her. Have recently read a thread about discipline for 1 year olds and how to deal with tantrums and it scared me to death - apparently you have to show them who is boss from the start for their own sake otherwise they grow into incapable, immature adults who always expect to get their own way (or something like that!)

Have a good day everyone x

Ceebee74 · 22/08/2007 08:18

this is Josh's favourite toy at the moment. We bought it for him at Christmas and he was never really that bothered - we used to put him in it and he would humour us for about 5 minutes before wanting to get off. Now he can climb on and off it as he pleases, he seems to love it - guess it is being able to control when he plays with it maybe?

TheGoddessBlossom · 22/08/2007 08:45

ok so Toby's wakes at 4.50am, too fricking early even in my book, and I ignore him. And ignore him. And ignore him. He falls back to sleep at 6.20am. H wakes up at 6.30am. DH cross cos he usually gets an hours lie in when I get up to Toby about 5.30am. All exhausted except Toby who sleeps in till 8.30am...

Do you think if I kept on ignoring him at that hour he would eventually give up and stop waking up that early? [desparate emoticon] Problem is it's rare that H sleeps through his noise, and when H gets up there is no chance at all of staying in bed anyway, but I suppose if I came downstairs with H we could still ignore T....god knows. Humph.
