Now now SSS, what's all this about me limping in here licking my wounds?? Eh? Eh? I'm obviously getting a reputation .

I've no advice Sloane except to try to resist the temptation (which I can't) to get involved in controversial topics. Having said that I've developed a fairly thick skin on here, which you need outside this thread, but nothing can stop you from taking to heart really horrible and unprovoked personal attacks . Just remember it's the other people that have the problem, not you. And when I did my recent "flounce" I found out that I have some true Mumsnet friends which was lovely.

Actually I was thinking about this very thing yesterday, and I realised that having children doesn't stop many women from being utter cows, just like we all had to deal with at school. Some people just never change unfortunately.

That's my twopenceworth anyway (and I wasn't actually going to comment on the issue at all SSS - water under the bridge and all that). Your new name's growing on me by the way.

Twinklemegan · 28/08/2007 21:28

Oh and you were Chester30 weren't you Sloane? Couldn't find anything juicy though

Hi Girls
Hope everyone's well today. Just a quickie as I'm at work, but wanted to share this with you, don't usually share email jokes (too miserable ) but this made me laaarf. Apologies if you've already seen it. Catch up laters xx

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pyjamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess.
A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back
door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys
and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bath room door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pyjamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"

She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world did I do today?"

"Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

numptysmummy · 29/08/2007 10:06

Lol,i've done that before! Shut him up for about a wk!

kbaby · 29/08/2007 11:12

Wallace- It is a stunning picture. I can never quite manage arty pictures. In fact I just added myself to facebook and struggled to find 1 picture of me on my own. As im always in charge of the camera it means I never get my photo taken.

Lynsette- Its prob too late now but just to reassure you I spotted in both my pregnancies and I was fine. Just make an appt with the epu clinic for a check.

Sleep ? So envious of you. What an incredible journey it will be. I would love to do it and often read about other parents who have done the same in the baby magazines, I just don?t have the courage. Make sure if you go you send us lots of pics.

Ceebee/Wallace- the idea of the gym just breaks me out in a sweat.

First- Love the joke.

James is walking a bit more now and is taking about 4/5 steps on his own between the furniture. He still doesn?t like doing it if hes not actually walking towards anything.
I took him on Sunday to get his feet measured but for some reason he was quite adamant that he wasn?t getting new shoes, every time the lady put his foot in the measurer he took it back out. No amount of distraction or holding his foot worked in the end after 20 mins we left empty handed and none the wiser as to what size he now is. Were trying again on Sunday.

jacobandlysette · 29/08/2007 13:42

hey everyone - all ok! went to the epu and got a scan - internal which was a whole lot less unpleasant than i thought it was going to be

managed to do some good resting yesterday and also have the sitter round this afternoon for jacob.

dh and i had another blazing row today on the way to the tube - along the lines of he still thinks i go out to much and "was i sorting out jacob's education properly"???? WTF????? he went onto this "in 20 years there is going to be so much more competition for jobs and don't we want to give him the best start we can????"

I could have strangled him, right there on the street

thanks for all your positive thoughts everyone!

Ceebee74 · 29/08/2007 15:14

Lysette - so glad everything is ok - did they indicate how far gone you were? I had an internal scan at about 6 weeks and it wasn't too bad at all - and lovely to see the little bean

Kbaby - lol at the shoe shop - I just have an image of your DS doing that

First - very funny joke - and how very true!

Well, I guess Josh is one in however many children who do react to the MMR - typical! He woke up at 4 this morning with a temperature and nursery have just sent him home now as they said he has been hot but shivery all day despite 2 doses of Calpol, really clingy, not eating etc and just not being himself.

FirstAtForty · 29/08/2007 15:20

Oh fab news Lysette, so pleased for you And wtf indeed at your dh?s question !!

Ceebee - poor wee Josh, hope he gets over it quickly

Kbaby - with you on the gym thing - I?m the world?s laziest person but I?m sure you get more than enough exercise anyway running around after your two. >

Emma was measured for her first ?proper? pair of shoes last week, aaaw. They are pink Start Rites and you even get a special box saying ?my first shoes? etc on them - v exciting!! They haven?t encouraged her to walk though lol, she?s quite happy crawling and cruising, and wiping the floor with her clothes as she goes along, bleaugh.

Spin - lol at the MN bitches sitting typing furiously in their tattered housecoats, swigging away I bet it?s true as well. Bless Roshi with her ?uhs?. I?ve taken to repeating stuff back to Emma as well (mostly her whinges though, it takes her by surprise and sometimes she forgets what she was whinging about).

Hi Sloane ranger - yes I remember you from a few months back as well, good to hear from you

Annie - good luck with [nameless car] - hope he finds his/her way home today!

Hi Mae - well done on the public transport thing! I?m in awe, I went on a train journey on my own last Saturday and ended up completely traumatised (standing all the way in the aisles, fights over reserved seats etc).

Sleep - good to hear from you and wow, how exciting! Glad Sefton?s doing well.

Bloss - happy belated Christening Day to Toby!! Glad everything went well, can?t wait for the pics And lurve the snow globe!!

HC - re more kissing on the lips, what it is with your IL?s!!

Wallace - fab pic of Leo, and that does look like real snow!

Impy - looks like you had a great holiday, really sociable. And Ryan?s as cute as ever, bless.

Beadmum - hope the Quest?s behaving itself! Another Maclaren fan here, it?s quite amazing what you can hang off them

Us - hope the caravan holiday?s good - fill us in when you get back!!

Gosh this is turning into an epic, that?s what you get when you don?t post for nearly a week - I have been awash with apathy for a while I?m afraid (not just with MN, with everything), but am a bit fired up today, have been furiously tidying my desk at work and chucking lots of stuff out, very cathartic! Emma?s fine, her fave word is ?herrow? this week, she says it a lot . Including down the baby monitor at 1.45 this morning?

May even get it together to tidy the house up a bit now - or then again don?t want to risk overdoing it?

jacobandlysette · 29/08/2007 16:42

Spin he's just stressed about everything. he's a finance lawyer and puts together CDOs, which normally no one would give a rats arse what they are but according to the independent and the daily mail he solely has caused the meltdown in the gloval financial markets and will be responsible for the mega recession we are teetering on the brink of !!!!! he is a bit ridiculous sometimes though worrying about jacob in 20 years time and getting a job - FGS we are shelling out heaps to send him to one of the best boys pre-prep and prep schools in south london (sorry don't want to start the debate on private vs state please don't shoot me everyone!) obviously he's not there yet though

more later!

Wallace · 29/08/2007 20:15

dhs are a pain in the arse, aren't they?

Not able to catch up with all the messages right now - struggling with lack of sleep. Leo has decided that 5am or even earlier. I blame Bloss

Wallace · 29/08/2007 20:16

HumphreysCorner · 30/08/2007 09:48

Lysette-that is good news, now take it as easy as you can.

Bloss-love the pics, especially the one round the font. Brought back memories.

DH lectured me on the fact that it is OK talking to you all on here but I shouldn't be ever wanting to meet up. Stoopid man!!!!!!!

Em has stormed off to her room as just caught her with Sophie sat in dolly's cot with my cushion stuffed in it as well. Just took Sophie out and said you can't do that Emma so she burst into tears and off she went.

Must peg my sheets out so will catch up later.

kbaby · 30/08/2007 13:41

Yeah!!!! My little man is fully walking today, its so cute to see his little legs tottering around.

Ceebee- I hope josh is better today.
Bloss- lovely pics, I like your dress
Beadmum- you can get clarkes shoes or go to a statrite shop and get theirs, depends what designs you prefer really

FirstAtForty · 30/08/2007 14:58

Big congrats to Charlotte and James on their walking

Beadmum - I got the Start Rites at Russell and Bromley (don't usually go there as too expensive, but they have an entire floor dedicated to children which I didn't even know about - they seem to have all the major brands and do the measuring service etc)

FirstAtForty · 30/08/2007 14:59

oh yes and FAB pics Bloss, love the one at the font!

sloaneranger · 30/08/2007 15:40

hello all,

kbaby - that is rather exciting!! are things being moved a little higher in the kbaaby household?

lysettes - I hope all is going well with your pregnancy - I had a similar experience with my lo. It is a bit of a rollercoaster this pregnancy thing . ... of course we are alll experts now aren't we?

Has anyone been on facebook?
I can't work out what it is, I have just been invited to go on it but can't see what it is all about. Is this something the young people do?!

hope you are all having good days - must go and attend to the infant!

Ceebee74 · 30/08/2007 20:48

Evening ladies

Bloss - what fantastic photos Yay about the late mornings!

Kbaby/Beadmum - congrats to your lo's. The shoe shops will making a mint out of us lot won't they?

Still not good here - Josh's temperature has been 38 degrees pretty constantly since Tuesday night . We can't get it go down despite repeated doses of Calpol. He has been sick a couple of times aswell so who knows if he has got a bug or it is a reaction to the MMR jab - but he is not a happy bunny. Only managed 4 hours sleep last night as he came in our bed cos he would not settle and I was concerned about his temperature so thought it was easier to keep an eye on it in our bed and he just tossed and turned all night with flinging arms, spinning round etc. And to go to work on 4 hours sleep is pretty crap tbh.

So an early night for me tonight.

Catch up with you all soon hopefully x
