Welcome back Algach! Glad the mozzies behaved. I have got more mozzie bites than you since only yesterday. Never wear a skirt in an insectory...even with tights.
How did you like Turkey? Aren't the people just so friendly!?
Hope your DD gets better soon. At least the antibiotics should help.

Slept quite well last night! It was much the same as the night before, got her to sleep in her room, just picked her up at the end of the wind down, and she slept well til after I was in bed myself. Then DH must have gone to get her, as next thing I know she was next to me! I think she only woke once after that. So slowly improving.
Next step is to get her to actually fall asleep in her cot.
After that I'll tackle the co-sleeping...

Hilarious moment yesterday, Joey calls Kayley MIMI, and has done since she was born as it was all he could manage at 15 months (after he stopped calling her Miaow). Yesterday, I said to him, what's Mimi's name?
'KITTY!!'
So now she's Kitty.
AND, he took something from her, a Little People I think it was, and Kayley says: NO MIMI!
So now, she calls him Mimi...
I dunno.

Anyway, best go and do something.

Have a good day.

Meant to say, Bloss, that suit you got is GORGEOUS!! Bet you look fabarooney in it.

TheGoddessBlossom · 24/10/2007 16:24

hmm well sent it back and got the next size down which I fit into, just, but let's just say me plus a meal would not......

OP posts:
TheGoddessBlossom · 24/10/2007 19:17

well I seem to have got my old Toby back today. Both slept through like little treats last night, and Toby was just a dream baby all day today, happy and smily, kept coming to check where i was then pottered off to play on his own, tum tee tum tee tum....

.....which is just as well as we have been in all day today for the first time ever I think. Have had various friends in and out all day though so that has been really nice. Baked choc/banana brownies (that I put too much flour into so they taste a bit rubbery but the kids seem to like them), banana bread and fairy cakes today, going to a lunch thing at a friend's tomorrow so shall not be empty handed. Thoroughly enjoyed being in the kitchen, grot bag DH suggested I try cooking the evening meal instead of 1,000,000 cakes. Humph.

Still have to turn my hand to a Christmas cake however, bought all the gubbins for it, now just have to DO IT!!

They have changed the date of my interview AGAIN to the Tuesday. Pain in tharse to be quite frank. But that's work for you! Worried because the longer it gets left the larger the risk of losing the nanny I want gets, but I suppose if it is meant to be...

I think there must be a name missing? Maybe she has come across a mumsnetter on an old thread who had a homebirth in Bristol in July 2006 and she was wondering if anyone knew her?

Wallace · 24/10/2007 21:13

Hello all btw. Haven't got the energy (leo has a tummy bug so v sleepless nights) for proper posts but I am reading. glad tobes is happy again bloss. laughed at your story Annie. glad you had nice hols algach

kbaby · 24/10/2007 21:32

My spa day and night was lovely apart from the fact that I didn?t get my Hot stones relaxation treatment because after I had dressed into the paper knickers and been oiled down one leg the fire alarm went off and we had to wait outside in a robe for 40 mins. By the time we went back in we had missed the slot. Typical!

DS must have hit the terrible twos early. He is having such bad tantrums its unbelievable. If you say ?cant have it, don?t touch it? or just plain ?no? he hits or pulls your hair or finds something that he can throw. On Sunday I told him I wouldn?t let him play with some keys so he picked up my laundry basket and through it out of the open French doors in temper. I am dreading the future. Hes still waking at night and is screeching so loud. Last night DH went and laid him back down everythime he tried to get back up so after 4 attempts he gave up and went to sleep.

Dd had her 1st parents evening this week, hey said shes very confident and independent but picked up on the fact that she doesn?t join in with the singing and still prefers to play alongside other children not with them. Not too bad though I guess.

Spin- Sorry I missed you in time to say farewell, Safe travels and enjoy being back home.
Agalch- Hope you had a good holiday.

China- Do explain yourself I think you missed out who ever it is your trying to contacts name. Im guessing HB is a homebirth.

ChinaSurprise · 24/10/2007 22:25

Sorry - I left out a crucial word - with MaeWest!
Doh, is my pg stupid brain :-)
Anyway, have tracked her down so will now make a sharp exit

prettymum · 24/10/2007 22:45

not much going on here, same as usual, junior trying to climb everything in sight now, and screwing his face up whenever he does something that he's not meant to do. he loves to eat rce cakes, he knows were theyre kept and starts yelling for them whenever i open that specific cupboard.

going to head to bed shortly as junior likes to wake up at 6.30am nowadays, waking dd up aswell!

wrote a huge long message and then lost it

jacob now weighs 10.7 kg and on 46th centile so really pleased about that! had his chicken pox jab yesterday and we are also now trying him on soya milk so he is less congested at night which really helped last night.

consultant says i'm likely to deliver at 30 weeks this time... not particularly happy with that so they ahve doubled my meds and hope it helps! will be having the steroid injections to bring on the little ones lungs at 24 weeks, in case they have to deliver at 28, yes you read right 28 (couldn't believe it) weeks.

anyway, nothing else to report, it's still grey here...

AnnieOneSeenMyPumpkin · 26/10/2007 15:25

Just a quickie girls, afore the weekend!

Got K to sleep in her cot last night!! HOorAAAY!
Though I was practically in the cot with her. Head on her chest and her gripping me tightly round the neck. She then slept soundly til the early hours (after I had gone to bed) and then woke sporadically in my bed for a quick glug of milk.
So if I can do that again tonight, and for the next few nights, I'll be chuffed, and then can think of moving on to the next step. Which is... um... me not in the cot?

Joey on the other hand has become a right whingebag. Poor DH was up half the night with him. No reason that we can fathom.

Lysette, about the meds etc, but I'm sure all will be well in the end, it's possibly just precautionary. Glad that all is well with beanie so far though.

HC, hope you are feeling better. Have yourself a hot toddy, always works. [hug]

kbaby, poor you and the fire alarm! You must have been freezing!!!!

Not so funny story, I was in the lab today (5th floor) and decided to head back to my desk on the 4th, via the loo. The gents is on the 5th, and the ladies is on the 4th. I walked straight out of the lab into the gents... Didn't realise until I came out of the cubicle, thinking that's a very loud wee that person is doing. There was a bloke in the cubicle opposite. Luckily he didn't see me (I don't think) so I legged it.
I did pass two of the professors on the way in too, thinking about it. They must have thought I was drunk or something...

Just got confused what floor I was on.
Won't be doing that again

Anyway girls, must go.
Have a good weekend all

HumphreysCauldronCorner · 26/10/2007 19:39

Still rough girls but better than yesterday.

Lysette-that's a scary thought delivering at 28 weeks plus as that is only 15 weeks time isn't it?

Annie-haven't you used the gents loos before? One memorable occasion was one time I used it by accident at a bike meeting. There was me struggling with my leathers in a cubicle when I heard loud weeing and men talking. I waited in the cubicle for them to finish but in the end I came out and said 'excuse me lads'-they just turned round and said 'alright love'.

Bloss-you OK?

Love to all

TheGoddessBlossom · 26/10/2007 20:12

yes thanks HC! Sorry you're still poorly.

Had a good day at Bird World today, both boys totally exhausted. I threw a mini tanty this morning when I was trying to brush H's teeth, he kept rolling the loo roll in it's holder and poking my cheek, on the 25th time of asking him to stop doing both things I threw the toothbrush on the floor and stomped off in a rage. I know. Really mature. He just sends me LUNAR sometimes.

DH not working this weekend though thank the lord, so looking forward to some help. Toby was really good today, so much less clingy than recently and slept straight through last night.

Annie you donut, I've done that before, so embarrassing.

So having prepared a presentation for next week and practiced it ad nauseam, I got an email through yesterday listing they're criteria of what they want me to present on. For double the time I was expecting. So binned mine, cancelled the cinema last night and wrote another, Just got to learn it now....

Lysettes, that does sound scary, delivering so early, I'm sure you're doing all the right things. Hugs.

Wonder how KZ is getting on in her epic transit stage....

lysette - sounds early but im sure they're doing what is best, good luck with the meds (((hugs)))

im looking forward to this weekend, we are having friends round for dinner on saturday night and il's are taking charlotte tomorrow night so we can have a lie in on the menu im making carrot and orange soup, chicken and leek pie with potatoes and veg and dh is making jamie olivers chocolate tart which he has made many times and is yummy all washed down with lots of wine of course

Twinklemegan · 26/10/2007 22:23

Hello. Just to let you know I'm still around, but I STILL have no broadband (blardy Tiscali grrrr). I'm not liking being back on steam-driven internet so I haven't been on Mumsnet for a while. But I'm really missing you all and I promise to try to get up to speed (no pun intended lol) when I finally get my connection back.

Everything else is going really well. Wallace - I'll email you soon about meeting up, if you're up for it?

Hope you and your LOs are all well.

xx

Wallace · 27/10/2007 07:39

Hi twink! Certainly up for it, looking forward to meeting you. How are you settling in?

beadmum - enjoy yourself tonight!

bloss - H is 3 is he? Much worse than terrible twos! Good luck with your presentation - eek!

HC - You gave me your rotten cold!

Annie - well done getting K in her cot! at your loo story

lysette - goodness that is early. Speeds the whole thing up a bit too much to think you could be having a baby that soon xxx

prettymum - could be leo yuo describe in your post!

kbaby - leo is getting a temper too, he is so determined and the screech he does if you try to take something away that he wants...!

I have a bloody rotten cold, such hard work when all you want to do is go to bed but you can't. I feel a bit better today than I did yesterday.

Have a halloween party today so I will try to take photos!

ceebeegeebies · 27/10/2007 13:31

Lysette ? hope you are feeling ok about the birth. 28 weeks does sound early and very soon! What month would that make it?

Annie ? am loving reading about your nighttime fun ? makes me feel better about our own traumas that I am not alone in this problem. Josh has gone from pretty much sleeping through every night to waking once a night now (which I know isn?t that bad) and whinging and whinging until we bring him into bed with us ? where he usually goes straight to sleep and then I move him back ? it is starting to get very annoying now but not sure how to tackle it at the mo.

Beadmum ? lovely to hear from you again. Charlotte sounds like she is doing really well and I also went and got Josh?s feet measured in Clarks, bought a pair of shoes from there and then went to Next to see what else I could get . Your dinner party menu sounds yum (particularly the chocolate tart).

Bloss ? grrrr for you about the presentation ? sounds like the organisation of the recruitment could be better (there?s me on my high horse cos recruitment is ?my thing!?) Good luck and that suit is seriously fab!!

Kbaby ? had to laugh at your spa story although I am sure you were not amused at the time ? hope you got some money back or at least something from the spa.

Pretty ? Josh is the same about a little bag that I put his food in when we go out ? whenever he sees it, he just points and says ?nana nana nana? over and over again because there is usually a banana in there.

Twink ? great to hear from you. Hope you can join us soon as I am dying to hear all about your fab new life/job and how Aiden has settled in.

Not much going on here ? DH has taken Josh to MIL?s for a few hours so I am making the most of it. Am going to cook a ?hidden vegetable? pasta sauce for Josh (dare I say it is an Annabel Karmel recipe) as I am sure he is not getting enough veg and he loves eating pasta twists at the moment.

Josh had chocolate biscuits for his brekkie this morning ? he was playing in the kitchen and gone very quiet and when I went in, he had managed to reach the packet of chocolate biscotti biscuits on the counter (which I swear were out of his reach) , pulled them off so he was sat in a pile of broken chocolate biccies, munching away. He looked even more cute as he had put a plastic bowl on his head at the same time . Really wish I had had the camera handy!

Josh keeps being sick (again!) ? it is the cough again. He can?t shift it and every time he gets a cough, it makes him sick. He has been sick every night for a week now and then was sick this morning. Not really sure what to do as he is eating fine (apart from an excess of choccie biccies obviously) and seems ok in himself. Guess will just wait and see what happens.

Anyway, enough from me ? hope you are all having a good weekend
x

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/10/2007 19:13

CB don't worry about Josh's diet. Toby roke all records by eating a record 5 fairy cakes at lunch yesterday when we were out, as he flatly refused all mylovingly prepared healthy options and he had to eat something. Little tyke.

He is really back to his old self these days thank the lord. Wish it could have happened a week ago though as both visits to my cousin have coincided with him being really hard work, and I know it's silly but you just want your friends to see them at their best IYSWIM...

It's amazing how much they understand isn't it? "Go and get your shoes Toby", "Shut the drawer/door/lid", "NOOOOOOOO!", "Go and get Mummy your train/car/hammer from the playroom". Loads of words too now, like "Mine", "Bang", "Mumma/Dada/Nanny/Poppa/Harry/Alice(the cat)/Pat (postman)", "more" etc. We were in training for tv watching today, DH was making ginger bread men with H and T and I had all the Postman Pat characters out in front of Pat on the telly.

Anyone else dreading the clocks going back tomorrow? Remember how pre children we loved getting an hour xtra in bed, and now it's just an hour longer till bedtime.

Gotta run, just realised I'm missing X Factor. Hi Bead and Twink and Wallace, and everyone.

Bloss

Hey all

Dom is a cake fiend too Bloss. I made some rock buns the other day while he was trapped in the highchair having his tea and he kept pointing thro the window of the oven shouting uh uh. Hope the presentation goes well, sure you'll walk it.

Congrats on the sleep thing Annie, one step at a time eh The number of times I've wondered whether it would help if I climbed into the cot with Dom....

DH is upstairs with the boy now trying to settle him down to sleep, think he keeps trying to leave the room as every so often there are howls of protest. Hoping for the best with the hour change tomorrow (and it's my turn for a lie-in )

Also the poor lad (DS not DH) has a perforated eardrum. Took him to the nurse yesterday as he had the most revolting yellow muck coming out of his ear. She took one look and prescribed anti-biotics (his first lot). We have to go back and see the GP next week to make sure it's ok.

agalch · 28/10/2007 08:36

Good morning all

I am sat here bfing Eilidh(yet again). She now says up up mummy and then settles into my lap, taps my nork and says that that!!! Don't know whats going on with her, teething i expect but my nips feel like they are going to fall off

Was out at our lovely local Indian restuarant last night. My dh looks after the owner and staff when they come into his work so the owner gave us a voucher for £50 to have a meal.My mum babysat so it was nice to eat out with no ankle biters!!

We did meet a couple last night there tho,who went to the Chinese place we are going to on Xmas day.Doesn't sound good and may not bother with it,said it was a cattle market with each table only given an hour to get seated eat and pay the bill. They also had to queue for 45 mins to be seated along with 30 other people as they had overbooked.
Am thinking about just losing the deposit and either cooking here or paying a bit extra and booking the Indian. Will look at the finances.Waht a bloody pain!!

I have to start thinking about what to get the girls for Christmas but no idea what, the boys are pretty much sorted. Have got ds1 a PS3 package which was £430 so that means that pretty much half of the £1000 i have saved for Christmas has gone already.Ds2 wants a Nintendo Wii thingy and a basketball stand/hoop thingy for the garden so that'll be the other half of my savings

Enjoy christmas when they are little cos it's a nightmare when they grow up!!

Wonder how KZ's getting on? Really funny/quiet without her hey?

Better go and entertain/bf Eilidh again so have a good day all xx

Lysette you take care. Thinking of you xxxx

kbaby · 28/10/2007 10:40

I weighed DS yesterday and he only weighs 24lb no wonder hes still in 9-12 month clothes. DD only weighs 2stone 8 so I guess im destined to have small children. Hes gone on hunger strike too, wont eat hardly anything unless he can eat it moving about. Meal times are becoming so frustrating and I am heartbroken over the amount of time I am spending doing homecooked food only for it to be untouched and then binned. Hell eat snacky things but no meals.

Lynsette- Why would they need to delier the baby early, have I missed anything?

Ceebee- They did get us a voucher for a complimentary treatment but im unlikely to go back there on my own again so wont use it. Never mind we?ve booked up another spa day for my Birthday in a different hotel so that should be fun.
Bloss- Know what you mean about friends seeing them at their best. I always pray that both DC will be angels if anyone visits us.

Have my first hangover today since DS was born. Went out to town last night and got a bit carried away.

Maewest- Hope hes better now.

We don?t know what to get DS for xmas either. DD is easy she wants everything. So far weve got her a bike and both of them a playhouse for the garden and DS a tickle me elmo which DH thinks is hysterical, guess ill jus have to wander around elc.
