She's too light isn't she? (Stop the panic! ;))

RPopz · 27/03/2015 19:58

Yup Pis it hurts. It actually really hacks me off that books/ hcps tell people it shouldn't hurt if you're "doing it right". Like Juni says... sensitive body part, extensive sucking... it's gonna hurt!! Have you got lanisoh? I used it before and after a feed. Rubbing breast milk on them and letting them air dry is supposed to be healing too. I think it was about 4 or 5 weeks before feeding was pain free for me.

willywallace · 27/03/2015 20:15

Definitely hurts Pis.

She's not too light zyla, premature babies always take a while to catch up. Hmm I'm making an executive decision not to get stressed yeah right.

Have I missed a picture of babyPis? Do I need to go onto website?

willywallace · 27/03/2015 20:15

Allergy Cookie?

cookielove · 27/03/2015 20:18

No I think its left over from his latest cold. He seems to be getting them quite regularly :(

TheBooMonster · 27/03/2015 20:18

pis are you using lansinoh? I've been trying to religiously use it before and every feed and my occasional cheeky pumping sessions and it really helps, I'm in considerably less pain now than I was in the first few days, though sometimes she has a lazy bum latch and is basically just chewing on my nipple and she has a vice like grip with her jaw, Shock that's not something nipple cream is gonna fix!

Pisghetti · 27/03/2015 20:25

Thank you! So I'm not going mad :-) no wonder they can't get bf rates up in my area - everyone thinks they're doing it wrong. Yes I have some lansinoh but have been lax with it. I need to start wearing a bumbag to transport my essentials around so it doesn't matter which room I get trapped under a baby in! BabyPis just choked on a gulp of milk and shat herself at the same time. It's hard work being a newborn.

TheBooMonster · 27/03/2015 20:26

whoops didn't see we were on page 24 so totally repeated without popz said about the lansinoh!

Aww Zyla she's a microdot! so long as she's following a line (ish) she should be fine though, Alex had seriously slow weight gain initially, still does in fact.

TheBooMonster · 27/03/2015 20:29

pis if it helps I made the misguided decision to use a cold wet wipe instead of a warm reusable wipe and Evie was so shocked she sharted on me, I had no trousers on Shock it was seriously unpleasant and DH was too busy giggling at my horrified expression to help me!

ZylaB · 27/03/2015 20:41

Also agree with the lansinoh, it's ace stuff (and good as lip salve too!)

Yeah wil I know, I'm being bad stressing, am trying to get better :)

JuniDD · 27/03/2015 20:46

Don't stress zyla!
One of my NCT group's DD's was born at 9lb10oz and is now like 16lb. Two weeks younger than my DD who seems to only get smaller compared to the rest of them. But...as they say, comparison is the thief of joy (my new favourite expression!). As long as she's gaining she's grand. xxx

OP posts:
ZylaB · 27/03/2015 21:51

I like that expression, I'll make DH repeat it to me!! (Am also now not feeding until tomorrow morning and having wine, so slightly tipsy yay!). DH is on baby duty, he bathed her alone, although first said 'shall I do it when you've had yours?' Until I pointed out I do it alone when he's stopping away, then he stepped up... It's a bit weird, but nice to have a break, even though we're all in the same room! :). (I'm sleeping in spare room though!)

RPopz · 27/03/2015 22:11

I carried that bloody Lanisoh everywhere for weeks Grin Ain't no feeding happening without it! Once had a small scale meltdown at DH after losing it down the side of the bed haha.

That is a good saying Juni!

Don't panic Zy!! She's just catching up. Don't they go by her corrected age anyway? My friend's baby was due around the same time as Isaac but he was induced at 35 weeks. He's so tiny in comparison to my big lump.

I know I keep moaning about this 3rd leap but it's driving me batty! We're back to fighting off the boob again today. Oh and apparently he doesn't like me holding him now! Shock What kind of baby doesn't like being held!?

ZylaB · 27/03/2015 22:30

They do correct for a year :). To be fair I'm being tipsily soppy as she's in a 0-3 months sleep suit tonight! A lot of the newborn stuff still fits, but the asda ones were too small, so we tried a george asda 0-3 month one and its big, but fits..awwww :)

ZylaB · 27/03/2015 23:00

popz is there an app with the wonder week/ leaps and growth spurts on them? Think I could do with it! :)

willywallace · 28/03/2015 01:03

Aw that's cute zyla. MicroWil was still in 0-1m stuff at 6 weeks.

I put her down for a nap in the pram at about 7.15 as she was knackered. I came to bed at 8.30 and fell asleep about 9. Woke up at midnight and she was still asleep! Obviously I grabbed her out of the pram as I thought she was dead which woke her up... I hadn't even got her ready for bed. She has since vommed all over both of us but seems happy enough and I had three hours sleep before midnight! Clearly she wants to start going to bed earlier.

Nessalina · 28/03/2015 01:47

Pis - I didn't realise sitting in the back was PFB behaviour which I am totally still doing Blush Love the name by the way! Smile
Yes, BFing hurt me a fair bit until about week 8 when my nips toughened up. We used a nipple shield until week 6 though, so it might just take two weeks to toughen them up, but I started later!
J is the king of the 'cough fart' which never fails to crack me up

Popz - Lol! Small victories!!
yeah, it's getting to be a bit of a squeeze in the bednest, but he can still do hands above head and feet to the bottom Smile only in a 0-6 grobag tho, which he's nearly grown out of... The older grobag are ridiculous, I have to fold half of them up, then he can't kick, so once he's run out of gro bags we'll have to look at moving him... I don't want to though , I love having him next to me!!

Boo - yay for fanjo intact! Grin And congratson the weight gain!

I totally burp J otherwise he is even more vommy than usual... Just a quick belch after each boob!

Wil - hmm I always think topping up is less for the benefit of the baby, and more for the benefit of midwives and HVs who can't bear to see any line but a straight one on a graph... They always said to us at NCT that weight gain was one of the last things you should look at to see if they're getting enough. If you're feeding them 8 times a day, there's 6-8 wet nappies a day, and they're satisfied (milk drunky!) after a feed, then you're in the good zone they said, so I've always just gone by that. Not had J weighed at all since the 6 week check now, I just think they psyche you out!
Good work on the accidental mega sleep!!

Zyla - that's great advice from Juni! H is a perfect little person, it doesn't matter what the rest weigh.

I'm up for the second night in a row with the mega shits

Nessalina · 28/03/2015 01:48

To clarify: Mega shits = me not J Blush

willywallace · 28/03/2015 05:13

Oh no! Hate the night shits.

Sitting in the back is total pfb behaviour Grin . Think I did it on way back from the hospital and that was it.

She is very rarely milk drunky. I do feel like she's not getting enough really but can't force her to feed, so I do understand her suggestion. Realistically zyla I would never have time to express enough to top up with breastmilk. I have expressed about 3oz in the last fortnight.

To curse me for my good fortune earlier, I really struggled to get back to sleep. I wonder how long she would have slept if I'd left her.

cookielove · 28/03/2015 07:13

E has just grown to big for his last set of 0-3 baby grows (m&s). he wears mostly 3-6 at 7 months old and he is too small for his 6-9. To be fair the 0-3 still fit fine on the arms and body but he couldn't straighten his legs!

wil are coughs linked to allergies?

ZylaB · 28/03/2015 07:14

wil yay for good sleep at the start though!

I sat in the back the first couple of journeys.

ness hope the bum gets better!

wil I do hate expressing too and can see how you wouldn't have chance with miniwil as well as microwil!

The 3 bottles lasted! I went from 11pm to 7am and feel amazing, except I think my boobs exploded, milk everywhere and really hard and painful lol! Am expressing after feeding so they don't hurt, so if I do it again I need to feed her part way through anyways! We're possibly going to watch a rugby match this afternoon so a bottle will save me getting a boob out in the crowd until I'm better at it!

Minion · 28/03/2015 07:31

New woman alert! Sound the klaxon!
R slept from 7-10:15 (bottle by husband), then woke at 1:30 for the long awaited poo (me, thanks R), then tried to get up at 5 again, then because her swaddle had got loose worked her hand to her mouth, spat out her dummy and feel asleep with her fingers in her mouth til 7!

Brilliant!
She's currently lying in bed with us exercising her vocal talents. Loud in the morning this one.

Ha, I went in back with her for the first few journeys and she fell asleep every time so I popped back in front.

Get me new car next week! Had to upgrade from the Fiat 500 as pushchair won't fit in and is a pain in the neck 3 door, to a Fiat punto.
Exited

ZylaB · 28/03/2015 08:01

I think H is starting to lose the hair she was born with, I wonder what colour the new hair will be! Grin

Yay for new car min

RPopz · 28/03/2015 08:59

I didn't know sitting in the back was pfb behaviour either... Blush I only do it sometimes...

Zyla the app is called Wonder Weeks.

Got to meet some friends at 10... DS is still asleep. Confused

RPopz · 28/03/2015 09:00

Hooray for big sleeps! And new cars Grin

Be back later x
