Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
novadandypowder · 25/08/2006 22:37

It went on for 7 months last time . I never bloomed either. Should have just got another cat....

Rodeo · 26/08/2006 21:48

Hello girls!
We're back Had a lovely holiday, weather was surrisingly good, none of us got fed up with each other (there was 9 of us altogether), found out Bella is a budding surfer, Joe is a master builder and Jess is a blonde!
Have really tried to catch up....glad everyone is ok, apart from Nova you poor thing , and Londoner's ds(?), hope he gets much better soon, I'm sure E will be fine
What else can I remember (before I scan upwards again for reminders) something about a community centre being burnt to cinders
and Diege going to Portugal (have you gone?), taking a book LOL! I didn't manage Marie Claire and that's mainly ads! What's Joe Jingles? (Reminds me of Bo Jangles. What's that?!).
Erm Bob losing her brain, yes it's very true, I've been esp. bad lately.
Twinkle off to Butlins, have a great time Their indoor water park things are amazing - from what I can remember! I was 9 when I went with my best friend's family and we danced all night in the disco to Spitting Image and Agadoo! Pestered my dad for ages for us to go but it is my dad's worst nightmare!
Welcome kiwicath & mumtojc! Hope you both stick around
GG, Is dp back at work now? How does it feel? Tried to answer your q on nappy bags but just didn't get it! Sorry, it's the baby brain again
Chully, is it Jonty who's got his first shoes?! Aw, I love Clarke's little soft t-bar ones Which is funny as I hate their older ranges! And am I going mental or do some people dip babies first shoes in brass?! I think it's a rather strange idea myself. Maybe I dreamt it....
Beks, Millwall?!! Blooming 'eck duck, they are rough! Derby County on the other hand Anyway boring?! You are anything but You always do loads with him! And handfuls of friends sometimes! Can you remember how boring the hols were when we were younger? I used to sit on the front door step for hours! And dad's always get to be the fun one, it's some unwritten rule somewhere, hmph....
Londoner, have a great time at your sister's wedding It's today? (or was it yesterday) Hows the hair? Is it fab?
L&S, yes we must meet up soon! And we won't have to rush back now for the end of pre-school! Yippee! We can stay on those leather sofas in Cafe Nero all day!!
Right, better leave it there, ok, so I did cheat and scroll upwards afterall. Great title too Bob, but I keep singing it, maybe we can have song inspired thread titles from now on?!
Speak tomorrow! I've missed you all! x x x

GarfieldsGirl · 27/08/2006 08:03

Hiya Rodeo, welcome back. Glad you all hada good time. I was going to say well done for remembering everything, but you cheated!! Oh, and boo to you, I've just got that blinking Spitting Image song out of my head from Christmas, and now its back!

Nova, not good about the sickness lasting so long. Sending you cyber hugs.

We must sort Wednesday out BEKs, only a couple of days to go!

Londoner, how was your sisters wedding? I bet E looked adorable in her bridesmaids outfit.

Oh, and Rodeo, yes DP is back in work. I'm finding it really good having him out of my hair! Owen is much better behaved, we've had no strops since he's been back. DPs not so sure though, they've dumped him in the office, I can see it all ending in a tribunal especially as he really enjoyed the job before.

Girls Aloud last night were really good, although very short, I think they must have overrun. Sarah, though did look a state, all she was missing was the fluffy pom-pom and bunny ears, and I'm sure Hugh Hefner would have come knocking! And please shoot me for saying this, but Chico was one of the support acts, and he was really good. Even I was bopping away to him in the end!

Right, off to report this post before too many peoople see that I thought Chico was good!

Enjoy the bank holiday everyone.

novadandypowder · 27/08/2006 16:06

Well, wake up at 6.30am to very loud music, and all we can hear are whistles and reggae - gotta love the Notting Hill carnival!

Rodeo · 27/08/2006 17:04

I'm bored! And still suffering from post holiday blues!
Bel & Joe are at their swimming lessons (it's Joe's first one!) and I've had to stay behind because Jess is in the land of nod.
Hi GG Chico LOL! Glad you enjoyed last night! So you must have missed x-factor! Some of them are just deranged , although I always seem to shed a tear for the sob stories - did anyone see the last girl to go through (she'd been stabbed, in a car crash, fell off a cliff etc.) and then her family ran through? Awwww...
6.30 Nova?! Have you been out there today? Sounds like good fun Not that's it's any comparison but someone round here had a band playing in their garden last night for some big party. Playing a lot of Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, went on til about 12. I would have been annoyed but they were rather good. Felt I was really missing out on something!
Brownie are you back yet?
Speak later x

Beksmum · 27/08/2006 17:28

Hi all

Welcome back Rodeo, you've been missed, glad you had a good holidays. Millwall rough - where do you get that idea from then

Diege hope you have a great one and that the worry about so many kids and so few adults was all for nothing.

GG Have posted a suggestion on the Y site for Wednesday - really looking forward to it. lol at you and Chico though

Nova I take it you've tried all the suggestions, for sickness and all the old wives tales too. Hope you feel better soon and that Carnival takes your mind off it for a while. Bet Nat will be enthralled, by all the sights and sounds.

Right got to go as supposed to be sorting out junk while Ben is at his friends, sorry to be so infrequent these days hope to get back to normal when Ben goes back to pre-school. Beks

GarfieldsGirl · 27/08/2006 19:04

Oh Oh Oh Ooohhhh! I've just won 2 tickets on ebay to see Robbie next month!!!!!! Ooooh, I've got that Crunchie feeling!!!!!

ChaCha · 27/08/2006 20:33

Hi girls,

Rodeo - Welcome back. Must have missed that, I didn't know Brownie or Diege were on holidays either - think i missed a lot.

Nova - Sorry to hear about your sickness. If it's any consolation I am sick after almost every meal, that's around 3-4 times a day, everyday. Have just had a long weekend at my mum's and must admit that it was 'nice' to be able to be sick without a little audience! At almost 15wks i'm not getting any better either, I really do hope that you do - sending you sympathies!

Has Enthusia posted since her PG news?

Feel I've missed so much don't really know what else to say. End up just talking about me - not unusual though, he hee!

Maybe i can have an update. x

LaylaandSethsmum · 27/08/2006 22:02

Hi girls,

Bit of a quiet day today. Layla is off camping for the night with daddy only gone to a site about 15 mins away but she thought it was a very exciting adventure! She was a bit concerned that me and S weren't going but she said to me before she went " If you want to you can borrow my hair brader while i'm not here"! She obviously thinks I like the hair barder as much as she does!
S is teething for england, he's really miserable and grumpy, his top 2 have just broken through the skin , can't wait for the molars to come now!!

Just a week left of the holidays now and then my liitle girl will be off to 'deception'!She can't wait, asking every day 'is it school today?'

Nova - Sorry to hear about your on going sickness, you know it will all be worth the misery in the end! Sure the Carnival isn't helping either with all the noise! Is Nat sleeping ok with everything going on?

Rodeo - Glad you had a good holiday. Jess , a blonde? Yes we must meet soon defo!!

GG - Robbie tickets well done you!! We saw him in 2001 and he was fab, dread to think how much you paid for them though!!

Need to arrange to go into work to discuss my return soon , can't believe how quickly this year is going, we'll soon be celebrating 1st birthdays!

Right off now, Football just come on and ,for once, I can change the channel and not have to watch it!

xxxxxxxx

browniechick · 28/08/2006 18:53

HELLO!!!!!
Yep - We are back! Got back on Saturday, but had a friends wedding to go to yesterday, so this is first chance to post (sorry!) and it's just taken forever to try and catch up!
Brief synopsis of our hols:-
weather wasn't too bad (no real rain to speak of, which was good!)
Thomas loved the beach, he ate a fair amount of sand, and pooed it too!!!
We all got on well,
I managed to climb up (and down) Snowdon so am now very proud of myself
T was grouchy towards end of hols, but think he is starting to cut his top teeth now.
(Had to take him to minor injuries this morning as noticed a rash appear all over his torso - very nice Dr lady we saw, said essentially, nothin to worry about, keep eye on him - most likely viral - but he's not contagious, which is good.)

Grandad - is still in hospital , been to see him today - doesn't look too bad, however he is v.v.v.v.v poorly, so fingers crossed....

Can't remember much of the news from here Londoner - hope whooping cough is on it's way out now - and that E is ok.
Rodeo - glad you had good time on hols
Diege, enjoy Portugal!
Welcome to the 2 new girls We are defintely very friendly!
Nova - sorry you are feeling pants, hopefully it might ease off soon.

Are we still on for the Stratford meet up??? Need to start thinking dates and get idea of numbers and attendees etc soon!

Ok, can smell my tea cooking now, so must dash, and check on T before I sit down in front of the TV for the night!
Speak later
Good to be back!!!! (missed you guys! )

Rodeo · 29/08/2006 11:07

Hi Brownie! Welcome back Where abouts in Wales were you? Well done with climbing Snowdon, We were going to go up it on the train 2 years ago but were put off by the prices! So ended up on the loch in on a boat with dp rowing Would have been nice but Joe threw the biggest tantrum beforehand so everyone was a bit frazzled! Yes we should get Stratford date sorted, I think maybe towards the end of the month seeing as we're hurtling towards September! How about the 17th of the 24th? (or couldn't Beks make the 24th?) Or what's the Sunday after that, the 1st Oct? They're all possible for us
So.....
Sunday 17th Sept,
Sunday 24th Sept or
Sunday 1st October??
L&S, shall we meet in the week 11th-15th Sept? LOL at the hair braiders I can just picture you using them on a cosy night in! How did the camping expedition go?
Hi Chacha, nice to hear your news, your weeks are flying by Sorry to hear your still being ill, was it the same with Zayn? I seem to remember you being quite bad?
Not much news to report here, Jess is crawling pretty fast now, and she has an open stairgate/door radar at the moment, so keep finding her halfway up the stairs or out the backdoor, really must remember to close them!
Love to everyone else. Please post more, I'm bored!!

GarfieldsGirl · 29/08/2006 11:20

Hi Welcome back Brownie, wow! climbing Snowdon, well done!

I won't be able to do the 17th for Stratford, as thats the day after Robbie, so I'll be on the biggest high of my life, plus sleeping of course.

browniechick · 29/08/2006 20:16

Hello!
Rodeo - We were in North West Wales, a little village called Rhostryfan - we stayed in a self-catering converted barn, which slept 6 (3 bedrooms) plus a cot for Thomas. It was a very scenic location, gorgeous views from the back of the cottage we were in, we could see the sea, the beach and Caernafon Castle .
Very nice!

Think all those dates are ok for us at the moment!

Thomas is defintely speeding up with his crawling - he is like a speeding bullet! And seems to fit into some very small places! But - I am pleased he is active and inquisitive (most of the time, anyway!!!)

Gonna have a quick surf on the interweb before CSI!! Double bill of it tonight - yippee - I love CSI! So, nighty night all, hope everyones babes are peacefully sleeping!

Enthusia · 30/08/2006 09:02

Hi all

Saw my little one on a scan yesterday which was fab. Was refered to EPU after gp thought I might be having a multiple pg, due to my size. But thankfully just one healthy 7 week old baby with a very strong heart beat. It is nice to know my dates are right too.

Feeling quite sick but haven't been yet, just amazingly tired. Don't remember that last time round!

Sam is brilliant, crawling around incredibly fast now. So fast the cat actually has to run away and gets the shock of her life if she is a little slow. He is still eating everything he is given, although he doesn't eat a huge amount. Have no idea how much he weighs etc as haven't seen a wicked HV since about month 4.

Hope you are all well

Enthusia

Rodeo · 30/08/2006 10:19

Morning
Hello Enthusia Congrats on your scan, are you relieved it's only one? I think I'd be a bit disappointed, but only for a few mad seconds when the relief set in!
Brownie, I think we stayed near there a couple of years ago, we were camping and our tent broke as it was soooo windy (we were between 2 mountains though so it acted like a wind tunnel!)! Where did you find the barn? Is it independent or with a company?
Right got to go, we're off to a local petting farm to collect eggs. Speak later x

ChaCha · 30/08/2006 12:13

Hi girls,

Is everyone away at the moment? I seem to have missed so much and no updates..

Welcome back Rodeo and Brownie from your respective holidays - both sound lovely. We are off on holiday on the weekend of 15/16th September and am really looking fwd to that - have already started packing! With weather set to be in mid 30's think i'll need to get my hands on lots of little summery things for DS - have noticed winter range coming into some of the shops already.

Thanks for asking Rodeo - was sick with Zayn (up to four times a day) until week 41, more of the same again but less time to sit around moaning about it (except when at mum's of course as i can get away with it there). I'm really looking fwd to the 20 week scan, 5 weeks to go...where has it gone?

DS has a fascination with sweeping brush, I'll pop some pics on Y later - it's hysterical. He goes mad if i'm sweeping the floor, has absolute tantrums and smiles when given the brush - starts sweeping from his baby walker and is happy with that for ages! Funny baby.
He has two top teeth coming through now, weighs just under 10kg and is 75th centile for both weight and height. Head butts a lot, kicks, but also gives lovely kisses and cuddles.

BoB - I'm not sure if you're away too but I wanted to mention baby bottles. DS is still using the one that you would use for a small baby - the ones with more holes are no good for him, he just doesn't like them and ends up getting half his milk all over him or choking. Do you think this is cause for concern? He drinks water fine from cup, not sure why he won't take well to more holes in teet/teat?

Hope to see more of you online soon - have missed catch ups. Well, it's me birthday on Friday and going away with 8 friends for the weekend - a local campsite although we'll be staying in the dorms, I can't wait.

Right, hope i've not bored you all but look fwd to some replies...you can't ALL be on holiday!!!

Love C & Z x

babyonboard · 30/08/2006 16:57

Hi all

Lol at Z with the sweeping brush chacha! you've got him well trained to help with chores I see..he heee!

We are still using the medium flow teats as we had the same problem with the faster ones, and he refuses to let us hold the bottle for him so ended up drenched and spulttering. I'm sure it makes little difference!

Beks and GG - hope you enjoyed the seaside, it's been a lovely sunny day here!

I'll catch up later I can hear the sounds of a very stinky nappy being produced.
x

OP posts:
Rodeo · 30/08/2006 18:38

Hello Bob and Chacha!
Chacha, is it Ejypt you're off too you lucky thing?! I'd say get into town now to grab some bargain summery things for Z. Or how about ebay? I personally love second hand stuff, esp. children's clothes Have you any friends with slightly older boys who could pass anything down?
Have you a date for your 20wk scan? I spoke to my pg friend last night who's just had hers, she didn't find out but he's convinced it's a boy! We'll find out around Christmas!
Funny you should speak of bottles too, I was thinking we'll have to move to beakers soon now they're coming up to a year. Jess is still drinking from slow flow teats but only at bed and naptimes, during the day she drinks from a soft spout beaker. Have you tried Z with one of those? I remember Jess used to splutter and get drenched at first, but it just needed a bit of practice on her part to get used to them.
Yes hope Sean & Tom have had a lovely meet-up, and Owen & Ben You too Tracy and what's GG's name? Hmmm, think it's something pretty like Erica, it's got an 'i' in the middle I think, saw it on Yahoo.....
Hi Bob, how are you? Hope you do check on again later, feel like you've not been on for ages Oh and before I forget, was showing my sister some of our photos the other day (hope nobody minds?) and she said O was really cute and handsome, and she's not the most baby-minded person!
Well the farm was nice, collected loads of eggs for family and friends! Petted all the animals but we now stick of goat! They do smell strong don't they?! I've washed my hands about 15 times and they still whiff
Anyway better dash, Jess has managed to scale the coffee table! And I need to find out GG's RL name because it's bugging me!

GarfieldsGirl · 30/08/2006 18:56

lol Rodeo, its hidden on Yahoo somewhere. Have a close look at the photos! I'll let you look before I or someone else lets you in on the secret!

Unfortunately BEKs garage kept her car (and didn't tell her) so we were unable to get together today. But we did have a chat on the phone last night. So strange to hear a real voice after all this time!

I'll pop back later to see if you've found it!

ChaCha · 30/08/2006 20:40

So? There is life on this planet then?
Phew!!

BoB - Hey, you're back! Were you away? Whatever you were up to hope that all is well. How's little O doing? Glad to hear that O is like Z where bottles are concerned - no worries then.

Rodeo - Can sympathise with smell. DS is on a goats milk/cheese diet. Need i say more?
We are off to Egypt for 2 weeks and ebay is a very good idea, hadn't thought of that! What's the best suncream that i can get for LO? Any suggestions? I also saw an ad for nappies that you can wear in the water - what are they called and are they any good? Thanks. As for a stroller, mum picked me up a Mclaren in the carboot, washed it all up and it came up lovely, can't complain. As for the plane, do we take a car seat with us? Sorry for so many questions. Hope you don't mind. What about beakers? Which do you find best? And how much water do you all give your LO's in any given day?

GG - Sorry you didn't make it out with Beks, hope she's okay and car has been set free!

DS is sleeping for England today and being v.aggressive when awake. Is it normal for them to have tantrums at this age? Could it be his teething maybe? Crying and kicking legs this afternoon while i swigged my coke in a 'I want!' kind of way. Geeeesh!

Almost forgot - Tessasmum - How's the conversion/extension going? DH glad to have his niche back? DH has given up on his...well for now anyway.

See you all later x

Beksmum · 30/08/2006 22:31

Hi all

Blimey it's been quiet on here, thought it would take me a week to catch up

GG really sorry about today, absolutely gutted as was looking forward to meeting you guys as our boys sound very alike. We will definitely have to meet up at half term. I finally got very shirty with the garage at 10:45am when they still hadn't phoned me and they said "oh we tried to call you at 5:45pm last night but couldn't get through to your mobile" - strange they'd managed it an hour before. Not that the call would have been any good as they shut at 6pm and they won't wait around. I was not amused to say the least and I think they realised that by the time I got off the phone. Arrgghhhh

What's with the strange voice then - it's a true 'sourf' london accent that mate

Rodeo I know what GG's name is!

Bob & Chacha I use the variflow or size 3 teats with Tom, the milk doesn't seem to touch the sides before the bottle is empty and he uses and advent soft spout cup for water.

Chacha can you teach my dh what to do with a brush when you get 5 minutes, he wouldn't know one end from the other

Welcome back Brownie, glad you had a nice holiday, not sure climbing a mountain can be classed as r&r though

L&Smum loved 'deception' that's fantastic, if only she knew how right she is.

Enthusia glad all is going well with your little bean.

We definitely won't be having any more, I threw away the old car seat at the weekend and gave away all our baby stuff to a friend so that's it for me - must admit I felt a bit gutted at the time though, especially at the prospect of never having a daughter, then again the only other female in the house is the cat and I can't say that we're fans of one another, so maybe it's for the best

Just before I go Tom's got a new party trick which makes me laugh, when we sing Row, row your boat but say if you see a crocodile don't forget to scream, he screams in the right place, it's hilarious and he looks all pleased with himself too.

Tessasmum are the builders driving you mad yet? Mine are just starting to grate with me, but then againthe shell of our bedroom is looking fab so shouldn't moan I suppose!

Well hope everyone else is well and that these lo's aren't running you all ragged Beks

novadandypowder · 31/08/2006 11:17

Chacha - how come your pg seems to be going so much faster than mine? It seems to be really dragging for me.

As for water/beakers - Noo has juice from a doidy cup with lunch and dinner, and her milk and water from a bottle. I tried this week to start giving her water from a cup during the day, but she throws the biggest tantrums whenever I bring the cup towards her, so I've gone back to the bottle for now. I'm afraid I opt for the easy life - bad mummy!

Enthusia - thats good news on the bean front

Swapping my Quinny for a Maclaren today with another MNetter. It's such a good deal, she's coming to my house to do the swap so I don't have to do anything.

A guilty mummy moment - thought Noos horrid nappies were down to teething, but have now realised that the fish dishes that were made last week were off . The rest have gone in the bin, but feel so bad for not twigging sooner.

ChaCha · 31/08/2006 15:39

Hi Beks [waves]

Hi Nova - The easy life is sometimes the best, I am with you, especially these days.
I am finding that the weeks are whizzing past which is the total opposite of last time. Last PG seemed to drag on forever and dominated my whole life, this one seems to be whizzing past and TBH family/friends don't really make the fuss that they did with PG 1, in fact, i'm lucky if people remember to ask how I am - It's more 'how's the little one?' and i guess the days are more centred around DS rather than my PG ailments/milestones etc. It's definitely very different this time round. I even think that DH forgets at times!!
How are you feeling now anyway? How do you spend the days in general with feeling so sick?

Poor noo noo but as she's produced the nappies you've mentioned guess she's got it all out her system and is fine - these things happen.

Nice of MNer to pop round yours for swap.

Right, talk soon x

Rodeo · 31/08/2006 20:11

Evening!
Just popping on to keep Chacha happy and amused!
Yes I did find out GG's name! I knew it had an i in it! And I did get to see a sliver of face! Shame meet-up didn't happen though, well we've got Stratford soon
Will you be coming Chacha? Anyone else? Nova? I'm expecting you'll be too ill if the last few weeks are to go by it would have been nice to meet you and Nat again. Tessasmum? How far's Stratford from you? And Londoner? Bob?
Chacha, My daytime beakers are Tesco specials And Jess mainly has her water with her dinners. Not much actually gets drunk (mainly gets shaken around and lobbed on the floor) but they only need small amounts really unless it's quite hot or they're poorly. Oh and those Little Swimmers nappies are good.
Nova, that's really clever off Nat drinking from a doidy cup Does she hold it herself? Need to get Jess weighed soon so will try to remember to get buy one from the HV. I can see it ending in disaster but we'll give it a go!
Aw Beks what a cutie! We sing that version too Jess's current obsession is Dora the Explorer, just sits there with her little hands in the air smiling at the telly (Bit like baby Maggie from The Simpsons must be a 3rd child thing, I don't use the TV as a babysitter, honest!)
Feeling a bit guilty about saying I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK! Oops sorry, did I shout that? The holidays have been nice but they're a bit long! And we've spent a small fortune! Took them all swimming today, and Joe amazed us by wanting (and thoroughly enjoying) going down the flumes on his own! Even the Black Hole! Jess enjoyed herself too, but why is it when they splash it always goes straight in your eyes?! And I never remember to take my mascara off!
Dp is back now so it's teatime for us, speak tomorrow x x x

Rodeo · 31/08/2006 20:15

Oops seems my current obsession is those little smiley faces!
