Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

Londoner · 18/08/2006 10:41

Oh, chully, teddy post so sweeeeet!

Diege · 18/08/2006 17:09

Afternoon!! Just taking a breather from Clearing hotline - phew, the lines are so busy! Always nice when we can 'let them in', always seem so grateful! LOL at baby brain BOB; I had the same thing with dd1, but by time dd3 came along I think (only think mind) that I've become a bit sharper, maybe because of the sheer necessity of having to organise everything/one and juggle like a crazy woman between work and home . Think my brain went on self-presevation fight or flight! What I have had problems with since dd3 is not so much remembering things as remembering WHO it is that has told me things, hence embarrassing situation whereby I tell a funny story to the person who actually told me!!
Great to hear everyone's news - boo to the coughs LONDONER - they really go 'through' you those coughs don't they? esp. night-time ones Hope you are feeling less sicky NOVA, and getting as much rest as Nat permits!
Big hello to everyone else! Am working now till 7 ish, then all day tommorrow, so may be a bit of a stranger till Sunday. Will be back for BB final though, so looking forward to that!! (sad I know!!).
Oh and just so you don't think I'm losing my touch, can report a very successful lunchtime shopping spree for dds (x3) clothes in H&M . Really gorgeous baby and toddler stuff (though 'blind' to the boys things I'm afraid!!)and have got some nice things ready for the winter months . Poor L's current trousers are sooo tight, she actually fell backwards when I sat her down in them , with a serious case of 'camel hoof' poor child .
Right, back to my mersey missioin for those poor children...

GarfieldsGirl · 18/08/2006 21:30

Aaahhh, bless him, Sean keeps falling asleep sitting up with his face squished against the bars! But he's getting used to going to sleep by himself in his cot, and its having the knock on effect that he only wakes once during the night, yippee!!!!! RESULT!

Hope you didn't upset too many people today Diege, and enjoying the BB final!

babyonboard · 19/08/2006 10:28

Morning all!

GG aaw at Sean, and hooray for him sleeping well!
We found O asleep in an upside down V position the other night, hope you can imagine what I mean, as if he was a about to break into a headsatnd..lol..how on earth is that comfy! We spent a good 10 minutes giggling at him (bad mummy and daddy!)
Still can't believe S is walking! wow!

Diege, sounds like you've been busy! at least you found time to shop though

londoner, hope your brood are recovering! and you'd best post us a pic of you and E in your wedding outfits!

Beks..lol at 'this is the real deal' you're always so funny . Hooray for T learning to stand. It's amazing how they make such leaps so quickly, then before you know it they're onto the next stage.

Nova - hope you got some rest and are feeling better, have you arranged another scan?

Is chacha away? she hasn't posted in a while..

oops best go, my bath's about to overflow
Enjoy your weekends, lets hope for sunshine!
xx

babyonboard · 19/08/2006 10:42

What was I saying about baby brain!?
I've just run myself a lovely bath of freezing cold water..argh!

Nova- have you read any of the hype about rachel Johnsons book 'Notting Hell'? - it looks like an amusing read.

And I forgot to ask before, I remember a couple of you were doing baby signing, how is it going?

OP posts:
GarfieldsGirl · 19/08/2006 11:18

Oh bob, pmsl at Oz in headstand position, not bad mummy & daddy at all, we do the same, often call the other to see the odd positions they get themselves into. How was your cold bath?!?! lol!

Londoner · 19/08/2006 11:54

Hi, looks like it's whooping cough. They were all immunised but it seems it can wear off and is more often seen in the 11-18 age group nowadays. They say it's just the babies who don't fare so well with it which is why they immunise them so young and it's just a question of riding it out... the '100 day cough' as it's nicknamed. E has only had 2 jabs so far and I feel it would be unwise to run out and get the 3rd now as I don't want to overload her system when she must already be fighting it, I'm hoping she has good immunity from bf but I am really worried about her getting it... and as for my sister's wedding on Friday.. sorry for 'me' post but having a bit of a time of it. On the up side, in between coughing bouts the kids seem perfectly well and with good appetites and enjoying eachother's company on the hols but it's really awful when they have a coughing fit as they can't catch breath and are sick.
BEKs hope your loft is coming on nicely.
Lol BoB and GG at you babies in funny sleeping positions.
And yes will certainly post pics of the wedding next week.
Love to all.x

Beksmum · 19/08/2006 13:29

Afternoon all

Bob pmsl at your cold bath - nice one! O sounds like Tom as he's a restless sleeper, the alarm went off again last night as he had pressed himself into the top of the cot.

Londoner what a nightmare hope the kids are feeling better soon - 100 days of coughing, you'd have to put me in a loony bin by the end of that as coughing drives me nuts. Hope the wedding goes well next week.

Well Ben's been horseriding this morning on a horse called Ben which he thought very amusing! Strange thing is he finds walking boring but trotting great fun!

We're off to a kids party this afternoon, then hopefully we'll have a quiet day tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great weekend Beks

GarfieldsGirl · 19/08/2006 15:10

Hope all the little Londoners are better soon. Hopefully as you say, the bf will help Elizabeths immunity.

Am sat here photocopying every wage slip of mine & DPs from April 03-Aptil 06(paid weekly!) for tax credits. Argh! They've paid nearly £12,000 through our wages that we've never received, so now have to do this to prove it! An ongoing saga for several years now.

GarfieldsGirl · 19/08/2006 17:48

Sorry to bore you all with football, but please just let me have my moment! WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!!! There won't be any other time this season when a Pompey fan can say that. Right its out of my system now, see ya!!!

Diege · 19/08/2006 21:15

Evening!! Good to be back in from work, though an now totally disorientated and think it should be Saturday tommorrow . Will get a rude awakening on Monday morning!! LOL at O's head stand BOB ; think we would have had a good giggle too! LONDONER: oh no whooping cough . Remember my sister having it as a baby, and most of the children in the village, and not pleasant I know. Is it effecting the night-times too, or are you able to get some rest ready for the next day? Fingers crossed it won't last the 100 days . BEKS: wow, horseriding! Aww, how cute that Ben was on his namesake; toddlers love things like that don't they? How old was ben when you first took him riding? Wanting to start with my two, but as usual am too disorganised to get things sorted!! Still trying to get them down the swimming pool!! .
GG: lol at you and the footie!! Go on then, what team are 'pompey'?? Is there no chance you will 'stay up'?? I like penalty shoot-outs in the big matches, but that's about it!
Well, have had an unsettled few hours, with L not settling at all at 7 . She was very tired, so did the old controlled crying for about 20 mins, but 'sensed' this was not going to work. She seemed fine, giggling at her toys, when picked up, so tried again until deciding to check her gums and YES, A TOOTH AT LAST!!! Rubbed some teething gel on, and wow, straight to sleep!! Have never found it that effective in the past, but it's my NBF!!!
Away in Wales tommorrow, so catch up sunday eve

Londoner · 19/08/2006 21:28

Thanks for the support girls, Diege, in fact it's mostly night-time when they're coughing, and seem fine during the day. Fingers are crossed for a better night tonight.
Have had my hair cut today for my sister's wedding, first time in 2 and half years! Am v.pleased, will keep me going if more coughing tonight.
Diege, have a fantastic time in Wales! You really deserve a break. Oh and hooray for Libby's tooth, just wait til you hear her chink it against a spoon or glass, sooooooo so sweet!
Right, must put ds2 to bed... he's playing with the Brio train track, ahhhhhhhhhh.
x

GarfieldsGirl · 19/08/2006 22:05

Have a good day in Wales Diege. 'Pompey' are Portsmouth, and top of the Premiership, wahoo, I know, I know. Hopefully will stay up. Should do TBH. I'll stop boring you now or I'll go on forever...

Hope you're able to get a bit of rest Londoner. New haircuts are fab aren't they. Must get mine done beofre DP goes back to work.

Londoner · 20/08/2006 09:52

Thanks GG,

Much better night last night, although E has coughed 3 times now in last 12 hours so am watching her closely.
GG, such fantastic news that your dp is going back to work, you must be over the moon!
BEKs, so funny post about horse riding!
BoB, lol at running cold bath. Running overflowing or cold baths is my forte these days too. I'm not surprised btw as your hormones will be pretty jangly and all over the place after your recent loss to do with effects of hormones but also stress imo. There's only so much a girl can take without it having some sort of effect, go easy on yourself. Enjoy being daffy woman....
Right, off to get boys things for wedding, not sure how this will go down with ds1 who is fast asleep.... shall I go in for the softly softly approach of tea and toast in bed and accompanying friendly chat, or will it be clapping hands and loud annoying voice to rouse the sleeping teenager...................hmmmmm...........

GarfieldsGirl · 20/08/2006 10:07

Hiya Londoner, glad you had a better night, fingers crossed for you that E's is just a normal cough.

Yes, very pleased DP is going back to work. Its been almost 15 months! Getting less nervous, and more excited as it gets closer as I'm now remembering my time alone with Owen.

lol at you trying to decide how to wake ds1! Just don't do what my mum used to do. We lived in a bungalow when I was a teenager, and my bedroom was opposite the front door. Instead of just coming in and telling me to get up, she'd stand outside my room jangling the keys for 10 minutes and would then keep lokcing and unlocking the front door to wake me up. Soooo annoying I'd get up every morning and have a go at her (in typical moody teenage fashion). She never learnt, she still did it whenever I stayed there after I'd moved out!

novadandypowder · 21/08/2006 09:56

GG, as a southampton lass all I can say is 'booooooooo!!!!!'

Went for another scan on friday and all is well. MS is getting worse though and have called in some emergency help this week whilst DH is away. Was shocked at how expensive nannies are so have reached an arrangement with our current childminder.

Noo is being an absolute handful, don't know where she gets all that energy from.

mum2jc · 21/08/2006 15:44

Hey guys. Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. My little pom was born on 29/11/05. Was due 24th Dec but suprised us all with her early entrance. Guess she just wanted to be here before christmas.
Goodness talking about her arrival seems like a lifetime ago, shes not such a baby anymore. Growing up too quick.
Now she's almost 9 months and is eating anything put infront of her (even those things she shouldn't)and babbling away just like her mummy. Sorry to rant on my first visit just could do with a good adult conversation IYKWIM.

Londoner · 21/08/2006 16:22

Hello mum2jc...... welcome!
It's good to have you on board, especially at the moment when so many of our group are on holiday, you've timed it well!
So you have a 9 month old daughter, snap! Although mine was born a month earlier, having been due November 5th, on 29th October, so she's just shy of 10 months now. How was your birth what with it being earlier than expected, did everything go okay for you and baby, sorry if that's too nosey. We have babies born from early October right through to December on here so you'll fit in nicely. Your lo eating sounds great, and lol at her chatting like you!
Is she mobile yet? We have a whole range of babies at different stages, from sit and thinkers to rolly bottom-shufflers right through to one who's just taken his first steps... you know who you are Jonty.
Here's our stats thread so you can see who we all are and maybe add your details if you feel like it.

Oh, oh gotta go baby in catfood alert!

Londoner · 21/08/2006 16:25

Aaarg, she got some in her mouth! Luckily the dry stuff.
Whoops, realised I got the walker wrong, it is in fact GarfieldGirl's Sean.... but I reckon Chully's Jonty isn't far off....

babyonboard · 21/08/2006 16:25

Hi ladies

Mum2cj, welcome, we are renowned as the friendliest place to be on mumsnet..tehee
If you read from the bottom of this thread you can read what all of us and our babies are up to , to get you familiar.

OP posts:
mum2jc · 21/08/2006 17:34

Londoner -Just added my stats and had a quick read. Nah not nosey, about the birth, She was born 3 hours after i realised i was in labour so no time for pain relief. It was all pretty quick. She spent a week up in SCBU to help fight an infection and help maintain temperature. She came home a week later with the biggest pair of lungs ever. Yep she's a screamer. I keep being told she's got fiery personality, they all say it's her red hair, I'm not so sure.Does anyone else have a redhead?

She started to become mobile last week, she's a commando crawler at the mo but its suprising how quick she goes. walkers can't begin to imagine that one yet, she gets into too much already.

Beksmum · 21/08/2006 20:56

Hi girls,

Welcome aboard mum2jc, your little girl sounds lovely, my son's best friend is a red head and she can be sweetness and light most of the time but when she wants to be a madam, boy do we know about it!

Londoner excellent snap shot of the thread, how are the kids are they feeling any better? Hope E only has a baby cough and doesn't get whooping cough - poor mite. How did the shopping go? Lol at E and the cat food, Tom's taken a real shine to Felix and no that's not my cat's name

GG lol at you and your footie, at least you support a local team I suppose and someones got to haven't they I can't speak my family allegiances are to Palace and Millwall yeah yeah get up from rofl

Nova glad to hear bump is cooking nicely, ms sounds flaming horrendous, Noo is not taking that into consideration I take it, bet having her climbing all over you is driving you nuts. Hope the childminder helps and that your dh is bringing you back a very big pressie on his return.

Diege well done L on your tooth, hope she cuts the rest a bit easier.

Girls I need some sympathy and some ideas please. I feel really gutted as Ben got up early this morning and begged his daddy not to go to work and leave him with me as I'm boring. I try really hard to keep him amused and I thought we do loads together but last week had to be a quiet one as the builders were starting and now I feel really gutted and cross that that's how he views me. I know he has had less attention than normal now Tom is crawling and standing and that I shouldn't be so sensitive but he's being a right horrid little git at the moment and I don't know what to do with him. Sorry rant over just had to get that off my chest.

Have managed to post some pics up on the Y site if anyones interested GG have a look before you buy your Venture ones if you like them you could always come up here and get some done at less than half the price!

Right best go and sort out the ironing, speak to you all later Beks

Beksmum · 21/08/2006 20:59

Oops meant to answer Diege about horseriding, it was only Ben's 2nd lesson and we've lied and said he was 5 - bad mummy but at 3ft 8" who's going to question it Night night Beks
