Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

Seems like I'm writing Nova off the Stratford meet too, didn't mean to come across like that

Don't worry about writing me off Rodeo, was nearly sick in the supermarket today (only went because I had to have carrot cake), so I think Stratford won't be on my to do list for a while.

No way does Noo hold the cup herself! She'd end up covered in juice. I hold the cup, but she's very good at drinking from it. I tried her with a tommee tippee sippy cup for water, but she would only drink from it with the lid off, and then went into a major tantrum. I can't believe the tantrums we get from noo, full on throwing self on the floor and hysterical crying. She also drinks out of the jug that I use to wash her in the bath, if I leave it in her reach, as I discovered whilst I was vomiting in the toilet when she was in the bath, literally turned away for a minute and there she was drinking away.

Huggies little swimmers are great disposable swim nappies. I gave up getting reusable swim nappies as noo grows out of them too quickly, and the Huggies ones are quite reasonably priced. I can't believe I've just bought noo some winter clothes in the size of a two year old

Probably shouldn't have watched it, but taped the Gail Porter docu on adoption abroad. It's quite sad, and made me want to go and adopt all the unwanted little children (sob).

Oh Nova, sickness obviously not letting up yet. Aw, Nat's living up to the Scorpian she was supposed to be instead of the peace-loving Libran And wow, size 2 clothes, Jess is only out of her 3-6 babygro's, would have probably been in for them longer if I hadn't noticed her 'Talipes' looking feet . I saw the Gail Porter doc too, it was so sad, and I had the exact same feelings of wanting to adopt them too. Maybe something to think about for the future....
And did you (or anyone else) see the doc that was on the other side? Attached parenting? Now extended breatfeeding & co-sleeping is fine by me, but 'elimination communication' is taking things a bit far (for those not in the know(!) it's when a baby doesn't wear a nappy, ever! Well not sure about bedtimes, but in the day) There was also a woman who didn't ever use a pushchair and carried her child everywhere (from birth to age 4 and a half). The ideology of it was quite nice (that there was always skin to skin contact/the child was always involved in day to day activities etc) but it must have been back-breaking! Carrying Jess on my hip for 20 minutes is bad enough!
Hi Kiwi! Good to see you back! Hmmm, I'd go to Dorset or Lyme Regis for a weekend away down South, think the Southerner's may have better suggestions though
Right had really better go this time, dp feeling abandoned!

Evening all

Nova you poor thing, what a nightmare you're having. Nat and Tom sound very alike, he loves drinking water out of the jug we use for hairwashing as well as sucking on the flannel - yum yum. Needless to say the little monkey won't drink clean water from a beaker
They sound alike size wise too as Tom is in 12-18mths now and I have used a couple of 2 year old bits already but he will definitely be in them for the winter.

We're going to a family wedding reception Saturday night and I'm going to have to take back the outfit I got from the posh bit of Mothercare as 18mths is too small. I got him weighed a couple of weeks ago and he was 25lb so I reckon he's got to be pushing 2 stone now, he doesn't look particulary fat but he is flaming solid and carrying him is doing my back in

For the Stratford meet we can do the 17th and possibly the 24th just depends if my parents are back from Spain as it's their 40th wedding anniversary tha weekend, so we will need to go out and celebrate that achievement.
Can't do the 1st Oct as have a 50th B'day party to go to, it's flaming 70's fancy dress, what does a fat bird go as, it's not as if fancy dress hirers cater for size 26 The last time I had to do fancy dress was for a pimps and hookers party, you can imagine my reaction to that one, so I hired a full size grey dog suit, drove to the party in it, minus the head getting some very odd looks, my friend got it straight away but others had to have it explained to them that I'd gone as an 'old dog'. Paul looked fab in his pimp suit

Sorry another essay from me, hope everyone is well Beks

Good morning,

So tantrums and drinking from the rinse cup are all normal - glad to hear this! DS would not go into highchair this morning for breakfast, ended up stuck underneath tray on his way down and wouldn't let go of sides - was a nightmare! Glad breakfast is now over.

Beks - 70's fancy dress. I would have loved that years ago - oooooh! Sounds great.

Hi Rodeo, Nova and KC.

Well, the birthday girl is off to get ready for weekend away - (subtle reminder there ) Talk Monday x

Happy Birthday Chacha!! Have a fab one, and a great weekend away too!

We are off up to Diege's neck of the woods tomorrow - to celebrate my Nannas birthday - a bit of a family "do"! Think they will be astounded at how much T has changed!!

Nursery were amazed yesterday when we picked him up, they said that he was a baby when he left and now he is a little man!!! (bless) he has hair, is chattering away, won't sit still, crawls everywhere and wants to stand and have a go at walking!!

He is just doing so well, I can't believe that he is now 9 months old!!

Rodeo, think you asked about Wales cottage - found the website through the National Trust Magazine! They were self-catering and think there were 5 or six converted outbuildings in total - very nic, and there was plenty of parking too which makes a change! can look here (Our accom ref was G268 if you want a nosey!) the people were v.v.v helpful, both at wales holidays and also at the farm we stayed on! would def recommend them!

So - have we decided on a date for STratford meet up? Or should we wait till Diege gets back? Have we rough idea of numbers yet? Think Rodeo,Diege,GG, Beks any others??

Speak Later,

Brownie

Happy Birthday ChaCha, although I don't expect you'll see this 'til you get back, and have a good time away.

Don't worry BEKs, your voice isn't strange, just not computer generated!

Weather in south east looks a bit mank tomorrow. Waterproofs all round for Red Bull then. We'll be making an early start so I should be going to bed really.

Cath - DP and I both love the New Forest, but probably quite expensive to stay there. Lulworth Cove area in Dorset is really nice, lots of cliff top walks. There are lots of other places I used to go with my mum & dad around the south, lots of riverside walks, I'll have a think about it, see if I can remember any of them.

Happy Birthday ChaCha! Have a lovely weekend!

Brownie, I know what you mean about them changing - we don't see family often, so that when we do meet up they are astonished by J's development! T sounds really sweet - has he had to have a haircut yet, then?

Well, J has a filthy cold, and if I slept for an hour last night it's a lot, so I'm off to bed now! Hi to everyone and enjoy your weekends!

Hey - Only popping on v. quickly - had some really sad news this morning - my Grandad died this morning at 7am. Passed away peacefully, and I know he is in a better place, but it is still very sad.
Don't want to dwell on it too much, as don't want to depress everyone, but he was a wonderful man, who inspired a lot of people, he was well loved and liked and I shall miss him terribly . Have decided though - am going to name a star for him, so that I can look up at it every night, and say hello and talk to him! Also will be able to point it out to Thomas and tell him that that is his Great Grandad. Anyway, am going to stop there before my computer gets soaked with my tears!

Hello Babyboo - welcome, sorry for my sadness, but as youw ill find, we are all friends and share highs and lows - which is why I love you all soo much.....
Anyway, hope you enjoy our group - we are lovely sorry to hear that your dd is poorly, whereabouts are you? (We are having a meet-up in Stratford soon, which is why I ask)

Anyway, must go - love to all, sorry for my tears I love my Grandad soo much.....

Thanks Cath, don't really know what to do with myself, but I have some beautiful photos of him, and count myself very lucky that I have had him for so long - he has been on the edge of heaven for many years, but kept fighting on, but this time, I think it was just too much.....

He has gone to rest his eyes (and read his eyelids!) in Heaven

dd is getting better now - 9 months old and poor thing has tonsilitus (? prob wrong spelling) with temp over 40 for 3 days but antibiotics kicked in and much better now but gutted at having to give her antibiotics at such a young age (ds never ill so this is all new and worrying)

Evening all

Brownie so sorry to read your sad news, your grandad sounds a wonderful man and your star idea is lovely. Hope you can get lots of strentgh from your family at this difficult time but we're all here if you need us.

Welcome aboard Babyboo1&2, we're a friendly lot, it's been a bit quiet on here lately but I'm sure we'll get back into the swing of chatting again once the older ones go back to school & nursery etc. Hope you don't mind me asking but how old is Babyboo 1? I've got two boys one aged 4.5 and the other is 10mths.
As a group we're from all over the country but I'm not far from you, just the other side of the Dartford Bridge in Bromley and some of us this side meet up a bit more frequently as do some of the north londoners

Right got to goas Ben is back at Nirsery tomorrow so had better get my act together Beks

Hi everyone [waves]

Don't get on much at the weekend, as supposedly spedning quality time with DH (lol!!). That kind of consists of me and him complaining about our various ailments - but I must win everytime, for example:
DH - has a headache
Me - at least you can take nurofen for it and it won't take another 6 months to go
DH - has a bad back
Me - you don't have to carry noo and be growing a baby
DH - is tired
Me - at least you don't have to get up several times in the night needing the loo, have hot flushes, can't get comfy, then have to get up at 6.30 to see to noo
You get the picture...

Noo is at a wonderful age where I find her completely enchanting (inbetween the tantrums). Can't believe only 6 wks until she is 1

Hello!!! . Back from holidays - very hard work, and very pleased to be back!! I won't bore you with the details, suffice to say that I averaged 2.5 hours sleep a night !! Plus 11 delay on flight on way home, dd2 worst tantrum ever on being woken to get off plane, topped off by passport woman telling me I was a disgrace for having a screaming toddler , though entire plane told me they would be putting in a complaint (about woman, not dd!).
So pleased to be back!!
Have just had a glimpse through posts, and very sad to hear your news BROWNIE . As others have said, take strength from your happy memories, though things must seem very hard at the moment.
We are all fine, L very nearly crawling (like waiting at start of a race, bottom in the air)and getting ready for school tommorrow!! Will have a good read when I get back from SW, and post again later
