Londoner - there was another big fire in East London last night so your ash was probably from that? You could see the smoke from the NW one from my house, it went up really high.

Chacha - I always say I'm the nanny to telesales people and they soon hang up. Thats when I bother to answer the phone!

Supposed to be at a pic-nic now but noo is sleeping. Oh well....

Titney was the other newbie that we never heard from again.

ChaCha · 13/07/2006 18:07

Hi girls,

Beks - I didn't reply to your post, I don't know how i missed it, will catch up again later on...

... scan went well, everything in place, little heartbeat detected and am 8 weeks today, EDD 22nd of Feb, 2007 (God willing) Thank you for asking all of you, you're all great!

DH has treated himself to a very large, ugly, smelly looking fish that he is planning to BBQ and I have some marinated chicken from the local deli so off we go into the garden to have our little celebration.

Bye for now x

GarfieldsGirl · 13/07/2006 18:09

Oh ChaCha - fantastic! So pleased for you both. Will you let us all see?

Stay away from that fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The smell of that was the only thing that made me ill when pg.

BEKsmum · 13/07/2006 21:05

Evening awww Chacha how lovely, your new lo sounds like it's cooking perfectly, enjoy your celebration tonight, we want to hear more though when you feel up to it.

Londoner I believe you, I had ash on my car too and wondered where it had come from, I went past the building in Colindale last week, that's a big building to catch fire. Very scary, fire is my major phobia I can't even light a match so I hate seeing things like that.

Unfortunately, it's Tom who's likely to get the cp and he is being rather miserable at present so we'll just have to wait and see. Still at least it will be over and done with.

Nova like the nanny idea, very effective. Hate to admit it but my dh writes the software for those telesales people - am I banished for life now or are you just going to start stoning me

Had an eventful time at the park this afternoon, Ben learnt to fly after scooting into a pothole and going straight over the top of the handle bars, thought I was in for a trip to A&E with a broken arm but thankfully he was ok, have smothered him in Arnica cream so will wait to see what bruises develop including one on head, wrist, elbow, knees and chest.
To make matters worse we saw my cousin with his little boy and he managed to spin Ben off the roundabout on his head. They say it comes in threes so he then went on a different roundabout but got dizzy and started heaving - really glad I went out - remind me to do that again some time soon

Right best go and be sociable as my parents are here, see you tomorrow Beks

Rodeo · 13/07/2006 22:05

Evening
Chacha, how perfect - lovely, lovely, lovely! Have you got a pic?
Oh Beks, poor Calamity Ben!! Hope his bruises aren't too bad. Joe's never really had any bad bruises which is quite strange for a boy of 4, think he must be saving them up! Must get some Arnica cream for our first aid box (well must get first aid box first, instead of having plasters/bite cream etc rattling round in the cutlery drawer)
Londoner, you must be joking, my mash is awful, I never seem to get the lumps out, I can't bear to eat it! Any tips?! And how spooky with all the ash!
Oh my sister's best friend got punched in the face by a bloke last night whilst in town not sure of the circumstances but she had to have 5 stitches in her top lip and one of her top teeth became loose and had to be cemented to the others How awful
And on that happy note (sorry!) I'm off to watch BB. Night! x x x

OP posts:
BEKsmum · 13/07/2006 22:40

Parents have gone!

Rodeo get a potato ricer, looks like a large garlic press, gives perect mash everytime - I can't stand lumps bleugh!!! Come to think of it I can't stand mash

Lucky you with Joe, Ben is one big bruise, I hate the summer, when he wears shorts he looks like he's battered. I'm sure someome will report me to SS one of these days Even his nursery teacher said "you have to laugh at him as he can't sit or stand still and is forever, falling over his own shadow". They came out last week and apologised as he'd nutted the table because he was playing about, then fell over his own feet walking backwards - I despair of him really, I blame it on him being so tall, his head is a long way from his feet and I don't think he realises he's all connected

Right I'm off to bed night night

BEKsmum · 13/07/2006 22:41

sorry meant 'perfect' - doh!

Rodeo · 13/07/2006 22:57

Just put some new pics of Jess on Yahoo, although trying to photograph a 9 month ants in her nappy baby is nearly impossible! The amount of blurred photos I deleted! Apologise for the quality too, must get a camera with millions more pixels....
Beks, aw poor Ben, maybe he's going through a growth spurt? Watched a programme about growth spurts and clumsiness, peaks around 10 as this is when they're growing quickest and it's hard for their brains to keep up with their growing limbs....or something!

OP posts:
Chully · 14/07/2006 06:57

Ok - dumb question - how to I access the Yahoo photos? (I want to see 9-month old Jess, too! )

GarfieldsGirl · 14/07/2006 09:27

Hi!

Gorgeous pics Rodeo.

BEKs - Owen & Ben sound very similar, always covered in bruises, I seem to find a new one every day, knees in trousers...what are they? They've stopped writing little bumps in teh acident book at school now, as he fills a page up very quickly! And half the time desn't even notice he's done it.

Chully - you need an invite, speak to ChaCha, but watch out for her initiation tasks! . Whats your little boys name?

Busy, busy weeknd coming up. Owen has 3 birthday parties, school disco, infant school fete...

Actually, can I just ask, would you find this cheeky? Owens birthday is in Sept, he's the only one athis nursery going to the school he's at, but he has loads of friends that he wants to go to his party. I'm thinking of writing a little note to his friends parents asking for contact details and telling them when the party will be so I can contact them nearer the time when its all arranged etc. How would you guys feel if one of the other mums did this?

Diege · 14/07/2006 09:45

Morning everyone . Trying to catch up with everyone's news after an 'unauthoriused' day off mumsnet!. Was out last night with friend's from work/old colleagues in Liverpool. V. exciting, as friend is starting to think abviout children with her partner (complocated by fact they are both women) so were discussing merits of sperm donation (frozen/fresh;turket basters etc!!)over our pasta. Really excited for her actually as she/her partner will make lovely mums .
Loved the piccies RODEO, Jess us just gorgeous!! Looking forward to BB eviction tonight after missing it last night. Have been trying a bit of product on L's hair (organic stuff, no chemicals) to try and muzz it up a bit and 'soften' its GU Jane-ness, but seems to have made it 'worse'; quite bristly (sp?), but nice to rub under my chin. Talking of hair, Scarlett told me off this morning for having 'fizzy' legs, lol!! Must get thast razor out...
GG: your contact plans re: the party sound perfect. We had a similar situation last year when dd1 started school, but left oiiot too late as of course nursery can't give out persoanl detauils. You sound so organised!!
Welcome CHULLY!!! Hope you will like it here and decide to stay with us!! Yes what did happen to Titney/wrinklytum??
Congrats on scan news CHACHA; yes, you will have to post piccy on yahoo!!
Morning to LONDONER, NOVA, BEKS, BAM, BONB, LILJ, and everyone else!!
Driving lesson at 10 (gulp). Will be v.glad when it's over!!!!!

Diege · 14/07/2006 09:47

Sorry for apalling spelling...am morphing into that irritating fish woman who roams mumsnet...

Chully · 14/07/2006 09:47

GarfieldsGirl, thanks for that. My ds is called Jonty.

It's also good to hear that there is another 7 month old trying to walk! (I was at an antenatal reunion the other day where ds was nearly the youngest by about 7 weeks. All the other babies were lying happily on their backs - like they're meant to - while Jonty was belting around the room looking for things to destroy. Afterwards DH overheard one mother say to another that she'd heard that babies who crawl/walk early aren't very bright - they're compensating by being phyically active! How dare she judge my baby! I have no idea whether he's bright or not, but that's not the point!)

Anyway..
ChaCha, may I have an invite to see your lovely children, please?

BEKsmum · 14/07/2006 09:51

Morning

GG I'd be fine about it personally, I think it's nice to make their circle of friends as wide as possible. Although with the hectic w/end you've got it sounds like he's got plenty of friends anyway. Ben has just got an invite for September from one of his friends who is going to a different 'big' school.

Rodeo, please don't tell me that, by 10 I think Ben's heads will be scraping the ceiling the way he's going. You are right though, as my 10 year old nephew is forever falling over himself and he is very tall and very skinny, Ben seems to be morphing into him a bit more everyday

Right best go and get ready while Thomas sleeps, have a great day Beks

alfiesmum · 14/07/2006 09:53

Hi all!

I cant believe how long it took for us to be connected to talktalk after we moved house! I moved on 29th march!
I have read as many posts as I can over the last couple of days to try and catch up a bit but would be grateful if someone could fill me in on any big news that i have missed!

I have spotted that bob and chacha are both pregnant again MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to you both, Im so pleased for you.

Well we are now living in a static caravan on-site while we build our new house. We are only at the stage of knocking the old bungalow down at the moment so im guessing at another year in the caravan it gets up to 35 degrees in here on warm days!

Oscar is great, been sitting up, rolling etc for a couple of months. Has just started to drag himself around (surprisingly quickly!) over the last couple of weeks but not properly crawling.

Hope everyone is well, will try and post more regularly now im back online (yeh I know I always say that!)

I have not seen any posts from busy or beartime are they still about?

Jess x

tessasmum · 14/07/2006 11:16

Chully - welcome to the nicest (and chattiest) thread on MN
Stupid, stupid woman at reunion Babies learn about their world in all sorts of ways and intelligence comes in all shapes and sizes too. The more physically active ones like ours are learning all sorts of things about their bodies, spatial awareness and gravity
I could rant a lot more but have to go swimming!

Talk more later if I get the chance

Chully · 14/07/2006 11:37

Thanks, Tessasmum!
I'm not saying my son is (or isn't) a bright child - I'm just saying it may be a bit early to judge based on whether or not he's crawling!

(Of course, DH thinks he's a genius...)

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 12:08

oooh gosh..loooooooads to catch up on..

welcome Chully! My ds is the same..walking around furniture/around his cot etc. He tries letting go too so we've had a few sickeningly loud thuds from him banging his head in the middle of the night(argh!)

Ignore those nasty comments..my mil says similar about O and I just shrug..I walked at 9 months and I'm a genius! Some people have no idea..grr..

Chacha..fab fab news, I bet you were thrilled..hope you enjoyed your bbq..so come on, was the baby a twiglett, or more of a wotsit!? lol
For O I often poach a chicken breast or fish and slice it into holdable pieces and give him that with a ricecake and some green beans etc for lunch..I use it over two days, half as finger food, half in a rissotto or pasta for him
Rice cakes with spreadable cheese on go down well too! and chunks of cucumber/ avocado/parboiled carrot..anything quick and easy!
and I must admit I've been conned into buying the individully wrapped organic cheddar chunks..must cost loads more than just buying a block but they are so easy ..hehe!

Londoner..we were in Greenwich park and saw the smoke from that fire..we did wonder..

Nova ..really glad you're back! Hooray for nats teeth..and thanks for your advice against the quinny..I tried my friends the other day and O was really uncomfortable..we have got a new maclaren which is fab and so light, and still use his big '4x4' for long walks out etc..

argh..will be back, I wrote about a 1/4 of what I wanted to and now O is wanting his lunch..

x

ChaCha · 14/07/2006 12:27

Hi girls,

Alfiesmum - Lovely to have you back. You will have to post some pics of the LO soon too. We have missed all your news.

Chully - email me at [email protected] and I will reply with an invite for the group. I am sorry that your DH had to hear that silly comment, IMHO I feel that when comments like that are made is it is just a bit of the old green eyed monster coming out. Shame that the woman couldn't have said something along the lines of 'How lovely, that LO is crawling already...' people!
Have told a few friends now about my PG and have had some lovely phone calls and texts, some asking to take LO so I can have a rest, others just over the moon for me and wanting to help but sadly my supposed closest friend decided to reply with a coldish text and hasn't bothered to contact me at all today - you'd think she could make the effort Anyway I shouldn't speak badly in the absence of another and shouldn't let it get me down as i'm sure this is her aim. Sorry bout that....

BoB - Is good to see you back. Was worried.

Diege - LOL at fish woman, finally 'caught on' ha ha!

Beks - I so LOL at your wanting to flatten friend, unfortunately as I always say, very hard to take someone to account for an action when they are ratsy bummed. and Ben....he has been in the wars!!! Is that a boys thing? Oh gosh..

See you all later x

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 12:32

Chacha - hooray it is lovely to spring the news isn't it!?
but about your friend, are there any reasons she would act like that?
we still haven't told dps parents
but a few months ago his dads girlfriend said to me 'so when are you going to have the next baby you can't handle or indeed afford?' - cow!pfffffttt

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 12:33

damn me posting on here when O has finished his drink and is patiently waiting for his lunch..bad mummy!

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 12:59

back again.
welcome back alfiesmum! glad you hadn't forgotten us..caravan living sounds a nightmare..but how exciting to be doing such a project! hope you can keep positive and think about the end reward! it's my dream...

beks..argh at your night out, i hate it when things get lairy like that..we often 'police' our friends we know can't handle getting drunk by buying them i,.e a gin and tonic, but tell the barman to just put a dribble of gin in..lol
and must say your comment 'come to think of it I hate mash' made me almost choke on my ribena..

what is happening with meeting at yours londoner?are we still welcome?..I am busy up until wednesday as we have builders in and I need to make sure they arent just drinking tea or going off to the pub..lol
Hopefully tex will want to come too.

Diege..snigger at the haircut story..I can't imagine how long we'll have to wait for O's 'first haircut' it's still very short and thin..

argh..hope noone is missed..can't ramble on forever..

in our news..it was dps birthday the other day..we went out and ate loads of amazing food, we went to a place that does sharing platters and ended up getting three between two of us..lol (i was hungry!) then we got icecream and sunbathed in the park..O tried to chase squirrels and birds and looked confused that they could dash off and dissapear so fast..teheee

I'm not feeling sick at all..just sometimes, on buses or looking at the tv or computer screen
Massive cravings for garlicy, buttery asparagus (yum!) and watermelon (good!) and ribena, crisps with hummous and maltesers (not so good!)
I am certain I'm getting the 'butterflies' aswell..thought it was wind at first..hehe.. but ..hmm..anyone who has more than one, do you get it earlier the second time? my belly buton has already popped back out..amazing!

well best stop ranting on here and get out into the sunshine.
hope you are all well
x

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 13:10

babyonboard · 14/07/2006 13:22

Ahem...please don't even notice me coming back AGAIN

But for Rodeo..and anyone else who wants to improve photos.
We have intalled this software from google picasa
and it's fab you can rotate pictures, trim them, make them brighter/darker, and enhance blurry ones so they look better..and its all reeeaally easy.
It searches your computer once you install it for any photo files and you can flick through them and choose which one to edit..great fun!
you can make them black and white or sepia, or add borders etc too.
