Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 02/08/2006 22:30

Haha RODEO!! Yes, I've already told dh that [whispers] we (that's me and you) got them free through mumsnet . Have casually told him that (oh the shame) my 'other' one arrives soon (all part of the great mumsnet giveaway, hee hee!!). Hope this doesn't jarr with your version!! Oh and Monday would be great to meet up - RHB best for you, or Whitby??? I'll have my phone and I have your moby no. I think
Right.BB back on...

novadandypowder · 03/08/2006 09:38

Diege - enough already, my pelvic floor is finding it hard enough

babyonboard · 03/08/2006 09:56

Morning all!

Hope everyone is well..

Babies are such funny creatures! O was just frantically hammering his xylophone and shouting then, as if someone pressed the 'off switch', leaned forward and crashed out on it..face pressed against it, stick still firmly clutched in hand..heeeheee

Busyalexsmummy · 03/08/2006 15:52

Hi everyone!

BoB-awww, how sweet, I remember alex used to crash out like that-so far though not with alfie, hes always wide awake!! bless him!

Diege- anougher sling! cool, I bought a new one too last week a huggababby sling which is so cool
and I can even carry ds1 2.6yrs in it without too much strain!!

Rodeo-Hope your feeling better soon, its nasty when the whole family is ill, because you still have to battle through it and care for everyone else((((hugs)))

Well quick update on Alfie, hes fine, no teeth yet or any signs of teething! Now risen to 25th centile and weighing in at 8 months at 17lb!
He seems quite small though, just long really!
hes sort of crawling, commando style and is starting to push himself up on all fours! weaning is going ok,
pretty much just eating things he can hold like toast, breadsticks, whole bananas, those huge pasta tubes you can get etc etc,
quite glad I held off the weaning now as its been quite hassle free, i also feel much more relaxed about it this time round and
arent bothered that hes still having 4-6 bottles a day!

alex is fine, ditched the nappies for pants 10 days ago hes doing really well but his behaviour is still a bit of a problem at times,
hope this gets better with starting nursery as I think its mainly due to boredom and not being able to use his brain!

Driving lessons are going well, instructor has advised putting in for test for about end sept-beg oct-ahhhhhhhhhh thats not that long!!! yikes!
I cant wait though as things are getting evermore difficult without a car!

I start my access course on 18th September(and the children start nursery 3 days a week), cant wait, Ive been busy arranging work placements and writing my personal statement ready to send off with my degree application in oct/nov time

OH! and Ive had the implant fitted a few weeks ago so 100% no more children for me for 3 yrs at least!

am going to make the effort to try and come on and catch up a bit more regulary now all my college stuff is done and my uni stuff almost completed, its just been mad, like my health visitor said when she did my edinburough score
juggling too many balls, true but I cant afford to drop any of them at the moment!!

Love L x

GarfieldsGirl · 03/08/2006 16:28

Hiya BAM, great news all round for you, good on you.

Glad you're all better Rodeo, not any fun at all I'm sure.

Diege - you crack me up, chuckling away I was reading your posts.

ChaCha - Sending wishes your way that you get some rest from the 'ickiness' soon. Is the yuckyness still staying at bay for you Nova?

BEKs - very at your loft extension. Ours won't be for a few years yet.

bob - if only they did have an on/off switch!

I have a new toy. Tesco have a Kodak EasyShare camera and dock for only £120, so I'm printing loads of pics!

It was nice seeing the ILs, was one BILs birthday while we were up, so FIL had the boys and we had a good night. They're always quite loud as you can imagine with such a large family! We braved Chester Zoo in the rain on Monday, loads of babies, the chimps were sooo funny! Then teh Blue Reef at Cheshire Oaks, Sean loved the fish and kept trying to catch them as they swam past! I ran out of clothes! Only took a couple of 'cold' clothes up with me, Oops, I should know by now what the weather's like up there. Then, on the way home the sky got brighter, the air got warmer the further south we went, and as we crossed the Hampshire border, the sun came out!!!!

Speak later, GG xx

novadandypowder · 03/08/2006 16:51

Thanks for asking GG, the sickness hit me like a rock yesterday and I've been really struggling to cope today. Have been in tears for most of the morning but thankfully noo had an hour and a half nap at lunchtime and I feel much better.

Just interviewed a great nanny and if her references check out we'll hire her starting in a couple of weeks. Only potential prob is that she doesn't like water/swimming so I want her to come to a class on tuesday and see what I do with noo. It may be a case of me taking her in the pool and the nanny doing all the changing etc, oh if I do that then I can swim afterwards, hmm maybe it's not so bad after all...

Beksmum · 03/08/2006 22:22

Evening all

BAM good to see you, glad everything is falling in to palce for you, you sound like you're definitely living up to your name. Alfie sounds adorable, hope you'll get a chance to post some more pics soon. A big well done to Alex for getting into pants, what a clever boy, he must be really proud of himself. The nursery will definitely help him out if he's bored, but I hate to say don't expect it to wear him out - Ben comes home full of beans. I'm sure they give him blue smarties just before he comes home

Nova rats at the sickness, lets hope it's just a blip today. How's it going with dh away? Don't forget to shout if you need any help or company as I'm more mobile now it's the summer holidays. The nanny sounds great, hope she checks out ok, what did Nat think of her?

Bob lol at O, Thomas falls asleep mid yell when he's tired My dh had to catch him the other night as we were eating our dinner and he was sitting playing onthe floor and it was just like his batteries ran out as he nodded forwards then pitched backwards sound asleep

GG forget being jealous, I called the council today and it turns out we haven't got all our permissions and aren't scheduleded to get them until 29th September . Needless to say I was on to the builder like a shot as he's supposed to be dealing with all this - strangely enough he hasn't called me back today grrr Thinking nice calm thoughts and breathing deeply in through the nose out through the mouth

Right off to watch House, doubt I'll get on tomorrow as off to Horton Farm for the day with friends so have a great weekend all. Beks

Rodeo · 04/08/2006 12:59

Hi all
It's very quiet today, everyone busy with the summer hols or being pg
Hope the sickiness doen't last long Nova (not as long as last time) Well done finding a nanny, will be nice to have a few hours to yourself, esp when ill. I always find a few hours (or days!) make you appreciate the LO so much more.
Beks have a lovely time at the farm today Bloody builders though, they're all the same!
BAM, make sure you get a few hours to yourself too, we don't want you burning yourself out! Good luck with Uni
Diege LOL at the fibs we tell I tell similar ones all the time (Oh no this isn't new/Louise gave it to me/I'm borrowing it off my sister etc) Do you think they believe us or turn a blind eye?! Probably the latter for an easy life!
Bob, hope you're ok, are you going to the Big Green Gathering this weekend? You may already be there. Hope you are and have a lovely time
Just spoke to a friend who was at the BBQ we were at on Sat night and it turns out most of us have been throwing up this week We must have all caught the same thing, although I doubt it was food poisoning as Jess had it first and she didn't eat any meat (surprisingly!) All gone now though
Speak later!

OP posts:
babyonboard · 04/08/2006 17:41

Rodeo - we gave our tickets to friends after recent events..but I'm now regretting it, as it would have been fab escapism....ah well..
we are off to london zoo tomorrow and brighton on sunday for the sand sculptures exhibition....

hope you're all well and having fun (despite crappy weather)

xx

browniechick · 04/08/2006 18:57

Hey All, gosh you sound v busy BAM - make sure you make some time for you!
Diege - ooh you tinker you! those little fibs! but, they are all in the name of the shopaholic cause! so are only truth stretches

Had some bad news today - my Grandad had a fall at his nursing home last night, and has broken his hip he is now in hospital, and they are hopefully operating today. Trouble is, he has so many things wrong with him (although you wouldn't know it to hear him talk, I'm alright love, how are you - that sort of thing) that it could be a tricky operation. Am trying not to think about it too much, cos it's upsetting (I know you are going through the same Rodeo - how's your Nan now?), but it is a worry all the same. - Lots of positive vibes please Thanks...

Anyway, Thomas is doing fine, not much else to report.

Hope all those off on hols have a nice time, Beks, you sound very organised and impressive re craft school!

Would also be extremely about builders - men you see, load of incompetent @@*!!!!! people!!!!!! Suppose they're not all that bad!

Anyway, off to watch a bit of telly and chill out whilst tea cooks - speak later

Brownie

Brownie - LOL 'all in the name of the shopaholic cause' Exactly! Thinking of you & your grandad, poor man Grandparents eh? OP posts:
Diege · 05/08/2006 11:08

Morning! Will be leaving shortly, having had the customery packing 'row' re: who does what (me everything)!! Hopefully see you on the MOnday Rodeo, lol at Jess and the Next Directory; she must be one strong baby to even attempt to explore that!! She is getting the right idea though .
Right, best do, dds are at each others' throats!!
See you next week!

Rodeo · 05/08/2006 21:24

Evening,
My gran died this afternoon Quite peacefully I think though. Not really sunk in yet.....and after what I posted this morning! My mum's in Portugal so she feels awful, not sure if she's going to try and get back, but grandad's being looked after by 2 of my aunts.
Attempting to cheer myself up by scoffing large quatities of Lime Doritos and watching Grumpy Old Holidays. Thinking of watching Lake Placid too later - it's not particularly gruesome is it? Don't want it tipping me over the edge....
On a lighter note, I've added a video clip on our Yahoo group of Jessie laughing I can't actually watch the clip for some technical reason I don't understand but I can hear it. So I apologise if you can't see it but it is quite funny even if you can't, but you'll need to turn the volume up!
Bye for now x x x

Hi all,
Back from n/e looking after mil and visiting fil in hdu
Rodeo so sorry about your gran, at least it was peacefull. My nana died aged 84 in march and was in itu and messed around a lot before she went and i wished for her to go peacefully so much. I miss her still very much, but as she used to say she had had a good long life, great grandchildren and lots of laughs we are off to sprinkle her ashes in disney land next summer which is what she wanted.Somewhere she liked been, fun and warm Anyway sending you big hugs
Diege hope whitby is good, we must arrange a meet up soon
I hope everyone else is well i have not been able to read all the posts too many!!
twinkle & Josh

Chully · 06/08/2006 21:34

Rodeo, I'm so sorry to hear about your Gran - it must have been a real shock after she seemed to be improving! Do you know when the funeral is?

Diege, hope Whitby is good!

And to the folk with 'morning sickness' (yeah, right - like it doesn't last all day!) I hope it wears off soon.

Bob - how are you doing?

Jonty has discovered water in a big way, and has been finding it wildly funny trying to catch a small stream of water that is dropping towards him (like off a sponge). I'm sure I read somewhere that they suddenly get afraid of water at some point? Clearly it's not at 8 months, anyhow!

Hi to everyone!

Beksmum · 07/08/2006 09:32

Morning girls

Rodeo so sorry to hear about your gran, glad it was peaceful for her in the end. Sending comfort hugs to you and your family.

Diege hope you are having a good time in Whitby, hope the weather holds for you, it's very miserable here this morning.

Chully lol at Jonty, Thomas absolutely loves the bath and splashes like a lunatic and when they both splash together I've had it, as my bathroom is the size of a postage stamp so I end up getting soaked

Twinkle good to see you back, what's the prognosie for your fil now?

I know we're not allowed to mentionit but how funny is that message on the bottom of the thread Had a good day at the farm on Friday, although my friends little boy was a bit of a handful to say the least.

Good news re the builders, the architect has taken responsibility for the delay and the builder is happy to start work anyway as we have legal consent the hold upis purely with a minor point of the structure, so chaos will reign here from next week - arrggghhh.

Right got to go whingey baby on the floor, speak to youall soon. Hope everyone is surviving the summer holidays. Beks

twinkle1 · 07/08/2006 09:37

Sadly Prognois for FIL is he will not recover and will be paraplegic for life.So sad
twinkle

ChaCha · 07/08/2006 12:59

Hello girls - just catching up, I have no broadband as we are in the process of changing from one provider to another so will try and catch all your news via a very slow dial up when i can.

Rodeo, I'm very sorry to hear about your gran, our condolences to you and your family. Thinking of you

Londoner - Didn't see any posts from you when catching up, are you still in Brighton I wonder? Hope all is ok.

LO is doing fine, seems to change all the time. I had my 12 week scan on Saturday and all is well 'active singleton' the notes said and it certainly was. Still very sick here and quite emotional most of the time but as to be expected, it seems my PGs are just meant to be this way..onwards and upwards can't complain!

Love to all x

LaylaandSethsmum · 07/08/2006 13:20

Hi girls!!!

Trying to catch up but don't think i can!
Rodeo so sorry to hear about your gran. Glad for her that she died peacefully though. If you do still want to meet up let me know ut I guess you'll be pretty busy.xx

Nova can sympathise with the sickness sounds like how I was with Layla fingers crossed it will pass soon.

ChaCha glad all went well with your scan!! Are you going to find out the sex this time? YOu did with Z didn't you?

Still on WW diet. Have lost 12.5 pounds in 4 weeks so not too bad , just another 3 stone to go then!!

Hi to everyone else xxx

browniechick · 07/08/2006 13:40

Oh Rodeo am so hugely feeling for you and your family at this sad time. Love and thoughts to you all.
Grandad is still in hospital, fingers crossed he makes a reasonable recovery and is back in the home soon. It is so sad, sometimes life is just really poo!

Will try and catch up later - Thomas is whinging in his cot, and here was me hoping he'd have a nap!

xx

Beksmum · 07/08/2006 20:14

Evening all

Blimey Twinkle that's awful, and this was from a simple fall wasn't it? You and your family have really been through it this year haven't you. I hope '07 is going to be kinder to you and yours.

Brownie sorry to hear about your grandad too, hope he is on the mend and that they are keeping him as comfortable as possible.

Chacha good to see you, glad to hear your scan went well, lol at active singleton, sounds like a dating agency advert Which of these carriers am I supposed to besending back to you, I can't remember which one you liked?

If anyone is interested Tex, Bob, Londoner and I are meeting up on Wednesday if anyone fancies it.

So how's the 6 weeks holidays treating everyone, we're surviving admirably at the moment, have a very busy week this week then nothing planned for next, must sort that out as builders start work and Ben drives me crazy when he's bored - any suggestions welcome.

Took them both to the HV clinic this morning Thomas weighs 25lb 30z but will slim down when he starts crawling, he's commandoing around now so it won't be long and Ben completely threw the HV as I got him weighed too he was 3st 5lb but when she looked for him she was expecting to see a little boy not one who was past her waist in height, we measured him and he is 113cm or 3ft 8.5 inches in old money and is on the 98th centile She just couldn't get over how tall he is but he is so painfully skinny you could cut cheese with his shoulder blades, but they reckon his weight is ok.

Right wish me luck we're braving no night nappies with Ben from tonight. He didn't come out of nappies till late so I'm not bothered about the night ones, I've just forced myself into it by forgetting to buy some today and we've run out, so no time like the present to get rid of them!

Hope you're all having a relaxing evening Beks

GarfieldsGirl · 07/08/2006 21:53

Hi all

Rodeo - sorry to hear about your gran. Sending thoughts your way.

BEKs - bugger, am laying flooring & putting up fences on Weds else I'd have bombed it up to see you guys! Good news about your builders. And good luck with night time tonight.

Sean has his 9mth check tomorrow. I think the only thing will be his 'squint', but Owen grew out of his by 18mths so should be fine.

Enthusia · 07/08/2006 22:08

Sorry to crash again!!!!! Found I wasn't pg last time but I am now found out today!!! Will only be about 4 weeks though so early days.

Congrats to Nova and ChaCha too (ChaCha, I did get ur email, thank you, but have been manic here with job and moving etc, will email you back soon, promise )

BoB, sorry to hear your news, was thinking of you!

Sorry haven't kept up properly again, I seem to have no time with my job and moving house etc, must try harder maybe that should be my half year resolution!

Sam is great, nearly crawling and lifting himself up and we now have 6 teeth with nos 7 and 8 on their way. He is a real cheeky chappy. Still sleeps well at night but not in day and loves his food.

Hope to catch up properly soon.

Enthusia and Sam
