Here's the new place to chat about all our wonderful babies, while they still are babies.

Hi all, not checked in for a while, hope things are well with you all - really should try and read the end of the old thread.

Things here are going well, we finally feel settled in Dumfries - not sure if I mentioned it before but we're now here for the year due to a job re-shuffle. We've found a couple of nice mum and tots groups, and have a couple of friends from them that we've spent time with out with the groups. Dd is now 7 and half months old, we started weaning what feels like an age ago now and it's gone so much easier than I thought - dd takes after her dad, loves her food and hasn't yet found anything she dislikes. We had a bit of a rough few days last week on a feeding front when she caught a yuky d&v bug which has been doing the rounds here but we just went back to soley bf for a few days and then she took up where she'd let off with the solids. Dd is desparatley trying to crawl, she can push herself backwards when on her tummy and can roll for Britain but just can't yet co-ordinate front and back ends to get moving - she gets so frustrated and annoyed, doesn't appreciate it when we giggle as she wiggles her wee bum in the air whilst her shoulders and head are still flat to the floor. She loves being held up on her feet and still enjoys the door bouncer - she feels really steady when she's standing and is begining to pull herself up when you reach to pick her up.

Not sure if we're crazy or not but we've been talking about number 2 and started making vague plans (not that there's too much predicting these things). We'd like a reasonably close gap between them (around 18 months)and it's scarey to think that it's not too long now before we'd maybe start trying.

Anyway, better head as need to wake dd up from her nap shortly - still catching up after being ill so sleeping a lot just now, take care x

oh well i survived my first day just!! i was very glad that dh didnt have to go away to work so he was at home with dd on my first day. especially as she was up most of the night it must be her teeth though still no sign the only thing that makes me think there close is her gums are rough does that make sense?
pancipants know what you mean my dd is the 30th august.
nice to hear for you twiga glad your dd feeling better.
my dd not that interested in standing even when in her bouncer but i think its cause she has a thing about feet, she will bend anywhere so she cant see your feet and does the same with hers so if she does stand her head is near her knees trying to see her feet - is that weird?
azure hope you get things sorted with work, just dont turn up on the 4th day and see what they come up with

Twiga, ds1 really doesn't like it when we laugh at him either, ds2 thinks everything is such a good laugh he doesn't care if we laugh at him. Glad that you have settled in well and are making friends, it must have been a pretty daunting prospect.

DS2 is still so jolly and happy, he just continues to thrive. He has such a little character now, he's very determined litle chap and has started pulling himself up on things, he seems to be very keen to get up on two feet like the rest of us.

Good and bad news here, we can buy the business without a new lease, so it should all go through , but my nanny has MRSA I'm glad we've had some good news as I don't think we can take anymore bad news

Ds is very determined too, now spends ages examining things.

ds is starting to get fed up with eating off a spoon......if i put huge chunks of cheese or banana on his high chair tray he's quite happy to feed himself. but i just don't know what else to feed him other than toast. he can't use his fingers very well....so they have to be big pieces as he sort of holds them in his fist and eats the bits he can get to. i'm just paranoid about what to try him on as i have a fear of him choking. he suck the florets off the top of steamed broccoli but won't entertain carrots!!
he now rolls straight over onto his belly as soon as his nappy is off....and giggles madly when i try to get a clean one on him. he's still too lazy to crawl.....just rocks back and forth on hands and knees. he's 'talking' non stop during the day and sings to himself a lot too.

Josey> lets hope a tooth puts in an appearance soon. i found i would feel something rough/sharp in ds gum one day and the next it would be gone again. he seems to be grumpiest a couple of days before it actually comes through.....but i remember the first one took ages!!

well i should go......i am so tired and even though i'm lucky enough to have a good sleeper i never seem to feel refreshed. i can't believe so many of us August mums are thinking of the next baby already. NOT A CHANCE of it happening again in this household so soon.........

I just had a look at the old ones, as I said before I didn't find MN till ds was 7 wks old and I'm really sorry I missed on all those ante-natal chats, would have been fun. Anyway I found the stats thread so albeit 8 months late I thought I'd add my little boy's birth details. You know what it's like when it's your first, sooo proud!
Josey, did you have a good experience of Raigmore? I had a wonderful lot of mws. Eleanor and Sarah for the birth and Eilidh for my stitches and bf help, all fantastic.

you girls have started something now........i told dp about those of you thinking of another so soon and i got the distinct impression he's not against the idea! not straight away but sooner rather than later.
i do understand where he's coming from, as there are 4 years between my sister and i and 5 years between dp and his sister and neither of us have particularly close relationships with our siblings. we'd both like to avoid that with our own little ones. i just have reservations about having another one.....some of which are totally silly.

Hi folks, thought I'd better pop in to the new thread.

Bramblina, I had ds at the Belford (FW) but was transferred to Raigmore with a retained placenta - so I was in and out of there in the space of 45 mins! (nice breakfast though ). It's down on my notes as a major complication so I am really hoping that the consultant won't veto me having the next one at the Belford (whenever that may be - not pg yet).

Ds is changing his sleep patterns atm and I seem to be up with him at 6am now - goodbye decent nights' sleep! Plus he is feeding at night again - sigh - I lack the willpower to put a stop to it yet again. He takes a huge feed during the night but doesn't feed so well during the day - he is so easily distracted! So I think he needs to make up for it at night just now.

He said "mamama" the other day - naturally it was just noise but I took great delight in teasing dh about it as he was sure ds would say "dada" first - hehhehe

Nice new thread! Miaou - my DS is waking at 5:40 most mornings. The last two mornings though I have managed to convince him to go back to sleep about 6:30 for an hour! He's started feeding more the last two days too, but still only once in the night at the most.

BTW, it just occured to me that some of you might be on the babyworld August AN club? If you are, go and let me know who you are as I have the same username over there!

Huge congratulations Tigerlion! TTC hadn't even occurred to me until reading all this. We always said we'd go for about 2 years age gap but that would mean conception in about 6 months - scary! Think we're going to try to get a holiday to Spain in next Easter and then start thinking about it.
Been visiting family and friends over Easter as DH is a teacher so had the time off. Lovely to be able to show off DS's latest tricks to everyone - really seems to have the idea of moving forward now (although I wouldn't call it crawling exactly!) and is cutting top 2 teeth. He's babbling away with 'Dadidadi' and 'blablabla' and constantly wants to be on his feet. Just mastered the art of holding on to the chair but can't stand himself up or move once he's there!
Whilst visiting friends in Birmingham we all managed to catch theD&V bug like Twiga's LO. So scary! DS was vomiting constantly at 2am so we spent a few hours with the drunks at Dudley A&E (I guess close to where you gave birth Kate100?) We're finally all recovering now - DS just getting back into sleeping and eating routine.
Sorry to all who I haven't commented on but I am thinking of you.x

woohoo!!! as i type my dp and his boss(who has given up his evening free of charge)are downstairs laying my kitchen floor. very soon the shell that is going to be my kitchen will soon start looking like a proper room!

Kipper22, I gave birth at that hospital, dreadful isn't it. Brand new hospital and everything is rubbish, I don't know anyone who is happy with the care they received there, especially my Nanny.... My DS2 has had ice cream too this week, also shared with his daddy

Jessajam, my DH's birthday is the 11th, he's 30 this year and he's not looking forward to it

Josey, glad that the first day wasn't so bad for you, if I remember it gets easier after the first day.

Had ds2 weighed today and he weighs 24lb 4oz, no wonder I can't carry him anywhere! He's also started to pull himself up on things, but can them only move in one direction, from left to right, he can't go the other way, bless him.

24lb K100?! DS was nearly 20 before the d&v - probably a little less now. the nurses were great at the hospital but the doctor was, um, interesting. Kept talking to DS as if he was a stupid man ("Does your tummy hurt if I do this?" "Is it okay if I listen to your back?) and seemed surprised that he just grinned at her and drooled a little! The people watching was the best part - like a cross between Crimewatch and Shameless!

brambalina i had a good time at raigmore this time, my labour suite midwives were a bit bonkers but were very nice to me when i mentioned that a friend of mine works with them Irene and Efie where there names, I cant remember the ward mWs names though were all lovely and what a lovely name.

Me you and Maiou should try for an Inverness gathering some time as we are all not to far and im sure visit Inverness from time to time.

Kate sorry about your nanny thats awful, but delighted for you re the business.

still no news on my best friend, she was started on Monday and they managed to break waters at lunch time today but still no firm labour (that we know of)she may be cs in the morning.

glad this week is over with and its a long weekend

my friend had her baby 3 weeks early and he was 8lb6oz!!! we are all still in shock haha, they are both fine looking forward to seeing them tomorrow im getting broody at the though!!!maybe i should go

OOOh really tired but wantd to say hi - there have been too many interesting messages! Glad people are enjoying their babas. DS gave me a love bite on my chin he was so pleased to see me after work on monday - really sweet but think I am going to have to start saying NO, he is quite strong and pulls the teeny weeney hairs on my hairline while gumming my face ouch!

Panicpants - I was talking to DH re your baby on floor thread and he'd like to know if you fancy doing a wife swap?! He thinks I'm a terrible housewife but I told him you'd never put up with his messy ways any more than I do! anyway, I'm a mum not a housewife!
Have the in-laws coming for the weekend so just trying to make the house sparkle! maybe I'll keep it up after thay leave...

Hi all, been a lovely day here, weather was great so we took dd to a local wildlife park - her first. She really enjoyed herself, we could tell which animals caught her attention as she bounced madly in her buggy - otters and meercats got the best reaction! Dh bought her a cuddly monkey in the shop and by the time we got home she was fast asleep in the car seat cuddling him - so cute! The monkey spent the rest of the day glued to her, she's really taken with him.

My other exciting news (well it's exciting for us anyway) is that we've finally pulled dd's bedtime back to around 7/7.15pm, she has been going to bed at 8pm ish but the last few days has been looking tired earlier so last night we chance putting her down earlier and she slept right through to just before 7am - we were woried about waking time becoming some anti-social time like 5am - went down at the same time no bother again tonight. The extra hour to ourselves makes all the difference. I think all the extra activity is wearing her out - she's sooo close to craweling, last couple of days has managed onto her hands and knees but just bounces or goes backwards.
