lol kipper22, I'm only like that where it concerns ds, i'm clean, but not particulary tidy!

Anyway, ds has come on in leaps and bounds this week, at the beginning he managed to roll from his back onto his front for the first time, now of course he's doing it non stop. A real pain at bed and nap times. Today when I put him down to sleep he rolled onto his front, so I went back and put him on his back, and by the time i'd got to the door he was on his tummy again. Repeat x3!! In end I left him and will check on him in a minute and put onto his back.

He can commando crawl, and once or twice today he's managed to get up on all fours, but isn't managing to pull himself up onto the furniture yet.

Kate100 24lb 4oz!!!!!! Wow, ds is only 17lb 5oz!

LOL Kipper lucky it was on my chin Grin when I showed my mummy friend she said her ds had given her a little lovebite on her neck and her dp had been suspicious!

Aww pancipants commando crawling how cute Grin people are begining to ask me 'how ds is on the floor', luckily he managed to spin around in a circle the other day which imo is pretty close to crawling.

Twiga that is good about your dds sleep - it is nice to have a longer evening. On the sleep topic - Suzi how do you decide which feed to bf, sometimes I regret ditching DSs dummy. I am putting off sorting out the nightfeeding on the grounds of me being back at work but we will have to tackle it soon I guess.

Hi everyone, I've only been away for a couple of days and there's so much to catch up on!
QR, yes, ds is pronounced Jackson. We have a surname ending "ey" so needed a solid name. I was at college with a boy who spelled it that way too, aand we know one man called Jackson who is really nice so it had good associations for us. It can't be shortened either which we like, so stays put, and he has no middle name (I am known by mine and dh never uses his so it would only add to the confusion) but of course the lo's in for a lifetime of having to spell his name, poor soul.
Kate, hope you mean unusual good, not unusual bad! LOL!
Kipper, I mentioned baby no2 to dh last week, he said yeah, about 2 years, I reminded him of the planning involved, he said, well, yeah, about 2 years! So I have taken it upon myself to book a holiday for next June, ( ds will be 2 in the Aug so we'd need to pay more for a seat on the planeShock and the July would be very hot) and have my coil removed! If I conceive straight away I'll prob be due in the spring- perfect! And we'll have just had our 2nd holiday in a year so that should keep me going for a while Grin!
Kate, I thought 20lb was heavy! I have noticed a big difference in him these last two weeks, appetite and weight-wise! It's relative!
Josey, a meet up sounds good, I go to Inverness about once a month and it would be good to meet some new faces.
The lo cut his fourth tooth on Thursday, and it's been a bad one, he was up till 9pm last night and Thurs, cried everytime I went to put him down, even for his naps, and he was just quite unhappy in general yesterday. We had a good giggle this afternoon though, and I realised I missed his laugh as he had been so sad Sad -it was quite obvious.
Had a very annoying couple of days of inlaws too so with that and the teething I'll be glad when tomorrow comes. Or next Saturday as dh is backGrin! He only left thismorning...Sad
Have a good rest-of-weekend!

oh have had a lovely weekend the weather is has been great, saw my friends baby and my next door neighbours, awwwww they are lovely, DD did not like me holding another baby though the lip was well and truely out Shock
we went to the beach today and she loved the looking at the waves her fav was digging her toes in the sand though - still have no teeth, you can see all her teeth her mouth is just white lumps covered with a thin layer of gum, im starting to think i will wake one morning and she will just be grinning with a full set.
bramblina the name is lovely I had thought of it if i had a boy as my maiden name is jackson but its also my ds's sirname so would be a bit confusing love the spelling though and like you say it cant be shortned even to jack
oo pookey ouch to the chin loads of make up just now then haha, dd is at the hair thing as well and she giggles even more when she sees the tears appear in you eye, little vilan!!
no crawling though she lies on back and pushes up on her feet and shoves back or to the side so can get round the room that way!! she likes to be differentGrin

DS2 seems to have got the idea of finger food - he swiped my biscuit this afternoon and proceeded to eat it (in a drooly mess). We've had great success sleep-wise. We eliminated the night-time bottle (after gradually diluting it) and whilst DS2 is still stirring a few times in the night, it only takes a quick pat (or we leave him if only grumbling) before he settles back to sleep. Other than that our nanny started on Friday and I'm back to work Thursday (boo hoo). Tomorrow is going to be a day of shopping for me, particularly as I'm still at least one size larger than my work clothes.

Glad you both had a lovely long weekend. Ds has been rolling all over the place, and today has spent all day with his tongue sticking out.

Anyone got any ideas of containing their lo's out side in the garden? We've got a thin but very long garden, so if I'm outside I want ds to be with me, but don't want him crawling all over the grass due to all the pigeon poo. Something like a playpen or travel cot thing, that I can put him in, he can see me and be in the shade and be able to play safely.

Any ideas?

oh ive had such a bad day, i feel such a bad mum, dd was on my bed today and she rolled to quickly for me to catch and off she went, she seems to be ok though she got a frighted and one minute would be smiling the next would cry again, later on she tried to crawl then nose dived and bumped her face on the ground, she still wont go to sleep just now!!
azure good news you have a nanny but i share your boo hoos with being back at work. though i will only be doing 16 hours this week so think i will be ok.
pancipants a travel cot would prob be the best though my dd is more than happy just to sit watching from her pram

It's their 9 month mark! [smil]
A friend at massage was raving about the fab playpen she bought (new) from ebay- £20 cost and £20 postage from Germany, so impressed she's going to buy another one for her mum's house. I'll get the details if you like. We have a travel cot so think we'll just use that.
While we're on the subject of ideas- what are your lo's best toys just now? Ds is among the older of the group, he'll be 9m on Thurs, but I think he's getting bored of his toys, most of them just go in his mouth, and I can't find anything that interacts with him just a little to keep him amused, most things are far too advanced...any ideas?
Sorry about your rolling episode Josey. Ds was sitting on our bed yesterday, fell backwards, I left him as he was fine (hates being on front so will not roll) but within 2 minutes he had pushed himself so far back his head was hanging upside down off the edge of the bed! He wasn't really impressed.Blush
Lo wasn't keen on going for his nap this afternoon, and ended up falling asleep in my arms- he's such a wriggler I think he's only ever done that twice. I worry easily I've started an awful new habit as he's really good at going to bed awake, but that 4th tooth hasn't got past the gum yet, which has a small line of blood on it, I hope that's the problem anyway, and I'm not rocking him forever...
Can't sympathise with you on the work front girls, I'm just preparing my resignation letter for July. Woohoo! Though I can imagine what it's like.
A friend told me today they're ttc, I'm so excited for her. Remembering how we felt when ttc our ds, sooo amazing.

Glad to hear about the nice weekends - very jealous of your sun though Josey! We had a nice time - DH's parents were here - they live in Devon & we're in Kent so they don't get to see DS that often. Needless to say he was spoilt rotton! I know it's silly but I just feel so proud of him when he does his latest tricks for new people! Current one is wanting to be on his feet all the time - just stands holding a leg or the chair but hasn't quite got the idea of pulling himself up or moving yet.

Josey - YOU ARE NOT A BAD MUM!!! DS fell off the bed a few times when he was first learning to roll - I felt so guilty every time that I hadn't learned my lesson from the last time. Better now that he can commando crawl around the bedroom while I'm getting ready.

Panicpants - DS has a walker type thing (\link{http://www.mothercare.com/invt/lz3328\one of these}) which I've been using in the garden. He does get bored after a while so I might try his travel cot. Very nervous to put him on the ground as we only have a patio and no soft grass.

Azure - Hope work goes well. I'm with Bramblina I'm afraid - must write that letter! Let us know how you get on.

Bramblina - LOL at the upside down head - if he's not standing DS prefers to be hanging upside down. May be it's to do with the number of times he bumped his head falling off the bed?! Blush DS woke in the middle of the night last night and, like you, I'm really worried I'm spoiling him by cuddling him back to sleep. Managed to go off on his own for a nap today though so fingers crossed!

Yes we do have a walker Kipper, but also have a sloping patio - still would probably make for some good entertainment [looks over shoulder for social services...]

Ds, since learning to roll onto his front - only this week, is now turning into a nightmare to put down to sleep at night. He immediately rolls onto tummy, no matter how many times he's put onto his back, last night we left him to it in the end, and went back up an hour later to find him fast alseep on his tummy. So we put him on his back then.

Anyone else have this problem?

Report
queenrollo · 02/05/2006 10:52

Panicpants....ds sleeps on his tummy most nights now....we kept turning him onto his back and it woke him so we just left him to it. he actually has been sleeping much better since he can position himself.

DS rolls onto tummy. I wouldn't worry too much but it wakes him up and, for some reason, he seems to forget how to roll back again in the middle of the night!

oh oh oh oh oh! sorry to keep bothering you all today but I am so excited!!! After trying for nearly 2 months, finally convinced DS to drink his afternoon ff from a cup today! I was sooo proud of him and I think the huge grin on his face meant he was pretty pleased with himself too! just had to share this with someone! Grin

Well done kipper! And ds too.

Ds has his water from a cup, but i've yet to try milk. I love it when he cuddles up to me when I give him his bottle, and don't want ot stop doing that yet.

Went to elc, and they'd sold out of ppools. Sad

kipper22 · 02/05/2006 16:28

oh no - have you tried ebay perhaps?
still love the bottle cuddles, just wanted to be able to give him 1 feed a day without worrying that I need to rush off and brush his teeth immediately!

Report
PanicPants · 02/05/2006 18:24

Oh now you've worried me, do you brush his teeth after every bottle/meal? I do ds in the morning which IS after his bottle (but thats just coincedence) and at night again, after his last bottle but coincedence.

Never thought about after his bottle in the afternoon Blush

Report
kipper22 · 03/05/2006 09:05

Oh no! Didn't mean to worry you! I was feeling guilty after choosing to bottle-feed as I had a very unsupportive friend - tried to find out the ways in which it was 'harming' ds (her words) and the teeth thing was one that came up. Because of this I had a nagging feeling of guilt after each bottle but that doesn't mean I actually did anything about it! Like you, we brush after morning and evening bottles.

Oh dear, I meant unusual in a good way Blush, sorry Bramblina. I'm a teacher and I always come across unusual names, but your ds's name was a new one on me. I really like it 'though.

Hope work goes OK Azure and that the nanny works out OK.

We are all poorly here, me and both ds's have colds, but ds2 has started to cough and have trouble catching hos breath, so we are off to the GP this sfternoon. Poor thing he's never been ill before abd he's really miserable with it, such a change from my sunny little boy. He and I are both shattered as well as neither of us have been sleeping very well, him because he keeps coughing and crying and is covered in snot, and me because he's crying and coughing and I keep having to blow my nose, lovely.

Less then 3 weeks to ds2's christening, I really must start to do something about it. I've ordered a cake and invited some people and that's about it. Maybe I will do some planning this week.

Lol Kate, IKWYM, dh's cousin is a teacher and has 3 children with very plain names, association is terrible, isn't it? I hope we've gone different but not too different...Hope you get over your colds soon, and oh lovely a christening, we went to our first 2 weeks ago it was very nice.
Today was the 2nd day he wouldn't go for his nap..posted on here as I was quite stressed. Dh is away, annoyed with MIL so feeling a bit alone just now. Anyway someone said get him checked for an ear infection so will do that. He woke with wind after he'd gone to bed tonight and I put him back wide awake but he fell off nicely so my confidence is slowly restoring...then I got back in to my Sanctuary bath ooooohGrin

Hey all! This morning dd clapped her hands for the first time - hurray! She's been concentrating hard on watching us doing this for the last wee while and this morning when we lifted her into our bed she sat bouncing then just clapped away like been doing it for ever. It's very funny if she gets excited as she misses and ends up passing one hand under the other! Over the last couple of days she's started shaking her head as well, doesn't mean "no" yet but I'm sure she'll make the connection soon.

Azure, how was your first day back? Hope it went well Smile.

pookey - DSs night feeding has pretty much sorted itself out. He's now not feeding until 5am when he wants to get up! No answers... it just happened! I bet I regret writing this...

Bramblina - DS is 9 months on Sat and loves hardbacked books and bath books. he opens the pages and babbles!

Twiga - we're still waiting on DS to clap his hands much to my mums disappointment. She is trying to teach him most days! He does slap his hands on the floor and I think we may have got a wave today although it would have to be repeated to know for sure!

Is my DS the only one that hasn't rolled back to front yet? he's been rocking on all fours for 6 wks now too and is getting no further with crawling. He's so frustrated with it now he's refusing to go on his tummy, even though he pulls himself round onto it when sitting a lot. He loves standing holding onto things and cruises things with his hands only. He goes from one sofa to the other but just sort of leans! He is almost pulling up but not quite.

I'm still worrying about his height as he's really short - off the charts now. But since DH is small (5'7" at most) I'm trying not to worry. Anyone else have a shortie??? Smile

Report
PanicPants · 04/05/2006 21:05

Ds is a shortie, but so's dp - he's 5'8"
