Sorry guys - posted the 1000th message without realising Blush, so hopefully you can all find this thread!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PenguinArmy · 02/05/2012 13:24

can't believe you have to pre-book. We always flew virgin and those seats were free to book if you had an infant

PenguinArmy · 02/05/2012 13:27

one hour Shock poor you

yes, i'd give milk in a cup if they are happy with it

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2012 13:59

No poonami here but she managed to go. Sorry if tmi but they are like grow up poo, parcels and fairly firm so flushable.

strawberrypenguin · 02/05/2012 15:06

Poonam!i Grin

fuzzzy £80! What a rip off I wouldn't have booked it either.

mama how's J now? W does pops like that sometimes if he's had a lot of solids the day before, not quite adult consistency but not really loose baby poo either.

Ignore this bit if you like I'm just rambling mostly to myself so I hopefully won't do it at DH when he gets in. My SIL who was a complete bitch to me when I was preg and took piss out of W crying at Christmas has just text saying she is preg had 12 week scan everything fine. My initial reaction was a resounding f off if you think I'm going to say congrats when you couldn't even manage that you bitch, that explains why DH came home saying you were so much better with W when they visited you a couple of weeks ago. Instead I decided to be the bigger person and have said congrats and offered to be a friendly ear if she needs it so feeling a bit proud of myself too. So I'm a strange mix of Angry and Smile at the moment

CheshireDing · 02/05/2012 15:12

Jnice I find the weaning thing hard too. I don't cook so when DH is late back from work (like tonight) I always try and remember to ask him what I can feed P for lunch and dinner. I have no interest/imagination in cooking myself and usually end up missing lunch because I am busy so it's really hard to make sure P has good food and regularly.

What about feeding L some really soft mango and pineapple? P loves those, especially pineapple because it's really easy to hold. She has coughed a few times by I try and give her a few seconds to sort it out herself. Although today I did panic a bit when I realised she is got a whole prune completely in her mouth!

Ipswich any sign of poo? Glad you have Mama Grin I think P was "blocked up" but I bought her some prunes today as I read that's what you had been doing. I think it's probably coincidence but 30 minutes later we had a poo. Shame that didn't happen last night as I was up every 90 minutes with her screaching and trumping and no poo yesterday poor baby. I wouldn't mind but she had beans and veg for tea too!

Has anyone else fed quorn yet? I am thinking of giving P some quorn sausage for tea as I know meat-eating DH would never feed it to her.

CheshireDing · 02/05/2012 15:14

Ahh in that case I think you have said all you need to say to her now then Strawberry by being the bigger person. I'm evil so probably couldn't have managed to say anything Grin

Feel free to rant on her about her over the coming months Smile

FuzzzyDuck · 02/05/2012 15:16

Poonami!! That's funny! We had one like that yesterday so I stripped her and put on changing mat while I ran her bath, came back through 2 min later and she had peed and was splashing about in it Hmm Confused. What a strange girl I have..!
Had her weighed, 17lbs 3oz at 7 months and 2 days Smile. Now on the 50th line, 9th at birth!! I'm not surprised with the food she is putting away. So far the only dislike is raw peppers!
Glad everyone agrees the plane charge is a joke! I asked them if no one else on plane has a baby, can we have the bulk head seats, said no unless I book. I then asked if no one books them, can we have them. Again told no, they will just lay empty as you can't have them unless you have paid for them. Honestly, money grabbers!!
Well the sun has finally came out so going to get some washing done and prey S sleeps for an hour

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2012 15:17

cheahire yup fed quorn here. Spag Bol and quorn balls. Not veggie but not keen on red meat. Prunes are so messy, we got tinned ones and all squashy and soft. Used juice from tin in water for her. She refused prune this morning as she had them with every meal yesterday Grin. Tried houmus today

strawberrypenguin · 02/05/2012 15:39

cheshire thanks Smile I'm amazed anyone made it through all that rambling I did Blush

fuzzzy you could always ask once your in the air, the on board stewards might be a bit more accommodating

ipswichwitch · 02/05/2012 16:29

arf at poonami Grin

cheshire no poo yet, after last nights epic scream-a-thon took N to drs, she was lovely but basically suggested everything we're already doing (that reminds me, must sort his prunes for tea before he wakes from his nap!). she's going to confer with HVs and give us a call. wouldnt normally bother dr with what i'm positive is solid food related, but he was in so much pain last night, i was nearly sobbing with him :(

strawberry well done you, i prob would have said something sarky about seeing how they find it when its their baby screaming and people are taking the piss (hence the witch part!). god i'm getting less tolerant in my old age Grin

Scheherezade · 02/05/2012 19:43

hello all :) I'm back and a little less mental

I get overnight leave and weekend leave from the hospital. Though it's a bit odd to be thrown back into it - the main trouble I have is thinking up something to eat at night. DP hasn't been very helpful, and turns up to pick me up at hospital with "what do you want to eat tonight?" So I've rebelled, he's off out for swanky dinner with work, so I'm having ice cream, cake and wine for dinner. Because I'm just so rock and roll.

C in a really good, solid routine now. Completely stopped bf, so onto stage 2 milk and solids. Sleeps roughly every 2 hours.

6-7am wake, milk
7.30-8 Breakfast (porridge, with fruit puree mixed in)

  • Two hours after waking, it's nap time - 11am Milk 12pm Lunch. Puree (usually lumpy) with finger foods (orange, broccoli, bread etc)
  • nap time
3pm Milk 4-5pm Dinner (puree with bread finger food) and pudding (fruit puree with natural yoghurt) 6-7pm Bath, Book, Bottle, Bed. Grin

Though it REALLY pisses me off if DP has C and doesn't follow my routine, because it was bloody hard work getting it established!

mrshende I wash and sterilise bottles straight after using them. Either chuck in the cold water steriliser tubs in hospital, or at home we have an electric one that keeps sterilised for about 8 hours after switching on. The water has to be a little cooler than boiling so as not to destroy the nutrients in the milk. I only make bottles up when C is due one, so if I can't leave the kettle for 10-20 minutes after boiling, then I pour the water in the bottle, and stand it by an open window or put it in a jug of cold water for a few minutes just to cool it down. Out and about I take a tommee tippee flask of boiling water, and <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=formula+milk+storage+container+divider&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1183&bih=592&tbm=isch&tbnid=fX_lHFZ0a8Kk1M:&imgrefurl=myworld-nanamips.blogspot.com/2010/03/newborn-checklist.html&docid=_NenMKxJ6GMezM&imgurl=2.bp.blogspot.com/_y0PlSfJW9A8/S6GWFlwYDQI/AAAAAAAAAHE/Sglo51m9E4I/s320/350_423_3_jpg.png&w=320&h=320&ei=xn-hT6qFI87e8QPDjKWkCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=847&vpy=256&dur=2663&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=128&ty=131&sig=102725874926011682539&page=1&tbnh=126&tbnw=136&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:0,i:107" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">one of these to contain the formula powder. It has 3 segments so you can put differing amounts in each segment if you like. I'll also take a bottle of cold water to cool the bottle down, unless I'm going somewhere that I can get cold water from.

Jnice how is L - are you getting anymore sleep? How are you feeling, I think I remember you were going to get CBT or something (sorry, terrible memory) from the docs?

Scheherezade · 02/05/2012 19:45

Oh - he usually has a nap at 3ish. I find he sleeps a lot better in the day straight after a bottle, so I try to time it so he's due a nap after his bottle, then his solids when he wakes up. but it very rarely works out like that

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2012 19:46

Yay we had pooiooooo Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2012 19:52

scheh welcome back Smile glad you are feeling better

Ipswich Sad for constipation. I sobbed on Thursday with J. Ended up giving her 3ml calpol. Her poo is still quote firm and she cried when she went (I'd have cried too given size of pop compared to exit route). Really hope Nate goes soon and feels better. I ended up leave j straining in bumbo so gravity could help

MrsHende · 02/05/2012 20:02

Thanks for the bottle advice guys! Will dig out the flask.

Yay for the poo! Grin

Nice to see you back Scheh Smile.

I'm so jealous of the holiday chat - Canada, Italy...Envy.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2012 20:04

Envy holiday chat too. Wink

Scheherezade · 02/05/2012 20:14

Hooray for poo :)

I found giving C water with fresh orange juice helped soften his up when he had constipation. I offer it randomly throughout the day. realises you've probably all tried that and more

Scheherezade · 02/05/2012 20:15

Oh, and oranges for lunch as finger food. Lots of orange juice helped him, basically.

strawberrypenguin · 02/05/2012 22:36

Yay for poo! (oh how my life has changed can't imagine I would ever have had cause to say that before)

Hi scheh nice to have you back

ips it was a close run thing and I'm not usually known for being diplomatic! Don't want to make things too tricky for DH though and I actually rather like my PIL so starting a family argument wouldn't be that great especially as I've kept my mouth shut so far

Jnice · 03/05/2012 01:26

ips 1 hour sleep! You poor thing Sad hope you are sleeping soundly now.

cheshire good ideas. Do you use tinned pineapple?

Scheh good to see you and glad to hear you're doing so much better Smile L is still waking 3 times on average, so am feeling chronically exhausted. I keep hoping he will fix it because I don't feel strong enough to tackle it. I am seeing a therapist but cbt sessions not started - they are mid-may I think (must check the calendar).

Today I tried sauteeing apples and pears in butter. Nice and soft but this meant big chunks breaking off in his mouth for the most part he managed fine.

Jnice · 03/05/2012 01:30

Yay for pop Mama! Hope N goes soon too ips!

strawb your SIL sounds awful - well done for being do gracious Grin

Finding it hard to keep up now as l just grabs my iPhone when I'm trying to read or post Angry

Penelope1980 · 03/05/2012 06:16

I had A weighed today, he's a few days shy of 7 months and weighed 1.5 stone. Big baby!

Scheh am glad you're doing a bit better.

OP posts:
Jnice · 03/05/2012 07:02

That's great Pene! L is a little on the light side - I would guess around 16lb now. Not even double his birthweight Confused

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 03/05/2012 07:17

Hi everyone
Sorry not been on mug lately.
Good to see you back scheh
Sorry for all babies still struggling with poo.
Can't believe how big all our babies are getting! I haven't had M weighed for months think I'll check today. she's getting pretty chubby now though I never know how much is enough to feed her and she generally will keep eating as long as you keep feeding. Complete opposite to her brother who lives on about 20 calories a day! I can see her stealing from his plate when she's bigger she's already trying Grin

Dh has been doing well lately here's hoping it lasts. Think I may have just a very slight touch of depression though the past week or so I've been compulsively eating (literally got through 15 snack size bags of maltesers in one day) Blush and im struggling to find the energy to do anything een get myself and kids dressed. I'm dragging my ass to soft play today in a bid to stop myself getting worse!

Jnice · 03/05/2012 11:28

ed - good to see you Smile glad your DH is doing well. I am afraid I know what you mean about eating. I'm putting weight on and can't get through a day without a binge attack on the biscuits or cake of some kind Sad

If it continues do go to see a dr hon, it's hard to get better on your own x
