Tsc- could you ask in a sort of 'how much will our share come to just do I know how much to bring?' they might then say oh don't worry we'll pay (hopefully!)

Spirael · 16/01/2012 10:55

[adds the book to Amazon wishlist] Grin

I'm still here reading along with everyone. Just been manic busy lately and not had time to post! Confused

Sat three tests and attended four interviews and one phone interview in the past fortnight, as well as working full time. Just waiting for feedback and (hopefully) something positive for my preferred position! [chews nails]

Also had no kitchen for the last week. My house is covered in dust and I'm getting fed up with takeaway and microwave meals. Hardest part though is having no downstairs sink!! Was a bit of a nightmare over the weekend.

Hopefully though they'll be putting the units in today and should be finished in the next day or two! [crosses fingers]

Had to contend with AF from hell too... Cramps for days leading up to it, then (TMI...) was flooding pads in a matter of hours. Shock Only lasted three days though, so I guess it was just a rapid clearout.

And now I have a cold... [mopes off to feel sorry for self]

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 11:48

Yep ds1 hates the hoover. He doesn't go into meltdown but he does panic and jump onto the sifa then as soon as I turn it iff he asks in a fretful voice 'have you finished now?!?!?!'

Cake my fave homecooked meal is my spinach, mushroom & butternut squah lasagna. I generally just love mushrooms and squash though so most things made with them are a winner GrinButternut squash and sage risotto, mushroom stroganoff, butternut squash, red onion and blue cheese tarts...that sort of thing is right up my street. What's yours?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 11:49

Sofa

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 13:36

How you getting on with the tests memph?

viksam · 16/01/2012 14:59

Afternoon, TMI alert...........
Im pissed off cos i was bleed free for two days and just now its gushed out again, rahhhhhhhh!! Need to stop lifting D and generally take things a bit easier like we have said.
trudy good to hear from you, how are things going for you apart from M being poorly? Have u got a humidifier and have u raised the cot or mattress, when D had his chest infection when F was born we used a humidifier and DH put a pillow under his matteress on the reccomendation of the Dr and it did seem to help him.
D woke twice last night really squealing as if he was having a major nightmare, i hope that doesnt last!
We watched two films this weekend one really good one called 'the driver' very stylised and strangly 80'sesq and one really SHITE one called 'kill list' stay away from it, shockingly bad and vile, gave me bad dreams!! on the subject of films, 'the warrior' is really good, stupid title though!
DH has just gone out to a meeting at work to find out which menbers of senior management are to be made redundant......i think he is pretty safe as they have asked him to run another site as well as his own, dont think they would do that if they were going to make him redundant a few weeks later but you just never know, bad times for all including those in education, nothings certain these days. Hope he's back soon.
spirael just think how nice it will be to have a lovely new kitchen though, im very Envy of you!! get that snagging list done asap though, the little things are always a PITA to finish!
dh im not feeding him myself, i was at this point with D so its all new to me to bottle feed at this stage. I think he is a sucky baby just like D was and we are interperating it as wanting food but he could be placated with a dummy, all the feeding is giving him trapped wind so im going to try and space him out more between feeds and break him off the bottle for winding more regularly. Im gona get him weighed tomorrow and ask for some advice when im there. They dont generally have any advice for us evil bottle feeders though we are just left to get on with it, thats my experience with D anyhow.

Chulita · 16/01/2012 15:02

cake I wonder about number 4 every day! I don't know if I want to do this again though, we're decided not to discuss it til number 3 is about 18 mths although we're always asking each other about it.

Hope everything goes well today memphis.

I can't comment on C's behaviour tbh tsc, I don't know enough 4 year olds to know what's normal. Has anyone at her nursery flagged anything up? They see enough to notice someone who's on a different spectrum as opposed to someone who's just at the high end of normal iyswim.

Both L and S go crazy when I get the hoover out but in an over-excited way, cackling maniacally and jumping up and down Hmm good reason not to do it very often Grin. And then L never shuts up but since she's been at nursery I've noticed S doesn't either. He doesn't say words but just says 'diss' all the time and wants a reaction so will get higher and higher pitched til I acknowledge him then starts again with something else.

I've got 7 month old salmon defrosting on the side but no spuds in the house, what can I serve with it?

spirael it'll all be worth it to have a new kitchen!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 15:07

I watched Horrible Bosses which was utterly pants and Dog Pound which was very good, excellent acting and very gritty, but also quite disturbing and it has got under my skin a litlle actually. I welled up thinking about one particular scene this morning.

I was still bleeding at this stage Vik

I'm also Envy of your new kitchen Spirael

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/01/2012 16:00

Sorry vik I thought you were bfing Blush bottle feeding is alien to me so I wouldn't be much help on that front! But stop doing too much!! You must must must take things slowly even if you feel physically fine. We don't want you fainting and no one knowing.

Ds having a nap now, prob a v bad idea but I went to the baby group today and he fell asleep in the car in the way home. Going to wake him up I think otherwise it'll be a 10pm bedtime.

Chulita · 16/01/2012 16:20

Sorry viks completely missed your post. With both of mine I bled for 8-12 weeks so it's not unusual to keep at it for ages afterwards (catches up on the 9 months missed during pgcy Angry )

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 17:01

x post chul. What about doing it as a stirfry type meal with soy sauce or sweet chilli and noodles? Or in a creamy/philidelphia sauce and pasta? Or with roasted veg and cous cous?

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/01/2012 17:26

Argh! I hate supermarket meat. Went shopping sat and bought amongst other things sausages and steaks. The sausages have a use by of yesterday and the steaks have a use by of today! How am I supposed to meal plan and buy the meat for the week when it had to be used the day after shopping?
Will the sausages be ok today and the steaks tomo (both one day after use by date)?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 17:49

You have to learn the art of stretching as far to the back of the shelf as possible for the longest use by dates Grin And if you don't manage to get a longer one by doing that, freeze it as soon as you get home then get it out of the freezer the night before you want to eat it. I'm no meat expert but they'd probably be ok I think.

They say 'use by' dates should alsways be adhered to, but 'best before' means just that - it's better to eat before then.

I made the Caponata earlier for tomorrow's tea and I've just made the sweet potato and peanut bake for tonight...hope it's nice!

I wasn't going to bath the boys tonight because I cba but I've just turned round to see ds1 is naked Confused I guess he wants a bath then :( ds2 has eaten nothing tonight. Everything that goes in his mouth he pulls a face at and then spits it out. Even yogurt. Wonder if it's teething or just bloody-mindednes Grin

Chulita · 16/01/2012 19:05

dh I'd eat the sausages even up to this weekend, same with the steaks. Imo they play it safe with the use by so we can't blame them for stuff but I've never had any trouble a few days afterwards. If in doubt, freeze it on the day of purchase and then it doesn't matter (the salmon steaks I'm cooking tonight have a use by of 9th July).

mlic I'm doing it with cous cous, haven't had it for ages cos the dc don't like it. Grin at naked, subtle ds1! Fwiw S has been ridiculously fussy for months now, I offer him everything and every night he ends up in his booster in front of Waybuloo having weetabix shovelled in.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/01/2012 19:09

It didn't even occur to me to check the dates assuming they'd be ok any day this week. We've eaten them now and they were v yummy (Jamie Oliver sausages)

D only ate the baby sweet corn and possibly some potato so I gave him peach slices after.

memphis83 · 16/01/2012 19:31

Evening all just had a quick read and got to go off to eat.

Now I know im a drama queen wqith my pfb but today was AWFUL, dh got there as the weather stopped work today, we got the emla cream to numb his veins, he cried after we had that on his skin, then when we got to the hospital they checked his veins, she couldnt find a single vein on his upper body suitable (I also have shit veins) so they had to go in his feet, I knew then that as you only allow one person in that I couldnt go in, Mum offered and he screamed and screamed like I have never ever heard him, I was 30 yrds away in waiting room and had to leave as it was awful, after they did ti they had to bandage him as his foot would not stop bleeding and he carried on sobbing for a long time after. but they are rushing the results through so will be a week instread of 2, aparently they also prescribe bread and other basics to coeliacs. L keeps holding his foot and tellinga story about it in his own language.
Sorry for me me me post got to go sort out food.

WhatSheSaid · 16/01/2012 19:38

"Game of Thrones" is on TV over here at the moment, dh is quite into it. I keep meaning to watch it but always seem to be doing other stuff. We have loads of them recorded but we have so many hours of stuff recorded I need to catch up on - I need to get round to watching some or deleting some.

dh I freeze meat and take it out the day before if the it's not going to get used before the date. I buy 2 weeks of meat at a time from the butchers so I freeze quite a few things (I've found it much easier sticking to my budget shopping every 2 wks, not sure why!)

Got our boiler fixed yesterday, 2 valves needed replacing and he ended up being here for about 3 hours so I'm not looking forward to the bill arriving...

Off to an outdoor paddling pool today though, doesn't open till 11am so just hanging around the house with the dcs at the moment.

WhatSheSaid · 16/01/2012 19:39

X posted with you memphis sorry it was so crappy today

Chulita · 16/01/2012 19:56

Aw memphis :( fwiw I'd have had to send someone else in or sit there bawling, I'm completely rubbish if either of mine cry. Sorry it was such a crap morning, sounds awful.

Got another scan/cons appt tomorrow but they've only booked me in for the consultant and not a scan. When I phoned up to query they said there were no more scan appts available so I should mention it at the desk and they'll try and squeeze me in. I decided afterwards to cancel but despite ringing about 6 times for 4 days straight, I just couldn't get through. What's the betting tomorrow I don't get a scan and have to go to see the consultant to discuss it regardless? grr!

Have fun at the pool wss Envy

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 19:56

Supermarkets are royally shite with use by date stuff ime.

Memph :( Poor L :( He'll forget all about it quickly though. You'll remember it but he won't, so take comfort in that :) That's great they're rushing through the results for you. Hope you're having some lovely food to make yourself feel better and not brown rice

An outdoor paddling pool wss Shock That sounds so alien to me as it hasn't got above 4 C here for the last two days Grin

The sweet potato and peanut bake was...odd! Nice odd I think, but definitely ...odd!

viksam · 16/01/2012 20:21

D was a bit the same with his tea, i dont get how they can be so fickle! this morning he had some strawberrys and grapes in the same bowl and he picked the grapes out and treated them like we had washed them in the toilet, this afternoon he kept asking for grapes......weird man! hes upstairs right now having a shower with dh, hope he puts him to bed, im trying to feed F. Hes getting used to a dummy now, i HATE using one but if it means i can streach his feeding out and he doesnt suffer with such bad wind thats a good thing i suppose.
memphis how was today?
dh that really pees me off, im sure they will be ok though.
mylife is dog pound worth watching though? The good film we watched was called 'drive' not the driver.
Just found this unposted, written at 6.45, just to clarify!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/01/2012 20:37

Hmmmm...it's hard to recommend per se because it isn't 'light entertainment' viewing iyswim. But for a film to get to you and for you to care about the characters it must be good - so in that sense yes it's worth watching.

I'm very Envy that he would eat grapes and strawberries vik! DS2 won't eat any fruit at all :( Unlike his brother who is the complete opposite!

memphis83 · 16/01/2012 21:20

mlic diet is off at the mo as I feel so low and emotional, had stomach cramps for days due to stressing out, we had chicken stuffed with garlic philli topped with breadcrumbs and butternut squash and potato dauphinois mmm mmm! L has started eating grapes, loves banana but prefers the puree fruit in the cartons you suck it out he would have those all day!
chulita glad that you are the same as me ive really beat myself up as im a failure for not being there, but he loves my mum so much, she said he didnt fight them or squirm which is good, he just got incredibly upset, which he never seems to do normally. hope you get a scan tomorrow.
dh where do you shop? I find Tesco meat tasteless and really bad quality and Asda is like dog food, when I bought meat there I ended up taking something back weekly that had gone off before the date, I like Morrisons as its got the instore butcher but I prefer my local butcher, he gives me great discount as he is a friend and I can get exact amount I want (and he does low fat sausages that are delish!)

Bit pissed off my friend from school who I rarely see now due to her being career obsessed has booked tomorrow off to visit so I cancelled on friend up the road to see her for her to say oh I will be there at 3!? why book the day off? then she says she has been ill all day today, if I get so much as a runny nose I cant visit my dad for at least 2 weeks after feeling better! I want to cancel but feel guilty as she has lost a days pay (im hoping she is still ill tomorrow so wont come over)

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/01/2012 21:30

memphis sounds horrible for you I think I'd be the same. Agree that he will soon forget.
I shop at Tesco but agree their meat isn't the best. Sainsbo can be ok but would prefer to get butcher meat. Only butcher in this town is Rookes so not cheap but def nicer.

D has woken up twice in the past half an hour. He's bloody awful on his own atm.
