Thanks for the suggestions cake. I think the shopping mall is what we'll go for. She'd be bored in the cinema and that wouldn't be nice for the other viewers Blush

BTW, the woman who didn't show up yesterday, still hasn't been in touch. I suppose she's not gonna be in touch for a while, then pretend nothing happened. She's done that before. I am gonna try and keep her at arms length from now on, but it's gonna be hard, cos I'm not one for confrontation and she is very persistent. I'll try anyway.

Hmm rainy day activities... I might put some music on Spotify that I can sing along to (perhaps songs from musicals, or kids' songs) and have a bit of a boogie with J. Or have a play on the bed, dangling him upside down, making him giggle etc. Or just go out for a walk in the rain anyway. I'm looking forward to being able to do some messy play with flour/paint/whatever - at the moment J would just eat it. We had fun with jelly a little while ago. Babycentre has some good ideas for games - see for eg www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/development/letsplay/9months4thweek/.

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 13:57

That curry sounded lovely mlic - recipe please Smile

what's your fave go-to recipe that you eat weekly or so? i reck ours is asparagus, mushroom and leek risotto or veggie spag bol

A and I had jusrol croissants (stuffed with veggie ham and cheese) for brunch - we both loved them

that's crap re hours tsc. really hope they come back with something better asap

have just spent hours doing the finances from the last 6 months Shock. i hadn't bothered to do any totting up/budgeting/account transfers in all that time so dh hasn't been paying in anything extra even tho i'm down to smp - so i've been subbing the joint account out of my savings all this time. i'm about 90% of the way thru it and dh isn't going to be pleased when he's sees the bill for a couple of grand i'm going to send him Grin

Does no one have an apple crumble recipe :(

Chulita · 17/05/2011 14:21

trudyla just to say that you can't freeze quiche, it goes all soggy and ming [learnt the hard way emoticon] I give S a shallow tray of water on the kitchen floor with some spatulas and a face cloth/clean sponge and let him at it, or sticks and saucepans, or a newspaper and we rip it up together (I know it sounds odd but he loves it)

viksam good luck with the mw, I'm hoping to be joining you soon but knowing my luck it'll take months and months...

We went swimming for the first time today with S and he absolutely loved it. I plopped him under the water several times and he wasn't bothered at all. L's very nervous around water but she's only been swimming about 5 times her whole life. They have a lovely aqua tots time every morning at our local pool that I only just found out about but DH has just been told that he's being taken off nights so we won't be able to go now :( I'm gutted cos I really want to take them at least once a month and now we can't

Chulita · 17/05/2011 14:23

dh I missed that, hang on, I'll grab my book

tsc those hours totally suck balls, definitely write and try and hold off for a bit!

Chulita · 17/05/2011 14:32

dh this is the recipe I use for crumble:
250g wholemeal flour
100g butter
150g light muscovado sugar (or light brown sugar)
Mix everything together (I use a food processor cos I'm lazy) with fingers/fork til resembles breadcrumbs.
Peel and slice a couple of cooking apples and stick in dish, sprinkle with sugar, dessertspoonful of flour and a pinch of cinnamon, top with crumble and bake at Gas 6 for about 30-40 mins.
(I sometimes use few oats in there too, and if you want your crumble drier just add more flour or more crisp add more butter)

Chulita · 17/05/2011 14:33

Sorry, gas 5 is probably better, our oven's really crap...

mlic where do you get vegan cheese? I've been looking for some for S although I have started giving him the odd cube of real cheese every now and then. Your book could still turn up, if E's anything like L it'll be tucked somewhere random.

CakeandRoses · 17/05/2011 14:52

there's about 4 or 5 diff types of cheezly mlic tho most prob taste v different to real cheese. i don't like the standard one, i only like the 'melting' ones and the soy-free one.

i actually really like soya milk in tea now. when i've been given a cup of something with dairy by accident, i can't stand the smell/taste.

i didn;t realise it was your creation, can see why you're so sad about losing it now

that's a shame about your dh's shift change chul. they seem to mess him about lots

have you started ttc then?!

better wake A up - she's on her second long nap today

They do mess him about something rotten and it's a load of bollocks. He didn't get home til 4am on Monday morning and he wasn't even on duty over the weekend We're not actively ttcing but we're not using any monkey sleeping bags on the rare occasion that both children are asleep and we have the energy to do anything.
Is anyone reading the FB thread? Shock I can't believe the things I read on mn sometimes!
cake do you mind me asking why you're vegan? just interested, nothing else!

yes what fb thread chulita???????
mlic the risky nooky ...is this your way of hoping the decision is taken out of your hands???
tsc shame about those shitty shifts I hope they change them for you.
my staple dish/es are pasta sauce with chicken, mushrooms, peppers and onions or dauphinoise potatoes but with butternut squash and sweet potato in it, I put onions and garlic in everything.
went to pets at home as had to get a new lead and collar and then to supermarket, i could smell sewage in there and realised it was L, his nappy had leaked, I had to throw away his vest and socks and even had poo on his cardi, as i was only popping out only had his little bag with small amount of wipes and 1 nappy in it!!!
forgot to say yesterday L drank 2 oz of water with a bit of grape juice in and did the same this morning...i think this is the reason behind the fact he isnt shitting maltesers!!
