July 2010: C'mon threadbabes: eat like MLIC's; drink like TSC's; smile like Memphis's; laugh like Cakes's; crawl like nearly all of them (except Cake's)... but mainly: sleep like Spireals

hope the dentist was OK, chulita.

boo to the waking for milk babies. J was stirring from 4.30-6.30 today when I finally fed him, but he then went back to sleep on me till 8am! It was nice, but has put the whole day's routine out of kilter. He's napping now (has been for 30 mins so far) but if he wakes up much before 2.30 I don't think he'll make it through to bedtime without a meltdown. First day ever of only one nap!

Am pissed off because when I went to singalong at the children's centre this morning, I had a chat about where J was on the waiting list for a nursery place there. We got on the list when I was 16 weeks pg in Feb 2009, but there is no place for him in September. There may (though no guarantees) be a place in January. Grr. That's almost 2 years on the waiting list. I think siblings and children with disabilities get priority, hence why there are no places.

So what do I do now? In a way I prefer the idea of a childminder to a nursery while he's very young - will need to start ringing round. I don;t know how far in advance I need to be looking. I'm starting back at work on 1 August so would need to have him settled in by then. There is also another nursery up the road I have heard good things about - might go and have a look. Or my mum says she may be able to help - but I'd have to pay her anyway, and she'd be doing it in my home, which might be tricky with me working from home.

MelissaM · 18/05/2011 13:53

That's annoying re the nursery place woodlands. Especially when you've been on the list so long. Hope you get something sorted quickly.

Reminds me that I need to phone our nursery to arrange Lucas' settling days as due back to work mid July (and need to book them before we go on holiday).

Will get this weekend out of the way then plan dairy free for when we're back from weekend away. Coping with new (to us) folding camper and diet will be a mare, unless think.of something other than cereal for breakfasts. Any suggestions? Very limited imagination here. Maybe if some of you that are dairy free or little ones are, cld tell me what you eat typically (sure his has been discussed before) then I can make sure i've used up unsuitable food and buy the right things. Thanks

Chulita · 18/05/2011 14:15

We still have cereal but use a non-dairy milk and have since got prescription formula for S so I use that for his weetabix.

Dentist was fine thanks woodlands, I greatly dislike going to them but they're rarely as bad as I expect. I had several horrific visits when I was younger (not for stuff for me but stuff I saw being done) and I think it's scarred me for life.
Sucks about the nursery, Shock to 2 year wait not being long enough, that's insane!

stac I'm pleased that went well for you. I need to start giving S water overnight too cos at 10 months he really shouldn't need milk.

I thought I'd start eating well again today and was doing fine til I had a huge sausage, garlic mayo and cheese baguette and a handful of smarties. soup for tea then...

memphis83 · 18/05/2011 14:41

chulita I hate the dentist too, plus any form of drug to numb me gives me the shakes so i lie there shaking like a leaf!!! but hope it goes ok, I hate the feeling of a scale and polish I always feel so sensitive to hot and cold after, I always tell the dentist hes taken my tooth sleeping bags off!!!

having a down day today, my support worker fron surestart just rang to ask if i wanted a helper once a week and i broke down, broke down at my group too feel a bit :( today so i will slope off!

It's not a waste of the earth's resources or anything if we leave a few posts at the end of this thread, y'know...

Yes, it's a Surestart nursery. I don't think it's much cheaper than the competition, but it has really good Ofsted reports. Have just had a chat to DH about the situation and he agrees it just isn't going to work with my mum looking after J here while we're both working from home. But for some reason he is a bit anti-childminder too. Maybe I'll try to arrange a couple of visits with him and see if he'll change his mind.

bunch of traitors

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:36

I don't much like leaving empty posts, feels like a waste of something or rather

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:37

I need to go to bed in a mo

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:37

the trouble with the end of the thread is that no one reads what you post on the old one so whatever you say doesn't get noticed

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:38

Maybe in 4 weeks' time we should start a thread and let She That Panics know that we've got one but not release it til the old one's full

Chulita · 18/05/2011 21:39

Or I'll just keep writing inanities til this is full... 30 more posts though, I won't manage it tonight with the current internet speed Grin

Goodnight mlic!

malibustac · 18/05/2011 22:16

Don't know what rubbish we can talk to fill another 30 spaces.

CakeandRoses · 18/05/2011 23:22

Morning! Awful night here, I'm leaning more and more to cc even though I don't want to. Just crap. Doesn't help that S has a poo around 5am every day.
