Women of MN - What do you like about Trump?

ShinyTime · 06/11/2024 09:37

He couldn’t have been voted in without the support of women. As a non-Trump fan myself, I’m wondering what is it you like about him? This applies to non-US voters who favour him and would vote for him if possible.

No, I’m obviously not okay with that, but I don’t see that that is an inevitable consequence of abortion not being available, as care for a naturally occurring miscarriage, or spontaneous abortion, is not the same as a medically induced abortion. Unfortunately there are no circumstances in which I can be okay with a baby being killed even where the mother’s life is in danger. If a woman will die or be seriously harmed if she remains pregnant, labour should be induced, the baby delivered, and given every chance to survive if past viability. If the baby was killed first, it would still need to be delivered, whether vaginally or by c-section.

As to your other points - I did already say I disagree with Trump. The post asked for what women like about him, so I listed everything that I see as a positive and then concluded I wouldn’t vote for him because his headlining economic policy is lunacy.

About the abortion not even in cases of danger to mums life - why?
What do you win by having both die?

Whats wrong with immigration?

No thanks I've wasted enough time on previous threads about this, forgot what an echo chamber Mumsnet was. All Ill say is most people on this site have a lot more money than the average person and can afford to live in expensive areas that are completely untroubled by any of the issues with mass immigration, then yall call anyone with a different opinion racists.

This is one of the reasons people vote for people like trump btw

Dweebie · 06/11/2024 18:09

Very difficult to understand why such an extreme figure could get so much of the vote, I would’ve predicted his natural ceiling of support to be much lower. I’m also very worried about Musk and I think we should ban twitter in the UK.

Blueeyedmale · 06/11/2024 18:10

His behaviour towards women is awful the comments he's made about his own daughter is sickening enough, the affairs, comments on grabbing women by the private parts disgusting.

A lot of comments here about anti abortion sadly growing up I'm really sad to say I held very strong views on abortion both my parents had strict catholic upbringings so it was drummed into me every day that any women who murdered a child was wicked beyond evil.

However when old enough I educated myself of facts rather than opinion.and ultimately it's a women's choice what she chooses to do with her body not the government or any lawmaker.

But back to trump this is not a good day for democracy I don't think it's good for women but sadly 51 per cent of Americans disagree with me

I think perhaps we should turn this into "why did Kamala Harris not win?". What was so bad about her policies that people voted for Trump instead? To me as an outsider nothing on earth would persuade me to vote for him, but there must be something about her/her party that put people off.

No, it really isn't that, or at least, it's a minor factor. The truth is that they're irrational. People shy away from that, they don't want to face how fucked up America is. They want to presume Trump voters had good reasons. They didn't. It's completely emotional and based on fantasy. They want a magical strongman to fix everything because then they can abdicate all responsibility. They want a daddy. It's the same reason Putin is inexplicably popular in Russia. That's the brutal truth. People are irrational.

I agree we should be able to talk about immigration. However Biden had a tough policy proposal on immigration which was voted down by the republicans.

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 06/11/2024 18:12

Absolutely nothing.
Even if he is "anti trans" and maybe has a few ideas that arent dreadful, that doesnt negate all the disastrous things hes said over the years and will do so in future. Or his awful policies. Hes a terrible excuse for a human being.

Frowningprovidence · 06/11/2024 18:12

The thing is there's no point drilling down if people are right about why they like trump as most people don't think that deeply. If they are concerned about illegal immigration and somone says they will be tough on illegal immigration that satisfy's a lot of people.

User135644 · 06/11/2024 18:13

He's not a democrat. People are tired of liberals

ginasevern · 06/11/2024 18:13

I like Trump because he said if you grab a woman by the pussy you can do anything. What a guy! Can't imagine for the life of me why any woman wouldn't find him irresistible.

Mumsnet is part of the liberal elite.

Full of the 6 figure salary set who think they know better than the plebs.

spanieleyes22 · 06/11/2024 18:17

I don't understand how a woman could vote for a man who is openly misogynistic and openly admits to harassing and assaulting women. By voting him in it has shown what American people really believe in and I find it incredibly sad.

MrsJoanDanvers · 06/11/2024 18:18

If only the pro lifers were as vocal annd campaigned as hard about the babies already here.

spanieleyes22 · 06/11/2024 18:19

Zonder · 06/11/2024 16:06

I like that he is anti-abortion

I'm puzzled by this. I've never heard him say he is anti abortion and in fact recently when someone tried to get him to explicitly say this he wouldn't be drawn.

I can't imagine he is any abortion. In all his years of being a womanizer and having affairs I'm sure there have been some unwanted pregnancies? I've never heard him say he is anti abortion. He sucks up the far right and people who object for religious reasons as it gets him votes. As for his own moral compass I think he has shown he doesn't have one!

I find it odd they call themselves pro life when they’re actually just pro forced birth.

MrsJoanDanvers · 06/11/2024 18:22

I’ve heard he is very charming in private. He is a good listener. He is prepared to talk to the ‘other side’. He is an antidote to the ‘progressive elite’ (ref Corbyn et al) who think of the poor as victims solely to be rescued and divide people into groups according to their identity. I’m not saying I like him-but these are the things I like about him. And I can really understand why he beat Kamala. And the sexual allegations? Well, the Dems had Clinton in the White House.

spanieleyes22 · 06/11/2024 18:23

Superworm24 · 06/11/2024 16:48

Well I'm British and not American so what I think doesn't really matter.

But if I had to pick something I would say that I admire how open he is. I mean you never really know what's going to come out of his mouth and he really doesn't care who he offends. I believe that most people and politicians have quite a few unpopular opinions but they would never dare to voice them. They just hide it and tell people what they want to hear. So most of us don't trust a single word they say. Trump is different.

Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie!! He lies all the time. Saying what he thinks people want to hear. Which is depressing as fuck when you think about it.

I would love to know how many pro lifers forced birthers adopt all those lovely babies they are saving

Backwoods57 · 06/11/2024 18:29

I like that he is anti-abortion

He isn't though, he believes that the states should decide themselves not the federal government.

Also, why are they so comfortable with the rise in infant and maternal mortality in forced birth states.
We won't get an honest answer to any of these questions. They are hypocrites and deep down they know it. They just don't care. Just once I'd like to see one of them admit the truth, but it will never happen. I have been asking them these kind of questions for twenty five years and haven't got an honest answer yet.

Apolloneuro · 06/11/2024 18:31

I think he’s an immoral, criminal, racist, ableist and misogynistic megalomaniac. He’s also phenomenally talented. Bloody dangerous combination.

1dayatatime · 06/11/2024 18:31

The economy.

He is a deeply unpleasant narcissistic bully but when it comes down to being able to afford the grocery bill, hearing, the mortgage and keeping your job then voters will prioritise this over his character.

It's easy for the well off educated middle classes to dismiss this as simply greed but not so easy if you are struggling.

Ugh this is bringing back unpleasant memories of Tucker Carlson excitedly talking about daddy aka Trump coming home to spank his unruly 15 year old teenage daughter aka America 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. He is a racist, homophobic, misogynistic PIG who will use the next four years to do all that he can to line his pockets. This is a scary time to live in the US because he will be completely unfettered with no chance of another reelection and he will make the country the laughing stock of the free world.

Frowningprovidence · 06/11/2024 18:41

I'm not sure anyone who did vote for him will feel that comfortable replying on this thread as its more people saying they don't like him.

Personally I would really like to understand the positives as people must have some ideas.
