Women of MN - What do you like about Trump?

He couldn’t have been voted in without the support of women. As a non-Trump fan myself, I’m wondering what is it you like about him? This applies to non-US voters who favour him and would vote for him if possible.

Unfortunately there are no circumstances in which I can be okay with a baby being killed even where the mother’s life is in danger.

Stunned. A cluster of cells matters more than a woman's life. @batt3nb3rg

These attitudes are so deeply disturbing.

I am saddened by women feeling this way.

I am relieved I live in Europe with my daughters.

I think what posters like that reminds us, is that more people than we like to admit are actually not very bright. Throw in poor education, extreme politics and views given oxygen on social media, financial pressures, and just a generally unstable world and there you have it - enough people believing and perpetuating and voting for this shit. It's utterly depressing.

How would home schooling as a rule rather than exception work when in the majority of families parents go to work - earn money, have a career etc

I’m also interested in this.

Is it to save children from school shooters, whose right to bear arms is so robustly defended by the Republicans in the first place?

Womblewife · 06/11/2024 16:39

He has a lovely colour to his cheeks….

It is clearly not hypocritical. It’s like saying, can no one see the hypocrisy between refusing to smack a baby for crying for their nappy to be changed, but still putting a 5 year old on the naughty step. The death penalty is a consequence for anti-social behaviour that harms others. Abortion is the ending of a blameless, pre-born life at the behest of someone else. If you commit a crime punishable by death, you are yourself consenting to being executed.

I don’t know how I feel about the death penalty for shoplifting, but I think for things like murder, rape, child abuse, carjacking, burglary, it is something I am in support of. Deeply anti-social criminality will only be stamped out of the consequences are harsh and the perpetrators are never released to reoffend.

You don’t know how you feel about the death penalty for shoplifting?

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 06/11/2024 16:43

Anti abortion? Don’t make me laugh. The only way that twat is anti abortion in as yet another way to control women. He couldn’t give a shiny shit about killing babies and anyone who thinks that’s even crossed his mind for one second is an idiot. I’m sure if one of his many mistresses had needed a convenient abortion he’d not have thought twice about the “precious life” 🙄.

Superworm24 · 06/11/2024 16:48

Well I'm British and not American so what I think doesn't really matter.

But if I had to pick something I would say that I admire how open he is. I mean you never really know what's going to come out of his mouth and he really doesn't care who he offends. I believe that most people and politicians have quite a few unpopular opinions but they would never dare to voice them. They just hide it and tell people what they want to hear. So most of us don't trust a single word they say. Trump is different.

laveritable · 06/11/2024 16:51

I like that he is anti-abortion

He called for the death penalty for THE CENTRAL PARK 5 innocent Black/Latino boys, who where later exonerated after years in prison! Till this day trump has refused to apologise!

mathanxiety · 06/11/2024 16:51

batt3nb3rg · 06/11/2024 14:25

No, I’m obviously not okay with that, but I don’t see that that is an inevitable consequence of abortion not being available, as care for a naturally occurring miscarriage, or spontaneous abortion, is not the same as a medically induced abortion. Unfortunately there are no circumstances in which I can be okay with a baby being killed even where the mother’s life is in danger. If a woman will die or be seriously harmed if she remains pregnant, labour should be induced, the baby delivered, and given every chance to survive if past viability. If the baby was killed first, it would still need to be delivered, whether vaginally or by c-section.

As to your other points - I did already say I disagree with Trump. The post asked for what women like about him, so I listed everything that I see as a positive and then concluded I wouldn’t vote for him because his headlining economic policy is lunacy.

You are wrong in your blithe assumptions about the legality of various aspects of care for a naturally occurring miscarriage.

Look into the case of a dentist who died of sepsis in Galway University Hospital in Ireland because the law at that time banned abortion. Doctors' hands were tied by the law, and they will be tied in the US states where voters have voted for bans.

I suggest you do a lot more research on the issues that can come up when pregnancy runs into serious medical danger naturally and before viability. Miscarriages are not always clear-cut events. Miscarriages can involve the death of one twin and jeopardy of the life of another. Miscarriages can be long drawn out with the risk of sepsis, as seen in the Galway case. It is not a simple "labour can be induced" issue.

And fwiw, Trump is not against abortion. His policy is that it should be decided by the states individually.

GhostCicada · 06/11/2024 16:15

I héard him say that women who have an abortion should be punished. That doesn't sounf pro abortion to me.

Did you? I haven't found anything like that so if you have a link I would be very interested.

If you think he's not telling people what they want to hear and boldly shooting from the lip, you need to do a little research on his core message and the core audience that he has carefully cultivated for years.

This is the man who proclaimed his love for the poorly educated.

I suspect it's more to do with that phrase about keeping women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

Lentilweaver · 06/11/2024 16:57

Oh wow. Eyeopener. Both as a second gen immigrant and a staunch pro choicer.

hattie43 · 06/11/2024 16:59

I like he puts his country and its citizens first , we here are supposed to be embarrassed and ashamed of being British .

lollypopsforme · 06/11/2024 17:01

Hes funny.

Wtf have I just read. It worries me people have these attitudes.

Staggering, isn't it. I've been telling people for decades that a large number of Americans are flat out crazy with hate. Many people told me I was exaggerating, that it's not that bad. Clearly, it is exactly that bad. I hate being right about that. I really hoped enough of them would come to their senses this time, but they just got crazier.

Zonder · 06/11/2024 16:54

Did you? I haven't found anything like that so if you have a link I would be very interested.

It was a video clip in a Harris ad that ran during the last two weeks of the race, showing Trump in an interview.

Lentilweaver · 06/11/2024 17:08

The death penalty for shoplifting yes or no? Ooh am so confused!

Sethera · 06/11/2024 17:08

It baffles me that a criminal awaiting sentencing can be elected as president of the USA.

I can't claim knowledge of all his policies but I disagree with the headline ones, anti-abortion, death penalty, defence.

Thats the point, remember women aren’t people, they are merely machines to raise children and to be raped at their husbands will.

It’s citizens? Really, you think that’s what he’s going to do?
