Can't resist another bit of election geekery.

Just imagine if the UK had voted for AV in 2011.

All those second preferences being swapped between Labour and the Lib Dems. The only question would be whether the Tories would win greater or fewer than 10 seats.

I agree!

let's call it an even 30.

Then we could give her a piece of silver for each day which in all fairness she should give to Kwasi.

To be honest I think truss if she’s not talking sometimes comes across like this. She has a very blank, expressionless face a lot of the time. Not sure if that’s unintentional or whether she works hard on it. But I’ve always thought the lights are on but no one’s home.

It also has Tiverton & Honiton as a Tory hold with Labour beating the LDs into third. Again, unlikely, as it's currently a LD by-election gain.

The Lib Dems came second in a whole swathe of rural south of England seats in 2019 and poll much better in those places than nationwide. The predictions of the Tories being reduced to say 20 seats would be premised on a) moderate Remainer Tories switching to the Lib Dems and b) Labour supporters voting tactically to get the Tory incumbent out. In theory the Tories could lose them all, as that's how FPTP works.

There’s a few red areas in the SW that are never going red. One will go independent. A couple of others will go Lib Dem before they go labour.

Seem to remember this coming up during the Tiv & Honiton by election.

Truss has just said she will lead Tory party into next General Election.

Interview on BBC News at Ten – I'm curling with embarrassment just watching her...

TokyoSushi · 17/10/2022 22:12

Oh my days, I literally just watched that through my fingers. It's a shame really, she's completely out of her depth and somebody needs to gently usher her away.

Walkaround · 17/10/2022 22:28

To be fair, she only did exactly what she said she would do. Those who should be truly ashamed are those who voted her in to do it. There’s no getting away from the fact that the Tory Party is stuffed full of idiots. It’s not just Liz Truss who shouldn’t last much longer.

I would say 'lobotomized'. However... 😀

Someone’s taken her battery out. She’s Dalek woman.

Katyaadlerscoat · 17/10/2022 22:43

It's ok everyone; she's fixed the mistakes🥳

Cuck00soup · 17/10/2022 22:47

I wonder who will be PM in the morning?

The BBC ended the ten o clock news suggesting you could watch the whole of the Chris Mason / Trussbot interview. I honestly don't think I could bear it. The excerpts were painful enough.

LemonsOnSaleAgain · 17/10/2022 17:38

I'm starting to wonder about this. Or the world has ended and we are all living in a computer simulation run by Dominic Cummings

Me too.

Sorebackandibs · 17/10/2022 22:51

Why does she blink so much? She looks like she's glitching.

myexisawanker · 17/10/2022 22:51

She's almost drunk but too in control for that. Definitely medicated- her words were slurring bit.
Long term she's shooting herself in the foot, surely she be better to walk whilst she can walk rather need to be carried off in an ambulance...

Theskyisfullofbirds · 17/10/2022 22:57

I genuinely think she’s unwell and I noticed the slurring too. I hate what she and her cronies have done to the people of this country but I don’t wish ill health on anyone. She should step down, or be removed, both for the good of the country and her own personal well being.

Theskyisfullofbirds · 17/10/2022 22:58

And there should preferably be a general election, though the tories will fight tooth and nail against it.

Yes. I agree with this. All the lettuce nonsense needs to stop. She needs to be removed for her own well-being aside from the obvious reasons.

Sharming · 17/10/2022 23:09

I went from being riveted by the drama to actually feeling sorry for her - like we were watching her have a nervous breakdown live on TV. It felt voyeuristic.

Mordaunt handled it well - almost too well. She enjoyed it. And Hunt did feel like the grown ups had finally come back home to sort out the mess the kids had made. What a shit show.

MarshaBradyo · 17/10/2022 23:16

Topseyt123 · 17/10/2022 19:20

I also thought she looked very unwell, and as though she would rather be just about anywhere else. It really was a shocking sight.

I know it is very largely self-inflicted and that limits the amount of sympathy I am prepared to express, but she needs to step down. How close is she to a full on breakdown?

For the sake of the country, and of her own mental and physical health (I wish her no personal ill) she needs to go.

I haven’t watched anything (just listened to Hunt on LBC) but I feel the same. It’s making me feel a bit stressy that she won’t go.

AcornsUnderfoot · 17/10/2022 23:17

A friend used to work in the civil service, and came across most of the current and recent past ministers. Before the leadership election, he said that Jeremy Hunt was the most competent politician by far, and was hoping that he would stand for PM. He also said that Liz Truss would be disastrous. He's not a Tory, his views were just based on competence. Interesting how things have turned out.

Katyaadlerscoat · 18/10/2022 00:07

Sorebackandibs · 17/10/2022 22:51

Does she wear contact lenses? It could be that.

colouringindoors · 18/10/2022 00:19

Today it looked like Hunt and Mordaunt being co PMs and with Truss saying she's staying on are they trying to avoid another leadership vote? The Tories are so utterly awful.

Erica56 · 18/10/2022 00:25

What we really need is a general election. Covid has changed everything. How can we keep going with a government voted in pre pandemic

GCAcademic · 18/10/2022 00:37

Perhaps it’s all an act and the Tories have come up with the excuse of ill health to give Truss an out and so that they can install their latest charlatan or psychopath?

HeddaGarbled · 18/10/2022 00:45

Quite. Rishi did tell them how it was all going to go down but they voted for her anyway.
