Please can someone explain? Will we pay if we leave EU without a deal?

With all this talk of billions of pounds which we are supposed to owe if we leave and talk of continuing to pay after we leave, I am in the dark. If we walk away with no deal will we pay anything like the amounts talked about? If we are able to do that surely the EU will be big losers as well as us! I am at a loss. Grateful for your input as I am bewildered. I voted to remain but must say the shenanigans being played by the EU are showing them as more like the Mafia than a democratic institution.

You'll have to explain how I've had my arse handed to me and what I've been ignorant about.

Silly people.

Apols for thread derail.

The D Day landings were minor compared to Stalingrad in terms of resources. The allies worked as a team obviously, no one is saying the US and UK did nothing. However, the weight of Soviet effort, including the Russian winter, was much, much more significant. It's not either or, rather, it's more or less.

I do think it's strange M4 isn't contributing anything to our little derail.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 14:47

I think I was clear: GDP for the UK is the LOWEST in the EU. You presented it as not being so

It's lowest in the "Growth League" not lowest in the EU, how can it be the lowest in the EU?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_in_Europe_by_GDP_(nominal)

If you can get access to assets without creditors having a chunk first then you're a robber baron hero. DEDUCT LIABILITIES INCL CONTINGENT LIABILITIES when you look at a share of assets. again, you presented BS

I presented, when asked, a list of the EU current assets. Which creditors would be taking a chunk of EU assets

In what way? I have nothing more to add to the posts that have already been made.

Uhhh, I was laughing AT you Olivia, not with you.
Proud brexiter here. But, good luck on the tatami mats Hmm

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 14:56

@M4dad

You really are an uneducated twat. Have you ever seen BALANCE SHEET in your life?

Page 18: the EU has a NEGATIVE EUR 72 BILLION NET WORTH. DUH
Source: ec.europa.eu/budget/library/biblio/publications/2017/EU_Annual_Accounts_2016_en.pdf, page 20

And in respect of my GDP graph, it was GDP growth. In terms of size of economy we used to be larger than France. Now no longer because of the idiocy that is Brexit.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 14:57

That's all you've got. Clearly uneducated old white male with armchair opinions. Like most Brexshitters / Bexidiots

I love this strategy you have of demeaning, weakly, people like me. It contributes to your continuing defeat in terms of the UK leaving the EU.

.....and I'm hardly old

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 14:58

well @Tamatoa : why not have a go? Show us your brilliance.

How much worse off are you going to be as a result of these Brexit taliban now running us over a cliff?

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:01

Ha ha ha.

Thanks for this

Given the money it receives - £143 Billion pounds a year - why are you so dedicated to an organisation that is obviously poorly run and most of it's southerly countries are looking at poverty and mass youth unemployment?

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:01

M4dad

But you have zero facts. Much of what you state is wrong or at best incomplete.

Also, Zero indication that we are headed for anything but economic disaster with a No Deal scenario - the Nash Equilibrium for this game we are playing.

You've been sold unicorns and are gonna get Armageddon .. you are blissfully unaware. Educate yourself and convince yourself we are not going to be completely destroyed by this tribalist experiment.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:03

@M4dad.

Someone said it earlier. You have no clue how the EU works. Educate yourself man.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:04

and it's EUROS not POUNDS. The EU functions in EUROS ...

You don't get much right do you?

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:06

Olivia,

You've been sold unicorns and are gonna get Armageddon .. you are blissfully unaware. Educate yourself and convince yourself we are not going to be completely destroyed by this tribalist experiment

The EU is already armageddon for places like Greece and it's coming to a town near you in Italy, Spain, Portugal, et al.

Why do you completely ignore these facts?

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:07

You have no clue how the EU works

Explain to me how I've got it wrong, come one, put your money where your mouth is. Allez.

Tamatoa · 24/10/2017 15:09

Nah, I’m good watching. I might stretch to giving m4dad the odd fist-bump though.

inniu · 24/10/2017 15:09

If Britain is looking for retrospect payment for contribution to WWI and WWII in Brexit can Ireland have compensation for 700 years of oppression at the same time?

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:10

If Britain is looking for retrospect payment for contribution to WWI and WWII in Brexit

It's not.

Moussemoose · 24/10/2017 15:12

M4

You are very good at asking others to explain. When posters ask you to clarify, elucidate or back up your statements you get very offended.

We all await your detailed response to points made by pp.

QueenOfTheSardines · 24/10/2017 15:15

This thread was really interesting until it got derailed by this bloke spamming the board about the war and telling women to stop swearing.

Can't we just ignore him?

inniu · 24/10/2017 15:15

M4 dad than why did you bring WWI and WWII up? WWI was a result of jingoistic imperial pistes having a pudding contest and if led to WWII? The only people who are owed anything are the millio s of innocents caught up in them.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:15

@M4dad

Here you go AGAIN. Speaking out of your arse with zero knowledge.

I worked in Greece as an economic adviser to the Troika ... And in Spain: same role.

  1. the euro is an exercise in economic malfeasance. it assumes EU countries which have adopted it will work to improve their productivity at the same rate as Germans. Ain't gonna happen. In theory it's great though. It does force change as we have seen in Spain's labour market and in France. Italy is just a political disaster and labour market will not be changed. But that's ITALY'S CHOICE.

AND none of this renders the EU's single market and CU a bad thing. Completely different

  1. Greece lied to get in then falsified its accounts. The country has been mismanaged for centuries.

So Brussels is to blame for that (for letting them in, yes)?

The UK paid zero to support Greece. Zero. As is right - the euro is a bad idea which the UK has not participated in.

  1. Spain ... got massively greedy and built too many houses in stupid places. As did Ireland btw. Its cajas were run like municipal hedge funds - completely incompetent and corrupt. Again, I suppose Brussels / SM and CU are now a bad idea because of this.

Why? As a way of stating that we have contributed massively to the European project.
