Why do single mothers always make fathers day about them?

Why do single mothers always make fathers day about them??

You don't see single fathers jumping up and down shouting "happy mothers day to all the single fathers fulfilling both roles"

They’re asking you to support the sweeping statement you’ve made. You can’t so that’s end of that really.

I don’t think anyone is going to hanging around for two weeks to see your ‘proof’.

They've asked for it so I shall provide - it's up to them if they look or not. Ever heard of notifications? They don't need to keep looking.

Yep, I am :-) almost our 17th anniversary and we've been together 23 years so we're doing something right 😄

And she’s happy knowing you actively seek out predominantly female spaces to insult women?

Your self importance is staggering.

I'm not insulting anyone - if they chose to take it that way it's on them.

It's fathers day in just under two weeks - I shall return with proof - I'm going to scroll through a year of social media.

Have you not got anything better to do? Like, get a life?

Bristolandlazy · 08/06/2026 16:07

Why make posts with stupid sweeping generalisations that aren't true?

Probably because there’s more single mums filling both roles because of feckless sperm donars. I actually know a dad who has brought his children up from being small. When he broke up with his ex wife he realised he was gay. He got into a relationship with a man he is still with. They brought those children up together. His kids are adults now with children of their own. They are the ones who wish them happy Mother’s Day. Their mother also had a child with someone else. He spent more time in his half siblings home than his own mother’s house. His life at home with his mum wasn’t a happy one. He ended up living with them when the mother ended up in prison.

Nah, it's because we don't need one - same as "when's straight pride day" - i do actually acknowledge that.

Oh mate. You do have one. And men, lots of men, bitch about not having one every single year.

That’s not answering the question.

And no, if your behaviour is considered insulting by multiple people then it’s time to consider whether the problem might actually be you.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

White male persecution is hilarious, you don't even have to look hard to see we still have huge advantages.

I'm bored now, I've already answered you - if you chose not accept the answer that's on you.

You’ve avoided pretty much every question I’ve asked.

I get the feeling you don’t like being challenged.

Even if what you say is true, why does it matter? How does it impact your life in any way? That was the first question I asked. You didn’t answer.

What were you expecting from this thread?

SonK · 08/06/2026 16:14

I am a single mum and have never done this. Actually I dread it coming up as I left ex partner due to domestic abuse and don't know what to say to my baby and toddler once they start asking questions : (

hay5689 · 08/06/2026 16:15

I’ve seen this on my social media and it’s cringy. I’ve been a single mother myself and wouldn’t even think about doing it but some people have got to get the likes and attention somehow I guess.

Springtimeinsunshine · 08/06/2026 16:15

NEGUY82 · 08/06/2026 15:40

Come on, it's a friendly jibe - you must've noticed on the relationship board the term "LTB" comes up far too easily - like "he bought skimmed milk when I wanted semi skimmed" - the response is always "LTB" 😂I wonder if the women that put that have such impossibly high standards in their own relationships?

I'm obviously exaggerating but not much.

Edited

Please stay away from the Relationship board as you have zero understanding and/or empathy regarding women and abusive men. You've shown that by your responses on this thread.

But I'm out. Can't stand unpleasant men who think bantz is funny.

I know a couple of single mums who do this. A couple out of I dont know how many.
I also know a couple of single dads who do it on Mother's day. That's 100% of the single dads that I know.

Personally, as a single mum, Father's day is nothing to do with me. I'm not a father, and even though I'm doing all the parenting, im not doing the "job" of a Father. What does that even mean?

Well those single dads are lame too.

I’ll be back on this thread on Father’s Day for all the “screenies” OP is going to provide is with! Weird that he doesn’t have any at the moment, but is randomly thinking about it.

What's going on OP?

Are you from a single parent family?

Or bitter, projecting or attention-seeking or similar?

Dontcallmescarface · 08/06/2026 16:41

I think your mates at the skate park are waiting for you, and don't stay out later than 10pm or me and your dad will be having words. Now get off Mumsnet and tidy your room!!!!!
