Why do single mothers always make fathers day about them?

Why do single mothers always make fathers day about them??

You don't see single fathers jumping up and down shouting "happy mothers day to all the single fathers fulfilling both roles"

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Danikm151 · 08/06/2026 13:16

erm you do 😂

IsThisLifeNow · 08/06/2026 13:17

Because very few Dad's do 99%of the work like many mums do?

Well if they are lone mothers doing the job of both a mother and a father because the father has all but abandoned them I can understand why they would

TheLarkAscendingRose · 08/06/2026 13:18

They don't always make fathers day about them.

Username19893847477374 · 08/06/2026 13:18

🤣🤣🤣

TFitsfriday · 08/06/2026 13:18

Why do you care?

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 08/06/2026 13:19

Probably because there aren’t too many fathers fulfilling both roles. However I was brought up solely by my dad and I always bought him a token gift on Mother’s Day to acknowledge that he was both parents in my life

Floppyearedlab · 08/06/2026 13:19

My mum was a single mum and never did this.

I remember at Brownies when we had to make father’s day cards they handled it really sensitively and got me to make a ‘for someone special’ card.

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 08/06/2026 13:19

Also to add I’ve never personally known any woman make the day about them either!

Goblinmusic · 08/06/2026 13:20

I'm happy for any single fathers, who are actually fulfilling both roles, to jump up and down on mother's day.

SwishMyCape · 08/06/2026 13:20

I'm not a single mother.

I know several.

I've never seen anyone make father's day about them. (I'm not sure how a person would do this. Social media i suppose?)

As far as I'm concerned, single Mother's could have halloween & christmas too if they wanted. The ones I know are goddesses.

Overtheatlantic · 08/06/2026 13:20

LTB

TheWineoftheChicken · 08/06/2026 13:20
  1. I’ve never known any mother make Father’s Day ‘all about them’
  2. I know plenty of mothers who do 100% of the parenting, and very few father’s who do.
Larrythecatforpm · 08/06/2026 13:21

Because they want too? Either way YANBU.

LasersInTheJungle · 08/06/2026 13:21

I don't know any single mum who has ever done this.

Anyway I don't think making a comment on something is "making it all about them". That's quite a childish view of others.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 08/06/2026 13:21

I'm a single mother, I have never done this.

Dealdeal · 08/06/2026 13:21

Maybe the children want to do something for their mum for it for all different reasons including they don't want to feel like they're missing out.

shellyleppard · 08/06/2026 13:22

Absolute load of bollox

TheLarkAscendingRose · 08/06/2026 13:22

If a dad fulfills both roles people say how amazing he is. If a mum fulfills both roles they say she's a feckless single mum. I can see why mums fulfilling both roles might want to point this out. Although it's not true that single mums always do this

DaisyGivemeyouranswer · 08/06/2026 13:23

I feel like NEGUY82 has a story to tell.

DaisyGivemeyouranswer · 08/06/2026 13:24

Also, I am the child of a single mum and I have been a single mum. Never seen this happen.

NEGUY82 · 08/06/2026 13:29

I'm referring to social media mostly, it's always the ones that have made a "career" out of it - IE stay at homes mums on benefits.

I know several single dads and I've never known one do the reverse.
