How's your little one today @Avie29 after her fall yesterday? I tried to reply yesterday but realised we'd filled the chat again 😂

@Nclktnntt she is fine, like it never happened!, glad i bought a new first aid kit couple months ago, will need to restock the gauze now though, cant believe how much it bled, only a tiny cut lol xx

Nclktnntt · 19/01/2025 18:40

@Avie29 oh that's good to hear. I need to update our first aid box now you mention it!

I'm looking at getting a kitchen for our LO and turning it into a functioning kitchen - has anyone else done this? How did you find it? Xx

Oh what a lovely idea, my daughter (9) has a mud kitchen in the garden, has a hanging tub with a tap over the sink so she can fill it up with water and make mud pies and grass and flowers soup 😂 delicious haha, but a proper one indoors would be great, my LO already loves wandering around with my wooden spoon stirring empty pots n feeding people so may have to look into something similar for her 🤔 maybe buy a kids wooden kitchen and fit a water dispenser and mini fridge with fruit and veg for snacks, can buy kids safe chopping and cutting knifes & utensils now too so they could chop their own cucumbers/carrot sticks/apples etc for snacks and fill their own cups from the water dispenser 🤔 sounds like a lovely idea 👍🏻 xx

Nclktnntt · 20/01/2025 09:20

That's exactly it @Avie29 ive been looking at it for a bit, most people tansforn the ikea one into it but I've found this set and fell in love 😂 the kitchen station costs the same as the ikea one too. Turning it into a functioning sink isn't that hard either. I'll start by putting up just 2 bits and slowly grow his kitchen as he grows and becomes more curious/independent. I think around now we can start introducing pouring games so once they master that, a little drink station will be a must for sure.

On foods, does your little one eat an apple now - sliced / wedges of course? My little one can eat everything but I'm scared on harder things as he sometimes tries swallowing things while still 😳 xx

Yes she has managed to nab a apple out the fruit bowl when older siblings haven’t put it back properly lol, i give them to her whole (peeled) less chance of her taking off big chunks, she can only nibble with her front teeth then, softer fruits i chop up xx

99SR · 20/01/2025 22:02

Sorry to change the subject but does any one use pull ups instead of nappies?
I cannot deal with the nappy change battles! It’s driving me insane lol. She prefers to be standing when I take the old nappy off so thinking pull ups will be worth a shot? Where’s best for them? We use Aldi nappies but I’ve heard Aldi pull ups aren’t the best!

@Nclktnntt we don’t have a play kitchen, that’s on next years Christmas list lol!

@Avie29 love the mud kitchen. I work in a nursery and really see the benefits of them. I’ll defo be getting my daughter one for our garden when she’s a bit bigger! X

Avie29 · 21/01/2025 06:29

@99SR yes we’ve used pampers pull ups for last month or two, they are really good, not had any leaks, and yes does help with the nappy battle! Lol xx

Nclktnntt · 21/01/2025 10:54

Anyone's little ones transitioned/ing to 1 nap days? Any Tips? Our little one is point blank refusing his second nap meaning the last couple of days he's gone 6-8 hours before bed and night sleep hasn't been terrible but also not great. Last night was a bad night but he'd leaked so needed a nappy change and that was challenging. I'm trialling stretching his morning nap 15 mins every couple days but he stretched it himself today by 30 mins and was fighting (I think due to overtiredness as his morning nap is usually super easy).

Side question - are the pull ups good at night? I'm desperate to find a nappy over night that doesn't leak, I think because he's a side and front sleeper he's more prone to leaks but it means he wakes for around 2 hours in the night 😥

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all well x

@Nclktnntt we’ve been down to 1 nap since about 9 months. some days are just relentless because he’ll only have a second nap if we’re going far in the car🫠 but I just let him have as long as he wants, some days can be just over an hour, others it can be closer to 2.5

we’ve been using pull ups for a while too and pampers are definitely the best for over night but do start to leak. my lb sleeps on his front too, so I’ve been buying tescos own brand for over night and doubling them up

99SR · 22/01/2025 10:53

were still on two naps but not sure what’s going on with her sleep. Past two nights she’s had a split night and been awake for 3/4 hours! Slowly killing me lol. She’s screaming every time I leave the room, maybe a bit of separation anxiety since I went back to work!?

going to get some pull ups today. Let you all know how I get on

Avie29 · 22/01/2025 18:24

On 1 nap days for month or so now, she generally has a nap between 11-1:30 ish before lunch, so has 5 hours awake before nap and 5-6 hour awake before bed xx

Try putting the nappy on backwards for bedtime if they sleep on their front, the padding comes further up the back than it does the front xx

Thanks guys will try these suggestions and fingers crossed we get more dry nights 🤞

Anyone's little ones having full on melt downs when being put in the car seat? And is it a phase or is something wrong or does he need a new seat? I'm thinking maybe the latter.

Now, we put our LO in his seat in the house and carry him out - he's totally fine and even happy to get in it, he does try pushing the shoulder bits up (so I'm wondering if he's ready for the next seat) anyway, going anywhere he's totally fine and happy to go... when being put back in his seat after being wherever we've just been, he will not go in, arching and pushing out, screaming & crying, it's so stressful and he cries and screams the whole way home and he's not a cryer so it's incredibly stressful but I can't stop and get him out because he wouldn't go back in again😭 any advice?

@Nclktnntt firstly well done on carrying bub in the car seat haha that’s a work out! My LG was a bit like that, we ended up buying her a new car seat. She is a bit better but still not 100% content 🤣 the shape of the new car seat stops her from bucking out if that makes sense? She can also see out the window now which settles her a bit!

Nclktnntt · 23/01/2025 13:25

He's 10kg now so it's definitely at the stage of the seat staying in the car 😂.

I'm looking into the next car seat as I really think this is the issue, it's only been the last few weeks where very occasionally it was a thing but he quickly settled to the last 2 weeks every single time. His seats designed for upto 13kg but I think he's outgrown it now, even though he's nowhere near the weight range, I can't see him getting another 2.5kg worth of time out of it at all!

99SR · 23/01/2025 13:39

@Nclktnntt that was like us, she can still use the other one so we put that one in dads car and we put the new one in my car!

Nclktnntt · 23/01/2025 19:16

@99SR if you don't mind me asking - which car seat did you go for?

OP posts:
Avie29 · 24/01/2025 07:03

@Nclktnntt my lg was like this, we bought a new carseat in the end too xx

Nclktnntt · 24/01/2025 21:05

@99SR if not seen that one, thank you. I've been looking at the maxicosi ones - it's so confusing on their site though , I already have a base so it's difficult to figure out which seats come with a base attached and which can be put on your base 🙈

OP posts:
99SR · 24/01/2025 22:31

@Nclktnntt i had that issue too but to my knowledge they all come with isofix fittings so you don’t require a base! We had the cybex car seat with iso fix base as our last one so thought I would use that base again but you don’t need to! If that makes sense x
