@99SR ahhhh that'll explain my confusion then lol. I can seats that go upto 4 years and those that grow to 12yrs ish and I'm thinking surely the later is more cost effective?

Also can we talk tantrums and the sheer blatant defiance 😂😂 or is this just my little one. He knows full well not to put the building blocks in his mouth yet he does and looks right at you whilst pushing it into his mouth ... like seriously 🤣.

@Avie29 that's so cute! My little one was heading towards the stair gate that was open and I said 'oh we left that open didn't we, can you close it for me please' he stops, turned to look at me, said 'na' and carried on 😂 I actually burst out laughing.

@Nclktnntt its so cute when they know they being cheeky lol dd does similar with the stairgate, she will see its open and start walking towards it and we will go “hey get back here” she will giggle and start running away from us to get to the stairgate before us lol xx

They're just too cute with things like that arnt they 😂 we were at my parents this weekend and my dad found it hilarious when I said 'I'm just cleaning you bib in here ok' and LO replies 'no' 😂😂

this weekend has been better with the car seat issues thankfully, he's still not happy but no major melt downs. Going to check new seats out this week though as I really do think it's a comfort issue now, he gets in it and happy to go somewhere then pushes and stretches then wants out. So hopefully a new seat is the answer 🤞.

Haha im lucky atm my LO hasn’t learnt the word no yet, everything is yea lol we say no she says yea lol xx

99SR · 28/01/2025 18:45

My little girls not saying no or yes yet but she sure does know how to shake her head to tell us she doesn’t want something 🤣

Nclktnntt · 28/01/2025 21:03

@99SR that so cute. My little one starts throwing food around when he's had enough 😂, I'm trying to teach him a gesture to show he's finished instead. Although I think today he started to try saying done. It wasn't when he was eating, I forget what he was doing but d words arnt in his vocabulary yet and he kept repeating doh doh doh and waving his arms.

@Avie29 my little one doesn't really say yes 😂 he knows it, but the only time he says it (and in a fashion, not super clear yet) is when he wants to take his nappy to the bin and we ask if that's what he wants to do... long may he be excited to carry his own crap to the bin 😂😂🤞

Haha will have to try that with my LO, she loves putting stuff in the bin- not what we want in the bin usually, weve had toys, pens, a baby doll, books etc, my LO tips her plate up and tries to clear her tray of food (by putting it all in her lap or on the floor haha) when she is finished eating, although she does love having a baby wipe to clean her tray off after haha and likes wiping the floor if she gets hold of a tea towel (must see mum n dad do it alot haha) long may she like cleaning haha xx

Beans1982 · 29/01/2025 20:59

Sorry I missed the new thread and this is a v.long reply! It's all happening with our LO's now.

Naps - we're still on 2 naps but today he refused his afternoon nap - to the point of screaming and crying, so he was awake for just over 7 hours before I finally got him to sleep around 7.15pm.
He's tried to refuse the afternoon nap before but eventually he'd fall asleep at around 5pm ish (not great timing being close to bedtime).

We've got the 12/13 month vaccinations tomorrow (originally due to have them beginning of Jan but the GP surgery forgot to tell us 🤔). How did your LO's get on after their jabs? Wondering if I'll need to take calpol with me for these ones.

My LO's character is definitely coming out now. He really enjoys the freedom of running around the house and exploring all the corners he can hide in. He's not quite grasped the concept of hide and seek yet though, as he giggles and pokes his head out as soon as I ask where he is, it's so cute 😁
We have a mix of three languages in our house, so we're getting a range of words and sounds. The kitchen bin is too much of a temptation for him to pass without touching but we've taught him that its 'ach' (closest word in English is Ugh) so everytime he passes it he stops, looks at it, and shouts 'ach' before he carries on walking Lol.

Experienced a few temper tantrums recently as well. Really hates lying down to have his nappy changed and when I put him in his sleep sack for a nap/bedtime.
He's 99.9% of the time such a happy and content little boy, but now he's really starting to express when he doesn't like something.
Also started to resist being put in his highchair, he'll fight to put his legs through the opening of his chair. It's only after several attempts that I finally manage to get him to sit down properly.

@Nclktnntt my LO sleeps on his belly all the time, Tesco's Fred & Flo nappies have been great for us so far. I find going up a size in nappy overnight avoids leaks, not had any since I've been doing this.

Nclktnntt · 30/01/2025 21:57

We've got our 12 month vaccines next week as our LO was ill all over new year and his birthday with bronchiolitis and I wanted him to be well when he had them.

I used pull ups last night (was scared in case they leaked more but then he woke yesterday morning soaked through so I figured it'd make no difference 😂) they worked amazingly! So night 2 and hopefully same result tomorrow morning.

@Beans1982our LO is fighting getting in the high chair too, I give him food to hold/eat while I put him in and it seems to work.

Our LO has finally mastered getting into the draws in the kitchen (they require him to put a bit of body weight and strength in his pull so have took him a minute to master them) anyways I've had to move all the non safe items and set him up his own drawer that's ok for him to empty 😂😂.

Day 2 of pull ups overnight and he's slept through both nights, woke up dry - this is a revolution 😂🥰 I can't believe I stuck it out so long with the other bloody nappies 😂

Heya @Beans1982 how did your little one do with their 12 month vaccines ?

OP posts:
99SR · 02/02/2025 20:59

@Nclktnntt my LG got her injections on the 6th January. She was actually fine!! 11 days later (right on schedule according to the leaflet lol) she got a rash all over her body and a temp and was generally pretty miserable! That lasted two/three days then she was fine. Think they said that’s the measles part of the jag and means their body is responding appropriately to it!

Beans1982 · 02/02/2025 21:35

Hey @Nclktnntt Glad to hear the pull ups have been working for you, I might have to give them a try for my LO!
Good tip regarding the highchair, I'll have to try that next time I'm battling with my LO.
Hope the vaccinations go alright for your LO.

My LO's injections were a bit brutal, didn't realise he'd be having four injections! Had a nurse each side of him, two injections into each thigh (they were very much about speed and not about being gentle). He settled down pretty quickly after a good cry though. He's not been 100% himself since, a bit off his food, a lot more clingy, and the first two nights after jabs he woke up in the middle of the night crying and needed extra cuddles to resettle but otherwise he's been ok.

@99SR I didn't even get a leaflet...they just told me he might get a rash about a week after injections, so it's good to know that it should be around 11 days.
Did you apply any kind of lotion/cream for your LO's rash or is it okay just to leave it to work its way out of the body do you know?

99SR · 03/02/2025 06:44

@Beans1982 oh no that sounds brutal. To be honest my little girl was a bit clingy too actually but this was also my first day back at work so I just thought it was a mixture of things for her! Hopefully he’s back to himself soon for you. I don’t even have the leaflet anymore or i would have sent a pic. I just completely left the rash and it went away on its own after 2/3 days. When I first seen it I got a fright cos it was everywhere. I gave her calpol for the temp she had though.

Nclktnntt · 06/02/2025 20:08

I got my dates mixed up, our LO's are next week 🙈 good to know what to expect thank you.

Our new car seat arrived today and we had a trip to the supermarket- he was totally fine, actually happy to go in it and climbed in himself. I ended up having to go to a second supermarket and I normally avoid that due to how he'd kick off, but he was happy and chilled in his bigger boy seat 💪

we have our LO vaccinations next week 🥺.
we ordered her first pair of shoes yesterday, she will have to practice walking in them indoors for a little while but soon be able to have a little walk outside, she is desperate to get out her buggy lol xx

99SR · 07/02/2025 12:48

Goodluck with all the vaccinations!

@Avie29 my LG not a fan of the pram either haha have to bribe her with snacks.

not sure if you remember me saying (I’ve mentioned it enough 🤣😭) we are experiencing split nights again!!!!! I feel like I’m being tortured haha. Not sure if it’s still teething, separation anxiety from me going back to work or developmental because she’s learned to walk (albeit not confidently). Can I share our daily routine and you can say if you think I need to tweak it?

6-7.30 wake up
8ish breakfast
9-10 nap for 20 mins try to have this on the go ie in the car and always awake for 10.30
11.45/12ish lunch
1.30-3.30 nap
6.45 bath
7.30 books/bottle bed
8-8.15 asleep

thanks!

Nclktnntt · 07/02/2025 20:03

@99SR how long is your LO waking in the night for?

We had a phase when our LO had started walking but not confident, he was also trying to speak a few more words and there definitely was some separation anxiety going on as I could even go to the toilet at times, and he was waking for anything from 20-120 mins at night, I think 3-4 hours was the worst night ever! But he would be tired, falling back asleep but the minute I tried to put him down - eyes would open and he'd start crying, but he was definitely asleep!.

Anyway, I can't remember how long it lasted, was definitely a couple weeks at least, but he has started sleeping through again recently, last night not included 😂 he did also drop a nap, maybe your LO is getting ready to drop a nap?

We haven't got the daytime sleep down yet, he'll sometimes sleep for 50 mins and other times for 2 hours average time is 1hr 15. I'm trying to work out if he occasionally needs 2 naps or if the first wake window needs to be longer or shorter. It's such a guessing game isn't it 🙈

My LO has gotten into the habit of falling asleep on the bottle which I'm now trying to get him out of again. I selfishly like the simple sit down drink, cuddle and in bed you go though, instead of pacing up and down and rocking. So all that to not be of much help 😂😂

No help here @99SR my LO is still waking every 2-3 hours at night 🤦🏻‍♀️ xx

99SR · 08/02/2025 08:29

@Nclktnntt 3hrs!!! No matter what we try. Last night was 10.30-1.30am. Yeah we had them when she started crawling too but it seems like it’s lasting longer this time ☹️ anyway I have a sleep consultant phoning me today haha. Seems a bit drastic but Im struggling to cope, I’m also worried it’s became a habit because of how I’m responding to her?

@Avie29 oh no I really feel for you ☹️ are you breast feeding? X

we get the odd occasion where she will be up for hours but thankfully not often, yes still breastfeeding, i haven’t got the energy to stop at the moment 😂 she would be up for hours every night if i stopped breastfeeding, at the moment she wakes every 2-3 hours but i pop her on the breast and she goes back to sleep no problem, need to stop really but too tired haha xx
