Hey 👋 yea we have gone a bit backwards with the potty/toilet training here too, she started off great last summer been using the potty for wee and poo, but last couple months just been weeing by the toilet door 🤔 not trying to get in and too late -just sitting down and weeing, we have gone back a step with her and popped her back in nappies, hoping she gets a dislike for them again and starts using the potty again, so far so good, she will take her nappy off sometimes and wee in the potty or just wee in the nappy which either way we aren’t going through copious amounts of clothes lol 🤦🏻‍♀️, hoping with the warmer weather again and being able to run around with no bottoms will help kickstart the potty training again and she is older now so hopefully no steps backwards after xx

Hi @Avie29thank you for responding - so we’ve had another breakthrough. I started paying really close attention to his signals and the minute I spotted it I say ‘looks like your body is showing signs of needing a wee/poo, let’s go sit on the toilet / let’s go help your body wee/poo in the toilet. Something along those lines and we’re back to using the toilet (he runs past saying my body is telling me) 🥹 the accidents now are if he’s waited a little too long and I missed the sign. But we now have a very boy related issue where he sits on the toilet only for it to be pointing up the way and go up and over the toilet onto his clothes anyway 🙈. So still lots of washing but at least most toilet needs are making it to the toilet.

how are you guys? I really want to do lots in the garden this year to turn the garden into a child’s play area. He had a mud kitchen but I wanna do a bigger area of just mess and stuff like that. At the moment it needs a lot of work and I feel it doesn’t really resemble a child’s garden lol

@Nclktnntt we are still hit and miss but we have been on holiday and out everyday so she has been in nappies alot this last week, she does have signs that she needs to go but when we say “oh time for potty/toilet” she will go to potty/toilet but not do anything and then have an accident 5 minutes later 🤦🏻‍♀️ tbh my older daughter went through this because she liked changing her clothes all the time, im pretty sure you can buy specifically boys toilet seats for that issue lol.
we have bought a slide and a wendy house for our DD, the wendy house has a little kitchen attached, we do have a mud kitchen attached to the wall in our garden but it was bought for our older daughter and its too high for DD, we built a big decking and built 2 bedrooms in summer houses for our eldest 2 so not alot of room in our garden now xx

@Avie29His toilet seat does have a bit that curves up to catch the boys but he likes to sit right back and aim it over 🙈 he’s also started trying to stand which is 90% successful. some days are definitely better than others.

we hve a mud kitchen but i want to make a bigger one (more space on it) we have a bunch of pallets i can use and large metal container that im thinking of chopping in half and using as a table and side unit or something. Not really decided yet on that one. I want a bigger slide for him and a climbing frame too. I got a play house of market place that needs a little paint work and putting back together and with the nice weather coming, I plan to do painting work over the next week. Once I’ve cleared the area in the garden ready lol.

we have old tyres and I’m thinking of ways I can use those too. Paint them and have them as planters, tables, climbing area. Not sure yet but I have ideas 😂

@Nclktnntt we have mastered the potty, no accidents for just over a week, she has even come all the way from upstairs to use the potty.
Dd has developed a fear of flies or any bug that flys🤦🏻‍♀️ so doesn’t spend as much time in the garden as she used to, she likes ants though 🤷🏻‍♀️ she keeps saying the flies are going in her ear 😂
i have even gotten the ear camera out and showed her there are no flies in her ear 😂 hopefully she will get over it soon or atleast before summer holidays.
sounds like your DC are going to be having loads of fun in the garden this summer!

Nclktnntt · 14/05/2026 21:32

@Avie29ahhh amazing! That’s fantastic. my ds has mastered it … as in he can hold for hours when he wants too. But there are times he just goes in his pants and trousers and doesn’t seem bothered. I don’t know if he’s just testing how long he can go, but we don’t have accidents when out and about only at home.

awww bless her! I wonder if one flew really close to her ear and that’s freaked her out a little maybe?

the pallet mud kitchen has now been built and put together and sanded but needs painting still. So does the play house. I hoped to have gotten more done but getting outside takes ages! Never manage to get out the back door before 10qm and then it’s snack time, usually an accident (have also thought it’s an attention thing maybe 🤷‍♀️)as it’s always when I’m either doing something in the garden or cooking or something like that.

he’s also been super clingy the past few days, I think we’re in the final stages of those back teeth coming in and I’m blaming those, naps and bedtimes all over the place too just now.

@Nclktnntt i never even thought of that 🤦🏻‍♀️ my DD been really clingy last couple days too, i thought she might have been getting poorly.
My DD hasn’t napped in the day since 20months ish 🫩 and still wakes up several times in the night, really need to stop breastfeeding in the night (she doesn’t in the day or at bedtime) but im too tired but she would probably sleep better but im too tired and round we go 😂
yes very hard to find the time to squeeze anything in without a little gremlin following you around wanting to “help”, DD “helped” me make bread today 🤦🏻‍♀️ flour everywhere, gooey dough stuck to her fingers, top and the bottom of her shoes 😂 then decided to put her lunch in her hair so middle of the day bath before school run, there is just no time is there.
Yea i said to OH they are probably flying past her ear and she can hear the buzzing and thinks they are flying in there, we have given her a spray bottle filled with water and tell her to squirt them, seems to make her feel braver 😂.

@Avie29my Son fights his naps every so many months and it always seems to coincide with a developmental leap of some sort. Usually his speech. He amazes me everyday.

today he stopped eating and I gave him a bit of chicken off my fork to which he had then handed me his fork to put the chicken on for him (he can do it himself no problem) so i said ‘are you being lazy’ he said yea and repeated it a couple times (sounds awful saying back now but it was jovial) anyway, he then asked ‘what’s lazy mean’ which I told him was a good question and then had to try and explain what it actually meant in the context I meant it 😂.

sometimes I have to remind myself he’s 2 lol.

@Nclktnntt i know what you mean, my DD was a bit late with speech she only really started talking these last 2 months but shes just exploded, half the time she says something now and im like where did you learn that? How do you know that? You’ve only been talking for 2 months! Lol.
there is something new and amazing everyday at the moment its hard to keep up.
Last week i was getting her brothers school bag sorted and asked her where his water bottle had gone (i had seen her with it earlier that morning) i didn’t expect her to reply to be honest but she goes “in the living room” and went and got it for me, i didn’t even know she knew different room names let alone say them lol.
She is growing up so fast, and she is my last so its bitter sweet, I can’t wait for her to do new things but also want her to stay a baby 😂 .

Nclktnntt · 29/05/2026 21:55

@Avie29so sorry for the delayed reply - this new app layout is confusing me , I see my part first so didn’t realised you’d replied 🙈

my sons make believe play is amazing just now. He’s constantly pretending something is something else or just handing me ‘air’ and telling me it’s something. He even swaps hands if he needs too whilst holding his pretend item 😂.

ive booked us to go to a new group where we get to see and learn about different animals each week and do arts & crafts and sensory themes around that animal. Anyway ill see how this term goes as its for 3-5 yrs and I’m not sure how it’ll be with him being one of the youngest in the group. He loves his sensory group though because he gets to see his ‘friends’ so we’ll see.

@Nclktnntt we don’t go to any baby/toddler groups but she has plenty of people to play with at home, its lovely watching them play isn’t it, my older kids (teens) are either out all day or on their consoles so i forgot how lovely it is to see their imagination at work, its also lovely to see my teens are still capable of imaginative play when they play with her haha 😂.
her favourite game at the moment is getting a shark teddy and ‘scaring’ me with it and then stroking the shark and going “see? Its nice” to coax me closer and then going “dun dun dun” (jaws tune) and i have to run to the ‘boat’ (washing basket) before it eats me lol then she goes “your turn” and i am the shark 😂.
or cooking me Gumbo but either putting too much pepper in to make me sneeze or too much salt to make me go uurrrgghh! And telling me to “blow, hot!”.
I think we may be the only ones left on this thread 😂.
