Parenting

there are many threads here preaching a 'holier than thou' message, and I want to say.........

......I am not perfect, I am not the greatest mum ever (altho I really would like to be able to say I am), and I am also not the best person to ask for advice on feeding kiddies the 'perfect' diet........

there are many threads here stating how we feed our DC's, treat out DC's, raise our DC's, and for the most part we all agree....

but surely.....(and I speak a lot for myself here)

sometimes we also LIE!!!

I have my standards, and 75% of the time I try to stick to them, but 25% of the time I either fail, or take my time remembering and so parenting cana be a little slack in these periods.

BUT

when there are threads here, I give advice and sometimes realise that I have 'twisted' the truth somewhat in my favour......

I don;t give my kiddies as much veg as I claim at times....or at least...I find I offer said veg, just they refuse it and it ends in the bin. (Altho that is not the post I would add at times)'

I offer fruit each day....only 3 of them eat with any enjoyment, and the other 2 have suplements.

I give them chocolate every day, and icecream, and pudding (well, that comes under the icecream TBH), they have crisps too most days...........

I have smacked them (altho sinse being here more, I haven;t and even DD1 said the other day that she can;t remember me ever smacking altho I still threaten it for the 'count to three' threat. It works, as I have never got to 3...!

I even allow a take-away each week.....

Oh, and as for chicken.....no idea where it comes from, altho that will be changing soon as the taste is definatley different as I have tested

and...............I drive to school......

please tell me I haven't confessed all and am now going to be pelted with stones....

Can I just say - how fucking refreshing

Cheers Psychomum - from one not perfect Mum to another.

I am sitting here in a towel and wet hair, contemplating a little ciggie (outside of course) and wondering whether the cigarette police (aka DD2) will give special dispensation as it's Mothering Sunday

Morning!!

To all those ladies who got a lie in this morning......LUCKY COWS.

I was kept awake most of the night by screaming baby then forced out of bed at 6.20 by Ds2 who was waving a box of rice crispies over my head(alarming I know) Little cherub had got up, gone downstairs and got cereal from kitchen then decided to bring it to me so I would be forced into getting him breakfast or I would end up in a nice crunchy bed for the rest of the morning.

Havent got a card yet, Ds1 has gone away for wk end with his dad but he will no doubt have got one(i hope)BUT got equally nice surprise....baby has first tooth!!! Hurrah, after weeks of gnawing everything in sight and drooling like a rabid dog he now has first toothy peg and it came on Mothers day.

Hope you all have a nice peacefull day.

well.......you get drunk, you laugh lots, and you learn to eye-roll as good as them!!!

you also embarrass them so much they walk behind you when out so the parenting isn't needed

Oooop........the first bit you already do, so you will be well practised by the time they hit their teens

I don't have a microwave, but the kdsi did have fishfingers and oven chips last night cos I couldnt be bothered to cook.
They also had tons of popcorn and snickers bars at the theatre on friday.
And even though I'm 35wks pg I had two cans of lager last night
Sometimes DD wears the same tights to school two days running, but that's her own fault she puts holes in them so quick.
Also......expat! Congratulations! I really hope it all works out well this time

Psychomum5 · 02/03/2008 12:47

well done VS, and welcome

fishfingers are good food, never feel guilty for them. and chips are not bad either........you could have fed them much worse!! Chips from Macdonalds for instance!!!

at the 'mankyd's' word......so true!!!

(altho how on earth is it sooooooo nice too??? one of the mysteries of the universe I feel)

lol at the huge tub of sweets too. my kiddies told boys recently at how bad I am cos I won;t allow them 'sweeties', 'just' chocolate.

they love their grandma 100x more now as she arrived home from her hols recently with a bag of swizzle sweets, and then apologized profusely when she saw my face.....( as it must have been very off). sweeties on top of fridge still tho, as they are too scared to ask for some!!

they may be allowed some today, they are being so lovely

Ok deep breath in:

I give my Ds fish fingers. I cant get him to eat a vegetable in my defence he likes some fruits).

I watch far too much TV (including rubbish talk shows) and spend way to much time on MN.

I eat Nutella on toast and eat crisps daily.

We have had Macdonald's and eat too much takeaway.

pheeeeeeeeeeeewww!

well done and welcome to you too.

am beginning to feel like a confessional (is that a word?), and feel like dishing out...

now, for this you may --beat- yourself with big sticks, have 4 glasses of your fave wine/alcohol of choice.
