Parenting

there are many threads here preaching a 'holier than thou' message, and I want to say.........

......I am not perfect, I am not the greatest mum ever (altho I really would like to be able to say I am), and I am also not the best person to ask for advice on feeding kiddies the 'perfect' diet........

there are many threads here stating how we feed our DC's, treat out DC's, raise our DC's, and for the most part we all agree....

but surely.....(and I speak a lot for myself here)

sometimes we also LIE!!!

I have my standards, and 75% of the time I try to stick to them, but 25% of the time I either fail, or take my time remembering and so parenting cana be a little slack in these periods.

BUT

when there are threads here, I give advice and sometimes realise that I have 'twisted' the truth somewhat in my favour......

I don;t give my kiddies as much veg as I claim at times....or at least...I find I offer said veg, just they refuse it and it ends in the bin. (Altho that is not the post I would add at times)'

I offer fruit each day....only 3 of them eat with any enjoyment, and the other 2 have suplements.

I give them chocolate every day, and icecream, and pudding (well, that comes under the icecream TBH), they have crisps too most days...........

I have smacked them (altho sinse being here more, I haven;t and even DD1 said the other day that she can;t remember me ever smacking altho I still threaten it for the 'count to three' threat. It works, as I have never got to 3...!

I even allow a take-away each week.....

Oh, and as for chicken.....no idea where it comes from, altho that will be changing soon as the taste is definatley different as I have tested

and...............I drive to school......

please tell me I haven't confessed all and am now going to be pelted with stones....

Lol at cantseemyfeet!

I give my ds pocket money too. Not for his slavery though,(he hasnt caught onto that yet!)just general pocket money. Sometimes i feel guilty, but then i remind myself that did everything for him for 8 yrs! Its time he rewarded me by helping with the baby

pyscho - would you throw something at me if I told you that my big girls actually ask to take the baby downstairs with them so they can play with her at the weekends so dh and I get a lie in?

Thanks carmen,

Glad to know I am not being a total soft touch and to be fair he does help a lot sometimes, I have 2 little ones and he is great with both of them. Ds2 is like Taz at the moment, he just whirls round a room and destroys it in seconds and its Ds1 who picks it up if im busy with baby.
I justify it by telling him he is getting great practice for when he is a dad, he answers by telling me he will have a great job by then and will have a cleaner and a nanny!!! How naive they are at that age!!!

Awww Northern thats lovely. Big girls are so sweet. My Ds1 has offered to do that for me before but I fear I would come downstairs to find Ds2 has shoved frosties up babies nostrils and has attempted to decorate him with my make up (he is going through a make up phase at the moment, his hair is constantly clogged up with foundation)

Cantseemyfeet.

My ds1 says he isnt having kids(dont they all?), but he is getting a BMW convertible with an England number plate. Obviously we are not chavs

Seriously though, although he can can be a little bugger, he is a great help with ds2. I really dont know how i would get out the house in the mornings without him holding/watching ds2 for me while i do other stuff.

well.....I would if I hadn;t already taught my kiddies that going down and making mummy a cup of coffee is the quickest way for a smile in the morning (as is the lookin after the boys when they need it), and they listened and DID.

of course.....girls are now teens/pre-teens (and so sleep like logs till late), boys now 7 + 5 and they sort themselves out while the drunks parents lie-in to their hearts content almost every sunday now

(I miss the coffee tho....altho DH and I fight over who makes it now whcih makes things interesting)

Oh i look forward to the time time i can lie in bed hungover whilst kids wait on me hand and foot. I was sort of getting there with ds1(aged 8), but then i went and had another kid.

And psycho your kids look adorable. How nice to have a big family.

I really want another one, although sometimes i have wondered if this is a good thing as we will still have babies when most peoples have pretty much grown up. Then a close friend reminded me how lovely our house will be and full of laughter and fun which will keep us young. It really brought a tear to my eye

Hey happy mothers day!!

Just realised what time it is. Im so looking forward to lying in bed and having breakfast brought to me then getting dozens of wonderful presents!!!
In the real world I will be up by 6 because either baby will be wanting feeding or I have been forced up by 3 year old who has ignored my attempts to play dead and pulled my eyelids open whilst shouting "mammy wake, shrek on then bekfast" Oh a girl can dream.
Have a great day anyway

HAPPY MOTHERS EVERYONE

Cant be any worse than the racket in our house with ds1(big gob/show off) and the baby(normal) and the seriously weird dog(barks too much/too boisterous etc).Even worse when stepson/nephew/step cousins come(all boys unfortunately)

I bet its no noisier than yours

at the moment, mine is almost silent.......

of course, silence is rather dangerous so am a teensy bit worried

unless daddy has threatened them that much so I have peace, that they have turned mute.....

I wash my hair about once a week (Although it gets a good old soak in the shower every day)

I wear flat boots/trainers/crocs/birkies

I still mean my childhood home when I refer to 'home' - left when I was 20, 41 now.

Glad to get that off my chest

at having to buy you own card.......

I got many drawings from my kiddies, including one of a smily face altho the face has no eyes(this was from DS2). not sure why, am scared to ask......

DH now at tesco getting the roasty stuff for tonight, DD2 and DS1 at church parade with scouts and beavers, DD1, DD3 and DS2 downstairs maiking me things out of magnetix which I have to gush over when they bring them and show me, even tho halfway up the stairs they invariabley trip and drop half the magnets so what they make, and what I SEE, are worlds apart!!!!

see........am in no way perfect today, as if I were, I would be down with them so as they wouldn't have to climb and drop!
