Parenting

there are many threads here preaching a 'holier than thou' message, and I want to say.........

......I am not perfect, I am not the greatest mum ever (altho I really would like to be able to say I am), and I am also not the best person to ask for advice on feeding kiddies the 'perfect' diet........

there are many threads here stating how we feed our DC's, treat out DC's, raise our DC's, and for the most part we all agree....

but surely.....(and I speak a lot for myself here)

sometimes we also LIE!!!

I have my standards, and 75% of the time I try to stick to them, but 25% of the time I either fail, or take my time remembering and so parenting cana be a little slack in these periods.

BUT

when there are threads here, I give advice and sometimes realise that I have 'twisted' the truth somewhat in my favour......

I don;t give my kiddies as much veg as I claim at times....or at least...I find I offer said veg, just they refuse it and it ends in the bin. (Altho that is not the post I would add at times)'

I offer fruit each day....only 3 of them eat with any enjoyment, and the other 2 have suplements.

I give them chocolate every day, and icecream, and pudding (well, that comes under the icecream TBH), they have crisps too most days...........

I have smacked them (altho sinse being here more, I haven;t and even DD1 said the other day that she can;t remember me ever smacking altho I still threaten it for the 'count to three' threat. It works, as I have never got to 3...!

I even allow a take-away each week.....

Oh, and as for chicken.....no idea where it comes from, altho that will be changing soon as the taste is definatley different as I have tested

and...............I drive to school......

please tell me I haven't confessed all and am now going to be pelted with stones....

yesterday, DH picked up this 26-bag of Walker's on his way home from work.

and we left them out in the living room.

DD2 carried them in to me this morning, saying, 'crisps!'

A jar? Did you really want to reveal that info expat? I'm sure MNHQ will have the thread deleted for you - you might regret it in the morning.

I send my daughter to the childminders with a lunchbox containing a banana, some raisens, a stick of cheese, sometimes strawberries / a mango and a yoghurt. She eats porridge for her breakfast and has healthy dinners.

She eats lots of fruits and vegs, and also loves rice, pasta and noodles.

It isn't because I'm an excellent mother, its because my daughter is an oddball when it comes to food

Therefore I see no problem with her having a few sweets or a piece of chocolate in the evening.

We walk a lot, she prefers to walk rather than be in the pram, we play catch and hide and seek in the house when it is cold, we play and run outside when it is warmer.

So I see no problem with her sitting down to watch Diago / Dora.

I work full time and so if dinner means spag bol is made with a ready made sauce, so be it

I'm getting totally over-excited here - I don't wear make up or heels either! I weaned at 18 weeks and I never seem to find time to read the blithering ORT books my daughter is forced to bring home!

Lol at psycho. God, how i agree.

My ds has pudding everyday but to be fair, its usually yogurt in the week and what he wants Fri, Sat, Sun!Dont mind one bit if he wants choc bar or crisps.

I dont drive though and i do have a conscience regarding chicken, buit i have been a veggie for about 30 odd yrs so im entitled to be fussy on this.

What's wrong with rice in the microwave?? Only way I know how to get it neither soggy nor hard as bullets. Or alternatively, welded to the bottom of the pan.

expatinscotland · 01/03/2008 23:31

oh, yes, i even do porridge that way, too, lurker.

from those sachets you get in Lidl.

is it porridge or ready brek though? It's ready brek in our house although (confesson alert) I describe it as porridge when talking about baby feeding
