Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AprilShowers223 · 30/03/2023 13:48

Why are you having to go job centre? Is it because you’re not working enough hours?

Seher955 · 30/03/2023 14:03

I work 10 hours a week im a single mum and was on fortnightly apps, I was told to change my circumstances and I didnt have to attend the JC for about 2 weeks until they done all their checks and now they are saying I need to go weekly because I came off of the system? I just dont understand, 10 hours may not seem a lot but im doing my best that I can all whilst caring for my 8 year old DD aswell and my 5 year old, but because shes still waiting to hear back from DLA I now need to go in weekly. Its just ridiculous, they put so much pressure on you im doing the best that I possibly can.

AprilShowers223 · 30/03/2023 19:23

Im a single mum too, they expect you to do it all it’s not realistic. Hopefully if you get DLA they’ll let you just quit and be on carers allowance

@Mummytolittleones92 it is but don't be put off by what the school says, it's common for Asd kids to present differently at home thats his safe space and a place where he feels able to unload. If school don't refer you can self refer through your GP x

Thank you :) The SEN teacher at my sons school has agreed to refer him to the paediatrician and has said she’ll fully support us. Do I send evidence of that referral with my claim to support it?

Yes lovely send anything you have, the more the better. Ask the senco for a letter on headed paper too and send that, you can always apply and send stuff afterwards if letters or reports come through while your waiting on a reply x

Mumof5123 · 31/03/2023 12:36

Hi, I’m new to this but my scan date is the 3/1/2023 has anyone been awarded with the same scan date?

MrsA15 · 31/03/2023 12:49

Just had a phone call from the decision maker to double check if she could get my little boy a higher rate. I don’t know if I’m just sceptical but she was so nice which is what I didn’t expect!! He’s been awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility which I’m happy with. It’s 14 weeks and 1 day since his scan date.

Hope everyone is getting good outcomes today!!

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 31/03/2023 14:45

Hi everyone commenting so i can keep up with notifications, my daughters form was scanned on the 16th febuary so have a while left to go but the wait is already causing me so much anxiety! Good luck with everyone who is due decisions soon :) x

Lodol · 31/03/2023 14:56

Congratulations! And so nice of them to try to see if a higher rate can be given

can I ask what evidence you sent in and what was your scan date?

Robertah94 · 31/03/2023 16:43

I’m a little worrier, so rang up today to see where my sons claim at (recieved 5th Jan, so just past 12 week mark) lovely lady answered, was just told not been looked at yet, and most likely done closer to current claim end date and to ring back then, but not to expect it to be done by then, current claim ends in 3 weeks. 😩

Brown2010 · 31/03/2023 17:51

@Robertah94 my claimed ended today and they still haven’t looked at it x

Robertah94 · 31/03/2023 17:59

Suppose only blessing is, money gets backdated to date claim recieved. Just a farse when affects other money. Even though carers can also be claimed back 3 months also. Just a lot of effort all round

lovepets · 31/03/2023 19:09

I'm not sure if DLA is managed the same way as PIP, but I filled in my renewal last June, and my claim finished end of July. I rang up, and they just said they carried on paying it at the same rate until a new decision was made. It was done the very beginning of this year, and as I got a better award, the difference was backdated till July.
I'm not sure what would happen if they decreased or declined the award, but I don't see how they could request the money to be repaid when the fact that the decision is late is their fault.

MrsA15 · 31/03/2023 19:42

Honestly I was so shocked, she said I just wanted to chat through some things with you to check if he could get higher rate and then when he wasn’t eligible she apologised repeatedly bless her. My scan date was 22/12/22, I sent in my sons reports from psychiatry uk, his school education reports I get 6 weekly, reports from the emotional well-being team he was under and his medication list. Xx

Jam291 · 02/04/2023 21:22

Hi all,

can anyone reassure me…. I sent my child’s DLA forms off two weeks ago and I haven’t had any form of confirmation?
I’m worrying they may have got lost- do you get confirmation? This is our third renewal and I’m sure I got a text last time

🧐

AprilFools2015 · 03/04/2023 07:03

ok got the letter from DWP...actual award for our nearly 8 year old with ASD/ADHD (diagnosed 1st Nov) is:
mid rate care
low rate getting around
£95 a week

til 2027 some time, is about 4.5 years, so then we'll have to renew, but its 20 weeks for renewal, right?

Was backdated as on UC, sent via recorded delivery 28.12.22, awarded, got payment 29.03.23.

Good luck everyone.

AprilFools2015 · 03/04/2023 07:37

@Seher955 that's rubbish bout JC+ appointments! Can you request to have your weekly appts in day when DD at school, on the grounds she struggles coming with you due to her ALN??

Also agree with others, get any evidence you can from school, go to GP too if needed and make sure she's getting assessment...took 19 months for our son's diagnosis after initial referral. We started DLA form & getting teachers' views b4 he was diagnosed, but took ages to sort it, so we had the diagnosis & report (plus teachers' views) by time I sent the form in. We realised Jan 2021 after husband had a training session at work on autism (we were looking for diff set of needs as my BiL is also autistic), school were like "oh! why didn't we think of this?" so then very supportive, initial meet with Ed Psyche was mid March 2021. Turns out he has autism & ADHD.

Mumof5123 · 03/04/2023 13:00

I’ve just called up my daughter claim is with DM scan date 3/1
does anyone know how long it’s with the decision maker roughly :)
thanks in advance

Seher955 · 03/04/2023 13:39

I always ask for apps for when shes at school and they just don't listen, ive rang uc multiple times and they say they've left a note on the system, but when I go they never have appointments for times suitable! It's just ridiculous they don't give a crap, im absolutely sick of it.
Yes shes been assessed and had her diagnosis it took 4 years, got all the teachers views and Dr's notes sent in with the forms too along with her diagnosis letter from her pediatrician. They received the claim on the 5th Jan spoke to someone last week and they said its not even with DM yet. Just so stressed out atm.

Mommax3 · 03/04/2023 16:36

I’ve just sent off our MR today. A 5 page letter to state why I disagree with their decision, a letter from their childminder, CAMHS referral & the intervention sessions she is having at school. (Although school have been so unhelpful) we recently had a meeting and they stated that because she isn’t disruptive during school that they will not even consider to apply for an EHCP etc. Even though her teacher said she’s started to fall behind academically. They did however put in a referral to the sleep clinic and I have a first appointment on Wednesday! So that was super fast.
Good luck to those of you waiting!! It’s the worst wait ever.

Sas1410 · 03/04/2023 19:44

@Mommax3 apply for your own ECHP through your local council, I have twice. They send you out some paperwork to complete and some to the school who are legally obliged to reply within a certain time frame x

Nannyjshell · 04/04/2023 15:37

Phoned today been told renewals bring done on the day the expire told to ring Monday reminded them that it was a bank holiday so they would not be in work to do it on Monday 10th April. Told them that my carers allowance would stop if it wasn't done in time they didn't seem to care. Annoyed as sent form back as soon as received so they have had over 12 weeks.

Brown2010 · 04/04/2023 16:38

@Nannyjshell mine ran out on the 31st March .. still not been looked at .. my carers ect stopped also .. it’s so stressful 😫 x

MrsA15 · 04/04/2023 20:13

Can anyone tell me if my husbands salary is taken into consideration when applying for carers? He works full time and has a high paying job but of late I’ve had to stop working due to some of my boys requirements.

lovepets · 04/04/2023 20:55

Hi, No, it's the earnings of the person caring. I think you can earn £132 a week at the moment, it should be increasing Thursday.
Any money your husband earns is not taken into consideration. Hope that helps
