…it was entirely up to you? If things like money/overpopulation/others opinions were not influencing or restricting your decision?

OP posts:

I always wanted 4 but we stopped at 2.

lfYouLikePInaColadas · 06/11/2022 23:59

I have two, and two is perfect.
I like the idea of more (four total), for the dynamics and added fun and ready-made friends, but also at the same time, not. My two like each other’s company, but also both like peace, space, enough time with me.

Even if money were no object, doing all the birthday and Xmas stuff more than I already do is a mental and physical load I’m glad I don’t have. I also don’t think I have enough time to devote to more children. It’s enough trying to give each a) personal attention b) schedule all their weekly activities. Simply could not do all that they do if there were more of them (unless they were two sets of twins who liked doing the same activities). Also, I think two is much easier for travel/holidays/fitting in cars/train rides.

Oh, and I wouldn’t want to go through labour again.

And again...

The OP explicitly says if money/overpopulation were NOT an issue.

It's a hypothetical question.

The poster I replied to says she wants and intends to have 6 real children. Not hypothetical ones. That was exactly my point.

BloodAndFire · 07/11/2022 12:04

NCFT0922 · 06/11/2022 21:54

@BloodAndFire why did you even click on this thread? Lots of us have 4 on here, a few others have said they have 5/6. Why choose this one poster to try and pick on?

It was the most recent post. I haven't seen any of the other posts from people who have loads of actual children, as opposed to hypothetical ones.

But if you're one of them, happy to ask you the same question?

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/11/2022 12:17

What is it about mums with lots of kids that winds Mn posters up so badly?!

It's literally a thread about numbers of children you would have IF money and overpopulation weren't issues.

Which they are.

If you're not interested in the subject, maybe try a different thread?

maybe you should before your blood pressure goes through the roof!

I'm literally lying in bed drinking coffee and idly posting on mumsnet. You don't need to police the thread or post weird fictional diagnoses 😁

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/11/2022 12:39

I mean you were the first to suggest a different thread, so the thread police title is yours right now…

@BloodAndFire I have 4. No, I’m not concerned about “the overpopulation thing”. I think some of your posts have been deleted so not sure if you had any more questions.

None of my posts have been deleted, as far as i can see.

where do you think these deleted posts of mine are?

Are any of your children concerned yet about the planet and the environment, or are they all still too young?

NCFT0922 · 07/11/2022 13:23

@BloodAndFire I can see some responses to deleted posts, sorry if they’re not yours.
They’re all too young at the moment. Eldest DD does a lot at school about climate change but she hasn’t discussed the population or the effects of it. Youngest isn’t 1 yet and the boys are 3 & 5.
both my husband and I have big families and our siblings bar 2 all have 4/5 children too. My BIL is only 21 so no children yet and my sister cannot have children.

NCFT0922 · 07/11/2022 13:24

@BloodAndFire just double checked and they aren’t your posts.

I guess it is what you are used to. But if everyone had 4 or 5 children, the world would be even more messed up than it is now, and not a good place for them to grow up.

My kids are much older than yours and they spend a lot of time at school hearing about climate change, overpopulation etc. So I was wondering if your children had asked you about it yet, and If you think they will all go on to have large families themselves, but obviously they're too young for any of those questions.

Thanks for confirming that it wasn't my posts which were deleted. I couldn’t think of any possible reason they would have been.

cravingthelook · 07/11/2022 13:33

None. I love mine, but as I've aged I realised it wasn't a conscious choice of mine. 1) contraception issue and I felt I should just go ahead. 2) exH choice more than mine and again I went along with it.
I will reach mine it's fully their choice.

AdoraLovesCake · 07/11/2022 17:17

Probably 4. I have one and soon 2. Maybe in three years or so if I find myself in a good position, possibly another one. I would love another one but not sure if life is going to disagree

Because it's stupid having loads of kids when you can't possibly give them all the attention and time they need.

Itisbetter · 07/11/2022 17:48

@Goofygoogoof Because it's stupid having loads of kids when you can't possibly give them all the attention and time they need. most larger families have a SAHP how could they possibly be giving their children less attention than someone with half the number who works full time?

Goofygoogoof · 07/11/2022 17:50

Cos if you have say 10 kids you won't be able to give them each quality time as you would with say 2. It's not possible!

AudreyJL · 07/11/2022 17:51

@BloodAndFire nope!

sageandrosemary · 07/11/2022 17:56

Four. Have two now.

BloodAndFire · 07/11/2022 18:26

AudreyJL · 07/11/2022 17:51

@BloodAndFire nope!

Why is that? Does it not bother you that if everyone did the same as you, your children will all grow up in a world that's essentially impossible to live on?

NCFT0922 · 07/11/2022 18:46

@Goofygoogoof I grew up as one of 4. Lots of love, time & attention. My siblings all agree. Funnily enough, 2 of us have gone onto have 4 children and 1 has 5. One of us cannot have children and it kills her. She too wanted a big family.
Clearly none of us felt the way you seem to be assuming children of large families feel. My children get a lot of time and attention, probably more than some only children or children with 1 sibling just by the fact I able to be at home and outsource lots of things. My time is free to spend with them.

AudreyJL · 07/11/2022 18:46

@BloodAndFire I don’t have to justify my reasonings online 😊take care
